So we called into this place after a long walk, purchased 3 drinks at the bar, this was halfway into a super strenuous walk. We thought we would support the local business. We took the drinks to the Garden, it was a lovely setting. Before we were about to depart, I thought I’d fuel up and eat my snack size toffee crisp (steep inclines ahead), only to be told by the landlady I couldn’t eat my chocolate on her car park, if I wanted to eat chocolate I should buy some from the bar. I would have had no issue with this, only the way in which I was spoken too was appalling. I mentioned it was a piece of chocolate, to a response of “I don’t care there is chocolate behind the bar. Now I could have been hypoglycaemic, thankfully I was not. Also whilst waiting at the Bar the landlady was heard slating a few tourists asking for Directions. “What part of right do they not bloody understand, Right at the milk Churn”. A group of Germans on Bikes probably wouldn’t understand. If approached different, I wouldn’t be writing this but this lady clearly doesn’t appreciate the £15 spent on a couple of drinks and doesn’t appreciate the visitors. If visiting, the beer is great but watch out for the Welsh dragon!

We had a delicious family Sunday lunch for four at this pub today. The starters and main were freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Mains arrived hot with plenty of vegetables and gravy . Sadly we couldn’t fit in the homemade deserts . The owners were very friendly and coped amazingly well given the high volume of walk-ins they had . Highly recommended and we will definitely be back

Great find when staying at a local glamping site. Lots of reading material and board/party games for groups to play. The two owners go above and beyond to make your visit that little bit better, even recommending me and my partner different walks we could do whilst local. Food was delicious and there was a large range of different meals despite being on a reduced menu. There's a large cosy beer garden in the back at the end of the car park. Card payments are accepted. The inn itself is decorated beautifully and has a unique layout. Definitely will be visiting here again if I'm in the area.

A change of ownership and as long term customers we wish the new team well - for both their sakes and ours. It's pleasing to report a good start. On a snowy day, we three were the only customers for Sunday lunch. The staff were great and the food pleasing. Two of us had a mixed meat terrine as a starter; one salmon. All enjoyable. Next were two beef and one lamb Sunday lunch. The meat was fine (difficult to serve exact rareness in the circumstances), the roast potatoes crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle, Yorkshire pudding crisp and proportionate, other veggies well cooked, including separate dishes of cauliflower cheese. All of it was enjoyably eaten. One query. I wonder about the wine prices. We had a bottle of pleasant red from the house list. It and others like it all appear to be £40 and change. Mmm. Might need to look at that again we think. We'll be going again though!

OMG, last night's steak was *chef's kiss* amazing! 🥩 Seriously, one of the best I've ever had. Five-star service at our work dinner made it even better ✨. #SteakNight #Foodie #FineDining

Unfortunately closed when we visited, but when we tried to park in the car park to go for a walk the landlord was quite rude to us, particularly when we had made an effort to park considerately and without causing inconvenience. It would be nice to go back at some point and try the pub itself, but a foul-mouthed, rude landlord is not a great advertisment for a pub closed under unfortunate circumstances!
