we called in for lunch and the rooms were bright clean and airy. Food was really good and freshly prepared alas coffee could have been better (I have a thing about coffee so could be me being to fussy)but apart from that we were very pleased with everything.

This is our second visit to The Coffee Bean We had the small cooked breakfast and a large cooked breakfast. latte and orange juice. The sausages and bacon were good quality and everything was cooked to perfection . We both asked if we could substitute something on our plate eg mushrooms instead of beans and an extra sausage instead of tomatoes . This was no problem Staff were polite and friendly Everything was clean and tidy - social distancing in the coffee shop Would not hesitate to go back and highly recommend

Waiting staff are lovely and helpful, unfortunately we found half the food disappointing. Burnt toast, microwaved beans and microwaved and watery scrambled eggs and the chef wasn’t wearing a hat. Staff did their best to rectify the problem. Will give this place another go in the new year.

Arrived at 2.30 shown to our table next to the open door keeping us cool. Afternoon tea arrived and was rather impressive. Plenty of well filled sandwiches, large fruit scone with jam and cream, generous slice of Victoria sandwich with plenty of tea and coffee. Will definitely be booking again. Thank you for a lovely afternoon tea.

we booked as a large party, 20 of us. The service was brilliant, coffee and tea topped up continuously. The sandwiches had fresh fillings and the bread was different types. There was a slice of sponge cake and a scone. Our scone was very stale. Maybe been frozen and

I feel like I'm transporting back some years entering this beautiful and quaint cafe. The coffee is freshly ground for you and you can also buy it here also to take home with you. A lovely home cooked menu awaits you also and a waitress service is provided. Well worth a visit.

I guess when you have to cater for the masses you need to offer a wide range of food. When I noticed the name of this place I thought more coffee house than cafe. In reality it's more of a cafe than a coffee house. However the cake was nice. Trea served properly and hot. I had to ask for a serviette but service was friendly and prompt. No Wi-Fi. But o would return.

First time back in here this year and must say they have changed choices, less of a nice coffee shop with a big range of coffees more of a run of the mill cafe. Disappointed in the sandwiches now compared to last time I was in. Would not say avoid but I will not be going out my way to visit anymore

The service was very good as was the food. It is very clean but the smell of fried food was unpleasant. My friend felt sick and the smell lingered on my coat. Maybe investment in a powerful extractor fan as the cooking is done in the middle of the restaurant. This has put me, off from visiting again.

Came here with a friend, nice place to sit and eat and have a chat, nice boy served us who was polite. There was enough space and seating for everybody and wasn't noisy like you get in some places. My friend had the beef stew which was lovely and just what you need for an October day, I had the breakfast which was good, good quality food. Will definitely come here again

Went with the family of a Sunday afternoon. Between us we had afternoon tea, savoury tea and a cream tea. Couldn’t fault the quality, quantity, choice or value for money. Plus, the staff were so very friendly and really made us feel welcome. Will definitely return. Thanks!

We'd chosen what must have been the wettest day of our unseasonably hot summer for a trip to Clacton. It started to rain as we reached the outskirts of the town and by the time we had parked the car it obvious that we would get wet within a few minutes. We'd parked off the High Street and walked from the car park by the exit on that street. We'd planned to eat as soon as arrived in town and within a matter of yards came across The Coffee Bean Cafe, so we crossed the road to investigate. The menu seemed very promising so we entered and found a seat by the window. The menu was quite comprehensive.Whilst we were making up our minds a polite young man arrived to see if we were ready to order. We hadn't so he took our drinks order and fulfilled them in time to take our meals order. Both drinks and food were provided in a timely manner and set the standard for the service we received throughout. My partner visited the toilet early in out visit and commented that the toilet seat was loose. Not usually a problem for a male like me but nonetheless of some concern. Half an hour later when I visited the same toilet I passed the proprietor come out of it. I observed that the toilet seat was now firmly fixed so it appears that prompt action was taken when the problem was made known. Excellent! The facilities were clean as you should expect but don't always get in other establishments.Summarising our order I can say that we were provided with a large pot of tea with a container of hot water for topping up, sufficient milk and a tea strainer. The crockery was clean and chip free. My partner had ham, egg and chips which she thoroughly enjoyed whilst I had sausage and mash with onion gravy which I too enjoyed. Both meals were well cooked and for my part I can say that the sausages were very tasty and well cooked fully complimented by the onion gravy which was the best I've tasted for several years. We finished off with dessert - Cheesecake with cream for my partner and pancakes with honey and ice cream for myself. Each portion was of a good size and very tasty. We were very pleased with everything. I would add that there is plenty of indoor seating and I believe I saw a sign mentioning outdoor seating too - but not on a wet day like today. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant (cafe doesn't do it justice!) and we would return if we were in the area again.Congratulations to the team for a great experience on a very wet day! Thank you.

Kids popped in for a toastie which they loved and at £3.20. They can recommend. The cakes and sweets looked good too. My only complaint was my flat white was a white Americano and wasn't to my taste. Otherwise great and worth a visit.

I went with my wife for afternoon tea. The food was lovely and plentiful as was the tea. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. They even provided boxes so we could take home some of the food we were unable to finish. We decided to try the coffee bean cafe following a recommendation and it definitely lived up to expectations.

This gorgeous little cafe is such an excellent place to stop for lunch...freshly made foods and lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for us....16 of us descended on the cafe one lunch time but this didn’t faze the staff at all...we also had with us a vegetarian and a non dairy eater..Between us the group chose baguettes, jacket potato, omlette all with salad and crisps...and a VERY reasonable price,,Wish we could have stayed for afternoon tea with a choice of the usual sweet one or an unusual savoury one.Homemade scrumptious cakes faced us for dessert....tooooo much choices.Looking forward to going there again August.....Definitly make this your lunch time visit !!Unable to select rating for this review but 10* overall

My husband and I were on holiday in Clacton and we looked through the window at the menu at an hour when the cafe was closed. The prices on the menu looked very reasonable so we decided to come here for breakfast the next day. When we came here we found a nice table by the front window. A young man came to take our order. I ordered two poached eggs on toast. My husband, being Dutch, has only recently got to like English breakfasts and he was unsure if he wanted two eggs on toast or beans on toast. So he asked the young man if he could possibly have one egg on toast and beans on the other slice of toast. But the young man appeared not to understand. So I explained that he would like half and half if that was ok, but his reply was, "No, two eggs on toast or beans on toast" So, realising that they were not going to do the half and half, (fair enough), I said he would have two scrambled eggs on toast. I asked the young man if the Latte coffee was a really large one and he said yes. So I ordered one. Unfortunately, my perception of a "really large one", was not the same as his perception, as the latte was in quite a small standard glass which narrows at the bottom. Nevermind, it tasted ok, although it was not actually piping hot, and because it wasn't that hot it was almost gone by the time the food was served. It was not cheap at £2.20 so I didn't order another one. My husband had cappuccino and he said that was ok.We did not have to wait long for our breakfasts to be served and they looked great. My poached eggs looked perfect, but................ both my eggs were SOLID! No runny yolk which I love. That really spoilt the breakfast for me.(That is not my idea of poached eggs). It was very nice to have two slices of toast each. The lady who was there, possibly the owner, was very friendly. This looks like a nice cafe, and although we might give it another try the next time we stay in Clacton in January, we probably won't be ordering breakfast there. I would have given this cafe an "excellent" rating if the poached eggs had not been solid and if my latte had been large and very hot. Those are the reasons that I rated it "average" this time around.

As the title says it was just ok. No gluten free options which was a shame as my wife is Coeliac and it is 2017.That said she chose an omelette which was well presented and tasty, I had a panini which again was very good however my In Laws had a toasted tea cake each and there was a question mark over whether they were as fresh as they should have been..both very hard. So just 3 out of 5 on this occasion but with a little work could be much better.

We popped in for a snack and were very impressed. We ordered bacon sandwiches for me and sausage sandwiches for my husband and both had coffee. The coffee arrived freshly brewed in a cafetiere, with lovely china cups and saucers. The sandwiches were served beautifully with a side of crisps and sauces. All served with a smile too. All this and it only came to £8.40. This cafe has 2 entrances. One in the road another in the market with seating outside. Well worth a visit.

I came here with my brother on Air Show day, just before the show started. The food was so good, I can't compliment it enough. We had two vegetarian breakfasts with tea. The China sets are lovely. However, although the food was great, the establishment seemed tired and not very well looked after. We had a dirty table with some of the cutlery having old food attached to it. The cups we had seemed stained or dirty on the inside and the floors needed a good sweep.I feel with the quality of food you get there, if more attention to detail was paid then this could be a great establishment.

First impressions may put you off from entering, as the decor is a little tired. However give this establishment a chance and you may be pleasantly surprised. This coffee shop provided me with a much needed cup of tea and a baked potato with a generous portion of chilli. Especially welcome as I had spent the best part of 5 hours travelling to Clacton on Sea for a meeting. The staff were warm, welcoming and efficient. Leaf tea served in china cups is something of a rarety in this age of fast food; but they have a good choice of teas. If you prefer coffee the selection available is also good.Next time I visit I plan to try the afternoon tea!!
