An absolutely wonderful hotel , restaurant and pub - in the ownership of a lovely family. Had a brilliant 2 night stay - room was extremely comfortable- with pleasant furnishings and amazing attention to detail . Had many favourable meals ( breakfasts and dinner) in the restaurant - a nicely varied menu to suit all . The food and drinks were expertly prepared and served - including a lot of flavoursome local produce . Bar had a great ambiance and atmosphere - a proper Mid Wales pub central to the community. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - very many thanks to all concerned: Jenny and Steve 😊🏴🍷

Went to the Greyhound Hotel on a hot Sunday evening, the outside area was full of people driving and enjoying the sun. Thought oh no they are to busy for us to have food. But plenty of room inside and nice and cool from the sun. We both had food off their set menu and we were not disappointed. REAL home made chips, best I have had when estimating out, Well done kitchen staff keep improving the food and I am sure you'll get the rewards

Spent the weekend at the hotel, friends of ours where getting married and had booked the whole hotel. Arrived on Friday afternoon met in the cosy, well stocked bar a good range of drinks on tap. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Rooms clean and tidy very well looked after. Breakfast was very tasty and filled me up, nothing was a problem for the staff. After the wedding back to the hotel where the food was delicious,no complaints from none of the wedding guests. Sunday morning again a great breakfast. All in all a great weekend at a great hotel.Would definitely recommend and visit again if in the area.

Six of us stayed here in March, had a good stay and were offered a price of £80 per room for a return so I booked the triple. Also offered was a choice of five or six differnt menu options (this was to get us to stay as we would be drinking lots of beer) There was only curries and chilli on the night and only one draught beer. When it came to pay I was charged £130 for the room I and a couple of mates stayed in. Most galling was that the room was £117 on another site. The owner reneged on the agreement and although she said she would `be in touch`. She hasn`t and has not replied to my e mails or texts. If you insist on staying here get the price in writing! We won`t be returning.

We went here for Sunday lunch which we assumed was a carvery, we were told that lunch was beef which was fine and was served straight from the kitchen. A sort time later another party arrived and they were offered beef and chicken!!! The meal was served in a timely manner and was of good quality apart from the Yorkshire pudding which was like cardboard. The meal was priced right for what meal was.

We called here on the way to our holiday destination on Friday evening. We were warmly welcomed and were told that they served food. Delicious it was too. Cottage pie and vegetables for me. My husband really enjoyed his chicken, ham and leek pie accompanied by some chips which I can vouch tasted delicious. We thought we had come to a pub but it is a hotel. It wasn’t very busy so if you are in the area I suggest that you call in.

The staff are very friendly (thank you to Jane especially) and helpful, the beer is good, as is the food with plenty of choice for an evening meal. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms are comfortable, clean with tea/coffee making facilities and strong Wi-Fi. A pool table, dart board and board games are available. I thoroughly recommend the Greyhound. Went to Greyhound Hotel with family who came home for Christmas. After we ordered our food the waitress came and told us half of our order wasn't available. We were told chips were homemade but they tasted like frozen chips. The food came in a reasonable time but wasn't over hot. The bar lady was obviously listening to our conservation and piped on a couple times and was very load.

Weekend away for 2. We were greeted by the staff on arrival and the young lady (I use that term specifically becasue if you think that you're being served by children you're just getting old) was lovely and even offered to have our bag taken taken the room. She reserved a table for dinner and greeted us again at the bar when we came back down. .Good selection of beer. Food was great both in the evening and the breakfast. Do go here for food. Its all freshly cooked and of a very good standard. The room was clean and tidy. A little dated but what do you want for the price they are charging. It was comfy and did the job. Was worth what we paid and we couldn't ask for more. We would definitely go back. Thanks to the staff and owners who did a great job of making us feel welcome and giving us a good weekend.

Came with friends, arrived and was told there was a 40 mins wait which was fine with us all, waited 45 minutes before they came and took our order then once they took the order they came out multiple times and told us they had run out of some of our food, then people who had ordered after us had their food and had the last of what would have been our food order but they prioritized other people orders and then our food came at 9.40pm for a couple of people in my group to have to send their food back because it was the wrong order. Honestly DO NOT BOTHER going here unless you want a less than satisfactory dining experience.

Now we're talking. You cannot go a lot wrong with this on the menu, kicking in at a very reasonable £4.99. Fair to say that the pubs in Buith can be something of a mixed bag. However this is a very friendly venue. Possibly the best steak I have eaten in many a long time. Staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. But at breakfast the older lady that cooked the breakfast was very rude and out of order. we came down and picked up the food we wanted and myself and my friend picked up 2 sausages. Then the lady come up to us and was not impressed that we had picked up 2 sausages and was huffing and puffing at us. Then another person who was in the breakfast area drop a sausage on the floor and was left on the floor for about 15 minutes then when the women chef come back out she picked the sausage that was on the floor and placed it back into the tray where all the fresh sausages were. it made me feel sick that someone would do that and she had no respect for us.

At the very end of the high street with parking a bit difficult to find round the back... it was fairly busy on a midweek night. Locals came in to watch TV and there was some sort of Green Eco meeting going on upstairs...which we were invited to join by some friendly soul? The food was the usual pub food .but the service was good and a friendly waitress made sure it was to our liking. Chilli Con Carne was middle of the road not too hot, not too many beans! Fillet steak was good if a bit expensive .presentation could have been better? We didn’t have a pudding but the Capucine Coffee was quite tasty, made with some arabica beans advertised Well supported by the locals which is always a good sign. Nice easygoing atmosphere. , friendly land lord. Think they may have hotel rooms , not.sure there was not much evidence of that. Free Wi-fi available with easy connection! Pleasant evening.

Although they were very busy and managed to fit us in with some friends, so we should have been grateful, we did not have a good experience. My dish - simple salmon steak - was undercooked so red and raw inside. I commented on this and the waitress simply said, 'sorry about that'. THe vegetables were very dry and there was no sauce. A friend asked for three scoops of icecream and got three bowlfuls. Coffee was unavailable as the machine was switched off at 3pm. This was an evening meal! The waitresses seemed out of their depth and the bar and kitchen seemed not to be communicating. All very strange, and not what you'd expect from what must be a popular and well-frequented hostelry.

However, over two consecutive nights we, as a group, were not entirely happy with our meals. Both nights there were various problems that were dealt with less than satisfactorily. I queried this with Clare behind the bar at 10 mins to 9 on Thursday and was told not to worry it would be with us soon as they were short staffed and busy. At 5 mins past 9 we saw Clare eating the same pud on the bar I had ordered and upon querying where my pud was she said the kitchen was now closed.... I asked whose pud she was eating and she said it was a left over and as a left over it was bar perks...guess what? We ate elsewhere the next few nights.

Parking is available on the road outside the hotel and there's also a car park with limited space.Thankfully the menu was not too large and rightfully focused on good local products.I had the lamb cutlets which were a very generous size and cooked perfectly and these came with carrots, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and chips - a very good helping but all well cooked. The wine was only available in small 185cl bottles but it was perfectly ok and at least it hadnt been standing opened for a few days.I really enjoyed the meal and will definitely return here the next time I'm in Builth Wells.

Lovely welcome from the bar staff as we went through the entrance door. Many food choices from grill to fish to vegetarian. Went back a second night and were greeted like old friends ( how nice to see you , a familiar face). Food again excellent!!!

We hadn't booked a table and got the last one available. The dining room is a bit characterless but the staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming and the food was good pub food.

We had booked a table for two it was so noisy we could not hear one another speak. The waitress was very good and moved us to another room. We could still hear them but not as loudly. Management should have said something to them as children were there as well.

We visited this hotel on the evening of Monday 5th September 2016 to celebrate our grandson's imminent departure to university. A night out for dinner for five with 3 generations of my family. The food and service was excellent and was provided by friendly staff. After dinner we were invited to sit in and listen to the local mail voice choir's rehearsal for their next concert. A beautiful end to a perfect evening.

We chanced upon the greyhound because both our plan A and plan B failed... but what a treat. The food was delicious, staff were smiling and friendly. The icing on the cake was that the Builth Male Voice Choir were rehearsing upstairs and we were allowed to sit in after our meal.... what a treat. the only down side was that Eastenders was playing in the background whilst we were eating ...but hey ho. Will definitely go their again and be recommending it to our B&B guests

The food was nice, not sure the mash was real though. It was a very busy night, this didn't effect the service though, the staff were spot on and we didn't have to wait long for anything. I did feel it was a little bit pricey for food but okay if you're not on a budget. Lively pub atmosphere.

We booked last minute and got a table for many. This was, perhaps, the best part of the booking. We were sat in the bar area of the hotel. Although the serving staff was friendly, if was as though she had something else on her mind. The order was decidedly different to that which we placed. Extra chips (that we had to pay for), here, extra meals (that we had to pay for), there. The kids, for example, were to share a meal but two meals were brought out. Resulting in a plateful of waste, and a tonne of uneaten chips! The order was reiterated before she took it to the kitchen to! I didn't have the curry but many of my friends did. All agreed it was a jar (or large vat) curry, not homemade. I had the fish cakes and must say they are very nice. Being seated in the bar area, even before the watershed, you are subjected to the foul mouthed locals sat at the bar who didn't consider the presence of kids. I wouldn't rush back here.

Good food and a welcoming atmosphere make this a very popular pub/restaurant with both locals and travellers. If you want a meal book a table to be sure they can accommodate you. It's also a great spot for a drink and a bit of local colour. Check out the Monday evening choir practice that starts around 8pm.

What a disappointing evening. We didn't get off to a great start as we'd originally booked for 4 people and then rang 2 days before our visit and added 4 more people to find that there was no record of this on the diary. I'd specifically asked to be in the bar area, but due to the cock-up, this resulted in us being sat in the dining room, on our own, with no atmosphere. The next problem is that I asked for a bitter shandy and the bar staff served this using Brains Black which tasted awful. We ordered mains which all arrived at different times and some with chips missing. None of the steaks were cooked as they should have been and the chicken was dry. The Bangers n Mash which should have come with local sausages was served with catering sausages, I would have expected something from a local butcher. We all ordered desserts and bizarrely the ice cream orders were brought first. The two people who ordered these did initially wait for the rest but in the end the ice cream was melting so they carried on. The rest of the desserts arrived in dribs and drabs with the last one arriving at least 20 minutes after the first, some of these were served with incorrect accompaniments. To be fair the staff were pleasant and helpful but the service of the food with regards to the timings was poor. We've visited here on a number of occasions over the years, and on the whole, had very good meals but on this visit it was very poor. I wonder if the usual chef was not on this night. Sadly we won't be going back.
