This is a lovely local pub serving fabulous food. Enjoyed a great Sunday lunch today with locally sourced meat from Mold butcher. Good beer & wine selection too. Barmaid ‘Jam’ & waitress (Jams daughter) looked after us really well today. New pub owners Bex and Antony have made a really great start to their new business & have created a lovely vibe to the place- continuing the Cross Foxes popularity for both locals & visitors to the village.

A friendly local pub with a varied menu. Standard of service was excellent and the quality of food and price bears comparison with much higher priced restaurants in the area. Would visit again.

Perhaps we were just unlucky, from the reviews we expected a better standard of meal than we got. The chicken pie was a slice, rather than an individual pie and did not taste fresh. The rest of the food was nice, but nothing special. We will not return.

Went for Sunday 5lunch .old fashion pub that has had some re furbishments completed by the new managers, to create,a,new ,light and airy dinning room, yet still keeping the original old pub side. Starters.Mushrooms in sauce very nice. Chicken wings,so delicious could have eaten them as a mains on there own. Mains .Roast beef ,Turkey and pigs in blankets. All cooked to perfection. Deserts.Apple pie pastry, light, well cooked, full of apple, not to sweet or sharp. Sticky toffee pudding ,light pudding ,and just the correct amount of sauce .All meals very good size portions, all served to the table. Good price , good friendly service.Good atmosphere. Very pleasant surroundings, in a very nice village.. Need to book as got very busy Will be going back.

Good local pub, recently changed hands. Sunday dinner; Meat, gravy, yorkshire and swede were really good, greens were OK, stuffing and roasties a bit hard. Honestly, service was too slow. Plenty of opportunities to clear our plates were overlooked and staff stood around a bit. Not a criticism, just an observation from one waiter to another. Great price, great choice, great portion size and lovely starter and dessert. Best of luck 👍

5 of us went for Sunday lunch.Having read the 5*ratings .The pub itself and staff very nice ,very out in country ,infact could do with more signs ,and sign to say you can use the carpark at pub,as people parked on road . The Sunday roast was not upto the standard, of the reviews given .. Beef very tough, mash was sloppy, and roast potatoes were not as usual roasties, hard ,more like boiled new pots covered in fat and herbs and slightly roasted. ,also one small dish of peas and carrots for 5 .was inadequate. Desert of sticky toffee pudding was very nice but to much sauce on 2 and hardly any on the other one. Plus could offer nothing for non dairy person who they new when booking was non dairy. All of us said it was not good and expensive for what we had.

We were staying locally in a cottage and had done some review searching and this pub was top of the list to visit. We visited every day for a cheeky pint/glass of wine and we weer always greeted with a friendly welcome and a smile. We ate here twice as the food was amazing. This is NO pub grub, the food was 100% handmade and just simply delicious. The chicken burger and chips was Hot, and very tasty with a lovely garnish. The pie and pint was exceptional value for money (Thursday) I don't like pie, however on our second night Friday, they offered the pie without the pastry for me, WOW!! the filling was plentiful with huge chunks of chicken, ham and leek. Hubbie opted for the lamb dish and again stunning food. another great thing about this place is that it is dog friendly! We would 100% go back here if we were in the area and would highly recommend!

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We've been twice now for Sunday lunch and initially thought £9.95 was good value for one course, although we don't like not having table service; i.e. having to order at the bar like a chain pub. It's not so relaxing or a treat as Sunday lunch out 'should' be, especially having to get up during a meal and come out of the restaurant to queue at the bar again to order coffee or pudding when you just want to chill with the kids and enjoy a break. In addition, although the Yorkshires, roast potatoes, veg and gravy were all good, we left feeling hungry still and a bit fed up. This was because the meat (beef in my case) although tasty, was sliced wafer thin and there was only two slices. This meant you finished the meat way before the rest of the food, then didn't enjoy the rest as potatoes etc are a bit boring without the main act to accompany them. We are used locally, to Sunday roasts being two thick slices at least of meat, (slightly pink roast beef is our heaven) so the plate is balanced well between the meat and veg. We think it's a real pity about the meat as otherwise would've have rated it much higher, as we like the pub and I'm writing this in the hopes they might review the portions and adjust. We'd much rather pay a bit more and leave with our appetites satisfied and give our order at the table like you can at most of the other pubs in the area.

We visited the Cross Foxes last night for our Christmas party and took over the restaurant. Food was great - excellent home cooked roast dinner, piping hot, for 32 of us. No mean feat when the 32 meals included veggie, vegan and gluten free variations (really tasty turkey, beef, nut roast, stuffed mushrooms, and very generous portions.) We were so well looked after - staff all lovely and cheerfully coping with us, despite us being in fancy dress and singing and dancing. Lovely, lovely evening - thank you Janet and everyone. I’d definitely recommend the pub and Im looking forward to eating there again.

We often pop in here on the way back from days out, especially during the winter as they have a wonderfully welcoming coal fire roaring away. The staff are lovely and as soon as you walk in, it's like receiving a hug from friends. Even the locals are happy to greet you on arrival. The pub serves good food, especially the Sunday lunch which is absolutely faultless. Good portions and well presented. Puddings are a must! They always have a couple of local ales on tap which I'm always excited to try. The pub itself is oldworldly, just how they should be. I love this place, it's just one of those places you can visit and know you will enjoy every minute.
