The Crown Inn Southam in Stratford-on-Avon

Visted with a friendcand shared the goats cheese burger and rack of ribs. WOW they both looked amazi g and very tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Lovely afternoon lunch. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Had freshly cooked lunch and ales were diverse and apparently changed regularly. Definitely recommend.

What a find! So many pubs advertise home cooked home person and often I'm left very disappointed. Well us 4 golden girls booked for lunch based on a recommendation from a friend, what a wonderful experience it was too. The food was amazing, the home made pies the size of a side plate and full of meet. The southern fried chicken could give the KFC bargain bucket a run for it's money.... And the ribs, succulent and absolutely huge. We could not eat it all so they very kindly boxed the ribs and chicken up. Lovely lad serving us, who didn't mind a bit of ribbing from the oldies. Great little find off the high street whilst out for a morning stroll visit family. Lovely interior with a country feel and a great selection of beers all served in the right glasses. Staff very welcoming and was a pleasure to speak to the owner. We will definitely be back when in the area. Great to support independent pubs and local amenities.

Visiting family in the area and decided to try their newly restarted breakfast service. Food was of good quality, tasty and rapidly served to us. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they also seemed sincerely interested how everything was. Would recommend. Good price too. For reference 3 adults a 4yr old and 18mnth old.

Table booked for a Friday evening, based on recommendation. Food was acceptable, but I think the term “Gastropub” was pushing it. The table was in the main bar, so lots of people in very close proximity & they should have told us that they had live entertainment that evening which was an insult to the ears. Couldn’t have a conversation. It may be better at lunchtimes, but not for an evening

Popped in to warm up and keep dry, four of us had a really enjoyable lunch. Friendly, very pleasant and attentive staff, big menu to choose from and all the meals were excellent.

We went to The Crown for a NYE meal. The staff couldn’t do enough to help. The food was really good and the karaoke was a bonus.

The worst food and experience I have had in any restaurant. We had booked a family Christmas 4 weeks In advance and chosen the three courses we wanted two weeks in advance so the restaurant had all the info they required to make this a great lunch. We arrived at 12pm, no tables were set and one hour later the starters came out. Guests that had pate was served with cheap white sliced bread stone Cold.I had sea food linguine which was that dry it was stuck to the bowl like it had been left out over night. The main courses came 2 1/2 hours after we had arrived cold with many items missing from are orders. At this point customers were walking out as they couldn’t wait any longer for desert. The deserts arrived at are table just after 3pm...yep you guessed it, terrible. The restaurant had two sittings, 12pm and 3pm. As the 50 plus guest from the 12pm sitting were waiting for their desert, another 50 guest arrived with no where to sit it was a nightmare. The manager did offer us a discount and said he was short on staff,but most of the preparation for the meals could have bed early to save this Christmas Day disaster.

The food was delivered on time but was cold and very small portion, the beef was raw well almost, it had bled all over the other bits so had to cook it more, the yourkies had been squished into the box so was like a pancake and was rubbery, tiny portions cold and didn’t taste good at all! Very disappointed and wasn’t cheap won’t order again!

Very poor meat quality and limited choice. One vegan choice but 2 sundries not vegan with no alternatives offered. Food was lukewarm. Was refunded for the food but the owner told me he thought I was being "picky" and was quite confrontational. We won't be returning

Called in and booked a table after a local run around the village. Ordered at the bar and a pint. friendly and attentive young staff...food was very good and service prompt.

This pub is somewhere we've wanted to try for a while and sadly we were a little dissapointed. It's important to note the staff were welcoming, super friendly, very attentitive but they were all quite young which would explain the rap music and rnb as the Sunday evening choice of melody. We had a Sunday roast which was good, although more expensive than the website suggeted it was a huge portion and absolutely did the job. No complaints there. The thing is, Sunday's are made for relaxing, we would have stayed for more drinks and thoroughly enjoyed the lovely beams and old character the building had to offer if the music volume was lower and more chilled. I'm only 39 but it was doing my head in, literally! After dinner we made a quick exit and headed home for one instead. Would we go back, yes I would think so, but it probably wouldn't be our first choice which is such a shame because the pub has a lot to offer.

This local has changed its name and its ‘brand’ a number of times over the years that we have lived in the area and its appeal has fluctuated. The previous time we visited it had been recently refurbished, reopened under yet another different name and was a fresh and welcome change to the other pubs in the town. However, our most recent visit, to what is now The Crown, was disappointing on account of the following: The unfortunate smell that hit us as we walked in – possibly from drains or the toilets, the lack of a low percentage beer which meant that my husband only had one pint, and would otherwise have had two, poor vegetarian choice and lastly the fact that it was a little chilly – such a pity that the fire/log burner wasn’t lit on a cool January evening as this would have massively improved the warmth and ambience of the pub, especially as the décor is beginning to look a bit tired. On a positive note, we were given a friendly, but not over the top, welcome by the young lady acting as bar staff and waiting staff and told we could choose from a number of cleaned tables. Most, or all, of the other patrons appeared to be drinkers and our food order was taken quickly. There was no problem with my tweaking my choice and our meals arrived in good time, The food quality was only average, but it was hot, plentiful with no room for a dessert, tasty and within the price range one would expect for a pub meal. The waitress, who couldn’t be faulted, was very pleasant and gave us just the right amount of attention. Even given the downsides, yes, we will probably go back in the future, but there are plenty of better places in the vicinity that we will visit again first. It’s also worth noting that while The Crown seems to be successfully operating as both an eating and locals drinking venue, it lacks the garden area for a pleasant outside dining experience in more clement weather.

This delightful, historic pub in Southam is now under new management and is very warm and welcoming. Good range of drinks, gluten free menu available (a big plus), a great atmosphere, amazing toilets and very friendly staff. We’ll be back!
