The Golden Dragon in Wigan

Golden Dragon is an absolute gem! The wonton soup is fantastic—rich and flavorful. Their homemade prawn toast and spring rolls are hands down the best I've ever had. For mains, the Wondering Dragon and curry dishes truly stand out as some of the best on the menu. The portions are generous and priced really well, making it great value. Most importantly, you can tell the chef genuinely loves to cook; the quality of the ingredients is top-notch, easily some of the best I’ve had from a takeaway. Five stars all around!

After the demise of the great Happy Valley in Aspull, we were left searching for good "non standard" Chinese takeaway. Then we found Lams in Arlington. Which sadly closed in January. Again leaving in search of the holy grail. It's about a 12-13 min drive to the golden dragon, so not exactly local but we have no good options anymore around Blackrod. I tried this place because of the good reviews on Google. I can honestly say this place is amazing. It has competitive pricing and everything was really good quality. Also the portion sizes were really large. We had the fried combo starter, which was really good. Beef satay, fried rice, chips and crackers. Was absolutely phenomenal. We found our new non-local, local takeout. Highly recommend.

1st time ordering from here, got to say it didn't disappoint. Food was really nice, hot and good portion. Best prawn toast and special chowmein we've had from a takeaway. Chowmein was nice because it wasn't overly greesy and wasn't floating in sauce but still lots of flavour. Nice prawn to toast ratio 👌! Everything else was also delicious. Will be visiting again! Thank you!

Since reopening this is my favourite Chinese. The prawn toast is amazing...

First time have used the golden dragon since the New owners. freshly prepared food was ready very quickly and good sized portions the schezuan beef could have been a bit spicier otherwise it would have been 5 stars , will use again.

New owners and the food is lovely,quick service even if have not telephoned it through and now also doing a delivery service I am sure they will do well.

First time I had a meal with new owners but very pleasant folks and food good (Fried Rice special). I say give them a chance to settle in but from what I experienced this evening I am satisfied

Shop has been closed for a while. New owners, ordered a Chicken and Mushroom with fried rice, it was so dry, tasted awful, only a couple of peas in the rice. Wont be going here again and go somewhere else. Shame the original owner had to retire and hope he is well as I have been going for years, but no more.

Had the special chow mein. Absolutely delicious. Huge portion and full of meat . The sauce was amazing. Won't be going anywhere else for that plate of happiness.

One of the best Chinese takeaways we've had! Beautiful flavours! Absolutely brilliant, Definitely recommended and will be returning again in future! Really reasonably priced for superb food and really decent sized portions! It's well worth the 15 minute wait because the food is delish!

Proper northern Chinese. Always a wait, which is a good sign I guess. Answer the phone occasionally would be nice though… Recommend if you have the time.

Great food but beware, it gets so busy you may not get through on the phone.

Just had the best special fried rice at this place in my life. Large pieces of pork and chicken on the top then beautifully cooked fried rice with an abundance of meats and prawns underneath. One review for this place said the salt and pepper chips were the best. They are. Nice crispy chips. Worth every penny

Nice curry sauce dark in colour, has a subtle kick.

I love this place! The staff are great and very nice for a start. Secondly the food is incredible always on point the only bad thing I have to say about the food is it can sometimes be a little too salty but no big deal. If you want good chips they do the best Chips I've had in Standish so far! There salt and pepper chips are THE BEST!! I don't think it takes credit cards/cash line cards so be prepared to pay cash. For a small chinese it does what you need it to do and more with plenty of choice at a good price, it has a nice atmosphere and seems to be quite clean. Hope my review helps 😁👍
