Following your reply. Your statements are untrue. I did not have a problem with you picking up the items as you have stated. And the bag was not returned with empty boxes. The pizza box was empty and one of the burger box’s had no chicken in as I said my husband gave to the dog. My burger had one bite from it and the chicken strips were returned as were the majority of chicken wings. Your response is shocking that you would outright lie about the returned goods. Still waiting for a refund. And to say that the cook accidentally put chicken strips in is unbelievable at what point when they were putting it in the bun did they not look and say ‘oh that isn’t a chicken breast ‘ Shocking! We just paid £11 each for 2 burgers that were dry. And the tiniest bit of chicken breast. My husband ordered the mild I ordered the hot. No difference between the two. Pizza bland. Chicken strips sour and dry. Wings dry. £49 in total. Should have gone to McDonald’s. Awful

2024-08-20 time for an update Still a great place, we go perhaps every couple of months. They've tweaked the menu a bit. A couple of new vegetarian options. But mostly just delivering a solidly good experience, good food, good service. _________ Great new restaurant in Royston. It was busy when we went but service was fast and friendly. I like to judge the quality of a place by how it handles problems. My wife requires Gluten free and that often leads to mistakes. In this case a burger order arrived with a regular bun. However, when queried they immediately recognised the problem, and also noted they would need to remake the whole burger not just switch it into a GF bun. This was handled swiftly. I consider all this a great sign of quality. Mistakes are inevitable but how they are handled is what gives me confidence to return. My chicken wings and steak main where great. Can't wait to go back and try their pizzas. Update: November 2022 Still a great place. Good food, good service. Not the cheapest option but worth it. Glad to have this place in Royston Update: January 2024 A few tweaks to the menu since last I wrote. Still a lot of really nice options. Still on the pricey side locally but I'd consider it worth the money. Service continues to be good. Food is great.

Food is amazing, staff are always friendly and attentive.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon. It was empty apart from us ..waitress showed us to our table which was right underneath a speaker which was really loud. We had a baby in a pram. Took 10 minutes for her to come back to take our drinks and another 10 minutes for the drinks. When they took our food order, we sat And waited for an hour for the food to be brought over incorrectly cooked and items were missing. We explain to the waitress who was really nice and understanding. The manager was giving us dirty looks so we called him over to explain the situation. He denied that the food was cooked incorrectly. Even though we explained how we asked for it he was still trying to say that a well done, steak was cooked, medium, and a medium one was not cooked rare, we were totally leave and not come back and not to test him because he will lose his temper and we will be very sorry. Really really aggressive. AVOID THIS PLACE . Also, the toilet opens directly into the Restaurant

Inexperienced waitress, shown us to a table and walked away took 10 Minutes or more to wait for drinks order also to was waiting half hour or more for starters to come out then waiting another hour or so for main course steaks came out wrong asked for medium came out well done ask for medium well came out rare also missing a chips from one main called the manager over to explain food was cooked wrong but very rude and denying he denied food was cooked right and also wasn’t willing to negotiate ended up paying for drinks and kids meals was told just to leave before he loses his temper and I will be very sorry if I didn’t leave also was told not to come back but will never go back as food was not fit to feed my dog

Just had a take away from here had the cheese overload burger I'd highly recommend, burger tasted great nice touch with the brioche bun, love that it comes with a choice of skinny fries or chunky chips and a very generous portion nicely seasoned tasted great Would recommend 100% great value for money

went on Saturday night for friends catch up and birthday, first time there and I was well impressed. food was amazing, plenty of it. staff were brilliant and as it was a friends birthday they sent out a dessert with a candle and everyone in the place sang happy birthday. we had a lovely time and I will definitely be going back 😀

My hubby and I were looking for somewhere nice to have a lunch date for our wedding anniversary and came across this wonderful place. The food was amazing! Starters were great have never had such big Mozzarella sticks!! Steaks cooked to the way we like them and full of flavour! Service was amazing and to top it all of we were just about to pay our bill and they bought us out a complementary brownie with happy anniversary written on the plate. We will definitely be recommending this wonderful place to friends and family.

The staff were lovely and very attentative, the food I ordered was delicious and would happily have again the atmosphere was wonderful, the staff answered any and all questions I had respectfully and if they did not have an answer would check with the owner, the owner was very nice and helped me find a table when I first came in which I noticed was a running theme. Overall a great experience and would heavily recommend to anyone in, or visiting Royston and I would also recommend to anyone who can get there. The pricing is very fair and portion sizes were excellent.

Served partial raw chicken kebab, waitress asked if I wanted to upgrade my steak to surf n turf. I said yes and ordered rare steak and king prawns. Steak arrived medium to well done and they forgot the prawns, 5mins later they arrived.

Had a lovely meal here, I was a bit reluctant as my first experience food wise wasn't so good, but this time I was much better. The burger was lovely. The atmosphere was really good, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only downside for me is the price of desserts these days. It's quite excessive. Other than that I shall definitely return.

This place has a great vibe. Five of us went last night for food after some drinks. We had booked and it was busy. Really nice furniture actually. Very comfy. It prides itself on its meat and it didn’t disappoint. We ate well. I had a chicken burger (mango) which was really good. Better than most to be honest. Would go again!

Went to this lovely restaurant for a casual dinner on a weekday night. We had burgers and dessert. The food was excellent. The service was first class. Very attentive waiting. Small things like wishing you good night at the end and holding the door open for you was much appreciated. Their Melbeck is excellent! it would be good to see more local people supporting this business. There were not many people around.

The ventilation here is terrible, I will smell like fried chicken for 3 days

Went to Flintshack to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday. The lady who served us was very helpful, kind and attentive. They played happy birthday for her and brought her a cake with candle...which made mother very happy....oh, and the food was absolutely first class. Highly recommend

Great food. And good staff. But VERY expensive.

Food is ok but if you’re eating in the evening then be aware the heating goes off at 9pm and the place becomes freezing. If you’re looking for an evening with a bit of atmosphere then best avoid. I think the staff want to go home so subtly freezing customers out is a good tactic- to close the restaurant.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Came for my birthday found either glass or something sharp in not one but two of my meals that I believe was from the peppercorn sauce, they took the food away didn’t apologise or offer any explanation. Told the staff to take all the food we ordered away including children’s meals as didn’t feel safe to eat it after my gum was cut from the glass that was found in my food. Asked them to come back over to the table three times to sort it out they did not so we told them we are leaving and left the restaurant after almost a hour of waiting for some kind of apology and the Manger whom said he was Egyptian followed us out of the restaurant to the street we’re he stopped us and told us he knows what we did and that we won’t get away with it! Then snatched my phone out of my hand breaking my fingernail in the process and drawing blood from my hand and pushed me back literally assaulted me!!! He did this when I told him I have video evidence of all the meals and my cut gums that was visible and blood also on the napkins! My friend videoed the the whole ordeal and some the bar staff also videoed it and followed us to our car! I have never ever witnessed anything like it, it was absolutely appalling and so unprofessional I have never seen customer service like it absolutely disgusting I will be reporting it to the police. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. AVOID!!!!

Found glass in my food!!! Cut all my gum! No apology from staff no customer service whatsoever. Horrible staff, I have never seen worst customer service. Avoid unless you want a glass meal. 0 stars!!!!!!!

Went to Flintshack tonight for a family dinner at the end of our visit from Australia to the UK. To provide a bit of context without trying to sound like a complete tool, work sends us all around the world so we have eaten well in many countries. Tonight's meal (rack of lamb with a few bites of my sons rib eye and nieces beef shortrib) was in the top 3 meals of my entire life. Every aspect of the meat was superb. The mash was delicious, carrots superb and even the garlic bread was incredible. The waitress and waiter were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Chairs were uber comfortable, even the cutlery and glassware was impressive! I loved every bit of this. 6 stars out of 5.

A friendly welcome and good service ordered the ribeye when served it was smothered in a seasoning couldn't taste the stake nothing to say it would be served like that very poor please ask for ur stake with just salt and pepper seasoning next time asking the head waiter even though it was our first time dinner hear very poor

Good food nice atmosphere quite expensive though

Came here this evening 12 of us for pre Christmas Dinner food pre ordered , table booked for 6pm so early no one else in restaurant, it took an hour for any food to be served! All of us had roast dinners,beef ,lamb or chicken,none of it hot! Quality and quantity of food OK,but cold! Did complain,pigs in blankets not cooked properly either,ridiculous amount added to bill as service charge,had that removed,in all very disappointing, a simple meal ruined!

Ordered jd chicken bites, rice, salad and sweet potato fries. Service has always been excellent 👌 The food is always hot and tasty and good price. Mo, is always welcoming, kind, caring and friendly. He understands my needs and has always been willing to help. Very welcoming and friendly staff.

Had a fabulous night at the Flintshack last night with friends. Fantastic service, lovely food and a nice bottle of wine. Very nice atmoshphere, would highly recommend. I had the Chicken Shish which was delicious followed by the Cherry Bakewell Cheesecake, which was really yummy! I had read reviews which said that the food was expensive, we did not find this, the portions were huge and really worth the money!

Steaks are amazing, service excellent and the place is really clean. Had a great evening and will be back soon 🙂

Nice night out, tomahawk was impressive

We live locally and hadn’t yet tried this place. Had heard mixed reviews but we had left it last minute on a Saturday and this was the only place in town with availability (alarm bells should have been ringing then, in hindsight!). We arrived and were the only people in the restaurant, which was intense and made for a pretty poor atmosphere. There was a young woman serving who was friendly and efficient. The menu was huge! So confusing as to what this restaurant is trying to be… steakhouse? Kebab shop? Having hospitality experience, I know that no kitchen can cook this amount of dishes fresh or well - it’s too much. The food was awful and so overpriced. The lowlight was a lamb kebab which was served on a hook, too tough to eat, dripping garlic butter all over a couple of limp lettuce leaves. It was £25. Would not recommend wasting your money here - there are plenty of good alternatives in the local area.

Surprising find! Well thought out menu items. I really appreciate a menu filled with fresh, flavorful and unique ingredients, rather one that relies on heavy seasoning and over-salting. Had the rib-eye, which was cooked to perfection. Topped it was garlic butter and got portobellos instead of fries. The steak was JUICY and the fat was sweet and succulent. The Taste of Latin America was also bursting with flavor! If I ever find myself in Royston again, I’ll be back!

Don’t bother even thinking about eating here. I ordered a takeaway for me and my son on a Saturday evening. I ordered Mac and cheese, the cheesy wrap and chips. Was delivered in good time but when dishing up noticed it was cold, the chips were floppy and hardly cooked, the Mac and cheese was absolutely terrible, cooked in the tin container it was so over cooked there was no sauce just Cloggy pasta. I rang the restaurant and was told they could replace the food, I said is the food going to be any different or are we still going to have the same problem, she said it would be better and she would check back in with me. The 2nd delivery turned up, yes it was hotter but the food was just as bad. I rang the restaurant a 2nd time to ask for a refund, was told the manager Mohammed wouldn’t give me a refund because they had already replaced the food, I said to her that when I rang the first time a refund wasn’t given as a option so how was I to know. I said ok that’s fine I will personally bring the food back and show the manager up in front of his customers. She said she would go and get him to ring me…. Wow when I say this man had anger problems I’m not exaggerating. Told me I was wasting there time and there wasn’t anything wrong with the food, and apparently if I dig deep into the max and cheese the sauce would be there… told him I would bring the food to him so he could see for himself. He replied that’s fine turn up at my door and I will be waiting for you!!! He was really aggressive and just shouted over me the whole time.. he also threatened me with the police… What a man…. How on earth do people like this manage to run a restaurant… Waste of time, waste of money. Watch your back if you complain. The way he reacted tells me I’m definitely in a long line of people who have complained.

Good atmosphere but terrible service. Drinks came out quick but the mains to at least 40 mins. The food quality was not worth the wait my pizza was not nice and was grim didn’t finish it. Worth going for drinks but it is not worth it for food

My second review for this restaurant after we decided to 'give them the benefit of doubt' following a previous poor visit - things appear to have declined. I gave a two star review last time and this time it will be one star. Drinks and starters were delivered promptly but we then waited 1hour and 15 minutes with no main courses delivered. We asked for the bill and were then sent a third round of drinks which we didn't order. After 20 minutes the bill still hadn't arrived. I spoke to the manager, who claimed he had spoken to all other guests who were happy, this appeared to be an attempt to diminish my complaint. Complaint resolution techniques seemed to revolve around not accepting fault and becoming irritated with me. We paid £25 for two pints of beer and a glass of wine (starters provided gratis) and left. Overpriced, poor service and poor complaint resolution. I won't be going here again and would advise anyone booking for a special occasion to be wary.

Best fried breakfast I’ve had in Royston. Only a 3star for atmosphere as we were early and there were no other diners. Staff were lovely and friendly. Breakfasts all freshly cooked to order including a stack of delicious pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Coffee was excellent.

I had the tomahawk was delicious, cooked medium as requested. I wasnt too keen on the fact it had be sliced open in numerous spots but i imagine this is to ensure heat gets through as was such a thick piece of meat. Comes with chips and nothing else would expect even a decorative side salad maybe or something? Especially for the price. Just little things that stops it getting 5 stars from me but still deliscious meal would happily return.

Amazing burgers , enjoyed the dirty Karen a delicious cheese sauce , seen some reviews regarding the atmosphere and personally could not fault it, very good service and would definitely go again.

First time trying Flintshack and it really was bizarre. My partner ordered the jack Daniels chicken strips as a main. When it came the chicken strips were actually whole chicken breast fillets. There were six of them. That's right, six chicken breasts for one person. They were piled so high he couldn't see over the plate. The sheer volume of food was absurd. And that volume of food unfortunately instantly put him off. So he ate just the one chicken breast and was then done. My meal, a chicken kebab, was £5 more expensive than the chicken strips yet barely one piece of chicken breast cubed and cooked. The dish itself with chips, salad and some cut up bread was OK. But at £21 felt over priced and underwhelming. Sadly we probably won't return which is a shame.

As embarrassing as it is but I actually had to spit my food into my hand in-front of my husband. I ordered the chicken burger with onion rings on top. First bite and it was just soggy cold batter no onion soaked in cold oil! Confirmed by the waitress who did apologise but unfortunately it tasted so awful. I then looked at my chicken burger which was so over cooked and the batter mix was so hard it was enough not to eat any of my meal. I was offered a replacement but after looking at my husbands vac packed ribs I decided against chancing another meal. Absolutely shocking place

Food was excellent, tasted delicious, 6 people were in our party and everyone thought there meals were great. The service staff were brilliant, worked really hard, were great fun and we were really impressed by them all. The only negative we had was the 10% service charge added to the bill, which was £27. Whilst we decided to pay it, it definitely will make us think twice about returning.

Really wonderful food, lovely atmosphere to the place. Just great all round, I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious food, bit pricey But great service. Very tightly squeezed in which was difficult with babies in our party. Loved the complimentary Prosecco for all the mums and the Mother’s Day cookies. Food presented beautifully and all staff were great. Need more toilets. And we all came out stinking of fried food. Either the filters in the extraction fans need cleaning or just a better system needed? Good selection on the menu. Kids menu was better value than the main menu.

Ordered food to take away, firstly it’s very over priced our order came to £54 and the only thing we could actually eat was the Mac n cheese. Got the jd chicken bites and they were rock hard, and pretty much hollow, chips weren’t really cooked and the cheese sauce was lumpy no dressing on the ceseaur over all really really disappointed!

Worst meal I have ever experienced Steak house that can’t cook a rare steak! Booking made week before told upon arrival that no booking for a table of 7 advised we could only have a table if we could eat within an hour! I waited 40 minutes for replacement and no show everyone else had finished their meals! I went to complain but was told my meal was coming so I advised I wasn’t prepared to eat alone ! As a business owner within the current climate the Filntshack should be 100% all of the time. We were offered a free round of drinks but this realistically wasn’t enough for us as people had travelled for the birthday celebration which put a downer on the occasion

Went for family birthday, Burger turned up half the items missing, Prawns very very over cooked. Kids pizza cheese was awful Have eaten better pub grub (and a lot cheaper) and when I spoke to them about the issues got told new training chef !!! Not sure that a good enough reason for high priced food to come out so bad Everything just deep fried Defo won’t be getting our custom again £180 bill so would expect a bit better than what we got I’m afraid

Excellent service, good portions and tasty

Worst sausage egg and bacon baguette ever. When waiter brought it over it looked lovely. I was looking forward to eating it. As soon as I tried to eat it I realised the bad choice i had made. Baguette was brick hard, 1 sausage, egg mashed into tiny pieces, slither of crispy bacon and a tiny piece of black pudding. Bland and tasteless, has the chef ever ate this? I doubt if he had he would hang himself in shame. It may have looked good on the plate but didn't taste good and was definitely not worth the money.

Great atmosphere in this place, the decor is lovely and modern and friendly staff. I had the JD chicken strips - where okay but nothing to overly write home about (do not taste like other restaurants ones) but still nice! I also had mozzarella sticks to start which where lovely and a big portion! The drinks are slightly over priced for me personally. This isn’t the cheapest place you’ll find in Royston but the setting does set it apart from other places. The food came quickly and I was able to book a table on the day.

Great food, highly recommend the shish kebabs as they are visually stunning to look at, with large pieces of chicken. Ordered the PB&J burgers which was tasty, burger was cooked to medium, only downside, more a preference, was the burger was drowned in cheese, so was hard to taste the peanut and chili jam. Food was quick to order and to be served, with waiting staff being attentive to needs. In all, a main, starter and drink is around £30.
