Me and my wife had a brilliant service by Owen and Cameron, both were very helpful and knowledgeable about the food definitely be back thank you boys

Wednesday 24th April around 5pm we got served by a lovely man who was working completely on his own at busy hours still making sure that all the customers came first. thank you so much really appreciated.

Popped here on the way home. I had the quesadillas. They were actually really good. I got extra guacamole too. Service was quick but also no one less was ordering. The food was good and filled me up. It’s a service station so marked down the atmosphere but this place is good. Would go again

Travelling up and down the country daily and tonight staying at the Days Inn I popped into the services next door for some well deserved food. Fancied something different and went for El Mexicana. Can’t remember what I ordered but it was absolutely delicious and whilst my food was being freshly prepared I got chatting to Cameron, the guy making my food.. young lad but friendly as hell with outstanding customer service skills, El Mexicana he’s an asset to your business and your food is fabulous. I’ll be back another time for sure.

Delicious first experience i had a kids meal burrito and chips and it was delicious. Full of flavour the pulled pork with salsa and the chips super tasty. I will be definitely coming back to try this place again.

Nice to have some Mexican food nearby as there isn't that many. Fairly costly, however decent portions. Service could be quicker, though fairly it was busy.

Great Mexican food with generous portions at a decent price. The burrito is huge and you can choose what fillings you want for it. Same goes for the fries and Nachos.

Very small portions of mediocre food, and that's what actually was delivered... Order was missing a burrito and ruined dinner plans. Called the restaurant and we were told it was theft by the driver. Odd that he would take the smallest vegan option from a sealed bag. Regardless wouldn't bother again

food was lovely, however very expensive for what you get - I ordered off deliveroo and the loaded nachos were £9.50 for a very very small portion - didn’t get the sour cream I ordered and was kinda cold. Considering I ordered nachos I also expected to get more than about 4. Would try again but quite disappointed this time.

We thought the food might be so and so ? But we where wrong, Everything tasted really good and fresh, I tried the inferno sauce/salsa and it is hot very hot, Very pleasent staff as well Well worth a visit if you are passing or a take away.

I bought a quesadilla to take back to our camper van. It was very tasty but nothing like a real Mexican quesadilla. The real thing is cheese, and maybe chicken, sandwiched between two tortillas and served flat, sometimes cut into triangles, but this was full of peppers, onions, chicken, salsa, cheese etc and folded into a pocket to hold in the hand. It was really nice, and I'd order it again. It just wasn't what I thought I ordered on the day. Please rename this product - it is really good, but it's not a quesadilla.

So originally discovered this place at Luton Airport, and as I loved it so much I decided to find one which is accessible for people who aren't travelling, although the food itself was bang on amazing I would like to warn that they don't have the new menu, meaning no loaded chips and a few smaller changes. If you don't mind that then I would definitely recommend.

The lady who served me was rude. The rice was totally uncooked. When the rice was shown to the lady, she offered to make another one but it wasn’t made properly either. Very bad experience!

I feel like there's potential and I just got unlucky.. Service was terrible, the girl who served me was blunt and quite rude. They had run out of several ingredients and instead of informing me, made my meal with missing ingredients. Burritos were cold and soggy.

Cold chips, burrito, quesadila and churros, the churros weren't cooked properly was very pale in colour. I wouldn't recommend going.

Severe lack of Mexican food options round this part of the map. However this place does great burritos.

Decent Mexican food, served fairly fast. If you order the Mexican fries ask for them first as they are super hot in temperature. This gives the fries a while to cool whilst the burritos/tacos/quesadillas are made. Also the portion of fries are very large. I ordered the smallest and there were loads. Prices are ok but not super cheap .

Expensive adequate quality food. There are better places to eat at the service's.

3 times they haven't had what i ordered online, still took my money and offered substitutes only at my expense but absolutely useless when all substitutes contain meat or dairy and 2 out of the 4 eating are vegan. Update your stock checks and stop taking money forr orders you can't process. Sidenote staff are friendly just screwed over by policy

El Mexicana is by far my favourite restaurant at Baldock Services. On the occasions I have been been staff have always been pleasant. This time, was even nicer, the gentleman - who I later found out was named brad- made my burrito perfectly, making sure I had everything I wanted. 10/10 service. Its hard to come by genuinely nice workers who care about what they do, and Brad certainly did. I hope in future when I visit, Brad will be there again. Well done El Mexicana.

Was very disappointed with todays burrito. Was not hot or even warm, wrap was soggy. After preciously having some excellent burritos this has left a sour taste in my mouth!

Really good food at an affordable price made in front of you, exactly to your taste.

The food was fridge temperature cold! Despite living 5 minutes away, had to microwave the food. Took a long time to get served and struggled to communicate the order.

I really enjoy the food, go as a regular treat 2-3 times a month. Staff are efficient and make an effort to be friendly to me and my daughter whenever we visit. The queue is always less than the other fast food choices.

Best food you can get in the service station, big portions couldn't finish the burrito, churros were yummy!

Good food but a little pricey and I I think the portions could be a little bigger but I still seriously enjoyed what I had. Definitely would recommend giving it a try if you're on the fence about it.

Always a great place for a quick fairly healthy bite. I feel it is under appreciated as there never seems to be any queues there.

New review: Update, so I haven't been here since April due to the poor quality when I used to be a daily customer beforehand. I've given them another try today to see if there is any improvement. Lovely service today and a very tasty burrito! Thank you to the young lad behind the counter who's restoring my trust in the brand. My only complaint today would be to ask if you can monitor the fly situation as its not attractive seeing flies on the food that's not covered. I've increased my review to 3 stars and will adjust accordingly to each visit. Original review: Used to be amazing until change of manager. :( Hopefully gets better over time. The portion sizes are smaller now and staff are not trained to deal with points or discounts. Doesn't feel like you're getting your money worth anymore

Ate a burrito from here at the service station. It was average but from someone who has travelled Mexico and South America extensively, it does not even come close to the real genuine thing. It bears very little credibility to be even marketed as Mexican food and if these burritos were sold in Mexico City or Guadalajara, you would be told in no uncertain terms how bad it was as it is thrown in the bin in front of your eyes. Also, to add insult to the injury already caused by this tacky imitation of Mexican cuisine, they also butchered the whole Spanish language by calling the place “El Mexicana”, WHAT? Any Spanish speaker will tell you that this sounds not only strange and mildly amusing but completely incorrect. The appropriate and correct name would only ever be “El” Mexicano or “La” Mexicana. Who ever named this restaurant really needs to attend two Spanish classes and learn this very basic principle of definitive articles before think they are Pablo Emilio of Mexican Cuisine in the UK and proceed to make a mockery of a language that Mexicans are proud of. Don’t be fooled by this restaurant and believe it holds any credibility or genuine knowledge of true Mexican cuisine! Any of you who have visited Mexico can already tell they are worlds apart in similarities. And hey, if they can’t name the store correctly, then how can you trust that they can make Mexican food correctly. Avoid! The Nachos were quite nice.

Great food, specially enjoy the fact I can customise the burritos to my taste and needs, the sweet potato fries are very nice and last time since it was a warm day, I've tried the non alcoholic mojito slushie, so refreshing! It's not cheap but the burritos are quite big and filling. Very much recommended.

Lovely mexican food and not much waiting to be served.

First time visiting here. Walked past several times so thought that we'd try it. Pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality, but drop a star for the price. Especially when it's in such close proximity to so many other fast food outlets who are cheaper. We didn't think that the cost justified the product. If it were a couple of £'s cheaper we would definitely go back regularly. Apart from that, i would definitely recommend it.

Food is SO bland and overpriced! They offered me sour cream and cheese to which I said no, they then said would I like guacamole instead so I said ok. When got to salad I asked for sweet corn they said that would be an extra 35p or something stupid considering you’re already paying like £6.60 for nothing but a wrap with veg chilli in it for my case. When I went to pay he told me the order was over £7 to which I asked why, he said he had charged me extra for the guacamole even though he never mentioned this would cost extra and he offered it as an alternative as I couldn’t have cheese or sour cream. The wrap was cold and not pleasant to eat. No flavour whatesoever and is an insult to Mexican food. Also gave me awful stomach ache. Will never eat from here again!

Alright food for a service station I guess, the wings are abnormally small. It is also expensive for such a small establishment. I would just go to McDonald's next door, there is no real Mexican flavour at all.

Awful awful food, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED An insult to all Mexican food. The staff did not know the menu, the food was cold and the Tacos had hardly any filling. Had to push to get them filled with food. The nachos were cold with un-melted cheese. You should be ashamed. The food only good for the bin.

Food was good but our being there and ordering food was a huge inconvenience to the two staff members. Rude and zero hospitality will mean we won’t be going back.

Fast, nearly authentic Mexican food.

Nice service, nice employees, nice atmosphere, churros were raw on the inside, I took them back and someone higher up made me new ones that were equally as raw inside. Got a refund as they weren't edible

Wonderful food presented beautifully. All fresh and great tasting. My son and I eat here all the time when passing through. He and I love Mexican food and this place is just great. The staff are always cheerful.

Stopped here at Sunday lunchtime just starting to get busy but the service was both friendly and very well conducted. Food hand made at the counter and plenty of questions to ensure everyone had exactly what they wanted. Great food - far exceeded what I expected and everyone in my group felt the same - would stop by there every day if it was closer. Thanks!

Stopped by on a lunch break. Service was quick, and the food was amazing value. I had the largest burrito you could possibly imagine and was not disappointed!

I've been a couple of times now to El Mexicana, and I've even altered a route so I can get some decent gluten free food. I have to travel quite a bit for work, and being able to have something for substance that is gluten free is a bit of a treat. It bewilders me why the "big" fast food chains are so popular in places like service stations when you can get really good food in places like El Mexicana; my bonus is that a lot of it is gluten free. I look forward to eating with them as they provide a good gluten free option. El Mexicana please don't change what you do, as there are a lot of us out there that need good places to eat when we have to travel around the country.
