The Fig Tree in Malvern Hills

Has been up and down over past five years under different owners. Now on good for.m Strong on all day breakfasts and tapas. Almost perfect except for a rather pallid sausage and a rather solid chocolate tart. Nice surroundings. Good service. Gents toilet let down by a scruffy piece of string to switch on the light.

I took a visiting friend here and we were very impressed with the food. I had been before. We opted for the small plates, which are six and have various offerings, such as calamari, king prawns, belly pork, fish tacos, falafel and patatas bravas. Great for gluten free and you can take your dog, who was very welcome.

This is a gem of a place, tucked away from the street it has a nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was excellent, very tasty and good portions. There was plenty of choice for my husband who is gluten intolerant, he ordered from the tapas menu. I had the deli salad which was delicious.

Lovely little restaurant in centre of town. Sat outside. Friendly service. Good salad and fish. Reasonably priced. Range of people here- families, friends, couples.

Great food, friendly staff dog friendly and allergy aware. Fabulous ! We are a family of 4 with a coeliac and a dog. Delighted to find this little gem with a beautiful menu and lovely deli next door. I had the falafel baguette, my coeliac son had the tapas belly pork and calamari and declared it “unreal”. Husband had the deli meat platter We are all stuffed and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had scrambled egg on toast and poached egg on toast ,both came served in a bowl on one piece of toast.tasteless hard poached and not worth the money ,won’t bother again

Having eaten here a few times we decided to see if they would be happy to allow us to hire the entire venue for a private 50th birthday. They were very accommodating and we met the plan the event and menu with the owner and chef. The event went so smoothly and was such a success, the atmosphere was perfect, the food exemplary and staff were really friendly and helpful. Everyone had an amazing time and were all very complimentary.

I've been here 3 times now, on various occasions (staff party, date with my partner and afternoon tea on mothers day) and every single time I have had the most wonderful, genuine and enjoyable experience. My mum absolutely loved the afternoon tea - such a wonderful idea and beautifully presented. Service is so so lovely, nothing is too much trouble and you are never rushed. The food is fresh and tasty. I have been back several times and will continue to do so :) 10/10.

The food and service were both very good. However, the menu is somewhat reduced from the (current) one online, such that the food items I'd chosen at home were not available. This is disappointing.

The food is AMAZING here and the service superb - Sara was an excellent host and we saw she looked after everyone dining with a great smile, politeness and I hope will get a bonus for Christmas :-) . We will be back for the tapas, Japanese street fries and pork belly bites - and the obligatory toffee pudding which was delectable. See you again soon!

A lovely cosy restaurant. In the centre of Malvern, close to the Malvern Theatre and many other amenities. Ideal after walking the famous Malvern Hills or after visiting many of the events held on the show ground. Dog friendly, spacious enough to feel private. Wonderful tasty food with flavours that linger. Staff friendly, yet professional. Highly recommend a visit. Breakfast menu wonderful too.

Enjoyed a pre theatre meal here. The staff were friendly and efficient. I had a Japanese style chicken burger that was really good. Very tasty with crispy coating. The tapas on other tables all looked lovely too…might try next time.

My friend and I had delicious main courses and puddings. The place was busy at 6pm but the 2 ladies provided excellent attentive service . Compliments to the chef for the great food and menu choices. Highly recommended.

Arrived for dinner - booked table for 7.45pm. Sat with drinks and bread and olives mulling the menu and looking forward to an evening of chatting and eating leisurely. When we ordered we were told the kitchen closes at 8pm so you need to order everything you want now because you can’t order anything later!! Seriously?!!! Needless to say we left and went over the road to Bar Limon for a leisurely non rushed evening!

Due to the tucked away location we kept forgetting to try this place but glad we finally remembered! Lovely warm welcome before being seated inside (2 levels and it's quite small but cosy). There are some tables in the courtyard and I'm sure it would be lovely on a dry evening! We tried the tapas as starters and really liked the tortilla and chorizo. We opted for the cheese & bacon and gochouchang chicken burger (excuse the spelling!) and both were really tasty, the belly pork on the chicken burger was really good. Nice choice of cocktails and bottled beers and reasonable prices for food & drink. We will definitely return (keen to try a brunch!)

Went for a last minute supper to The Fig and were given a very warm welcome by the staff and offered great outside seating. The menu had a great range of options and when we chose all the food was superb - fresh and cooked brilliantly. Great experience

Busy but indifferent slow service with reasonable food ( if you don’t mind unacceptable waiting times ) After complaining that the food service was a lot slow than was reasonably accepted I was informed that there was only one chef in the kitchen that night !! Deserts would take at least thirty minutes if ordered so best we didn’t . What a poorly managed place that needs a serious input from the owners to train the staff, check coverage with sufficient chefs on duty and ensure enough product is ordered to ensure , as happened to us there are no dishes unavailable due to shortages . Not recommended and am surprised at the large amount of clients there as I could name at least two superior places to eat.

Secluded courtyard setting, which felt cooling and calm on a very warm day. Very good, tasty, well prepared and cooked food. Great burger, and great lamb flatbread. The service was a little slow, and fries were initially forgotten, but this will come with practice. The signature fig relish/sauce is a delicious change. Drinks are interesting and fair value. Meats were cooked beautifully. Not sure why but the only mayonnaise they have is vegan - it’s not about the taste or ethics - but if it’s bought sauce just have the two options. The team at The Fig seem to care very much about quality and value and it shows - yum!

We visited the Fig after an afternoon at the Malvern Theatre. Not disappointed as the proprietor was friendly and helpful and the food was very good. I had their burger which had a fig chutney which went really well with it. My wife had the steak which was good and tender with a lot of flavour. Overall would thoroughly recommend. We sat outside which is a lovely setting, down an alley off of the road

A lovely evening and food was exceptional and quick service for drinks. Mixture of Tapas and pasta chosen. The steak was so tender would recommend . Very busy we sat inside but outside looked really pretty.

Hidden down an entry off Church Street. Run and staffed by really lovely, friendly, helpful people. I can't ever remember having had a better lunch cooked by somebody else. Go there. sit in the courtyard under the fig tree and drink wine and eat tapas. Or methedes. Or both. We did. It's true what they say about bees, rooks and fig trees- they only flourish where there are good people.

Was disappointed,after reading some great reviews went with family. Ordered a variation of tapas dishes to share. Beef was chewy, it was clear a lot of the side dishes were freezer party food including stuffed mushrooms they were not freshly made. It was meh not the worst I've ever had not the best, would I go back no. The Japanese loaded dirty fries and the really hard working staff are it's only redeeming quality.

We were visiting Malvern for the day and found this hidden away down a side street. We were excited to find out it catered for Gluten Free diners as I am GF so decided to have lunch here. I saw Gluten Free Peroni on the menu and was so excited. I ordered the GF Peroni and proceeded to order all GF food stating I had an allergy. The drinks came out, following by the food after a bit of a wait (we were told about this so not an issue). Half way through the meal I started to feel unwell. Upon closer inspection I realised I had been given a normal Peroni and not GF as ordered. I panicked as I could feel a reaction beginning after consuming Gluten from the beer. I asked the staff immediately whether this was a normal beer which they confirmed and they bought be some water and told me not to drink anymore. When I asked how this had happened they said it was just a mix up. I explained my allergy and I didn't feel well and the response I got was really upsetting. They said all they could do was apologize' and then just took the drinks off the bill and said no more, took payment and left us to it. There was no ask around the seriousness of my allergy, am I ok etc. For a restaurant that heavily advertises they cater for GF/allergies I was really angry my allergy had not been taken seriously and there was little due diligence done to ensure my drink was not as ordered. Really disappointed with the experience I had here and how such a serious accident was not taken seriously by the restaurant. This had a massive knock on effect on me the next couple of days as I became ill.
