The Guardsman in City of London, Westminster

The only stars deserved are regarding the kindness of the staff. Indeed the hotel is far away from a 5* has they claimed. The food is awful, the room are basics and lack of light. I would not recommend if you are looking for something stunning with quality clients. Very average.

We had a lovely afternoon tea at the Guardsman. The location was ideal since we walked straight there from the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. All the teas and treats were fantastic, but it was the impeccable service from Vinay that truly made this experience exceptional. Thank you, Vinay, for making my children feel like absolute gold and for giving my husband and myself a relaxing afternoon. We highly recommend!

I booked afternoon tea well in advance for a special occasion. We waited over an hour for them to bring any food (with no explanation, although they did give a complimentary glass of sparkling wine when I asked what was taking so long) and we also had to ask to be brought some tea. The food looked pretty sloppily assembled, e.g. some of the decorations had flopped over or the creme pat was not properly set. The sandwiches also were not particularly nicely presented, although they tasted fine. The scones were OK. One guest who was vegetarian got a completely different set of cakes (which all looked really similar to each other and quite dull). There was only one other table taken when we were there, so it's not as if they were busy. Clearly something had gone wrong, maybe they were short-staffed, but it was a special occasion so I would have rather just had a nice and good quality tea! Positive points were that the decor was quite nice, the background music was excellent and the staff were friendly. Just thought I would write a review to warn others! UPDATE: the hotel contacted me to offer 50% refund and also offered a complimentary tea for our group so they seem keen to remedy the situation.

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea at the Guardsman yesterday! It is a lovely hotel and the food was absolutely delicious, with some of the most beautiful cakes we’ve ever had (and they were just as tasty as they were pretty!) Vinay and Sruthi provided excellent service and were so friendly and helpful throughout, even going out of their way to entertain our 8 month old son. They were also incredibly accommodating as we had only booked a few hours before (they usually require further notice) and gave a very warm welcome to our small dog too! The whole family absolutely loved the experience and can’t recommend it enough :)

Wonderful hotel! I would highly recommend staying here for a trip to London. It’s slightly removed from the very busy areas of the city, and coming back to a quiet, less chaotic location was great after long days of sight seeing. Getting to main sights was easy via foot, buses, or the tube, and there’s plenty of places to eat close by and a wonderful restaurant in the hotel. My Airbnb canceled two hours before check in and I was lucky enough to make a last minute reservation here. The accommodations were 5 star, and the staff were very kind and helpful and even helped with contacting a local gym to work out at. I can’t recommend The Guardsman enough. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Fabulous hotel in a great location. Rooms were bigger than other hotels i have stayed in, in London. Staff were great and nothing was too much trouble.

Great hotel with great service! Everyone in the staff was very accommodating. Pradeep at the bar was great! Others at the bar and reception were amazing! Will definitely stay here again! Rooms were a bit tiny although that is expected in central London. Location was good, few minutes walk from Buckingham Palace

This is a very nice hotel. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. Its in a good location and just a short walk to the subway. All in all I would stay here again, however, there are some things that deserve a mention. You have to be let in and out of the front door by the staff, which I find very strange. For the the price, the rooms were very small, btu still very nice. In your room, there are no switches for lights. Its all strange and confusing key pads that you have to figure out. Same thing goes for the housekeeping. You have to hit a button on its own keypad, and all of the buttons look the same so we never quite knew if we were getting housekeeping or not. Like I said, none of these would keep me from staying here again. They just seem like solutions for problems that don't exist.

This hotel was in a great location near Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey and Palace, all of which were a quick walk from the hotel. We were treated wonderfully and the room was cozy but very nice and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to visitors to the area!

Very well decorated and most importantly sparkling room. Location is great - very close to tube and bus stations, and safe during the night. Service is great throughout, but if they could help with the luggage when I depart to the Uber I would give them a perfect (it is not necessary, but considering they had two people at the front, either busy with tasks and I was one person with heavy suitcases, in my experience same price point hotel would offer some help). Overall a very pleasant experience. The room is somewhat small but considering the housing price and location I think it’s reasonable

We stayed there for 3 nights. The room was a little crowded but absolutely comfy! The service was 5 star! We tried the afternoon tea in the bar downstairs and it was stunning and delicious. I also used the dry clean service, the staff was super helpful and responsible. I'm very satisfied.

So glad we found this hotel, great location, amazing staff who were so attentive and welcoming. Room was a great size and perfect for a couples London getaway. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful and elegant, yet warm cozy feeling because of the staff. They were the best!! The location was perfect for our stay as we could walk to the sites we were interested in.

The only thing that let The Guardsman down was the size of the room which was tiny. Otherwise, this is an excellent hotel in a superb location. Great service and helpful, friendly staff.

Lovely hotel but if you want any service you have to go looking for it. I was the only person in the communal area and the only service I got was to be told to take my (un shoed) feet from the sofa while reading a book. Went to the bar 3 times before someone was there to get me a drink.

We had a great experience. The location is perfect. The room where small (it's in a central location in London) but well designed. The shower is one of the best I've had during this trip. Bed was comfortable. We had breakfast there once, and liked the food, but the room noise is too annoying. Plates cannot sit flat on the tables and has people eat, the room turn into a concert of plate hitting ceramic. Most of the table are made of 4 square ceramic tile, which are not level with one another. So it clang the side you press with cutlery when eating. They need to do something about it. Change the offending table or buy thick table cloth? Few things that are not great in the room. First, there is a green LED light on the ceiling. Look like smoke detector but it's way to bright for a bedroom. If you need a pitch black room to sleep this hotel is not for you. My wife was able to sleep with a mask. The TV has Chromecast but I was never able to cast anything to it. I've tried Spotify and Youtube from an iPhone.

Had afternoon tea here. It was all amazing! We were looked after by Maria and another young girl whoes name we didn't get. Both were so attentive, always checking if we had enough of everything. Highly recommend. Service was incredible!
