Great Pub and Campsite. Richard and Caroline with the locals made my stay warm and welcoming , even had a guitarist to entertain one evening. Although WiFi is only available in the pub and not on the campsite it is not a bad thing if you want to be back to nature. Recommend the food and the beer all locally sourced and cooked to perfection .

Recently visited the pub after a walk and it was lovely. The drinks were nice and reasonably priced. Had 2 real ales, and the one that is unique to The Crown was very tasty. we sat in their beer garden and even had a paddle in the water with my grandson. The staff were friendly and welcoming, we can't wait to go back and try the food.

Best experience at this campsite the owners and staff couldn’t do enough for everyone they work so hard. They don’t stop working from morning till late at night. As a single mum I felt so safe and met so many lovely families then our friends came and joined us who brought the wrong size tent for the pitch so the owners rearranged and gave us another pitch nothing was too much trouble. From start to finish it was an amazing experience it was spotlessly clean the compost toilets were immaculate the food and drinks service was outstanding. We walked the alpacas and learnt a lot about them with a lot of knowledge from the owners the children loved it we used the lake the whole time with my little boy fishing kayaking football pitches and a beautiful church 5 minute walk away we loved it so much we have booked for 3 weeks time pizzas on a Saturday night were beautiful and this site is my favourite in north wales so far and we have done many over the last ten years x Thank you so much for a truly amazing weekend the views and scenery were beautiful x

Brilliant campsite! The owners are wonderful people and they never fail to look after us. They provide a warm and welcoming site, in a beautiful area with all the amenities a person could need for a camp. The camping facilities are clean, tidy and regularly tended to. The pub is always bustling with lovely locals. We have visited this campsite three times in the last year now and the warm hostility of Caroline and Richard are why we will keep coming back!

A couple of drinks in the garden, soaking up the sun and listening to the river and the birds, I could have stayed here all day. Very welcoming staff and dog friendly. Unfortunately we found this place on a day when they were not doing food, which was a shame, just bad timing. These are the sort of pubs that need to be protected. If you are in the area, definitely pay it a visit.

Me and my partner camped here for the night not expecting much for £10 but it turned out to be one of the best camping trips we’ve been on! We were welcomed and instantly felt comfortable in the pub, we were then showed to our pitch that was the perfect size for 2 of us. We both had a meal each and it was good authentic pub grub, we loved it! Socialising with the locals and other campers in the evening topped out experiencing off, it’s the most fun we’ve had in a long time. Thank you guys for acing us we can’t wait to return:)

On the way back from the coast today I thought I would check out the Crown Inn near Corwen. Based on the reviews I was expecting something special but I was a bit disappointed. The site was fine , small , next to a river , very pretty. The pub however was not great. Dog mess all over the beer garden and the approach from the site to it was very unpleasant. Without being too graphic it was fairly obvious it had been there for a while. There was also evidence of poorly cleaned up dog mess in other places in the garden , which wouldn't be a massive issue if you didn't have to walk through it to use the toilets or collect fresh water. I wasn't overly impressed with the pub either tbh. It's a shame as I was wanting a semi local bolt hole nearby , but regrettably this won't be it.****note**** since posting this same review online the owner has had me banned from various FB groups which is both sad and pathetic in equal measure. Enjoy your stay folks!

Fantastic little campsite next to the river Maggie & Co very welcoming and friendly, ideal for our first visit to North Wales. The food in the pub was great, fresh cooked and served with a smile and plenty of chat, no need to rush here ! very well priced, as was the beer . A smashing little old pub, full of character, and real log fires, some would call it 'tired' , but it is as it should be in my opinion, does not need modernisation , ever. If you want breakfast, order the night before and it will be served nice and fresh at a time you choose in the morning, all the essentials of an excellent fry up. The campsite is very basic, but what more do you need in such a gorgeous location ? nothing ! Plenty of space to pitch up/park , no designated pitches , and you can have campfires and bbq's right next to your tent/campervan . If peace and quiet is your thing, this is the place to go , would recommend to anybody, so if you get the chance, give it a go :-)

We had passed this pub on our trips out, and thought it looked nice, so on our last evening we decided to pay a visit. We received a warm welcome. Apart from us there were just a few locals in the pub. We sat in a very nice garden, as we had three dogs with us, although the landlady had said we could take the dogs inside if we wished. The service was good, we were waited on by various people, who were all very friendly. There was quite a lot of choice on the menu. The food however was disappointing. It was well cooked and hot, but clearly microwaved and from frozen. My husband's sausages did not look like traditional Cumberland, but were more like frozen Wall's sausages. His mash was a small amount of lumpy looking yellow stuff.Frozen peas, frozen chips. Our friend really wasn't sure what to say when we asked him how his macaroni cheese was. It was a shame the food was disappointing,as because of the nice setting and friendly welcome, we really wanted to like this pub. I would advise the landlady to continue with the friendly welcome and the up keep of their lovely garden, but to introduce cooking with some fresh ingredients. Perhaps reduce the amount on the menu, so that there maybe less choice, but what there is can be of a better quality. The price was very reasonable, so they have got that right.

We visted this pub as the reviews were quite good.....but believe me this is for the campsite only......the food we ordered was disgusting......one of us had lamb curry that was like water with two pieces of meat in it......fish pie was bits of fish with watery mash thrown on top and a bit of cheese sprinkled over slopped onto plate........braised steak with mash potatoe that had hard lumps in.....the gammon and chips were ok but you cant go much wrong with that.......the place was cold and unwelcoming......we spent a total of 60 quid and felt like we had been robbed.....infact im so furious ive come here to write my review as i have not done one for a while but feel so passionate about this. Completely unspoiled old Welsh Inn with slate floors, open fireplace etc. Excellent local Facers brews. I believe they do food too (not sampled) and I think there's a campsite available. An excellent little bolt-hole and a lot quieter than places on the main A5 road, while only being a couple of miles' detour. Despite the address being Corwen, it's actually in a place called Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr on the B5105, a couple of miles from its junction with the A5 at Cerrigydrudion. Has recently changed ownership and opening hours are longer than shown on some websites - Tuesday to Sunday from midday to close.

Went here for dinner on Sunday evening having read good reviews. Being winter, the pub was pretty quiet which meant we could sit around the lovely open fire in the cosy front bar room on a bitterly cold evening. I ordered braising steak and mash, my other half had the fish pie and we both loved our meals. You get big portions and it really is homely food - I can honestly say it was the best braising steak I have ever eaten. I run a camping group and try to visit camping friendly places to pass onto the group. The first thing that strikes you is the nature, babbling water and birdsong are the dominant sounds, the landlord and locals are friendly and inviting with its mix of Welsh and English chatter next to crackle of open fire in the snug rooms gives a real feeling that you have travelled to experience another culture and tradition even though your still in the UK! The food is excellent and reasonably priced and a selection of local Welsh ales and Aspall's Suffolk Cider will quench your thirst after a day out walking and sightseeing around the reservoirs and forests, or just doing a spot of river fishing. Well worth a stop and worth putting on your places to go map, the only negative "it's always over too soon"

Very reasonably priced, with a friendly atmosphere (and a fine selection of ales), the Crown does need structural/facility updating, considerably, but this is in hand, and will be taking place - I understand - imminently, under the new management. The macaroni cheese was delicious, and I received positive reports about all of the other meals. This place is exactly what you want in a pub which seems so hard to find these days. Lovely old building, stunning location, warm welcome, excellent local ales, lovely home cooked food (all the pub classics!), dog-friendly, garden by the river, open fires and local character. Absolutely ticks all the boxes. Run by a lovely family who have recently taken it over. Even better, they have camping behind the pub on a stretch down by the river. When you're down there it feels almost like wild camping but you're only a few steps away from a great pint and a nice dinner! It was amazing falling asleep to the sound of the river and then stepping into the pub for a cracking full English (Welsh!) breakfast in the morning. And you can have fires in the campsite. To me it's not really camping without a campfire but it's not that easy to find places like this where it's allowed. It's also a great location to head into Snowdonia, across to Bala and Coed-y-Brenin, or up to Betwys-y -Coed and the Ogwen Valley. Will definitely be going back.

The owners were very helpful when it came to making the booking and were very welcoming when we arrived. The pub has an area of land to rear which is ideal to camping. To access the camping area, you have to drive across the river, which is easily done at the ford. The ford can be crossed in any 2wd car, the river is shallow. Within the camping area, there is plenty of space for cars and tents and in addition there are pits/ bbqs for fires. Historic place (listed I think, old welsh drovers inn), nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly owners and locals, 3 very good local beers well kept, as well as decent good value wine (a very rare combination in our experience!) and good value tasty traditional homemade pub food. All in the most beautiful setting on a bridge against the clifftop overlooking the River Alwen! We noticed they had a campsite too which looked absolutely fantastic stretching along the riverside behind the pub, so we'll definitely be back for a longer stay.

Grandma said it was the best fish pie she'd ever had. We all had dinner steak, braised steak, all home made. And all really delicious.

A lovely friendly pub. We were the only 2 people in the bar who were not locals but we were made to feel very welcome, everyone was.very friendly, giving us advice about where to go in the area. Good choice of local beers, food is served every night, typical pub food, we had scampi and chips. Also allows dogs in

Stopped for a drink and liked the pub and area so much that we decided to come back another time for an overnight stay. Beautiful little countryside pub by the river, lovely garden. Had the best sleep ever and a very tasty big breakfast. The village name Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr means The Vale of Meditation.

We stayed for two nights as part of the local shearing competition and were very well looked after by Dawn. The breakfast was amazing! It's not massive, but has everything you need and a great atmosphere - the craic was mighty!

a lovely real inn with the most stunning garden. The garden is on a riverside with terraces , we sat and watched ducks, horses and listened to the birdsong on a sunny summer evening. Really idyllic! Lovely beer and wine too.

Has to be the most welcoming pub I've ever been to. The main bar is small and cosy with open fire and it's pretty much impossible not to get into conversation with some of the gregarious locals. Regular special events like hog roasts and on site camping and bunkhouses at very reasonable rates. Riverside location with ford across to campsite and fishing. What's not to like.

My wife and I stopped off at the Crown on spec. It was late in the afternoon and didn't really expect to get served with food but it was no problem they were very obliging made us some very nice fresh sandwiches. On a sunny day it looks like a great location to sit on the terraces overlooking the river. The only other comment is inside could do with a lick of paint but don't let that put you off we would certainly call in again.

Just moved into the town so this will be my local pub. Had a few drinks here so a great place to meet some of the neighbours and locals.Tried the food last weekend, the gammon steak came recommended so we had that, totally awesome and well priced.Definitely somewhere I'll come back to when we have friends visiting or just fancy a few hours out. Thanks for the warm welcome to the town guys!

After reading 2 good reviews on trip adviser and getting a recommendation from a local we decided to eat here this evening. It's a lovely old fashioned pub with food. The bar was spotless, the bar man wonderful and the food fantastic. The menu is basic and simple but that wasn't a problem for us as we immediately picked out dishes we fancied. We had garlic mushrooms and chicken goujons to start. These were frozen not fresh homemade but were tasty, the portions were really big. I had a steak for main and my husband had gammon, both served with peas, chips and onion rings. The meat was exception quality and my steak was cooked to perfection. I tried my husbands gammon and that was fab too. David the barman was really attentive and we asked about a butcher who does local lamb so we could buy some and take it home and he told us that the butcher across the street was the best and that is where the pub gets it's meat from. The pub is under new management since last September and doing well which is no doubt due largely to the friendly staff and the wonderful quality food.

What a great little country pub The Crown is, the location is spectacular and the beer garden goes right down to the lovely river.Great ale's were the order of the day with a super selection on show. The bar is warm and very friendly with both locals and visitors willing to chat away with us. The bar is small but this make's it very easy to make friends as we did. Its a lovely proper pub in a beautiful area with friendly folk, we will be back real soon.

A group of friends and I descended on this place out of blue, and despite it being tiny, they easily managed to accommodate 10 of us for food without booking. The food was really good and the staff so friendly we went back the next night!

Went for lunch today for the first time. Lovely fresh food. I had the scampi which was nice and golden brown with homemade chips . Husband had the gammon with homemade chips. A joy to find chips cooked like that as a lot of places do frozen. Staff were attentive and friendly, checked we were enjoying our meal. Will definitely return.

Another visit to this lovely site and this brilliant restaurant. The food is always gorgeous and tasty. The staff are really friendly and always make you feel so welcome. We had two evening meals there and a Sunday Roast which was simply the best we have ever tasted. So you can imagine our shock and horror when we were told that the bar and restaurant is to knocked down to accomodate two more mobile homes. This is an absolute travesty and will be a huge loss to the site. In fact a site with zero facilities will not be top of my list in the future. Thanks to Mo and the team for doing such a brilliant job.
