The Clubhouse Kitchen & Bar in Darlington

Had a lovely meal here recently, nice food and good service.

First time at the Clubhouse. Was looking forward to a luxury lunch and was not disappointed. The food was well cooked and presented, maybe a little salty for my pallet but I'm sure that's personal preference. The only reason the food didn't get a 5 star rating was because the Yorkshire pudding wasn't crispy, I'm a northerner so take my Yorkshire puds seriously. Service by the staff was excellent, made to feel very welcome. The canned music was a little flowery for my taste, I'm sure it's to add a touch of class to the restaurant but it's just a bit old fashioned, again, personal taste. Well done team, you made my visit very enjoyable.

Brilliant food and service great atmosphere

Been going to Rockliffe club house for a long time . It’s changed quite a lot since its early days . Tried it again yesterday for a bite sat on the terrace overlooking golf links . Service efficient and quick however although the clubhouse menu hadn’t changed on paper the food served definitely has and not for the better 😕. Always go for the avacado wrap with side salad and fries usually splendid however not yesterday . The avacado was mushed into a paste and spread thinly over the wrap could hardly taste it . No tomato either and meanly served with limp leaves and overdressed with vinaigrette. The fries also were thin and barely warm . Has the Chef changed . It was poor and meanly served . My friend had the cheese and ham toasted sandwich again change of bread it was overdone on one side and soggy underneath . Looked unappealing to say the least and fries tasted as if they had been reheated and not nice to eat . What a shame things sliding downhill . Please take note . It’s a great venue but the food lets the whole name down .

Sunday Lunch was wonderful. I had the roast lamb and started with a prawn & shrimp cocktail, my wife had mushroom risotto and started with cheese souffle. An expensive treat, but great quality and service was exceptional. A spacious restaurant with a good view out onto the golf course, well... the putting green and first tee.

Enjoyed an early lunch here and it was simply amazing. Lovely food, friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere. Would highly recommend

Vile coffee can’t believe this would be served in hotel. Over priced breakfast served warming.

Walked here for dinner from a nearby hotel. Friendly service and great food (I had the steak).

Very poor experience for Fathers Day. Seated at a table with crumbs all over the floor. Baby chair was stained yellow, didn't look particularly clean. My toddler was served a pink inside sausage and waiter barely batted an eye lid when we complained. Staff generally unfriendly and the place lacks any form of atmosphere.

Looked after by Emily yesterday . Staff are all attentive but not overly & couldn’t be more helpful . Lovely setting relaxed dining eat outside on terrace with super comfy seating and overhead shelter . Piped music adds to ambience . The menu is very good and options for every taste & also flexibility to price fix .Yesterday wonderful tasty soup potato & truffle which was sublime and lovely bread . Fries the best there is crisp & golden & tasty . Club Sandwich always tip too well presented and generous tasty filling . Excellent Amstel Bier served perfect temperature for maximum taste . We love this place . Best food at Rockliffe . Better than the Orangery or Bistro . Full marks to all .

Very poor vegan options, the one I chose was disappointing. There was only ice cream/sorbet for dessert! There was no atmosphere at all. The coffee was lovely and the company was the best bit.

Sunday lunch simply dreadful. Place looks grubby and the floor to ceiling glass which should give lovely views across the golf course is not clean with many smears. Very basic starters and Tomato soup was pretty much Heinz. Only meat choice was beef or lamb. Beef was not sirloin and quite fatty. Waitress warned that the plates were hot, which they were not. Veg was lacklustre and Spring peas is an odd, out of season veg to serve in October. I have a better stocked bar at home and weirdly they do not take cash and give no reason why not. Won’t go back which is a shame as it used to be nice years ago

Once again, in the space of a couple of months I am having to post a negative review of the clubhouse lunch. From a party of three, our order was for two of the Macaroni Cheese. When it arrived, it was lukewarm at best and was a congealed gloopy mass. We mentioned this at the time and ŵere given an apology. By way of recompense we were given a free dessert but this did not cover the cost of the inedible Macaroni Cheese. As an aside, I’d like to mention that the last time I complained about lunch, which was never served, the reason given was that the Macaroni cheese is freshly made from scratch and takes a long time to serve. Todays offering might have been freshly made from scratch at some point but certainly not recently.

Not a great experience, booked for a birthday treat. Waited 35 minutes for our drinks to arrive after being told the order was lost. Main course was very good, pudding was cold. Card reader was not working correctly, waited an age to pay, seated next to the cutlery cupboard so interrupted everytime tables were reset,sorry won't be back.

The service and quality has been consistently good, the team can’t do enough for you in particular Helen who is running the golf bar side keep doing what you are all doing excellent 👍

Food is amazing service is very good . however run the hoover around whilst it's quiet. I understand its a club house but there was mud and grass on the carpets. Maintain that high standard 👌

Lovely meal. Food and service outstanding. Nice setting and plenty of space so you are not on top of other tables.

Service was very slow and food was no better than most pubs for twice the price , expectations exceeded experience .

Went for food during our stay at Rockliffe Hall, lovely atmosphere and food was very tasty. Staff were friendly, although service did seem slightly slow especially when ordering food and drinks.

Waited one hour for food then just OK Toby Carvery or Macdonald's would of been better. Won't be back.

Small portions but well done food. Don't watch sports though as atmosphere a bit glum. Polite staff albeit pretentious formality.

My husband & I went for Sunday lunch, in the clubhouse, the food was excellent along with the excellent service we got from Harry, he was amazing, so polite, friendly and give excellent customer service. Thank you

Menu not very exciting when we visited last week, feel it would be better to have separate lunch/dinner menu rather than one for all day. Food cooked well and presented nicely. Service ok considering social distancing/was quite busy. Will return in the future when the menu changes.

Met friends who were staying at Rockcliffe for a evening meal, and we thought the dining experience excellent. Never been before but restaurant was amazing food very good and the staff very attentive. Would like to visit again in the daytime to see the grounds properly but overall we were very impressed.

A very nice, if slightly expensive, location for a family meal with views over the adjacent golf course. Very good food, especially Sunday lunch, and a good choice of beers and wines. Part of the Rockcliffe Hall hotel and spa complex.

Myself and my wife both had a sirloin steak.My wife sent hers back as it was laced with garlic.My steak was tough and very gristly.Wonr be going back there in a hurry

We drove down from Gateshead for lunch yesterday having been given a gift voucher last Christmas by our kids. On arrival, never having been before, we were impressed by the magnificent drive into the complex and followed the signs between the Hall and Middlesborough FC Training Ground to The Clubhouse. We received an eager welcome by staff as we came through the doors, coats were taken and we were ushered to "the best table available" by our waiter. First impressions of the restaurant were that it was bright, modern, spacious, very comfortable and airy space with a quite spectacular view across the golf course. Service was efficient and friendly, and the food was delicious. We had a wonderful, leisurely lunch in lovely surroundings, served by very well trained and friendly staff. Loved it!

My Sister is getting married here soon, so thought i would come try the place before. The clubhouse was great, not what you think when you hear 'clubhouse' it is much better than you would expect. Food was great, huge portions and incredibly reasonable for a restaurant in a 5* hotel. Looking forward to the wedding now!!!
