The Greek Vine Restaurant in Sutton

We held a social event yesterday at the Greek Vine Restaurant, Wallington. The mexe was outstanding and there were copies servings. The service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed a great party atmosphere for a group of 40 . The drinks are also very reasonable. It's our go to party evening destination! A big thanks to Simon, Andreaa and the restaurant team.

Simon and his team run a flawless Greek themed party experience. The evening is taken at a leisurely pace beginning with an opportunity to enjoy drinks and starters plus pitta and delicious dips. The staff are welcoming and friendly and incredibly fast moving and organised. You'll then be treated to some plate smashing fun and the music livens up. Most guests are there for celebration nights so expect lots of dancing and raucous behaviour in a good family friendly environment - the food service is secondary to the ambiance so don't expect to be in and out in an hour 7:30 to midnight us the minimum to get the most fun in! The food is plentiful and tasty from moussaka to lamb skewers and beef stew and delicious chicken. Plenty of sides and well priced drinks are flowing. As the evening heats up expect more celebrations and Greek dancing from the team who just watching them got me exhausted! A mastclass in event hosting, thanks for a fun night.

THE WORST DINNER EXPERIENCE EVER My family booked a table for my 70th birthday and it proved to be the most appalling evening. The service was beyond terrible: we sat down at 1920, the starters were served 45 minutes later!!!! The main courses took a further 1 hour and 10 minutes so it took 2 hours to get our main courses!!!! The food was very poor, I am Greek and a runny moussaka and some chicken thighs are not acceptable. Also,when did falafels became a Greek dish? Beyond bad. After finishing the main courses we decided to have the desert and leave that dreadful place but we were told that we have to wait an hour for the desert!!! You cannot make it up As for the Greek music and dancing this is what we got: A random guy appeared wearing a wig, ran around the restaurant smashing5-6 plates and then a Greek song came on. The waiters grabbed few customers from the tables, jogged around the tables (believe me it was not Greek dancing) and after the ONE Greek song ended the rest of the evening we had Viva Espana !!!(it is a Greek restaurant) Rocket Man (???)and other songs but not a single piece of Greek music. It is also important to point out that the tables were very close to each other for large groups so we were constantly pushed and elbowed as people were trying to get through. The noise was incredible, virtually impossible to have a conversation so we decided to leave without our desert to escape the worst restaurant environment ever. I am Greek and it takes a lot to criticise a Greek restaurant but my advice is if you want to enjoy Greek food, Greek music, Greek hospitality and customer care, this is NOT the restaurant for you.

Amazing atmosphere and the entertainment was so much fun. From pllates being smashed to lots of dancing. The food was nice and we all enjoyed ourselves. The waiting staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Very clean place and toilets too. Would highly recommend for a family party 🥳 🙌✨️✨️

AMAZING!!! What a gem of a place! Food is lovely and all the staff are attentive and so much fun they join in while still offering the best services. What can I say, everyone at The Greek Vine you made my daughters 16th! What a great night had by us all. I haven’t been here before but we’re already planning our next reason to return. Every staff member I came across was exceptional. This is definitely a hidden gem, the atmosphere is amazing. And the food was tasty. Thank you everyone get ready for us coming back!

An absolutely brilliant evening. My Greatgrandaughter Clarissas 15th Birthday. The waiters were very friendly joined in the dancing. Clarissa was taught Zorbas dance fell in love with the waiter 😂. I highly recommend this amazing restaurant. I will definitely go there again. Ann Osborne

We were packed in at the Greek Vine for a friend's birthday. Service was good, wine OK. Atmosphere was absolutely marvellous. We had such a brilliant time. The music was pitched perfectly for our (age) group. Everyone in the resto had a good time. If you want to laugh and smile all evening, this is where to go.

Had a great Christmas work party night in the Greek Vine. Would definitely go there again.

Firstly being greek myself i feel i can comment on both food and authenticity quite well. The starters such as spanakopita were very nice however the tzatziki and cheese bite things tasted store bought and flavourless. In terms of vegetarian options, don't bother the vegetable mousakka was mostly cheese and underneath that layer there was nothing appetising awaiting. The rice and vegetables alongside the main were microwaved same with the stifado. It felt very low quality for the price tag. Baklava was nice. Now into service and atmosphere They clearly haven't got a system in the kitchen that allows them to cater for different tables eating at different pace or times. Ive never been held ransom by a restaurant before where after 2 hours we had only had starters and desperately wanted to leave butwe hadn't been served our mains and rest of our food despite asking. So Instead we had to wait till the whole restaurant was being served mains. From 7.30 till 11pm we were sat there at each stage waiting for the next course and having to endure what was happening. 11pm dessert and as soon as it was done we asked for the bill- infact we asked earlier but were told to wait for dessert first Onto the actual vibes: Very dark couldn't see our food and just blue lighting. Music so loud you can't converse with the people around you and not being able to communicate for the whole 4 hours as food was delivered instages was dry. It was a caricature of greek culture with the plate smashing and dancing and instead the manager spent the night being the MC of the restaurant. It would be perfect for someone wanting a very tourist snapshot and who wants to just get drunk and spend the night singing "British classics" rather than anyone wanting to have good food with good company. It just seems silly that the food was interspersed with forced dancing as opposed to allowing service to continue and then those that wanted to stay for "cheesy party" vibes could. Staff themselves were very nice and friendly to their credit but the manager was quite rude to a member of his staff unashamedly in front of us No one came to ask us about our food or ask for additional drinks either.

This place is terrible !!!! It’s a disgrace to the Greek communities of all Islands , mockery to the Greek food and a ruining to the reputation for having good food and music !! , the food was all cheap frozen food , the alcohol cheap but still expensive !! There is not even one Greek person working there !! It reminds me of a very bad Chinese street buffet in Croydon years ago !! Mocking the real Cypriot owners of 5 years before also !!

Was not expecting entering the doors at 7.30pm to Non Greek workers. They try to make sure your drunk before they starting serving non Greek food at 9pm. Bad service, food quality was very bad. If you fancy a party night with over priced drinks, plate smashing & music like come on Eileen then I would recommend this place, if not the slug & lettuce in Sutton is quite local, would be a better party atmosphere & could possible be on par with the food also.

Absolutely fantastic evening. We came on a Friday which is classed as a party night. The waiters are charming. The music is cheesy and fantastic. Gets you toe tapping, singing and dancing. Lots of plate smashing. The food was AMAZING and plentiful. The moussaka was so fantastic. 100% recommend.

Amazing atmosphere, food is lovely and the entertainment is always so much fun

Food was average but this place is more about the atmosphere. Very very loud so you won't be able to have a conversation with your neighbour. Lots of drunk people and quite a few of those partaking in something stronger in the toilet so didn't feel safe letting the younger members of our party go alone to the loo.

I’m on my way home from the Greek vine and I have literally had the best night ever, the waiters were so lovely I felt like I was on holiday. Couldn’t ask for more will be going back without a shadow of doubt . Thank you Greek vine from Lisa Bates xxx

Very noisy and loud to local residents they leave broken bottles everywhere and keep urinating in people's gardens bad enough with the Whispering moon next door as well they are both as bad as each other #SuttonCouncil need to review both licences

Always a fun night at The Greek Vine! Its a party place and you can expect a good selection of traditional food - sharing style, reasonable prices, friendly staff and plate smashing! After your meal the lights dim, the volume on the music goes up, the staff dance and encourage you to do the same. Every table is up dancing by the end of the night🌙 🥂

I really liked this place! Starters I loved mains was a bit bland. The staff are so welcoming and really engage with everyone which is nice its a very homely. They dance with everyone aswell.. encourage everyone to get up and dance .. its a really nice vibe in their..

First time at this restaurant, it was an experience. The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed the dancing and music. We didn’t realise that everybody eats at the same time so we were really hungry by the time the starters came up, then full by the time the mains came and no one wanted dessert - only option being one with nuts which one of us was allergic too. Food was standard. Service was exceptionally slow, it took ages to get drinks and ages to get the bill.

I have been going to the greek vine for over ten yrs now. we always enjoyed the traditional atmosphere, now it has gone to a more party night out. It's not the same in my mind not as good, so I won't be going back, in saying that if you want a party night out then it will be the place for you, lots of quiet loud music and plenty of dancing.

Best fun we've had in a London restaurant in 2 decades. Fantastic atmosphere, excellent food, great staff who made sure everyone was having a good time. Will definitely go back soon !

A few years ago I left a review saying this wasn't a Greek restaurant. I didn't think I'd ever have to endure the place again but went for a birthday. The food is so bad, it's like frozen imitation Greek food. Moussaka is sloppy and has no flavour other than cheese. Spanakopita is dry, yet somehow wet, and tasteless. The chicken was cooked as if they were trying to make sure it was really dead, so dry I couldn't eat more than the first bite. Beef was tough and unflavoured. Falafel dry like a rock, I didn't bother to taste it, still remember it from a few years ago. Baklava was the driest brick, like it was passed the use by date and had been sitting out. I left hungry. Waiters don't really have a warm and friendly attitude either. I could go on about the service, but I feel there's little point. Wouldn't come back or recommend anyone eat here. Oh, and they played the same friggin Greek song 5 times. No Greek culture here whatsoever.

Absolutely brilliant night out Music & food was delicious & superb Defo back again .

Went with a group of friends. Twice I was knocked on the back of my head with plates by waiters. I enjoyed being with my friends.

Set meze menu and you pay per head, food was amazing 👏, playlist for each course was brilliant and then between each course they play the greek folk songs, smash plates and get everyone up and dancing. It was a brilliant night out. I found some of the stuff quite abrupt and not always helpful, the young lads definitely have their favourites which get the friendlier attention but it didn't prevent me having a good time! I would go back for sure! Just be aware that it's a long night with the entertaining around the food so everyone in place had starters at same time around 8:15 then there was dancing and our main platters didn't come out until 9:45 then there was plate smashing and announcements, I left at 10:45 and the desserts hadn't come out as everyone was still dancing so not sure what time they got those x

What a place to celebrate New Year's eve. The food is absolutely beautiful and they will certainly give you loads! The staff & how they make sure everyone is happy & having a good time has got to be what makes this place. Absolutely fantastic place.

This restaurant was worst place i have ever been The food was discussing where was nothing Greek food to be honest ,where is even the owner is South African. I was have my doughier birthday on this place I booked menu for birthday party Where we are 5 adults and 6 children he was charging us for 7 adult and 4 children So I want tho the bar to ask the staff they told me The Bos done the bill so he came and I was so polite with him I thought he forgot are mess up the answer I got how old are the kids so I told him 6-7-9-2x10 and 11 we was with my sister low family’s So after that ho told me I don’t understand I don’t speak good English But anyway short story guys check the bill please is very dodgy place

I had a good time here but that wasn't down to the food (which was perfectly fine) but was entirely due to the alcohol that they encourage you to buy. I quickly got hammered. A good place for a celebration or work party.

Plate smashing and the whole tavern up dancing together was full on holiday vibes… in the middle of Wallington! Food was delicious too and tasty cocktails flowing. We had a great time here for a friend's birthday. One big party. Dancing, plate smashing and sparklers. The waiters danced and encouraged you to join in too. Not the place to go if you want an intimate, quiet meal.

Great atmosphere and good value for money. Fun entertainment and music. Food was nice, but took forever to come, then the staff cleared the table before we had finished eating. Overall a good night but maybe eat before you go.

Really fun evening. Def more of an overall experience than dinner itself, lots of dancing, didn't eat till late but the food was unreal and such good value for money. Such a hidden gem in Wallington, would be great for a celebration of any kind, birthday or hen do! X

Update: Just been there again last night. It was even better. Great food, wine and dancing. Greek dancing with diners joining in. Courses well spaced out throughout the night. Would give you ten stars if I could. Good food, wine and dancing.

Fantastic work night out but questionable are the drinks, I drank copious amounts of 'alcohol' and should have crawled out of there but wasn't even tipsy! The atmosphere was really great, the food was good and the staff very sociable.
