Absolutely fantastic place! The staff were so friendly, the food was absolutely incredible! Best Sunday dinner ever! And the atmosphere is lovely!! Couldn’t recommend enough! ☺️

Staff were so lovely and friendly. Food was amazing and atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. I want to say a special thank you to the staff for how accommodating they were towards my son. He has special needs and they were so kind and helpful when it come to feeding him. This is the 2nd time we have been and look forward to the next time too.

First time visiting with family and wasn't disappointed. I had heard some good reports about the The Ginger Dog and all were true. I went for Sunday lunch and it was The best! The roast pork was thickly sliced and yorkshire puddings were enormous and definitely home made. Vegetables were lovely and not overcooked. Deserts looked delicious and presented well. Staff were friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Prices were reasonable. We didn't have to wait too long for our table to be cleaned and ready and then we could be seated. I would recommend a visit, but booking is a must as it can be busy. I will definitely be visiting again. Visited last night for Dolly Parton tribute act. Food was in the cost £20, which was a Tennessee burger in a brioche bun, chips, salad and was absolutely amazing. Tribute act was good, she got everyone involved. She was on for about 50 mins then break and came back on for last set. Drinks were a little slow in arriving but it was very busy which was understandable. Ginger dog is well worth a visit.

First time here and will definitely be back when we are visiting family. This was the best Sunday lunch I think I've ever had. Bold statement but couldn't fault a thing. Really good quality food, cooked well, and well presented. Friendly, attentive staff. Great atmosphere. Lovely place.

I came in for a drag night a few days ago and it was phenomenal, came just before everything started for a few drinks and had some great chat with the staff, the feel and the music fit right in (which was changed as the night progressed for the show) and the food was great and well presented. Staff are lovely and it is so easy to have a good night in there, highly recommend!!

10/10 food was spectacular, and service was exceptional, Tracy was very attentive, making sure our table had everything we needed!

I went to The Ginger Dog for a lunch with friends. I had crispy chicken wrap with salad n homemade chips. The chips are just like "what mam usedto make" amazing. As it is now a pub we had a bottle of wine as would have been rude not to. The surroundings are lovely, staff friendly and welcoming, the young man behind the bar very chatty to everyone. If you thinking of a lunch time stop off or even a few drinks in the sun pay The Ginger Dog a visit there is a beer garden at the back.

I had my baby shower at the ginger dog and I cannot fault the service at all. I hired a room for 30 people with no cost, only paying for the afternoon teas we pre-ordered. The staff set up the room beautifully for the day with the decor and games I provided plus a balloon arch which I paid for and they ordered. The food was delicious and the staff worked so hard taking drinks orders continuously while also serving food. If anyone is looking for a venue for a baby shower then I 100% recommend contacting the ginger dog, they could not have been more accommodating and helpful!

Really enjoyed our meal here. It was very fresh and tasty. The place was very nicely decorated and the staff were excellent. Our server was a lovely girl, who made us laugh and feel at home. Definitely worth a visit.

We love it here, the food is homemade and really good and staff are friendly. Always recommend to friends and family. It's lovely to have a local pub that serves great food in Coxhoe.

Only moved to Coxhoe last year and I cannot recommend the bar/restaurant highly enough. So pleased this is on my doorstep. The staff are highly attentive and friendly. They make you feel at home as well as offering a special and professional service. Deffo our first stop now! I went for Sunday dinner yesterday with my family, the best one ive had for years. No wonder its always fully booked!!!

Food very nice although a little slow coming from kitchen depending on what you order, cooked fresh. Very tasty staff lovely.

Visited with my youngest daughter and her husband for Sunday lunch. I can't fault it (my opinion). I will be back to try something else.

Always first class food and service.

We stopped in on a whim on a Sunday morning in mid-December, and were incredibly lucky to get a table for lunch. We each had the roast beef (beautifully tender and tasty), which came with Yorkshire puddings the size of my head, roast potatoes, tons of different and delicious veg, and plenty of gloriously tasty gravy. For dessert, we had chocolate brownies with ice cream. I genuinely can't remember the last time I had a better meal, and having recently moved from down south, we were stunned at how reasonably priced it all was. The food came out very promptly when we ordered. Tracey was so friendly and checked in with us, making us feel really welcome. We'll be coming back again, and we're sure this will be our new default destination on date night or when entertaining guests.

Great place, service and Food. I had a Yorkshire Pudding Wrap with Beef, mushrooms and onion and my wife had the Butternut Squash soup. Fantastic. Highly recommend. Will be back soon.

Went for a meal for my brothers birthday, there were seven of us and the service was brilliant, very attentive and fast nothing was a bother and the food was excellent , will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

We came here for Sunday lunch and we're very impressed. The food was excellent and the team we're very helpful and friendly. My only reason for withholding the fifth star was that when booking we asked if they catered for vegetarians and we're told they did. When we showed up, the team genuinely did their best but they don't really cater for vegetarians

The food here is AMAZING! Everything we got was superb. Lovely place and staff were great too, very friendly. We had a bit of a wait for our mains but it was worth waiting for! The chef also came out herself and apologised for the wait and the owners kept asking if we were okay. Can’t wait to go back…..

Booked in for 5 people but the complete menu was not available. The food we did have was amazing. We will need to go back to try more.

We had a buffet from these guys at work today and all I can say is WOW!! The selection of food (savoury and sweet) was amazing. Beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and delivered by a lovely, helpful and friendly lady. Only slight niggle was no pickled onions (requested by a member of staff) but to be honest I would happily do without them for what we had. 😂😂 Worth every penny and will definitely be ordering again. We went on a Friday lunchtime. Wow, mega busy for a small bistro/ pub. We just managed to get a table, and we were a family of 3. The tables are close together, which is fine if you don't mind. The table service was very warm and welcoming, which is great as most places these days are just like factories with no emotions! The food and drinks were ordered, and after a short time the drinks arrived and about 30 minutes later the food arrived. We ordered a pork and Yorkshire pudding wrap with chips, 1 Margarita homemade pizza, and a Chicken,Bacon, cheese toastie with chips. Well, what can we say.... simply delicious. All food is locally produced and provided by an award winning butcher in Coxhoe. The price was £34 for all 3 of us, including the soft drinks. What I would say is, if you want to visit, book ahead to safe disappointment because you might not get in as it's a small venue. We were just lucky on the day. I only give the atmosphere 4 out of 5 due to it being very loud as the table behind us was being too loud.

We had our engagement party here last Saturday (26th august), everything was absolutely perfect! The food was amazing and very good value for 60 people, the staff were outstanding, very friendly and couldn’t do enough for everyone and the atmosphere is great. It’s a perfect place for an event or even just for food during the day or on an evening. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Called in for lunch with my mam and daughter. The food was delicious but the stars of the place are the staff, so friendly and helpful bringing my mam a cushion for her back, she is quite frail and felt the hard chair in her back. We will definitely be back. A gem of a place

Lovely food , good produce and really good staff.

Excellent place if you are wanting a drink and a bite to eat. Definitely not the cheapest but the burger I had was absolutely amazing and well worth paying a little extra for. The chips were also fabulous so I would be very happy to eat here again. The only disappointment really was that they only had Neck Oil as a beer choice. Not a deal breaker but a few craft beer cans or bottles in the fridge would have made the place even better for me. Service was friendly and absolutely superb. Will definitely visit again. Recommended if you are in the area.

I had been invited to this lovely establishment to share in the celebration of young David Foster , ( Y7 ) pupil at St Leonard's Durham .... his first holy communion had just taken place in St Joseph's RC Church directly across the road from this fine café / eatery about which I'm about to write this review ! This venue had been chosen by all of his family as the best possible place for the most tremendous post - service buffet one could have imagined. I have never seen a better , more imaginative spread of appetising food anywhere to entice the taste buds of the general public than was seen on Safurday afternoon , 10/6/2023. I have witnessed many fine buffets by the way in my 61 years but this took the biscuit !! Quiches , meat pies / squares , tasty sandwiches with varied fillings . These were examples of the savoury food on offer but very thoughtfully the staff began the procedure by serving food specifically directed at the children present ( not too many apart from centre - of - attention , David ) The follow - up sweet choices were equally impressive . Cream cakes and pavlova took centre stage !. All of these edible treats were washed down with either tea , coffee or a choice of diluted cordial. I was most impressed as an invited guest. David is a young member of the Foster household and I happen to be a Coxon , a close friend of the family. I know my recently deceased mother of 2 years would have been delighted to have been a part of Saturday but she departed this earth at an opportune time in terms of her advanced age and disability. To conclude , she would have been very proud that her best friend , Joanne ( David's mother ) had been instrumental in organising such a fitting celebration day for her son. Considerable praise to all staff members of The Ginger Dog for creating a superb setting for us all to thoroughly enjoy our Saturday afternoon. Regards Ellis Coxon.

Always greeted with a smile by Norma and the team. Service is excellent and is food is outstanding. We order a lot of meals for meetings and shutdowns and the food is always excellent. Great value for money. Highly recommend by all the team 👍

The Ginger Dog is a little gem, fantastic food and lovely friendly staff well worth a visit, my absolute favourite is their homemade chocolate cake.

Great asset to have in the village, fantastic food, great atmosphere and without doubt the best pint in County Durham, this topped with great service and run by locals is a must to visit 👍

The Ginger Dog is brilliant You’ll get an excellent welcome and a wonderful service at this amazing venue. The food is excellent and we are busy working through a very varied menu. Superb bar with great choice of drinks. In good weather there’s a great outdoor space for eating and drinking. Don’t take my word for it. Get yourself along and find out for yourself. 5 Stars!

Highly recommend The Ginger Dog. Great atmosphere, food awesome, staff very helpful and friendly nothing is too much trouble. Great venue for private parties or just to pop along and have food or just drinks. Entertainment/singers certain nights with reasonably priced tickets including food.

We visited the Ginger Dog last week with friends. The food was delicious and servings a good size. 4 out of 6 of us had dessert (,2 made off menu) and they were delicious too. I'm sure we'll be back very soon,!

Second visit to this wonderful restaurant, food, staff and ambiance just make this a great place to visit. Can’t wait to go back again
