On a Tuesday night you do not expect a busy buzzing restaurant. So open and such a bright space great service and food, good news is the prices are very good for such quality food

Nothing exceptional, however clean and with excellent service, unfortunately minimal portions and, considering that it was all based on chicken, the price was very high and excessive.

One of the best curries we've had since moving up from Glasgow two years ago! So so tasty We got simple Indian food to share with the kids, korma and bhoona. Staff happily made veggie for us, staff were lovely and friendly too

I have been here before but my girlfriend hadn't. The food was just as good as I had remembered and she said it was the best Korma she's ever had! The proprietar was the perfect gentleman and made us feel welcome and cared about. Before leaving, we asked to let the chef know just how much we enjoyed our food! We're now looking forward to our next visit :)

Went last night with a party of five. Waitress and owner attentive and food lovely.

Had a lovely takeaway from here tonight with generous portions. We had the Kashmiri special curry (fruit/chicken curry) and it was absolutely amazing, definitely going to be a regular choice for a takeaway at the weekend. The staff were very friendly when we went to collect too! Never write reviews but this place deserves it :)

My favourite Indian restaurant - top notch - best popadoms ever tasted - so light- never had a bad meal. Lamb sagg a favourite of many! Good service great food and top notch view. Well worth a visit. I’m from Glasgow and this place would hold its own and more in the curry capital of Scotland🙂

Owner of this restaurant is genuinely kind. Always remembers my family even though my parents are too elderly to visit in person anymore. Every time I visit Banchory we get a curry as the food here is excellent, packs a real punch of flavour and is generously portioned. Highly recommended!!

Lovely restaurant. Food was excellent and portion sizes generous. Every table in the place was full, with some large parties in. Staff were run off their feet but still gave service with a smile. Owner Mohammed was very hospitable. Will definitely return.

Very nice meal, I had the Tandoori Mixed Grill and my accomplice had the Chicken Madras. Both were lovely and there was plenty to eat. This place is obviously very busy with carry-out orders and the continual ringing of the telephone was somewhat off-putting in an otherwise very quiet restaurant. Was maybe just the owners manner but he sounded very abrupt on the telephone? It's a big place to be the only diners in but as per my opening comments the food was lovely.

Very bland curries lacking in flavour and looks. £5 for a smallish nan bread was a shock. Shame as its 1 of only a few dine in places on the main road.

Visited this restaurant last summer on an epic road trip across UK. One of the most warmest friendliest places and a really decent takeaway

The food was okay but when we asked for them to order a taxi they couldn't get one, and then pretented there was some waiting in the street when there was clearly none. Just be honest.

We visited on a Friday evening having booked a table. The food was very nice, but the service was average. There was one gentleman serving (the owner?) and two young girls waiting on. The gentlemen seemed very interested in chatting to diners on some of the other tables, to the point that we felt he wasn’t as attentive as he could have been. Possibly these tables were regulars. The two girls were working hard. Previous reviews have suggested that one girl was a bit rude. We weren’t on the receiving end of this, but could see that she definitely had ‘attitude’ from the way she spoke to her boss. All in all an average experience. As we were on holiday, we are unlikely to be back.

The food and owners were lovely. Was put off immediately when we walked in and asked the young girl for a table and she just walked away. I felt like walking out straight away but my partner went and sat down. I found the young girl really ignorant and rude especially after she spilt a drink all over and just walked away. I never even got an apology then had to ask for another drink. She was also very rude to the other staff

Food was nice. But I was put off because the young girl who was saving us was so rude and unwelcoming and she kept touching her hair and putting her finger in her mouth picking at her Teeth.not good at all. .

Terrible service. Cutlery was smashed onto the table. The waitress' phone was more important than us. She laughed at us when I said something about it because I wanted to order. We just left.....

Fantastic food and friendly service make this a must go to restaurant for me. Really clever use of herbs and spice result in amazing freshly cooked dishes. Muhammed is very knowledgeable about his menu and is always happy to help with menu choices. Staff are always welcoming and Riah the waitress will make you feel right at home. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere , is always clean, tidy and well maintained . Best Indian restaurant I've been to by far.

Huge choices of various curry dishes & very delicious, so what's not to like.

The food is good enough. Two waitresses were excellent. Only two stars because the owner had terrible customer service. Felt unwelcome. Leaving this review because he has been like that everytime. Think it might be the more you spend the friendlier he is. The Echt tandoori is way better. Will be going there from now on.

Had the most amazing meal tonight with a friend. The paratha was delicious with the Korma I ordered and the special rice was everything special and more. Food was piping hot, environment was clean and friendly and the hosts were very attentive, professional and friendly. Would highly recommend and I will definitely be visiting again soon.

First time in any curry house I order chicken jalfrezi to judge it by - this is the best - including swanky regent street joints in my home town London. If you are in Banchory check this place out. Sorry for poor photo.

A suprisingly great curry! We just had a takeaway. Every curry we ordered was very fresh and flavoursome. One of the best takeaways we have had!

Would definately recommend this Indian Restaurant. Called here at short notice during Covid. Had sanitisers and seating at appropriate distancing. Also took contact details in case of need re Covid. Being from Bradford, we have an abundance of Indian Restaurants - The Derbar did not disappoint! The food was delicious- it was clean, tasty and the meat was lean. We had the mixed starter which was lovely and the fish pakoras which were the best we had ever tasted! The service was excellent and they even made me a Mango Lassi which was not on the menu. I would recommend going here and if we are back in the area, we will definitely be making another visit. Good value for money.

We as a family went to spend dinner at this restaurant. We have been in different Indian restaurants in Aberdeen and never came across that kind of low quality food. It was a disgrace to see low selection of buffet food on New Year’s Eve Food was unbelievably low standard, tasted salty and greasy . It was charged £18.99 per person and selection of food was very limited and over priced, cheap dessert was brought from Costco. Of course the bill was taken in cash ( as usual , card reader wasn’t working) , also charged children as an adult rate, which was recorrected after pointing to the owner. Totally disappointed overall food and service.

We went for dinner at the new year eve. The food was not good, service was poor, very over priced. The behaviour of the owner was terrible, they didn't even provide the official receipt. Very dissatisfied overall. I would not recommend this at all

We went for a family dinner at this restaurant for New year's Eve/2019. We booked a table in advance but no one mentioned during booking that it's buffet only. However, they served dishes to a few tables from their menu. When I asked the owner- he denied n said "I don't know"!. The food was not great, greasy and salty. They charged £18.99 per person for a poor quality food plus £2.50 for soft drinks. You can see the dessert options (cheap quality cakes from Costco) they had from the picture. The attitude and behaviour of the owner was very disappointing as well. Finally, 'card machine out of order' sign was on and they never gave a proper official receipt on request.

Good food, lamb soft and succulent, great flavour and just the right amount of heat, both Madras and jalfrezie were spot on, also a mean pint or two of Kingfisher.

Couldnt ask for a better place and meal for our last night on holiday . Would def recomend them

Long established Indian restaurant visited infrequently by me. Tonight the service was as good as I've had in any Banchory restaurant, the food was tasty and generous, and the price reasonable. I must visit more often!

Always great food, really good evening out

Delicious. I had the South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken with Pilau rice. It was amazing. Definitely one of the best I have tasted. Will be back for more the next time I am in Banchory.

This is a great Indian restaurant for sitting in and for a takeaway. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The premises are clean and bright. The menu has a great selection and it's reasonably priced.
