The Fat Batard Bakery in Scottish Borders

Wow I am scone snob! My mum bought me on on recent visit to Peebles and wow it didn't even need butter! A fruit scone with plenty sultanas. Lovely!

Came across this amazing bakery by chance when walking up from the river. The name intrigued me and went in for a look. Love sourdough so was in my element. Bought bread, raspberry cream brioche buns which looked amazing and tasted divine and sourdough lemon drizzle loaves. Love lemon drizzle but these were to die for. Will definitely return to buy more of the amazing items for sale.

One of the best Bakers, in the west/ East of Scotland, Bread , and cakes that are out of this world, perfection, from an individual Baker, Gluten free if required.

Amazing products and friendly service. Sourdough bread, Focacia, Baguettes, seeded Bagels, sweet and Savoury Danish, the most amazing doughnuts ever, with changing fillings, the filled sweet Cruffins are a delight, so are the Portuguese Tarts. I can't praise their products enough. You won't be disappointed! Hidden away down the School Brae just off the High Street. Don't miss a visit from 10am Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Great little bakery! We bought a loaf (chilli), and a pear danish - both great. Friendly service, and extra points for the name!

Lovely little bakery with delicious bread and treats. Only available on some days which is a pity as the breads are really good.

A real gem, open 3 days a week, tucked away on School Brae. The best bread ever, organic, wholemeal, sourdough, and some vegan sweet treats too. Shop local and give this bakery your trade instead of the supermarkets and the high street chains with their pretend 'bakeries'. try some real bread freshly baked instead.

Absolutely amazing bakery, the breads and the sweet treats are the best I've ever tasted! This is a must visit if you're in the area (or if you fancy and early morning day trip, he sells out fast)

None of our holiday activities could start on Tuesday or Thursday until we had visited the Fat Batard bakery and stocked up with many of their amazing goodies. We enjoyed three different flavours of sourdough bread, vegan biscoff cookie sandwich, pastries and the Best doughnuts and millionaires shortbread we have ever tasted........ and over many years we have tasted many. The love and care for their craft shows in all of their products. Can't wait for another holiday in Peebles.

If you’re local or just visiting, the fat batard is an absolute must! They make the best sourdough baked goods! Currently working my way through their menu. So far I’ve tried the sourdough bread, sourdough baguette, focaccia and salted caramel sourdough brownie and they were all amazing! The bread keeps really well too. The brownies however have never lasted more than a few hours before being munched. So gooey and delicious! 10/10 would recommend!
