Great location next to the canal away from the hustle and bustle of Hanwells busy main streets. Great food, great value drinks and also a fantastic beer garden. It's well worth a visit.

I had a Sunday roast at Fox today, and unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. The chicken was very dry, the broccoli was undercooked, and the Yorkshire pudding was overly dry and crispy. My boyfriend tried the vegan burger, and it wasn't impressive either. The wait time was quite long, but we were told about this before so that’s ok . On a positive note, the service was lovely, and the location was nice.

I had one lousey experience... Over reacted when i should have booked ahead of time.... Fox is a Gr8 place to lunch and just pop in for a coffee and snack... Lovely efficient staff and fantastic hot nosh... I dig the Foxy Fox

Amazing food, drink and atmosphere

Can't fault this pub. The atmosphere is so nice, soon as we entered the outdoor seating area we felt a buzz, everyone was happy and on good spirits and lots of cute dogs around. The service is amazing and the staff are so friendly and polite. The food was delicious 😋 The grounds were kept nice and clean. Great pub.

First time here visiting my friend, went for a walk by the canals and stopped here for a bitw to eat. Lovely pub, perfect little local, the outside was buzzing but too loud for me, inside was nice, service was lovely, enjoyed our food. The chicken bites were delicious.

Our favourite pub in Hanwell — and that’s saying something! The food and drink are good but it’s the beautiful old building and its large, quiet beer garden that really impress. I can particularly recommend The Fox for hosting parties, we held a big event here and it went flawlessly thanks to the excellent staff.

My family and I visited The Fox in Hanwell for a Sunday roast and a few drinks. The food was incredible—delicious and generously portioned. The pub was bustling, which is no surprise given the excellent quality of both the food and drinks. The staff were attentive and friendly, making our experience even better.

i’ve yet to eat there, but this is one of THE most famous canal-side pubs in London. Because of its location, at the bottom of the Hanwell Flight, it is absolutely at the top of every boaters’ favourites list

Lovely old style pub with some wooden panels which were pleasing to the eye. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Food was good and well presented. We had a delightful evening.

Nice place with an English atmosphere with good beers

It is a great deal for me to go out to a place where i can eat with my dog. Specially when we face much discrimination (he is my assistance dog also) in must public places, but not in this pub thankfully, as it is dog friendly. Hence i keep this rating at 4 stars. It is also a great deal to me the places i choose to spend money and i hope that the management at this pub can improve the prediction of ketchup usage, so that there can be a constant availability of such a key condiment in the food industry. I am hoping that my frustration lowers in the next months and that i can revisit again, albeit next time i will check if there is ketchup before i order.

Beautiful little pub by the canal. Perfect for lunch before or after a nice walk. We had the Sunday roast and it was absolutely delicious. Even the veg were super tasty. Staff were very polite and friendly and happily fetch any sauces etc you might need (I asked for extra gravy and they were more than happy to being me a second jug 😀). Environment really cosy with traditional, interesting decor and pretty fairy lights at the windows. There is also a covered seating area outside under a marquee which looked lovely, though we didn't sit there. Seems to be dog friendly too (we don't have one but people next to us had one under the table) which is also fab for walks etc. Was our first visit, but certainly won't be out last ❤️

Lovely pub with a huge garden (covered in winter, uncovered in summer - and has outdoor toilets) and lovely on the inside too. Decent selection of drinks, nice staff and always clean and tidy.

The best roast dinner I have had in a long time.

Absolutely fab pub. Unfortunately I could only stay for one so I'm going to have to make an excuse to be back in the area.

Nachos and kids chicken meal was excellent. The staff/manager were very kind and generous and went beyond our expectations with a request we had too. Love the books in there too.

Used to come to the Fox a lot, 10 years ago, they have been busy and the place looks great. I was at a wake the Fox, keeped an area for us and did the food. I will definitely be going back 👍

Service here is excellent. Special mention to the young man behind the bar with the cap (sorry didn't catch his name). A kind and considerate gentleman, a rare commodity these days. You are a star!

Lovely traditional pub not far from the canal, with some good beers on tap.

The new arrangement of seating is amazing. Had a burger which was cooked as should be but tasted like cheap burger. Also the size is half of what is used to be but not reflected in the price. Disappointed and will not be going there again, at least not for food. 2023 August Decided to give this pub another go as location is perfect for me. Burger is still the same. Dry, tasteless, overcooked, had to search for the tiny piece of lettuce and a finger nail size of relish. Such a disappointment. What's happened to the great Burger you used to serve in 2019???

This a great pub for a rest while walking the Grand Union Canal towpath. Located about 2 minutes from the River Brent flowing into the canal. There is a huge beer garden with a second bar in the garden. Great selection of pale. The place is very dog friendly.

We were a party of 16 for a family get together. The very helpful and patient staff, gave excellent service. We were seated outside in the garden thankfully under an open sided gazebo that provided excellent shade from the hot sun. Most of us ordered the Sunday roast which I enjoyed very much. One point of note is that the accompanying sauces for the roast were left standing in open single serving containers outside in the garden. Perhaps it would be prudent to cover them as there were plenty of fly's buzzing around. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Didn't eat there as just popped in after bike ride. So can't rate the food. But but what i saw of service & chose of drinks l'm sure it's excellent.

Really love this pub. Such a lovely atmosphere and location quite close to the canal, and friendly staff. Food this time was good, but not excellent as it can be. Has a good selection of beers for most people's tastes. Lagers, ales and ciders alike. Had a Sunday roast so parking in the street was free as it was Sunday.

Haven't been for a while but was recently reminded of this pub. When I use to moor up my narrowboat in Hanwell, I used to go here regularly. It's surely in the top 5 pubs in West London. Great beer, lovely food and really nice staff. I can't imagine any of that has changed since I last visited. Which reminds me to go and visit next time I'm in London. Great place!

Visited for the first time with friends, had only a couple of drinks in the very pretty and accommodating beer garden. From the moment you arrive you can see a great level of detail has gone into making this pub a warm and welcoming experience from the well maintained flowers and frontage, to stepping into the pub via the beer garden, there is a great indoor decor with wood panelling, old books and pictures all add to the atmosphere. Not one detail has been overlooked. Was lovely to see some local products in hampers being promoted and sold behind the bar. Lovely to see they have free Wi-Fi available and publicised at the bar. The bar it’s self offered a wide range of draft beers, ales etc then a good selection of spirits with a number of specialty gins, rum, whiskey and more. Defo something for everyone. There were even some dog treats available on the bar and a water keg for dogs outside to allow you to top up a water bowl, again a lovely touch to include your four legged friends. Was lovely to see a number of dogs in the beer garden. The beer garden has a huge amount of seating, some booths which are under cover, open tables and chairs and even picnic benches. Really something for everyone. There were some great signage places where they’re actively encouraging engagement for their social channels. Nothing better than patrons promoting their venue with a great experience. Although we didn’t eat we saw some of the food on offer from an adjacent table, the burgers looked incredible. Had we have not just eaten an hour prior we defo would have not been able to resist. The pub is close to the canal so would be a lovely stop if you were passing through as a place to get a nice bite to eat and enjoy a couple of drinks. We were really blown away with the atmosphere, welcome and overall vibe of this place and we’ve already said we are looking forward to returning and next time getting a bite to eat. Great work and a big thank you to the management and staff, keep doing what you’re doing, as it’s superb. Massive and well deserved 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!

Nice pub next to the river also dog friendly, staff very friendly but the food is just terrible, everything seemed to come out the freezer from the potatoes to the veg,the viaduct pub does serve better food, extremely disappointed

Lovely location and great food. We had starters… good amount of food for reasonable prices. Beer is priced well and there is a lovely outdoor area. Dog friendly which is always a bonus!!

Giving one star only for the food. The pub is nice with a great outdoor garden and friendly staff. The food however was awful. We ordered a roast pork, a roast lamb and a cauliflower cheese. To start with, the pork wasn't pork at all, but gammon or ham, no crackling to be seen. The roast lamb was tiny and so badly overcooked. Topped off with what looked to be frozen Yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls from a packet (that paxo stuff), and probably frozen potatoes as well as they weren't not even remotely crispy, but soggy and tough. And I'm sure it packet gravy as well. Cuali cheese wasn't much to rave about either. Another table next to us when leaving said out loud "fish shouldnt smell like that", and judging by what they left on thier plates it can't have been good. Quite sad given that other reviews for the food here I've seen are quite good and the good looked good from thier pictures.

The Fox is a great pub in a really nice location next the the canal. Very popular with the locals and it’s easy to see why. Great cosy atmosphere inside but the outdoor space and garden is amazing. Perfect all year round but even better in the summer. An outdoor bar and service area. The staff all very friendly and helpful.

We've only been in for drinks but a cracking beer garden. What a place for a sunny Sunday getting wine drunk and building up some hangxiety for Monday morning.

The pub is nice, but people illegally smoke in the covered terrace, so you end up eating your meal while the smoke of the cigarettes come straight to your face.. not very pleasant.

Great pub. The beer garden is a real sun trap and perfect for having a few drinks with friends and family alike. Friendly staff and dog friendly.

Just been to the Fox and 2 seperate people who came to the bar after us got served so we spoke up and were berated by the male bar staff with dark hair, to have more patience. He then said the bar tender was in his first shift. We were then told if we did t like it we could leave so we did. I have been in this pub on other occasions and never had this experience. It’s very bad when you are treated like that. Maybe your staff need reminding of what hospitality means.
