Metalheads should know this place. The listed building has seen many local bands, and everyone cuts thier teeth here. Tony, the residents psycho, is fantasic, the place has barely changed in 30 Years (probably more) and Nothing is on tap. The Self-Policing heavy metal community has a sense of chivalry that is lost in the wider community and everyone feels safe.

Easily one of the best rock bars in Wales. Run by Tony who’s dedicated his life to the venue and finding the best bands. I recommend this venue to every band I meet and, whenever a friend comes over from far away, it’s the first place I take them!

Hasn't changed in 30 years. Not sure if that's good or bad but so happy it's kept going! Hasn't had anything on tap for years but the staff and entertainment (sometimes the same thing) are second to none. 😁

This place has music running through its very fibre you almost hear it whispering to you when you walk in, it's the kind that grabs your soul and gives it a wobble, it's definitely not the whisper you'd expect, be prepared to have your ear drums perforated at no extra cost, it's loud in here, very loud, it's big in here, there is life being lived to the extreme here, it is a jewel that acts like it just don't care, cos it doesn't care, you know it doesn't care, it takes no prisoners. The fascination about The Duke is that you WILL get all of your Wellington even if you don't know what all of your Wellington is. If you are by chance erring on faintheartedness 'sall okay, Duke will give you the kiss of life ...

Went once and omg it's a dive ... Too small for what's they use to for .. the crown the ferry is no bigger that's how teeny tiny it is ... It's dark depression décor is absolutely rubbish and place just absolutelty shocking . Not my thing one bit if others like it fill your boots bit seriously my views it's a dive not worth half any stars

This grungy, semi derelict, black hole of a pub is one of the best music venues is South Wales. I love it

Atmosphere the very antithesis of "hell with fluorescent lighting". Interior decor is by Benson & Hedges and it was so dark, I was expecting the support act to be "The Lady In The Radiator". The sound was not bad considering that you're always fighting the drums in a place that size. Was disappointed that there was no beer on hand-pump and that bottles were pricey but considering there was no door money to see three acts, we were well happy.

The place is an absolute dive, with patched and broken furniture, no toilet seats, dirty plastic glasses and nothing on draught. Peeling wallpaper, graffiti, and an overgrown yard with more broken furniture. Yet I had a great night as part.of the comedy festival. It had a great atmosphere, and staff and locals were fun and friendly.

Went there for a get together with old school friends, one of which was 70. Great atmosphere but didn't have food. There was a huge spread for a funeral and it was very impressive 👏.
