Very tasty-but £11 for a small toastie and mini bowl of soup?? Staff friendly, cafe has a high standard of hygiene-but don’t go if you want value for money!

Ordered 2 cappuccino’s & it said cappuccino’s on the screen. However, when order was called out the waitress said “ 2lattes”. I corrected her & said “no we ordered 2 cappuccinos, not lattes”. Instead of making us new drinks, she put some chocolate dust on it & handed it back to us. Poor service, would have taken a few minutes to make us the correct drinks…. Nothing worse having a milky coffee when your after a strong one

Was here for the 1st time in ages and pleased to say had a lovely coffee and cake! My cake was vegan coffee and walnut cake and my coffee was a soya cappuccino! Delish and nicely presented. The cake was moist and light and really nice frosting. Well done Coffee Press! Will be back to sample lunch sometime soon!

Visited the Coffee Press this morning for the first time and will definitely be back. We were looking for somewhere for breakfast after my son's swimming lesson and we have found a little gem. The food was amazing (my husband commented that it was one of the best if not the best breakfast he's had out and he's very hard to please!). I absolutely loved my traditional eggs benedict, the best I've tasted! Staff were really welcoming and friendly and I would highly recommend.

All tables filled this morning for breakfast: why? ‘ Cause the Coffee Press is perfect!! Quality of food goes without saying for those who know the press. Preparation and service is unique to the Coffee Press. It was so lovely to see Jacqui after nearly three years!!

Had a stressful meeting with my brother here. We sat outside,(yep I smoke), we enjoyed what I declared to be, "The best coffee in Kilmarnock!". We were served beautifully, by two beautiful baristas, who helped turn a stressful family meeting into a warm and pleasant experience. Heaven knows what the food was like, I am currently making mental plans to return to sample their wares. I have no recollection as to how much we paid for our coffees, but when you have the pleasure of being served by people who excel at their craft... HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

A fairly small cafe/restaurant, but with a pleasant ambience, food and beverages expensive , soup £4.15 . I requested eggs, beans on toast, but was told they don`t serve it after 11.30 am, so I was 10 minutes too late. We decided to take our beverages outside to enjoy the sunshine ,as there were three exterior tables, although the one we picked was shaky. As we received our complimentary vitamin D , we felt a little unsafe due to the amount of vagrants in the vicinity passing by, I told my partner to hold onto her bag.

Any time I am in the Kilmarnock area and fancy something to eat, this is my first choice to visit and recently I thought it was about time to write a review. I had a lot of time to kill though the day recently so popped along to The Coffee Press for breakfast. I first ordered a Latte (delicious as always) then opted for one of their cooked breakfasts. Well presented using really lovely quality ingredients. I followed this up later with another Latte. I had a lot of time to kill, which I mentioned to the owner, who was happy for me to spend time there, even though they were very busy, which was really appreciated. The service here is always first class and I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Popped in the other day for a bite to eat, the specials in here are exactly that. I had Smashed avocado on toast with poached eggs, think was less than £6. I fancied the big breakfast but took chance on this as I'm not to fussed on avocado. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection, the eggs didn't taste like regular eggs they were extra special too. If you like great food at great prices you can't go wrong at the Coffee Press. Staff are very nice also. Thanks so much!

went to our first supper Saturday night, (Aug 20/2016) and what a wonderful feast it was. I lived in Caribbean for a shortish spell and never had anything as good as this! Everything tasted so fresh, really nicely presented by excellent staff aided by proprietor/chef. A member of the team had already told me "Alistair never settles for second best" and did this not describe the evening to perfection! Atmosphere was quite exceptional also: pleasant chatter, quiet and tasteful music. So rare these days to have such a sumptuous meal in such a pleasant environment with no rush or chaos. We will return for another supper for sure! Mind you I am a pretty regular Saturday morning breakfaster where everything is as you would want it: excellent food of obviously high quality, reasonably priced, and, best of all, the staff will serve whatever you want...within reason!!

Thought I'd try something different for lunch on the go.Popped into the shop and was impressed with the choice on offer. Ordered a roll , coffee and a cake. The coffee was ok, as was the roll. Nothing amazing but ok. Was a bit taken aback by the price though for a takeaway lunch. £7.50? At that price I could've had a sit in lunch somewhere else. £2.50 for a small coffee and £2 for a standard muffin. £4.50 for that alone! The food was ok but the price does not reflect the standard or location. It's not central Edinburgh!

I have lived in Kilmarnock for a long time, and I can say with all my heart that this my favourite café. Sadly Merchants closed which if I'm correct was owned by the same man (it was closed because the owner decided to, not for any problems) but this café is a good heir. Perfect for breakfast, snack and lunch with cakes, rolls, soups and a full Scottish breakfast! The service is fast, food high quality and very well maintained. Also, once a month they have a supper club. This offers a selection of foods all around a theme, it's bring your own bottle and is exceptional. For example April 2016's theme was Greek. You have to ask to book, but it is definitely worth it.

Have breakfast here mostly on Saturdays. The light breakfast of bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomato with toast and juice is just enough to get you through the day without feeling stuffed and without the major calorie overload. Having been here on many occasions I recently took my 1 1/2 year old grandson in for breakfast, I had a roll and a coffee, for him I asked for a single slice of French toast, food was as good as ever, but, when I went to pay the bill it was WAY TOO HIGH for what we had, or was that just my expectations! my filled breakfast roll and coffee regular price but how much for a single slice of French toast for a 1 year old? £3:80, yes £3:80, for this I could easily have bought a dozen cheap loaves, a dozen eggs and a massive carton of milk! I questioned this price and the girl said the boss told her to charge for a regular menu sized portion, I refused and the price was halved, still too much by far, but I paid and left, I still rate The Coffee Press highly for food quality and normally high on value for money, but come on, let common sense prevail. I have been back for my usual breakfast but alas grandson was excluded from having what has been up to now the most expensive single slice of French toast in Killie!

Went for breakfast at The Coffee Press as a party of 4 (3 adults, 1 infant). I had the Spanish Style Scrambled eggs and a skinny latte (lovely), my wife had the Coffee Press Breakfast (fry up) which comes with orange or apple juice and she also had a tea (really enjoyed it), my cousin had an orange juice and french toast with bacon and maple syrup which she really enjoyed. This cost £20.75 all in and the staff were very helpful and cheery. I would return...

Scottish-themed tapas night last Saturday - 29th Nov. The smoked salmon pate blinis scallops on Stornoway black pudding Cullen Skink and venison stew to name just some of the dishes prepared and served by a most amiable chef and his 2 staff were all excellent. The only thing I could fault was the fact that it is not open on Christmas Day. Oh - and I also thought the espresso was good.

If there is one thing in life that we enjoy, it is good, flavoursome, freshly ground coffee. And so, if you too enjoy good coffee, do not visit this restaurant with that expectation, because today we have had just about the worst cup of coffee ever. Weak, insipid and barely drinkable. And, as if that weren't enough, not one of the staff acknowledged the Royal Navy cyclists who bought their lunch there, en route from Lands End to John o'Groats raising money for charity. Poor show.

Came for a hearty breakfast which duly arrived as advertised, helpfully served all day on a Sunday. Parking is easy enough at weekends but costly during the week. The menu is very varied and interesting with premium prices. My coffee was very weak and barely drinkable, not improved after asking for a second cup with the request that it should be stronger.Staff were average and apparently very busy. Decor is fine and the view from the window is the every day coming and goings of shoppers, etc. This is the old Kilmarnock Standard offices and a statue of a person reading this paper is located in the street nearby.

I love macaroni cheese and find it hard to choose anything else once I find it on a menu... So much so that I have a bit of a league table going on in my head. Coffee press' mac and cheese with bacon was excellent with just the right amount of wholegrain mustard in the cheese sauce.Even the side salad was great with sundried tomatoes and a nice mix of leaves with a balsamic dressing. The pasta, bacon and side salad came in under 7 bucks. This mac and cheese is only second to the county's dish in Stornoway.

Been here a few times, it’s always had long waiting times but the place is a shambles. About 8 members of staff and no structure, they all do a bit of everything but don’t actually finish anything. Lack of control or structure leads to delays. Arrived and no order taken after the 20 p mins. Table next to us even said they’re before us. We then get one drink but had to ask for my coffee twice. The lady apologies, starts making it and wanders off again. Food comes, baked potato dry and table next to us said the same. We had to ask two seperate waitresses for condiments. Sat waiting to eat our meal. Table next to us get theirs and the waitress drops half their chips on the table and walks off. No replacement or apology. Then go to pay and stand with again no apology for the wait whilst 3 of them around the till. Showing a girl how to use it but 3 of you! Will not be back!!?
