Fabulous location. Food average. Expensive Service has no consistency . Staff really need some training & they need to look more professional Won’t rush back again for a while

Recommended to us by a local we were not disappointed. Decent beer and wine, seriously good food (especially the fish) and a smiling welcome from the young staff. To avoid what is often a pub food disappointment we headed back the next night and again ate very well though I will say a sudden rush of diners did put the staff under some pressure. Highly recommended

We arrived at The Gazelle for an early evening drink. As we entered we heard kids crying at both ends of the bar / restaurant area and thought we were in a Day Nursery. The panoramic views in the the bar were obscured by a family with young children playing noisily with wooden toys on the freshly sanded tables . We enquired about alternative seating but were told tables in the "Restaurant" were booked. Instead we sat in the Reception area . The staff were busy chatting at the desk. The place has lost its character and we did not enjoy our £15.70 round of drinks.

Front of house all kids, no apparent direction. Service not great and when I asked for the vinegar to be changed because it had bits floating in it I had a look of so what's the problem. Visited with grandkids which they accommodated with a change to the children's menu, however we had to ask for the children's menu! Will not be returning.

We have just spent Friday and Saturday at this wonderful hotel. The atmosphere was great and there was live music on Saturday which was amazing. Our meal on the Friday night was so nice, we had steak which was cooked to perfection and washed down with some fantastic wine. We had the street food that they had on Saturday and that was very tasty. The team are so friendly and attentive and we would highly recommend. Definitely return to the Gazelle.

We went with friends who had come to visit us on Anglesey.We had booked a table earlier in the day.We were shown our table ordered drinks and food. Food came but no follow up from staff. Had to go to find someone for more drinks to find young female waitress chatting with bar staff and oblivious I was there. We finished meal had to go to find someone to clear our plates and asked for desert menu. This time the waitress was on her phone.There were four of us but were given only one menu. Had to go again to find someone so we could pay. Explained thought the service was poor which was ignored, raised the point again and was told they were extremely busy. We had arrived at 7pm and there were a lot of empty tables.When paying the bill at around 9 pm we were the only people in the restaurant or bar so god help anyone when they are actually busy.No apology was offered and the female member of staff did not give a damn. We have eaten here several times but never again and it was embrassing for us as we had taken our friends there, Customer Service needs sorting ( the food is really good) and I would say there needs to be a manager or someone senior to ensure that diners are not left on their own.The only positive was I did at least not have to cook my own food or wash up afterwards.Please train your staff of the need for Customer Service and if a comment is made get them to acknowledge. Going forward the female waitress either needs retraining or letting go. A very unhappy ex customer

We visited here twice in the last week, the location is wonderful, lovely views and really chilled out seating area and bar outside. Only thing that bothered me was the bathroom, my daughter and I went in and the staff were directly outside smoking and it stank in there. Somebody on the outside shut the window too, perhaps they should find somewhere else, didn’t really appreciate a hand coming in to close it. No blinds on the windows too so you felt a little vulnerable knowing staff were the other side of the window.

We went for lunch twice whilst on holiday on Anglesey. It is situated right next to the Menai Straits ca 1 mile east from Menai Bridge. It is a really cosy and popular location, with a really good menu. The standard of food and service is really good- the Scampi’s we both had were excellent and reasonably priced. There are two Car Parks- one at the top plus a small one at the bottom next to the Inn. There is also off road parking on the Beaumaris Road. Can really recommend- the location and views of Snowdonia are superb- as is the food.

During our week on Anglesey we enjoyed an evening meal at ‘The Gazelle’ so much we also had lunch the following day. On both visits the staff we encountered from front desk, bar to serving in the restaurant were sociable, professional and helpful when dealing with questions or requests - qualities you don’t always find when eating out nowadays (or in the old days to be honest!). Our thanks in particular to Kian and the young man who served us on our Friday afternoon visit - unfortunately didn’t get his name. Food was also excellent. Highlights? Sea Bass was large, well seasoned, perfectly cooked with crispy skin and presented with Ratatouille, Garlic Roasted Potatoes. We also enjoyed Smoked haddock risotto topped by a perfect softly Poached egg (simple enough but so many places can’t produce one!) with rich yolk to fold into the rice. Finally, a well balanced and packed King Prawn and Chorizo with Mixed Leaf Salad, Peppers, etc and Fries was truly memorable. For us, one of those rare ‘we wished we lived nearer’ pubs.

Lovely staff, tasty food (especially the peri peri prawn starter), reasonably priced, nice atmosphere. I can’t fault it.

Very disappointing visit to what is usually one of our favourite places on Anglesea. The mixed roast was luke warm and the meats mainly fat and gristle This together with drinks having to be re ordered mid meal and the dessert menu being limited has made us re think our plans for a family celebration later this year.

Beautiful location lovely views. We had a sea facing room which was well appointed and spotless. The only thing missing was a hairdryer which I asked for and never received. The only downside was the long wait for food and they seemed to be very short staffed and inexperienced.

I called in at the Gazelle Hotel for lunch on a walk. I had an excellent lunch with steak pie, gravy & real veg: red cabbage, parsnips & broccoli. Good service, I will return. The Gazelle is in a great location with views across the Menai Strait. As it was low tide, I was able to walk along the shore from Beaumaris.

We had a lovely Tuesday evening meal for a friend's birthday. The food was really delicious. I found it slighly over-priced. Service and environment were good. Lovely and warm even by the window on a cold evening.

Great Sunday lunch. The vegetables were really tasty and good value! Merlot was lovely too. Beautiful setting right on the waters edge.

Beautiful setting for a very delicious birthday lunch for my husband, staying in the village for a long weekend away. Waited a while before our food order was taken despite being the only ones in the restaurant but it was definitely worth the wait, food arrived shortly afterwards all freshly cooked & tasted amazing, service thereafters was very attentive, friendly and we loved the food & place so much we are going back for Sunday lunch tomorrow!

My partner and I were staying locally, and decided to walk out to this place, to see what it was like. We had no table booking, but were made welcome, and over a couple of pints and a look at the menu, decided to eat. I had the Pork Belly, while he wasn't as hungry, chose to have a Small Plate Starter of Piri Piri Prawns with a side of chips. I polished off every morsal of my meal because it was so delicious, and my partner said the chips were amazing. We also loved the craft lager we had - Helles, from Germany, and enjoyed the general vibe of the place. It is in a gorgeous location which we didn't get to fully enjoy as it was getting dark and too cold in Feb to sit outside anyway, but I imagine this place is a stunner in summer. I can say that it was cosy and nicely decorated with lots of interesting pictures and sea/boat related paraphanalia that the landlord has collected over the years. We had such a lovely evening, that we decided to come back again the next evening ! This time I had the duck, and he had the Smoked Haddock Risotto - and again, we were really happy with our food. I come to Anglesey a lot, so I am amazed that we have never been to this pub before, but I suppose it is on the side we don't often visit. Now I know it's here, I think it is highly likely I will come back again with friends.

Room was beautiful and newly decorated. Staff were lovely. Bar on site and fantastic views. Also the bed was soooo comfortable. Couldn’t fault anything. Will definitely go back.

The Gazelle, Menai Bridge. After reading reviews, we decided to pop in. Never again :-( Very disappointed, we walked in with 2 dogs, 1 is medium,lab size and the other one is much large, both quiet and calm. First question from staff before we even said anything was, "Can they behave? do they get on with other dogs because there's other dogs so they will need to !!! " Shocked, "Yes ", I replied, " Toby, sometimes, may bark a couple of times when he first sees a dog but not always but otherwise, yes they do behave". The man then said " well, they had better" Then just scowled and gestured towards bar and said, " you'll have to go in the bar". That was fine, I was happy to sit anywhere, but don't make me feel like we have done something wrong when we have only just walked in. We went and found a table. Sitting in bar area were two other couples with dogs, the nearest lady looked up as we passed and put her hand by her dog and spoke to her dog before saying to us, "oh she can be grumpy" even though her dog didn't make a noise, no dogs even acknowledged each other. We spoke for a minute to her about dogs and then sat down. Our dogs then sat / lay down.We waited 5 or 6 mins and were badically ignored, a waitress even came to our table replacing condiments she had filled, as she went to walk away, we asked if we could have a menu, which she brought. A few minutes later they came back , took order, we decided not to have a main meal and rather have hot tea, soup and chips. There was no friendliness and the whole feeling was decidedly cool. Food served, no knives for buttering bread but no staff to be seen then and no one else eating in bar area by then. Food was mediocre, soup was awful, Chips were covered in black bits / eyes. No one checked how meal was.We were mid way through meal, both of us had put spoons down ( soup was half eaten ) and were drinking tea when waitress came over and said "have you finished" to my daughter who as she said said " well , I think ...."and before she could finish" the waitress picked up bowl and went to take chip bowl, still half full too , I was suprised, it was obvious we hadnt but quite honestly just went "oh, ok, yes then" . She picked up mine as well and left. No one came to see if we wanted anything else. I wanted just to go, It wasnt worth sitting there feeling so uncomfortable. We went to pay where staff were by front entrance and was told/ pointed to go back to bar area to pay, ( no one in there) waitress followed and as we stood there put bill on bar and said "have you already paid for drinks" we said we hadn't, no response she just she just turned her back and the re-presented another bill and the card machine.I paid. She then said "was everything OK" to which I replied, "no, not really," she didn't reply, so I then said " I dont think we'll be coming again" and she said "ok", no why, no sorry to hear that etc.just ok. No pleases or Thank you's when paying. We said, "Bye" , no reply , we walked past the other staff who were just stood there at the desk again by door and left ( no acknowledgement) . The dogs had been impeccably behaved as expected, throughout. All in all, it was disappointing, unwelcoming and basic food. If you don't like dogs.....or as we felt large dogs, say so. Definitely not dog friendly or for that matter people friendly!

Fantastic stay and dinner break. We live locally but love this place and more importantly it's very dog friendly. Amazing setting on the manai with amazing views of the mountains. Staff are extremely helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this hidden gem

This was our second time staying at the Gazelle. The views over Snowdon are the best you will find anywhere. The rooms are superbly decorated ( we’ve stopped in different rooms) .The food was delicious but a little on the pricey site but overall stay was amazing . So good in fact I’ve booked a room already for next years Marathon . All the staff were pleasant and delt with any issues . Well done all.

Had lunch there today in the bar food was ok but it was very cold in there no rads on and fire not lit staff walking round in short sleeve shirts but it was just not pleasant food goes cold quicker and we didn't stay we just left as soon as we ate shake really it seems to be a thing with pud's etc that they are cold and no heating on, also chairs are very uncomfortable no cushions just a wooden seat so bum got numb my husband sat on my coat.

A beautiful early Autumn sunny day perfected by majestic surroundings . Service was so special in welcome and serving. Our lunches were superb.Beautifully cooked and presentation 10/10 Excellent. This made our family get together really special. Big bonus too no competition with background noise or " music" Big thanks to all the Staff

In the middle of what could only be described as chaos one member of staff showed herself to worthy of her title supervisor or head waitres dealing with irate dissatisfied customers all round yet remaining polite professional and genuinely sorry for the events which were patently out of her control. (To show our appreciation of the effort we did leave a tip for the waiting staff )However once it did arrive the food was delicious (not quite worth the wait but very good!) and I would definitely recommend....one bad night can happen anywhere... try before you decry!!

A thoroughly disappointing evening that spoiled a family get together. From arrival it took us nearly 1 hour to get our starters, including a tiny plate of bread for a party of 5 people. The food itself was very ordinary and nothing to shout about, not to mention the limited menu (which is nowhere to be seen on the hotel website). 1h30 and we still had no mains, so we asked how much longer it would be. It then transpired that they had only 2 chefs working - if we had been told this on arrival we could at least have had the chance to prepare for a wait, or to have made other eating arrangements. As it was, 2 hours later we had had enough and decided to leave without our mains, after being assured it would 'only' be 10 more minutes (one customer had been waiting 3 hours to get their mains!!) Without any kind of management in sight, the waitress who seemed to be in charge was very apologetic and gave us our drinks and starters free of charge, plus a bottle of wine - an appreciated gesture, but the evening had already been ruined by then and the complete lack of communication or explanation up front was just unacceptable. We ended up getting a takeaway from Menai instead, a very, very disappointing end to what should have been a fun night out. The management need to have a serious look at their work practices and how they inform customers of potential delays, because after tonight I would not EVER recommend or go back to the Gazelle.

Oh dear , not sure what happened tonight based on past good reviews . Arrived 7.30 , no starter until after 8.30 We eventually left at 9.30 with no mains . Promised they were on the way twice then the final time we asked , they confessed it may take another 15 ‘minutes ( with some uncertainty) . Not charged for drinks or starters ….. but what we actually would have liked is just some honesty about the situation when we arrived . We could then have decided whether to stay or not and would probably have returned again in the future . Sadly now , this is not a place we ‘ll ever try again or recommend .

What a perfect experience. Sat by the water on a hot evening - incredible views over the Strait, lovely fresh fish (halibut) and THE most professional, polite, courteous young staff! One of your reviewers said 'it's not exactly the Ritz' - well no - it's a great deal nicer. Congratulations to the owner on having such a delightful place.

Called in for lunch with my wife and dog as we were impressed with the menu and the fact we could sit in the bar to eat with our dog. The pub was nice and quiet as most people were sat outside. The food was delicious, my wife had the fish and chips, I had the gluten-free smoked haddock and chorizo risotto, both we would highly recommend. The beer was a tad pricey but the view compensates for it. Service was quick and friendly, we would definitely recommend calling in and will be returning in the future.
