Nice welcome and the host tried hard but the choice and fruity language from other customers ruined it for us

1st time for Sunday lunch today service and food excellent 2 new people running it at moment I can recommend it 100% considering they have only been here for just over 3weeks they put on a great meal

Me and my partner had sunday dinner on 26/02/23 we loved it my partner had soup i had garlic mushroom both startets where great i had beef and gamon my partner had turkey and beef plenty of veg all lovely. nice gravy and roast spuds where crispy we enjoyed so much we booked for next suday

Lovely pub always has been, plenty of character. I had a gorgeous meal there with my family today. Great food will definitely be calling in again soon. And I did booked a Birthday Buffet for friends + family 1/12/22. Fantastic food vegan ( kept separate of course) + non-vegan. Highly recommended!!!

Havnt eaten so cant comment on that but it always smells good. The service is great. The staff are helpful, accommodating and great at what they do. Kids and dogs welcome. Cheap beer, what more could you ask for!!!! Highly recommend!

Sunday lunch was delicious, veg was all fresh, gravy and roasties are home made. Staff were attentive and we were asked on several occasions if we would like any more veg, gravy or cauliflower cheese. Other places would charge extra for this benefit! Will definitely go again

Had Sunday lunch today and it was awful and a very long wait for indelible food. My 2 daughters had soup and was sent with a sesame seeded burger roll never seen that before and tasted like a bows of curry sauce. Then finally 1hr 30 min after ariving our dinners came, me and my daughter sent ours back. All the Yorkshire puddings and stuffing was burnt and hard as bricks, the meat was scraps and very little for the price, tinned carrots, mushy sprouts and the cauliflower cheese was soggy and been sitting there a very long time and was only good for the bin. I would never send out food looking like that. Had Sunday lunch here in the past but this was awful. We refused to pay the full amount and only paid because some of my family did eat a small amount ,the meat came home for the dogs. Very disappointing as the staff were lovely and apologetic about the wait. such a lovely pub but food let's it down badly. And deleted my review on Facebook.

If I could give this no stars then I would! From the reviews I can clearly see that over all people r happy and enjoyed there visit! However my complaint is not about the food atmosphere staff or experience . To keep it short an incident took place on Sunday we’re a leg had broken off one of the chairs and that other chairs were also in poor condition. It had not only caused a fall to the floor and a painful injury yet not severe it had also caused upset and embarrassment . We contacted the establishment to let them know and if nothing else an apology given but the reply was let’s say a little defensive. They claim to have cctv footage of the incident but this does not explain the obvious upset caused. If anyone reading this suffers anxiety and u r the sort of person that doesn’t like to complain or speak up.. and I know many people don’t like to then the experience that actually took place is very different. I’m very angry that someone who should put there customers first can not even admit that something happened on there premisses and r refusing to take blame.. the furniture was in poor condition and a few people there had witnessed it so! The matter will not be taking a legal route but a bloody apology wouldn’t cost them anything!!

Excellent food and price. Very considerate about the fact that we had ordered vegan food and that they were informed of a milk allergy (surfaces wiped down and cleaned to avoid cross contamination), this did mean that there was a longer wait for the food, but I didn't mind this. I definitely will be back.

Our first visit to the Cross Inn and it didn't disappoint, we had Sunday Lunch (Roast Beef with all the trimmings) beautifully cooked and presented, real gravy! Friendly and helpful staff made you very welcome; will definitely be going again. Thank you Cross Inn.

I have to say how lovely, friendly and welcoming the owners and staff are. Since the new landlords have taken over some time ago now, they have made such an overall improvement. Not many family friendly local pubs in the area.They certainly have made a great effort in making kids welcome. The landlady always makes a fuss of our daughter every time we visit. Thank you.

Had a meal which was very good, we had to have it in bar which was not very comfortable.

Terrible experience ordered dry rose wine didnt know what that was got sweet wine Sunday lunch arrived cold waiter zapped veg again in microwave still cold Yorkshire cold roasties cold dinner altogether wanted to zap dinner in microwave and offered to take only 50% off bill !! Never to return customer service terrible

Cosy small pub. Only had a drink but still doing waitress service? Took ages to serve us and by the time waitress brought drinks change etc. Couldn't have a chat too busy working out what we all owed. Why can't we get service at the bar now?

We went for lunch quite good Steak Pie was fine plenty of beef but chips were really greasy triple cooked once too often in my opinion. OK but won't be rushing back

Lovely food and staff really nuce

We have eaten at the Cross quite a cew times in the last couple of years and have always found their food to be excellent and reasonably priced too. We have been three times in the last week since the pubs opened back up. Today, sadly, we were left disappointed (for the first time ever). We ordered the corned beef pie with mash, peas and gravy (2 for £15). The pie itself was somewhat bland with very little flavour which is unlike the otber food we order at the Cross. The pie also seemed somewhat under done with soggy pastry. The worst traversty was the mash, lumpy, bland and watery (the worst mash I and my wife have had). Thank goodness for the lovely gravy to hide everything. I have given three stars as I have left five star reviews previously so assume this was hopefully a one off!

Nicely kept beer garden. Was told by one of the staff that they are open for breakfast and then serving food for the remainder of the day. Will ensure that I visit soon to hopefully enjoy the food.

Went for meal last week here got to say very impressed owner and husband very helpful could not do enough for us we were a party of 8 meals good size portions like it when your not hungry after a meal rather have more than less I would recommend this place choice of meals fab all our party enjoyed no complaints will be going back soon

Hadn't been before so just called in on the hop ...owners only been here 3 weeks .we ordered food and it was beautiful. I had freshly made lasagna my husband had the best gammon and my 15 yr old girl loved her scampi clean plates all round owners were great very friendly and attentive as its local will definitely come again .

We called in tonight and the place was very busy. We had to wait a little longer for our food but was kept updated and even offered a free drink or dessert. The food was worth waiting for😋. The new owners were really friendly and it was lovely to meet them. We will definitely be returning and would totally recommend to others. 😊

Food was fantastic had half chicken, daughter had the gammon 2 for £12 couldn't cook it for that. Was piping hot and massive for the price.would 100% recommend.staff very polite and helpful. Will be back to try their fish xx

Freezing cold, barmaid had her mind on other things while serving us, toilets bit disgusting, dog running around in bar area, give it a miss.

I havent been to the Cross Inn for many many years but as we now live in the nearby area we decided to visit it last Saturday 9th March 2019 on the way back from the gym. We ordrred from the friendly lady behind the bar and waited for our food. When it arrived we very very pleased real chips and fresh salad accompanied our meals. My wife had the Tex Mex which comprised of succulent chicken breasts beautifully seasoned and I had the Pepper burger which was juicy and accompanied by tge nicest peppercorn sauce I have eaten. Indeed, we enoyed the meal so much we ate there again tonight (12th March) and feel we will eat there far more often. It is like a new discovery. It also has lovely views and retains a lovely character.

The Sunday dinner here is the best I have had in a long time and the price you can not beat a xlarge dinner is only 7.50 that is the best value for money you can ever have thanks to all the workers thay are very welcoming and lovely thanks

Nice pub with good meals and a nice pint

Wasn't the best meal ever. The starter looked as if it had been prepared using defrosted prawns then refrozen and thawed to be served again. The steak was very chewy and not cooked medium rare as requested. The girls serving were friendly but not the most professional. Good play area for the kids though

Main course was piping hot, but dessert was a shambles. The 'hot' chocolate fudge cake was cold, the apple pie was cold and the waffle was rock hard when it was cut into it was burnt, was more like a biscuit. Such a shame as food here is normally lovely. When we tried saying about it, the lady behind the bar wasn't aware that the kitchen staff had even left. Don't know what happened there, they must have been having an off day.

Went here last Saturday, what an experience!! Went for a rare meal out with my fiance, who suffers from a food allergy. We stated this whilst ordering out food & the unwanted item was found amongst his salad!?! Extreme case of cross contamination! Could have landed him in hospital, so we asked to see the manager who got extremely aggressive & told us never to return! We only wanted an appology. Beware The Cross if you have a food allergy!!

Lovely quiet put for a meal. The lounge is separate from the bar so great for I quiet meal and they have plenty of room for large groups. The food is very good and and a reasonable price.

Popped in for lunch and kill time, menu was aimed at evening rather than lunch time, with no snacks apart from three or four omelette choices, jacket potatoes, plain, cheese and cheese and beans or sausage and chips. Country pub with no hame egg and chips, trio of sausage and mash with gravy, sandwich combinations, found this odd, but hey ho! Pub is very plain inside, missing something to brighten up, like photos or such on walls that were bare and white / stone, just felt a little clinical and bare/cold. A kid a couple of tables away banging his feet constantly against the bench seat he was on, parents didn't say a thing as my blood boiled from the annoyance. This may be reflected in the review, but we all have that one thing that boils our blood and grinds our gears.
