Great Chinese but 5er corkage. Bring it down and you'll do great as your beef curry is fab . A great Hidden gem. The young girls are so attentive and have great service skills .

The portions where small, chips where hard, price was too much for the small amount, the only good thing was the prawn crackers.

Ordered beef curry worst I've ever had. It most certainly didn't taste like meat from a cow to me. The windows were really dirty. Switch on the wall behind us same. Never again

Service was fine, we took advantage of the Government ‘eat out’ scheme, however the food was very poor. Even with 50% off I wouldn’t recommend going here. Almost everything we ordered was tasteless and bland.

We're so happy to get back into the Emperor for dining- in. My friends and I usually go here every 1-2 months for a Sunday evening meal. Tonight we returned for our first post - lockdown meal indoors together. We weren't disappointed. We'll be back soon. Great food as always.

Food was good, a couple of small points, but the service was excellent. Thanks for a great night out. When the staff are smiling among themselves it's a great sign.

Service not good.....orders wrong but don't complain brushed under the carpet...their manners on the phone totally disgusting...thank god for panda China...were I should have went to first

Called last night for a family take away. Order chicken with green pepper and black bean sauce and chips. Food was terrible. Black bean sauce was watered down and flavourless, veg was undercooked and hard and chips were preheated and burnt. I safely can say I will never be back here. £20 wasted on family dinner. There are plenty more much better Chinese restaurants in Downpatrick which can gladly have my business.

This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in NI, but sadly not anymore. We arrived for a family meal ( 2 adults, 1 child ) on a saturday night and ordered off the set menu. My starter of satay chicken kebab was ok but my wifes salted chilli chicken wasn't great, not really salted chilli more like a few pieces of lightly battered chicken. My wife then ordered honey chilli chicken with fried rice, while i ordered peking chicken with chips. The honey chilli arrived with chips, then 10 mins later ( after having to ask ) the rest of the food came, by which time the food that HAD arrived was cold. We complained but were told sorry we're busy, which they wern't. The honey chilli tasted like peking, so i asked if we had got the right item, was told Oh our honey chilli is made with peking sauce!! Very strange, never heard of this before in my life and i eat chinese at least once a week for past 20 years! It wasn't honey chilli chicken at all but we ate it anyway as it was obvious we were not going to be offered an alternative. Anyway, to summarise, food very mediocre, and service terrible and after 2 or 3 complaints never any idea or notion to refund or deduct anything from the bill. Used to come here 2 times a year but sadly will now never be back. Probably best to avoid and like ourselves find a better alternative when in this area.

I got a take away from in here tonight and it will definitely be the last! My partner and I got a salted chilli chicken deal which was a portion of salted chilli chicken with chip/rice and sauce. Salted chilli chicken is my favourite meal from the chinese but this was a total let down. Firstly I asked over the phone if I could get half gravy half curry over my chips and this wasn’t allowed which I don’t think is fair as it is the same amount of sauce for what u are paying. The salted chilli chicken was pathetic and small, there was no chilli only these white lumps of ‘chicken’ with this random slice of tomato cucumber and lettuce. No spices or onions? And it tasted like garlic not spicy at all. The curry chips were ok but more rice than chips and wasn’t very warm. Also got a portion of chicken balls and they were small and just OK. The salted chilli chicken deal with a can of soft drink was £7.80 and honestly wasn’t worth any more than 4.50-5.00. And the can of soft drink was warm. The girl of the phone was quite abrupt. You have a some competition in Downpatrick with chinese food but this isn’t even in the top 4. Don’t recommend

Booked for a group of 10 on a Saturday evening at 6:30. At 8pm we had not even seen a starter. We complained on several occasions as we could see the take out orders being prioritized. Service was just generally pretty terrible and our complaints were largely ignored. Food was OK when it finally arrived but not worth the (very long) wait. Give it a miss.

Went for dinner absolutely disgusting would not eat in it again

Thought long and hard about this..but it has to be said.. Went here for a meal last Sunday evening with a friend and ordered off the set menu meal for two.. The starter of chilli chicken was nice and my main of chicken chow main was just OK, however my friends curried pork fillet was pure awful.. The curry is obviously made from a paste that was that hot it actually burned your mouth when eatting it and the oil was sitting think around it... So there for not ate.. Not one member of staff came to check if everything was OK, we had to call staff on several occasions (for different things) for dessert menus.. On saying about the main the young waitress said she would speak to the chef, another 15mins after this when we again had to call staff for the bill she told us that it was due to the different spices... And was still on the bill.. We then asked to speak to the manger who came and told us that they had then changed the curry (🤔) and that she couldn't take it off the bill as it was a set price... (joke) and the best she could do was to take a drink of... We only had (2each) to then turn and say she couldn't take it off as the chefs check the money at the end of night and if their till is down it comes out of the tips....... .....Which by the way is ILLEGAL... TO then say she can take only £5 off 🤔🤔 now if you can't take food off how dose this work... !!! So we ended up paying -£5 and then on the way out she actually called me back for the £5 before realizing what she'd done... Will never ever be back in here again...

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Downpatrick which we use most Fridays for dinner. Often a takeaway but sitting in is also a good option. Staff great and food always nice and fresh.

This restaurant is near to us and we've mostly used it to sit in but takeaway option is available. As is typical of Chinese Restaurants, at least those with which I'm familiar, the staff are very efficient, and not too chatty but certainly not rude. Portion sizes are good and there's a very varied menu, including vegetarian options. We aren't here all the time, but we like it and will eat here in the future.

Large portions and good value for money. Lots of vegetarian options, the fried rice is delicious as a side dish.

Their menu is quite extensive and you may take a while to choose what you want. Although they have one or another Irish dish, the majority is Chinese. They have good daily deals (food and drinks) and you can eat quite good food and really big portions for less than 10 pounds. A great option for emergency food but definitely a good one for regular days.

Have eaten here many times and have always been pleased. Staff have been friendly and welcomed families. Great menu choices available and they seem to offer a few meal deal options. We have always found food to be tasty and portions are huge. Prices are reasonable although we were charged for some prawn crackers for the child. (Little mean if you consider most places set a portion on the table and we had ordered 3 meals and drinks) Would recommend.

Nunca volveremos a poner un pie en este lugar de nuevo! Si lo que quieres es comida mediocre junto con terribles, personal grosero que les gusta hacer sentir como un problema, entonces este es el lugar para ti. No puedo explicar cómo mi experiencia fue horrible y nunca le recomiendo este restaurante a todo el mundo, de hecho me aseguraría de diciéndole a la gente que nunca pisó dentro aquí... verdaderamente horrible!!

Fuimos para una comida esta tarde con otras 4 adultos y dos niños. La mayoría de la comida estaba bien, pero los filetes de cerdo y las saladas chili gambas era horrible. Cuando nos quejamos de los filetes de pescado y gambas nos dieron una batería de abuso de la gerencia y el personal. ¡Fue ridículo servicio al cliente! Nunca volveremos!!!

Me llamó en esta noche para un un orden y pensé que no iba a llegar y salir no estaba muy concurrida. Un hombre puesto a su orden y unos 30 minutos más tarde que me preguntó fue va a ser mucho más tiempo le dijeron no lo hizo un pedido pero que podían tomarse ahora pero que tenía que pagar por él. Pedí y pagamos en 19,50 y finalmente se llegó a 21,05 y ni siquiera una disculpa por lleva tanto tiempo. La camarera salió y dijo "no vayas" y ni siquiera un "gracias". Me he gastado miles de libras en ese lugar hasta ahora. No volveré nunca jamás allí ya que sé que ahora sólo se preocupan por el dinero, y no los clientes.

Our go to place when going out for dinner or getting take away. Food always nice and staff always very helpful.

Go very regularly and has never disappointed! Staff great, never had to wait no matter how busy, both take away and sit in food is always of a very high standard.

This has to be the worst example of a 'restaurant' ever. The food is not usually that great but as it's the only Chinese restaurant in Downpatrick we used it. The waiting staff are lovely and really helpful, however, the owner is the rudest woman I have ever met. She has absolutely no people skills and she negates all the great work of her staff. I may visit this restaurant again reluctantly but only if I knew she was not there.

I used to go to a different Chinese all my life but for the last 2 years the food in the emperor is the best one in Downpatrick and being the only sit in it even better! the staff are all very friendly and the portions are huge!
