At long last, an AUTHENTIC old school thing. Henry Weston's 5.2% cider on tap is a rare beast. Backyard Park view is unbeatable. Street lounge area with soft chairs is a big plus. Super relaxed feeling around it. Regulars are pleasantly nice to the nubes.

Went for a CAMRA PoTM presentation. This resulted in the popular and long established pub becoming very crowded. Tried three Robinson beers, all good. Staff excelled, going round taking orders because of the difficulty getting to the small bar.

What an absolute gem of a pub!! Wonderful to find a pub that’s actually used by people who appreciate a drink, spend a good amount of money and value the pub for what it is. Proper pub for proper people. Fantastic staff, very friendly punters and some amazing dogs. Just off the fantastic Mersey Vale Country Park, not far off the trans Pennine trail and not a bad round walk from Stockport. 5* from me 🍺🍺❤️ I WILL be back …

Always liked this "country pub" in the city. First visit for about 5 years. Came with Icarus for an excellent pint of Unicorn at £4 a pint. One of four Robinsons real ales on handpump. (Dizzy Blond, Trooper & Cumbrian Way.) Lovely cottage like interior with low ceilings and beams. Wooden floors. Patio seating to front and side. Well worth a visit. Inside split into two main rooms. Ic likes it.

Staff are great tenant not owner as he makes out total prat and I mean Johnny if you tell the truth and it involves telling Johnny your days are numbered as was lukes, best thing I did was to take advice walk away and remove everything that belonged to me in the kitchen, that meant all plates, bowls, side plates, salad bowls ect, that I supplied not impressed that he, Johnny has still as Paul suggested has not replied to my letter with regards answers I want. Nevertheless staff and customers great, but as one customer stated how do you sack the owner who thinks more about spending money on himself than paying staff on time. Oh and by the way you need planning permission to build a patio drinking area outside a pub with housing around.

Without a doubt the very WORST fish and chips I have ever had. I reckon I paid 95 pence for the fish and £9 for the amount of badly cooked batter it was wrapped up in. Staff didn't wear masks while they were serving you. I was drinking shandy so can't rate the beer. The rest of my party seemed to like their food and drink.

Poor food and service in quaint country style pub. We went as a family for Sunday lunch, the food arrived so quick that it was obvious our food was simply reheated. Plate lacked colour and freshness. The beef was inedible but to be fair the pork was cooked well and tasted nice. The knife couldn't cut the beef however and my teeth were no match for it. 5 types of veg which is completely over the top. 2 types cooked well would have been better than 5 poorly cooked. All food was either over cooked or under cooked. Mash potato was like it had been cooked the night before and roast potatoes were dry and hard they were more like parmentier potatoes. The best part of the meal was the chocolate mint that came with the bill. Very sad to see this place serve food so poorly. The staff must have had enough of complaints as this was apparent from how we were served. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal as they feared the answer.

A whitewashed, squat building set in a conservation area. This is one of the oldest pubs in Stockport (approximately 400 years old). The side entrance, up some steps and across a small patio, leads to a bar area on the right and a lounge/dining area on the left. The area around the bar is popular so can become crowded. Although modernised some time ago it retains its original wood beams and some pew style seating. The cosy, homely atmosphere make it feel more like a country inn than a suburban pub. Look out for the detached beer garden set adjacent to the main road.

First visit to WTLGI after trying for months and months to book a table. It was well worth the wait. The food, the wine flight and the amazing service from all staff members was personal i have never been to a restaurant and been seeved by every visible member of staff with such a wealth of knowledge about what they were delivering to the table. What we can only describe as a phenomenal experience in a vibrant setting. I have a massive phobia of pears (mad i know) so when the dessert was delivered and there sat a conference pear I almost landed it onto my husbands plate but no I ate it and I'm so glad I did as Jess certainly knows how to create a food explosion in the mouth. It was delivered with a cake a crumble and a broth custard and in my opinion the absolute best dessert I've ever had. I can't say anything more about this hidden from sight gem. We will be back.

Unassuming pub that’s serving several well kept ales. There was a local ukulele group doing a practice session in lounge when I popped in which added to the ambience. Apologies if I’ve got that wrong guys but it was very nice. Also has a darts board. 🍻 🎯 🎻
