Mediocre food, overpriced menu and generally not a good experience, such a shame when you hear business owners complain about takings being down!! No surprise bitterly dissapointed after hearing so much about it !! The young waitress seriously needs a charisma transplant, not good when in the hospitality industry. One bitterly dissapointed local .

We enjoyed the whole dining experience, friendly and welcoming staff, relaxed atmosphere and wonderful food, what is there not to like.

Adorable little family run restaurant, the young male server was very friendly and service was great. Very different meal sizes compared to London so it's very great value for money as I've been struggling to finish my meals here in Devon.

I am gutted about this review as I had been looking forward to eating at The Drift. I’ll caveat this review from the get-go by saying my husband had a lovely pizza and a family on another table looked to be enjoying a Devon cream tea. But the fish goujons were dreadful. When the dish was first put in front of me, I thought it was a joke - 4 tiny breaded sticks, the size is a small finger, with hardly any fish in them. Straight out of the freezer section, the meal looked like the plate of food your kids would get at a birthday party. When it was obvious this was actually my meal, I was gutted. Yes I should’ve said something but I didn’t. I gave the fish sticks to my son and went to the fish and chip shop next door to get a medium cod. The people who work here are very nice and I didn’t have the energy to be upset about it. Enjoy the pizza, fill your boots with the scones but this isn’t the place to go for fish.

Came here on Sunday lunch time. Dogs are allowed in which is great. The pizza was really tasty and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I did drop a star on atmosphere as there was lots of cutlery clanging going on while we were there which I wasn't a fan of!

The welcome was warm and friendly. The menu features a good variety of pizzas as well as an interesting selection of other dishes. Meals are freshly cooked and the desserts are home made. The food and drinks prices are reasonable.

We ate here 3 times throughout our weeks stay. Relaxed family run business. Friendly hosts, great location and food was amazing, especially the lamb koftas. Water provided for the dog along with dog treats at the end. Our host (sorry we didnt get your name) remembered our dog's name when we went back each time. Thank you for the lovely food. Fabulous whatever Time of Year Very Hospitable Always Very Fresh !!

Feel bad for taking stars off because the food was nice enough and the service friendly. But. We were the only 3 people in there on a Saturday night and it still took over 45 minutes to get 2 pizzas and a steak because they prioritised the delivery food so we waited for them to send food out whilst we were sat right there. Speaking of steak we ordered two but were told, politely, there was only one steak. On a Saturday night with NO other guests. Also the specials board consisted of two specials but one of those also not available so why not just take it off the board? On the plus side toilets were clean and wine was good.

Wonderful food with a full menu even tho we were there “out of season” The sea bass on the specials board was an awesome surprise! Absolute unexpected delicious bonus! Attentive owners, lovely atmosphere, beautiful sunset views.. thank you 🙌

Had the best cream tea we've ever had! Tea was exactly how we like it, scones fresh and sooo good. Lady who served us was lovely too. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely place which was quiet and had a peaceful atmosphere. Dog friendly and even offered my dog some treats which was a nice touch. Service very friendly and food was excellent. Reasonably priced too.

Lovely fmily run restuarant. Good choices on the menu. The sauce on the lamb was excellent. The pizzas sounded so good on the first night - really crispy when they were sliced - that we went bck teh following night for takeawaay pizzas. Did not disappoint

Enjoyed a fantastic evening meal with variety of food here during holiday stay.

Lovely little restaurant. Just had family meal there and we all loved it. Nice seat at window overlooking the green. Pizzas were really great and can watch them being prepared and cooked in the wood fire oven.

We found this place while looking for somewhere to eat on the day. The food hit the spot perfectly, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and there was a lovely atmosphere.

We walked past and it was completely empty at 12:20. Was a little sceptical as the two restaurants either side were busy but we went in and sat outside. Really glad we did. The food was lovely, and the menu had something for everyone. Child friendly and the staff were really polite and helpful. Toilets were modern and clean and by the time we left, every table was in use.

Quite a quiet restaurant in a busy area. We stopped for a quick bite and all ordered pizza. My friends enjoyed theirs but I found mine was mediocre. Nice friendly staff and quick service. Its a no smoking policy even on the terrace. If you smoke they ask you to cross the road

Solid 5 Star nice comfortable size restaurant not over booked and just relaxed. Done all 3 courses and blown away by every course. Defiantly end of Holiday meal before driving home.

Had a really lovely early dinner here the other night. We didn’t book, we walked in just as they opened. Friendly welcome, charming and tasteful decor, clean restaurant and good value for money. The service was very attentive and professional, the drinks were cold and the food hot (and delicious)! I would absolutely recommend it.

Had a fantastic meal here starter's we shared garlic ciabata bread, feta and walnut salad. Mains firewood pizza, burger, lamb kofta, puddings were trio of ice creams and lemon cheescake. All outstanding taste. Lovely husband and wife owners. We also had the best ever Devon scones the day before highly recommended

This is my favourite restaurant in north Devon, the food is amazing and the owner is always welcoming and can’t do enough to make your dining experience lovely!! Highly recommend eating here we return every year x

What a little gem, we have just eaten here tonight, we phoned to book last minute and were given a table even with our dog with us, who is very good. The service was excellent, the food was very good quality, great choice in menu, the toilets are very clean which is always a good sign. We would love to return if we are ever in this area again, best meal by far since we have been here. Don't look anywhere else.

Been twice. We were a party of 4 adults, 1 infant and 1 dog! We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The food was beautiful. The pizzas are second to none. Would definitely recommend.

We recently visited a the drift restaurant with my family, and I'm delighted to share my review about the fantastic dining experience we had. From the moment we entered the restaurant until we left, everything was exceptional, including the food and the services provided, The menu offered a wide range of options to cater to different tastes and preferences. We were pleased to find an extensive selection of dishes, including vegetarian.

We turned up unannounced with our Springer spaniel Alfie and were given the warmest of welcomes. Alfie was given a bowl of water and dog biscuits on a silver tray. There was a wood fired pizza oven with the chef making pizza's to order from scratch. Sadly neither of us had pizza on this occasion but definitely next time. The staff were friendly and the standard of food was brilliant. If you are in the area this is a must visit.

This was one of the most lovely dining experiences I've had with my child in such a long time. Danielle is a credit to this restaurant and the food is absolutely amazing. It was peaceful and accommodating and the service was amazing. I would rate this 1000/10.

Ordered a take away for me and my family as we were down for the weekend. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. We had the brisket burger, mac n cheese brisket and chicken burger. We all loved the food and cannot wait for more when we return in a couple of months. It was very reasonably priced and we could not have been happier with our choices. Highly recommended

Food average. Service appalling. Tried to order through just eat, £65. App crashed so I just rang up to order. Women on the phone was a bit rude, but i ordered & paid over the phone - stupidly without checking price as I assumed it would just be the same as on just eat. However, statement has just come through and they've charged me £75! An extra tenner for going direct and saving them the just eat fees wtaf? Told it would be 45 mins. Got there on time to be told it would be another 5-10 mins. 25 minutes later they finally bring my food out, and then they immediately accidentally drop it on the floor. To make this worse I think it actually bounced down another customers shoulder before hitting the floor and that customer didn't get an apology. They gave me a bottle of wine to say sorry but that certainly did not make up for the shocking service - and due to the fact they charged me an extra tenner it wasn't really a free bottle of wine at all. Would never order from here again, the food wasn't anything special even if the service hadn't been comically bad

Fab food,lovely and chilled atmosphere.

A nice place to eat with views across the bay. Comfortable restaurant with friendly staff. Food disappointing, some dishes were very salty. Order was taken incorrectly and one dish had to to re made. Which meant 1 person had to eat when everyone else was about finished. 3 out of 5 of us were disappointed with the meal. Quite expensive for the quality of the meal.

By far the best the place to eat in Westwood ho we eat here 3 times on our holiday the chef's take pride in their work and it shows in their food the service is excellent too would recommend to anyone we had the burgers pizza pasta all 10/10

We visited for lunch and had a Whitebait salad and Cream tea! It was lovely! We booked later for dinner and had the sea bass special and Cajun chicken.The service was great, it was a very welcoming and inviting restaurant. We were sad we only found it on our last night as we had disappointing food elsewhere. We will definitely be back and thank you!

Very friendly family run restaurant who were happy to accommodate 6 adults and a toddler on a busy evening. Good variety on the menu and wirh an open kitchen you can see how your dinner is prepared. Also do takeaway.

Over an hour waiting for food which really fit was it was is overpriced. Staff aren't really friendly sat with empty glasses for the majority of the hour whith out anyone coming over. Sat and a grubby table with old crusted food on the placemat even my napkin was stuck to the table. When our food finally did come out they weren't even served together, a while table next to us was served between our meals. Plates were just put on the table as the waitress said nothing and walked away. As for the food, honestly the portions are small and I've had better tasting and less watery ready meals from tesco.

Went in for lunch on a cloudy Friday. Welcome shelter from the wind. Really enjoyed the food , delicious. Ordered pizza all round. Came out quickly and tasted wonderful. Specials were offered and sounded lovely. Friendly staff , accommodated our wheelchair user with ease. Nicely laid out inside and good decor. Would very happily go back again.

Lady held on to hot coffee until payment went through. Made me feel like she thought I was going to steal the coffee. Not very friendly.

Staff were lovely but on a rainy Thursday in March they were clearly not the A team: the pizza took ages to arrive (we were the first people in the restaurant but they were clearly doing a good delivery trade) and it really wasn’t great pizza despite the wood oven. Like supermarket pizza cooked in a too-cold oven which, for £15 a pop, is not what I was hoping for. Could see them rolling the dough with a rolling pin which even I know is not how you make pizza dough!

I used their delivery service and never again. Good was cold, overpriced and was not restaurant standard. My delivery was over an hour late and when I kept ringing to check what was happening the staff lied to me three times by saying “it’s leaving the restaurant now”. Dining in experience is probably better but I do not recommend their poverty delivery service

Took a chance as a walk in and was able to have a table, menu has alot of variety and they were able to change the food my wife wanted without diary and gluten free. The food came piping hot and looked fabulous and tasted the same. Will definitely go back when we visit again

Greeted as not having booked, not very welcoming. £8.95 for special prawn dish, tasteless. Chicken goujons dry. Fish dish was nice though. Nothing special about pizzas. When booking, you need to be aware that you have 2 hours as we were offered pudding menu but then told we could have as takeaway as needed the table for the next guests, NO THANKS. Three table's were empty, no one waiting. Made to feel very unwelcome by the Manageress. We didn't eat slow, main course took time to arrive. We have eaten in plenty of restaurants across the UK and would never return!

Took my family for a meal this evening, the mains and desserts were just amazing, the staff were great, warm, and friendly. After so much time in lockdown get yourselves to The Drift and enjoy a great meal, at a great value.

Loved our visit to rhe Drift actually went back for a second visit. Very friendly staff, delicious food, covid saftey rules adhered to. Hopefukly will be back in the area to visit again

We ordered takeaway to be delivered to our holiday home. The website was simple to use, easy to pay. We ordered a pizza, bbq pulled brisket burger and onion rings. The waiting time for delivery was stated as 45 minutes. Almost on the dot, a nice lady arrived with our food. Carefully packaged, still hot, fresh and tasty, delivered with a smile. Delicious tasty gluten free pizzas fresh ingredients very impressive up there with best pizza I have had.

This has become a weekly favourite during lockdown. I just want to thank everyone concerned for the efforts made to bring excellent food; well presented, cheerfully served and a very welcome break from cooking each night. Tonight had scampi for first time from here. ( There are many other favourites) It was truly excellent. Thank you Drift. Keep up the good work and will bring family down when they are allowed to visit and you are open again.

We had our first takeaway from here last week and it will sadly be our last. Our order for a family of 4 was £75 which we consider expensive for a takeaway so we were expecting great things. When we opened the order we realised we had received the wrong pizza, the garlic bread was rock hard and completely inedible and the dipping sauce for the fish was missing. We did contact them to advise they had given us the wrong pizza and they kindly offered to deliver another to us. Bearing in mind we only live half a mile from the restaurant we had to call again an hour and a half later as it still hadn’t come.The other elements of the order were tasty but £10 for a tub of pasta in tomato sauce seems high to me and £15 for a pizza that was very small has meant we won’t be ordering again though they did offer us a discount if we get did when we told them of our experience.

The pizza and cheesecake were wicked, and the cheesecake was massive! My friend said the burger was good too, so smiles all round.

Venue; scruffy, front door very hard to open. Service; young waitress wasn't sure of which pizza was most popular. Cutlery was obviously second hand as it was blunt where once it was serrated. It made.cutting anything a real effort and chore. Average. Food; very poor. Pizza base tasted of flour, not seasoned. Toppings where cheap. Too much cheese which tasted of nothing but fat. Tomato base tasted as if where over stuffed with cheap dry herbs, awful. Very small topping portions. Prosciutto was watery and warm. Garlic bread had no real garlic on it just a haze where butter had melted. We think there is a great restaurant in there but the owners need to get the detail right. A pizza base should have a hint of sweet and be crispy and brittle. Toppings fresh, abundant and of high quality. The tomato base full of fresh herbs. No dried herbs at all. Cutlery is a basic and needs to be fit for the job. Please accept this as honest and see the chances to improve. It's not wild criticism bit we hope you can look at what others have nailed and copy them.
