Absolutely lovely food! Good service. Good food. Good staff. Always got people continuously in and out. Always fresh. Will be back again

They crowd the store to attract other stores and customers to show that their store is very busy. Causes unnecessary suffering to people just to get attentio… just Waste of time here..

Waited 20 mins in queue after ordering food to be told once it came to them making my order that they had sold out and id have to wait another 20 mins. They served every just eat driver no problem. Surely they should prioritise customers that come into the shop not online orders that cost them money. This is not the first time it has happened I was waiting 45 minutes a few weeks ago for my order to be cooked and they served another person while I was waiting and gave them half of my order that was ready meaning I had to wait again for them to be made. It’s just badly organised it’s supposed to be fast food.

Obviously best fish and chips in town. Staff is great, do not have to wait forever. 5+ Depends, today had the old one fishy I couldnt (not even starve) eat. So yes, depends of the day.

Food is always good. Price is a bit above normal chip shops. But you get what you pay for.

Only person in shop stood for 20 mins after taking payment at half 9 at night. All staff making just eat orders.

Always good, would like the chips to have a crispy finish and fluffy inside a bit more but that's just me everyone to their own.

Nice food but don't bother calling to order for collection, got told 20 mins, got there and they didn't even start my order? What's point in ordering for collection if they're not going to start cooking it untill you turn up?

Been in tonight , had to wait for just eat orders to be done nearly 25 mins,, all a wanted was large chips and 3 sausage ,gets home , she's done me out of a large sausage 😫

Having used codfather for a fews year as a regular customer. I feel us regulars are getting pushed to the back off the que ....all they seem to be intested in is people ordering online ..my last visit I waited nearly an hr for fish n chips ...when I got home they were only a hand full of chips the fish was driping in oil which should have been left to drain

Just been to Zante for two weeks and called here after landing, just as we got back into Barnsley. I had Donner Kebab and chips. Best meal of the whole fortnight.

Ordered at 6.01pm, it's not 7.53pm and still not been delivered. Called multiple times to ask and just told it's busy. Very disappointing.

Terrible! Fish extreamley greasy and more batter than fish , half the skin left on the fish, poor quality , peas tasted burnt . Manager telling staff off in front of customers and very rude. Never again

Food was very nice but it seemed to take forever to get served, sadly.

Some of the chips were still raw, perhaps they would have been cooked properly if the woman serving us wasn't busy telling the very uninterested customers in front of us her entire life story. They gave us gravy instead of curry sauce, we are vegetarians. We were waiting around for about ten minutes in the freezing cold before we were served. Only go to the codfather if you like being talked at.

Codfather is the best fish and chip shop around barnsley. Ay don't take my word for it go try it yourself you will not be disappointed at all .⁹

Very busy but there's a reason for that. Must be one of the best chippy around.

Always a good meal from the Codfather, whether you go for a full chippy tea or for the fish bites special (fish bites are the way forward!) you can’t go wrong. The prices are good, service is quick and the food is almost always fresh out the fryers thanks to the number of people that also appreciate the quality of food from here!

Best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Potatoes are handmade and cod’s are fresh, there is always queue in front of the shop.

The service is just far too slow. I don’t mind waiting for fresh fish, whilst it cooks, but the fish I got had been sat in the counter ready for 20 minutes. I was in the shop so long, my coat, clothing, and hair smells of the place.

The food is good but service very poor. Customers in the shop should be priority not that delivery apps. They need a separate staff member for the delivery items so it doesn’t impact the customers in the shop. They also need better management of the food area as has to wait ages as no fish or chips…in a chippie 😂 😆

Godfather is a good chippy but sometimes the chips are a little under cooked and still pale

As nice as always, can't even mark them down on service despite generally always having to q. Q is caused by the fact it's one of best chippies in Barnsley 👍🏻

If i order now i will receive tomorrow, i see the driver on the uber app he stay on the shop 1 hour for my food and after he need to travel 10 min, my food was horrible after this long whit i will cook whit my self. Don't recommended anymore bad staff at this shop .

Wheiting nearly 2 hours, the delivery time on the app kept changing. The app said the driver was at the shop 1 hour before he set off, when I called the shop they said had been waiting for a driver rude staff we have the app and will receive info in real time. Not happy about this shop.

I went here years ago and loved it only stopped going because I moved, after driving past we decided to call we got 2 mixed kebabs and they didn't disappoint its the best kebab I've ever tasted the staff were amazing it was very busy and the staff were amazing

This place had gone badly downhill. It used to be really good, but the last few times I've been it has been disappointing and today the food was really bad - rubbery batter and everything swimming in grease. Really nasty. They are clearly overwhelmed by delivery orders and telephone orders, so if you go in person, be prepared to wait ages to be served and then even longer to actually get your food. There used to be a woman who worked there who seemed to have everything under control, but I've not seen her for a while, and without her the place is in total chaos. I hope they manage to get themselves sorted out, but after a few disappointing experiences, it's going to be a long time before I go back.

The quality and crispness of the batter is awesome. The chips are cooked in a tasty batter that makes them so difficult not to finish!

We usually buy from here but think it must be going downhill as today the fish tasted awful batter fell off and the chips tasted like cardboard. The assistant who served our order charged us for stuff that we hadn't ordered until my partner queried the £4.00 overcharge. Sorry CODFATHER you have lost our custom now as most of it went in the bin!!

Been today first time in a couple of years It was horrible 2 large battered sausage definitely not fresh and soggy Chips white has snow had a cardboard taste to them Definitely warmed up definitely not fresh It was 12 pm so it was probably yesterday's left overs One bite of sausage about 5 chips rest went in bin So you replied Can i say i know what potatoes you use I saw them getting delivered They are already peeled and chipped when you buy them I saw them getting delivered to you so not fresh are they They are bought in in bulk not freshly peeled chipped on your premises

Sick of just eat and uber being a priority so will now go elsewhere as its getting so bad

I do think the fish and chips are decent but I've just ordered a mix kebab. (Decent portion) too. But the chicken meat had a weird fish taste to it wasn't my cup of tea. Its probably decent chicken what I happened to don't like. The main concern was the chilli sauce. I genuinely thought it was ketchup sauce. So I sadly had to eat my kebab dry as the chili came in a really small tub and it was too sweet and tasted and looked more like ketchup. Kid enjoyed his nuggets so I think I'll just stick to the chippy side of things from this shop Quick service Good portions

Been going here for a long time and the food itself is as good as ever. Unfortunately they struggle to cope with the Just Eat orders, and prioritise these over the physical customers in the queue. A 10 minute wait today to order a kebab and an all day special (which is acceptable), then a further 35 minute wait to actually receive the food (and then only because we asked how much longer the wait would be). Think it's time for us to find a new chippy.

Pleasant staff loved the chips delicious and ate outside pleasant and clean surroundings

Good food but shameful acts by the staff and owner I was standing in the shop in the warm and two delivery drivers standing outside the shop with there bags for at least half an hour in the rain and cold both soaked to the bones there bags must have also be water logged. Lady took there time to get there orders ready. This shouldn't be happening in 2023 get these people some shelter if they are taking the time to deliver your orders !!!!!!

Ordering by telephone? Don’t bother…. I put a telephone order in to collect in 10 minutes ‘no problem’. Got to shop confirmed my telephone order and paid. 30 minutes later still waiting…. think they had actually forgot my order after I was the only one left waiting. Appalling service and didn’t even get an apology for the wait!

I don't like fish in Barnsley, as I'm from Leeds and we have the batter different. So I get a kebab, nice enough and if there is no queue I don't mind calling, it does get busy and it's small. Above 6 people without social distances and you have to stand outside.

Absolutely disgusting, in my honest opinion it caters for cheap and easy. The fish went in the bin, I should of known when I saw donna meat on the menu. I won’t be going back

I have been using cod farther for many years. Its not what I used to be. If you go for a takeaway they keep you waiting.

Best fish and chip shop for miles by Yorkshire standard. As a native of Liverpool I do find the menu very small as we don't have chines takeaway and fish and chips it's all the same even if run by English and or Greeks :) but to get back to codfather quantity is good staff are friendly and and value is good. Again to be clear they have a large menu ( by Yorkshire standard )
