The Great Wall Chinese Takeaway in Tameside

We turned up just as they were closing as we got stuck in traffic, we’re currently visiting family in the area and really wanted a Chinese before we leave tomorrow. The really kind Lady and gentleman opened the kitchen back up for us to cook our meal. We ordered a large amount of food between a few of us and it tasted absolutely delicious! Amazing portion sizes and even better prices!! We have had exactly the same from other Chinese takeaways and they’ve been much more expensive and worse in taste. IF YOU LIVE LOCAL PAY A VISIT TO THIS TAKE AWAY!

Ordered fried rice chips sausage and curry sauce. Arrived with barely any curry sauce at all. Luckily we live local so had to walk back and ask for more curry sauce. We was told you only get ONE SCOOP of curry or gravy per portion. Absolutely ridiculous as the food was so dry. Won’t be eating here again

Unfortunately i cannot rate the food!i rang for my first order after looking at the menu and pricing it all up.when i rang to place the order for delivery,we were told the price and their price was 18 pounds more than the menu price.i questioned this to be told it was an old menu we were looking at?however my daughter and her partner had been and collected an order a few days previous and the items were half the price!so they lost a new customer it was a large order aswell and would of been for future orders!

Excellent little place. Tried it for the first time last night with my Chinese girlfriend. She said the Beef Chow Mein was exactly how she would cook it at home, the ribs we got were very authentic. The staff were lovely and polite, with the chefs being efficient and professional. Plan on becoming a Regular!

Bang on just had salt n pepper chicken chips & gravy delivered it’s soooo nice the chips are cooked the best & the salt and pepper chicken is the best yet do not change it it’s perfect!!

I was so excited not had a Chinese in ages, I got king prawn chos main that tasted awful and the prawns where off. My son had the chicken fried rice and it stunk. The springs rolls I took a bite and had to spit it out. So gutted as just moved to hyde and wanted a Chinese local. It was 0/0

Friendly staff and the food is delicious! If you get it delivered it costs £1 and the delivery people are always friendly.

Used to buy salt +pepper chicken every week. But a change in taste and product put me off. Taste is bland. Just not the same nomore

Yung chow fried rice is fit as are the satay skewers 😍 had it twice now & both time's enjoyed everything I've ordered! Very quick service too which is a bonus!

Ordered last night the salt an pepper box av Ordered from here a few times before its bin OK but last night terrible crispy beef was still frozen in places and everything was drowning in salt not usually like this but thought maybe different chef at weekends at the bottom of trey was swimming in oil ate wat was edible thought maybe a of day but this morning I have woke being sick an my wife is poorly too I will never order again I feel like they did this on purpose because I payed by card which they expressed dissatisfaction at on the phone terrible

lovely staff always friendly even that big scary looking delivery driver is actually a really nice guy who always finds time to have a quck chat b4 he gets off on one of his delivery runs , great food much better than useless abduls next door why go there when the chinese is so much better service and no i dont work for them honest lol

used to be a favourite until a chef left a while back and food has gone right down hill.. sausages are very gristley also chips are not nice at all hygiene rating has gone down significantly which is worrying.

Visited August 2021. Visited as seemed to be the only chippy within a reasonable distance from where I was staying. Ordered a fish & chips, which seemed to be done to order. Due to mask wearing (which I can't knock the server for as most people aren't bothering these days), there was some misunderstanding over the price and minimum spend on the card. From what I gathered it seemed I was under the card spend minimum but had only a note on me which at the end turned out not to cover the meal. However, the very kind person serving said they'd let me off the 40p or whatever was outstanding, which was very generous of them - that was worth at least a star on its own. The chips were nice, not "chippy chips" but slightly sweeter, which is something I would expect from a chippy/Chinese takeaway. Unfortunately the fish was a let down, and from its rectangular appearance and uniform batter looked likely to have been pre-battered and then frozen in a factory prior to being popped in the fryer. However, for the price I suppose that should be expected. Would certainly visit again if in the area.

Staying in area and didn't know what to expect. Order taken over the phone, collected in 15 mins. Food was hot and delicious.

Good food ready in 30 minutes. Sure, it's not restaurant standard but it's good take away food. And lots of it. Even a little freebie in the bag. Spicy wings. Mmmmm. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Hii can recommend the great Wall, the food is hot, and very tasty Great service, and great fast delivery. Just had a takeaway at 16 Woodlands Close Broadbottom Hyde Cheshire Sk146hx it was amazing

Horrible greasy food, the food actually stinks of pure grease. Chewy salt amd pepper chicken, salt and pepper ribs are just ridiculous. Wont be goIng again.

Ordered from here twice now and both times the food was made quickly, was hot, and very tasty. I'm new to the area so trying new places out but I think ill be sticking with this place for my Chinese food. 5 STARS

Not great, spent £40, got salt and pepper chips, chips were mega greasy and tasted like they had been sat for hours, salt n pepper ribs, where deffinatly not fresh the first one I bit into was hot on the outside and cold on the inside, the mixed meats in peaking sauce was hot as in heat, but completely tastless. Sweet and sour chicken was nice, as was the chicken chow mein, as for the rest, approx £30 In the bin. Wont be trying there again. UPDATE: I CONTACTED THE CHINESE TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THE FOOD, I WAS TOLD "WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO ABOUT IT, WE DONT DO REFUNDS", AS I WAS EXPLAINING THAT I HADNT CALLED FOR A REFUND I HAD THE PHONE PUT DOWN ON ME!

Lovely food and quick delivery every time 😋

I have ordered many times over the last 2 years and always have 1 of 2 dishes. I ordered a Japanese noodles with duck in black bean sauce. Today the sauce came with chillies in it which I can’t eat due to a medical condition, I rang up to be told it’s always had chillies in it and they would not be replacing it. I said that I’ve eaten this dish many times and it hasn’t had chillies in it before as I get extremely ill if I eat spicy food. He was having none of it, rude and extremely unhelpful, we will not be ordering from here again.

Food is always amazing, tastes really good and full of flavour, the delivery time is usually very quick, only 30 mins at most and delivery drivers are always very nice and friendly, prices are good too

Disgraceful service from the owner. Violent and aggressive. Took our order down wrong due to lack of understanding of English. Overcharged me and provided wrong food. When called to explain he had gave the wrong food he was extreemly rude, screaming, shouting and swearing ober the phone. Disgraceful.

I've used the take away before but the last two times I've been left with food poisoning both from chow mein definitely would not recommend this place and will be telling friends and family to stay away aswell just glad I did not let my 5 year old eat it with me

Food is awful. Bland, watery sauce, loads of veg to replace the meat. Used to be nice now it's just awful. Update May 2017 Thought I'd give this place one last try as it used to be good. Ordered tie red they sent tie green. Said no salt. All I can taste is salt!!! The food is disgusting. I complained and the guy turned up at my door looking for a fight!!!

Food arrived on time but sadly an item was missing and when I called they denied it was on the order. Shame I was still charged for this missing item.

The Great Wall is such a great chippy the food is cooked to perfection. The chefs and staff are friendly and kind always have a helping hand and always making people laugh putting a smile on customers faces. The food is very tasty and cooked to the standards you want it to be! I now work there and love coming to work because they have a laugh and make me a happy person wanting be there with them when working. Also this opend a barrier for me to try traditional Chinese food which is now my favourite food. Finally I just want to thank them for being there for me and treating me like a family member 👌👌

The food is very good, love the chicken in batter with sweet sour sauce and Special chowmai. Definitely worth money and the delivery is fast.

The food is horrible , wouldnt recommend it .Expensive delivery and they pretend not to understand English if u ring to complain about the service . Very disappointed .
