First class tasty food and service , been a few times now and food always excellent. Small'ish tapas style portions of unique tasty food. We will be back. Thanks.

The four of us enjoyed our meal again at this restaurant. However we feel that the size of the portions are getting smaller We were charged £7.50 for one carrot on a purée. In hindsight we should have pointed this out at the time. Service is very good as are the staff and cocktails very enjoyable but the size of portions would make us think about returning

It is a restaurant where food and atmosphere are top notch. We ordered all the fish and meat courses in total 9. It was all delicious for this reason even though we were full we reordered 3 more. I'm sorry that our holiday here is short because we would be happy to return. Thank you very much for the kindness of the staff and the quality of the cuisine.

Mind blowing. One of the best dinners I've ever had. We had sourdough, smoked cheese, cauliflower and couscous and beef cheeks nuggets. Food was first class. Delivered promptly, beautifully seasoned and presented. For desert we decided on creme brulé and dark chocolate ganache. Absolutely perfect finish to the meal. Worth every penny and more. Will definitely be back! Can I also say huge well done to the Chef and staff. You made it a dream visit

I am early days on pregnancy (which can be clearly seen) walked in asked if I bought a small bottle of water could I use the bathroom.. was told no as I did not want to drink the bottle at the bar i wanted to take it away. This is shocking get your staff sorted

Wonderful meal and service. We loved all the dishes, can't post a selection as menu has changed. Only slight minus, the Monkfish dish was very small portion for price. Wine very good value, also you could pop in and have some food bites at bar with a drink I think, we never see anyone doing that.

Really tasty small plates, with a good variety of options. One of the goto places on the south side. Book ahead though!

My son took me here and whilst the food was tasty enough we felt it was a rip off price wise. The portions are tiny (2 bites for £6-10 quid is shocking). Very disappointed and we won't be back. Go further into Shawlands and there's plenty of great places for half this money. Lastly chairs are very uncomfortable.

We love it here so much. Our favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Every dish is always so interesting and delicious, the drinks are great, the staff are lovely. I have also found the team to be really understanding when we've rescheduled because of childcare issues, it's really appreciated. We adore you, never change DM!

Confirmed as our new favourite restaurant ! Last night was our third visit and probably the best; everything we ordered was delicious but big shout out to the special seabass, leeks and the delicious paté. Well done!!

Flavours were delicious and staff were lovely & friendly. Only reason 4 and not 5 stars was that I thought some dishes were overpriced for how small they were.

Our favourite place to eat in the Southside, if not Glasgow, by miles. We fell in love with the cultured butter and sourdough parfait as there its just nothing like it. The menu is always varied, the cocktails and wines are delicious and overall the decor and experience is just worth it. This is an absolute must visit for a lovely evening as a couple or with friends.

This was my 5th or 6th time visit since they've opened. It always feels like a treat. The menu is varied. The food is really tasty and well presented. Good service from the staff, very attentive. We go a few times a year. We always look forward to the food.

Food is great, small plates to share, the carrots....unreal. Cocktails are great. Wine menu is modern, very well constructed in terms of alternative wine producing regions at affordable pricing to what most restaurants offer.

This place has the trifecta of good food, good service and good ambience. The decor and lighting is perfect and makes you feel at home right away. The service was friendly and unobtrusive whilst still being attentive. The wine, we had Rose, was delicious. The cutlery, crockery and glassware were all of real quality which matched the food that came in it! Every single component was perfectly matched to the next in each dish. The lamb was incredible, as was the broccoli as was the venison as was it all… but the profiteroles were out of this world! The relaxed atmosphere of the food coming when ready was helped with a calming playlist of music over the top of a bustling restaurant. I found this by chance as happened to be staying close by and honestly the proximity was the key, the menu looked decent and reviews were decent so got a very last minute table on a Saturday night and wow, thank god we did! Up there with the best places I’ve eaten and could not recommend it enough

Came as a party of six on a works night out, liked the vibe from the off, nice and chilled and very good informative staff. The food was great, enjoyed every course. There was a slight mix up with a few mains, these things happen and it’s how the staff deal with it at the time that counts, and it was all sorted out. Couldn’t actually manage dessert as I was so full, the wine and cocktails were flowing all night and a great night was had by all. Roll on next time :)

Amazing menu, very clever flavour combinations, unpretentious with great service. Between 3 of us we tried 10 different sides & small plates plus 2 desserts. It’s almost impossible to choose a favourite dish as they were all so delicious- I can only narrow it down to the lamb or the scallop sides and the profiterole dessert. Will be back and will keep spreading the word.

Fantastic and unusual menu. Would highly recommend. For locals just pop in. For those further afield,make the trip, it's worth the effort.

My first visit at the Dapper Mongoose but it won’t be my last… in fact I can’t wait to return. As a couple we shared 2 snacks 2 small plates and 2 desserts…. That was more than enough with a fab bottle of Rioja….. I cannot say enough great things about this place, clean and with very friendly staff who actively asked for feedback. Every mouthful was a delight…. From the scotch egg all the way through to the caramelised banana pavlova. The beef risotto which came with the flank steak was out of this world…. Well worth a visit

The food, wine and service was all absolutely divine. We would 100% recommended it. Thank you for such a wonderful culinary delight!

Had a reservation for 6.30 but we were early and asked if we could have a drink at the bar however our table happened to be ready and we were seated straight away. Started with a couple of drinks and within five minutes were shown the menus. We ordered a portion of falafel each (delicious) while we browsed the rest of the menu. A couple of minutes later and before the falafels arrived we were asked what we wanted for the rest of the meal so we felt pressured to order the other dishes. The food arrived promptly thereafter in any order which to be fair is what the girl advised. We had the pepper and feta tarts which were amazing, the cauliflower tempura which was ok, the spaghetti, short rib and dirty chips all accompanied by a bottle of Pinot Grigio. The food was good but I'm not a fan of being served in "any order", we could all be better cooks if we served food whenever it was ready. A "side dish" of chips should mean a side - not served on its own. Due to the speed of serving we were finished the meal in 65 minutes (no desserts or coffees) and at £95 before a tip I felt it was a bit overpriced. I would probably have rated this restaurant higher for the food but had to take into account the other points I've mentioned. I'm not sure I'd return.

Been here a few times now over the past year and the food, drinks and service are always first class. Can't recommend it enough, each dish we tried tonight was delicious. Staff really know their stuff, lovely atmosphere and we will defo be back for the next new menu 😊

Superb, fabulous food,everything so tasty. Beautiful butter , bread n parfait, scallops with King prawn risotto, lamb, iberico, frangipane,wine,yum,yum,yum. Lovely service, nice place ,did I mention the food,yum! Not cheap but top draw,will be back when I can.

Found this place by chance and what a hidden gem ! Food was truly amazing and staff very attentive and friendly would definitely recommend.

My wife and I visited this place for an afternoon lunch having read some of the previous reviews. Our initial impression of the venue was positive and friendly, and we were promptly given water. Our first course was the Deanston Bakery Sourdough bread with chicken liver parfait and sriracha butter which was delicious and promised that the following dishes would be to the same standard, unfortunately however this was not the case entirely. The next dishes to arrive were the Tempura tender stem Broccoli and the seabream tartare. The broccoli tempura wasn’t crispy and was soggy and limp. The seabream “tartare” was nothing like a tartare. The seabream was virtually non-existent and whatever was there was drowned in a flavourless sauce. The advertised charred spring onion was not charred and the whole dish was covered in sprinkles of crispy onion that looked store bought. The cod roasted in seaweed butter and crab arancini with a bouillabaisse sauce was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed this. The grey sole en pappillote arrived at the table and the server advised us that the paper was not to be eaten? There was not a sniff of seasoning on the fish and the promised lemon Thyme and mussel butter was non-existent and there were no more than three tiny mussels on top of the fish. All in all a total waste of a beautiful fish dish. The pork belly rendang with Coriander mash and crispy flat bread was delicious and faultless. We went for the jam roly poly with custard for dessert. There was a tiny amount of custard in a jug, and we couldn’t get our spoons to go through what tasted like and had the texture of a hard stale sponge. I enquired if this had been frozen and not defrosted properly and was informed it was made fresh each day which I struggle to believe. We couldn’t eat it and sent it back. We were looking forward to trying out this place and expected far more. It certainly wasn’t worth anywhere near the £80 bill and we will not be back.

Amazing! Every dish was so tasty. Beautifully presented and delicious. I could have had every single dish on the menu, it was so hard to choose. Great, friendly and attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Flawless! Can’t wait to go back.

The combination of great food and great service makes a visit to the Dapper Mongoose an absolute pleasure. Food is well presented and extremely tasty. If there was a favourite then the Slow Cooked Pork Belly Rendang would be it.

10/10 for the food, the best in the Southside. Lovely atmosphere, nice wine and more than reasonable prices for such quality.

This place is insane. Every bite was delicious and amazing, we were drooling the whole night! And a great atmosphere!

Small plates concept, but the portions are generous and every dish we had was outstanding! Their menu changes every 6 weeks to what is best/seasonal and I can honestly say that everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Enjoyed the Sourdough with Chicken Liver Parfait and Paris Butter, Scallop of the Day with Crayfish, Crab Cakes with Saffron Hollandaise, Hot & Sour Hake and Prawns, Pork Cheek Pappardelle, Braised Beef Shin, Pistachio Crème Brûlée, and Warm Chocolate Tart. All were perfectly cooked, well presented, and above all, extremely tasty! It’s not a big restaurant but has a very warm and cosy feel to it, and a beautiful wine bar. The wine menu is also very good and reasonably priced. Already booked our next table, and recommend to any foodie looking for a really good variety of some stellar quality food!

Recently ate at the Dapper Mongoose and while the food was great, the service was not. One of our party was not drinking and the waiting staff made numerous comments throughout the night which left us feeling uncomfortable. By the end of the meal we were glad to be leaving.

Not for me thanks, food okay, over pretentious cooking in my opinion. Think they have a damp problem as the hallway down to the lower level toilets is showing signs of decay.. is this not a health hazard? Plenty of places to eat in Shawlands, this isn’t one of them in my humble observations.

I love this place for its fabulous food but, unfortunately, the acoustics are just a bit off. The restaurant is too loud to hear people across the table from you. Its such a pity but it puts me off returning. If the noise level could be altered in anyway then that would make this a 5 star review.

The food was incredible. The pistachio creme Brulee was the tastiest dessert I've ever had!

Went for a rare child free birthday dinner and had such a wonderful time. Love the ambience, the staff are so friendly and the food and drink are incredible. We especially liked the sourdough with chicken liver parfait, scallops, and the masala hake. Oh and the espresso martini!

Absolutely delicious food here. Really interesting small plates. Service is al ats excellent. After living in Shawlands for 4 years we can say this is the best food you can get. Staff have always been very accomodating to us with a young baby.

Staff was very nice and know the menu and ingredients very well. Food was cooked professionally and every plate is decorated with care. Review for each menu: 1. Haddock - nice portion and well cooked. I find it a bit bland, but my partner loved it. 2. Duck leg - SOFTEST duck leg I’ve ever had. The skin just slid right off and the meat was juicy and tender, but not falling apart like it’s overcooked. 3. Scallop - at first I thought £6.5 for one scallop was a bit pricy, but turns out it was so worth it. I’m a big fan of scallops and have been disappointed a lot by other places, but not here. The scallop was fresh and just perfectly cooked - not rubbery and burnt and not uncooked inside. The sauce and cucumber bits goes so nicely with it. 4. Chicken karage - my absolute favorite from this place. Chicken was super tender and not coated in thick batter. There was a lot of meat on the chicken bites. The soy sauce dip with egg yolk was unexpected, but goes so nicely with the chicken. 5. Sourdough with chicken liver parfait and butter with bacon and hazelnut bits - the bread was warm and had crusty and slightly salty side and was delicious. I love the butter with the bacon bits which adds a savory and lightly salted taste to it. The hazelnut bits are not hard or uncomfortable to chew as I expected. Butter was thick and creamy and didn’t melt at all. Overall, I would definitely be back to try out the rest of their menu ☺️

Delicious food, full of flavour. Perfect service, not too invasive but just the right amount of attentiveness. Their espresso martinis are so, so good! A lovely, relaxing dining experience.

We ate here last night for our Anniversary. 1st time here. We were not disappointed. Food was lovely....fresh ,tasty just really very good. In particular tenderstem broccoli & truffle chips too. The guys were just lovely. chips

The staff were super friendly and helpful and all the food we had was delicious. The cocktails were great and our wine was lovely. We ordered the recommended 5-6 dishes between two of us, and honestly, I left still hungry. Small plates seems to be a trend that isn't going away and I've been to a number of places offering this type of menu. I think it's reasonable to consider that at least 2 people will share each plate, so when you get a spoonful of Orzo with 1 scallop, it feels a bit miserable portion wise. I was glad we ordered the chips on the side. I appreciate the work that goes into these dishes but for £11 I'd expect more than two mouthfuls of monkfish each. Essentially 5-6 small plates between two means you're paying approximately £25-£30 a head for a main course. Still 4 stars as can't fault the staff or the cooking, but portions could definitely be a bit more generous.

Really enjoyed The Dapper Mongoose every dish we tried was brilliant,particular mentions to the sourdough with chicken liver parfait and saffron butter, the citrus cured cod with wasabi cream, the tempura broccoli and the chicken thigh special with morcilla mousse. It's a small menu but there's a good mix of dishes the portions are generous and the price is fair. The staff are bang on and the cocktails are also good can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

We absolutely love it here. The food is soo delicious and such a wonderful selection of small plates to choose from. It’s great to get to try a bit of everything! Last time we tried the fish taco special and it was amazing. Service is always fantastic too. Can’t wait to go again.

3rd time visiting here - every time it has been excellent. Carefully curated menu, friendly and attentive staff, great wine list (we know, we drank most of it!), not to mention beautifully decorated. One of the best restaurants for evening dining in the southside.

This was one of the most magical dining experiences I have had in a while. The service was second to none, the food was exquisite and sophisticated, the staff were charming and the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend the dapper mongoose and I further recommend the tasting menu and maple old fashioned! Do yourself the kindness of dining here.

My first visit to Dapper Mongoose but will definitely not be my last. The food is so tasteful, well presented and a treat for the taste buds. The staff were very friendly and the background music was very much to my taste. A great place to eat.

Amazing food! Service was excellent too. Sadly we felt quite uncomfortable at times because the staff took their masks off at the drinks bar (always hanging off ears) and through the back no masks at all. Made me think to question hygiene too based on this practice. I’d not be keen to go back based on this.

The food was amazing...The menu looks to change regularly but the sourdough with parfait and butter of the day was so good. Tempura broccoli so light and tasty, the scallop and cured cod dishes so delicious. Mouth watering just thinking back on it 🤤 Great little restaurant 👌

This place was utterly amazing. A true foodie experience in our lovely wee corner of Glasgow. The service was just exceptional and bar tender in particular elevated his trade beyond a profession and into the heady heights of a vocation! Never before have I ordered a whisky sour to then be presented with so many options and educated combinations to enhance the experience. The food was incredible, each dish an experience in itself and all packaged up in beautiful relaxed surroundings. Can’t that the team enough for an amazing night out. Look forward to seeing them soon.

Excellent food, small plates tapas style, great ambience and service

Extremely bloody good! If I'm honest I wasn't expecting much from this place, I only ever remember it as a bike shop but my my was I pleasantly surprised. Small menu but each dish (we had nearly half the menu) was full of flavour and delishious, especially the Lamb. Dishes come out as and when they are cooked by excellent serving staff who're friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. The menu apparently changes frequently and there are also daily specials. I will return.

Excellent food, drinks and service! Cocktails were fantastic. You can tell the people behind this care about providing an excellent experience and sourcing high quality ingredients for their food. Highly recommended this gem in the southside.

All the food was delicious, interesting flavour combinations and cooked perfectly. Staff were friendly and attentive. They change their menu regularly so worth revisiting. Social distancing measures were adhered to and all staff wore face masks. Also, their hand sanitiser smelled lovely!

We ate here for the first time this week and it did not disappoint. Great food and service and an excellent drinks menu. The butter chicken dish in particular was amazing. Really well done to the whole team and the atmosphere was great despite all of the current restrictions. I would not hesitate to recommend them for a visit.

Fantastic meal. Amazing food and brilliant service, what more could we ask for? We had the scallop and the bread with the butter of the day and Pate. Both were delicious and very nicely presented. We shared the halloumi bao bun, pollack and beef rendang. All 3 dishes were cooked brilliantly and tasted great. Cannot wait to go back and see what else the menu has for us!
