First time here and I was made to feel very welcome, great atmosphere and friendly staff

Update: Due to actions surrounding the latest bouldering league competition, I'm disappointed in the center. Looks like decisions were made on hearsay, thus upsetting a climber the center should be promoting. A great place for new climbers, accomplished climbers and everything in between. The staff are lovely, the other climbers are really nice and helpful too. Recently joined as a member due to how much this place impressed me. The above is still valid.

Great bouldering wall with lots of interesting "problems". Very friendly atmosphere, good food & coffee. Superb helpful staff.

Great place to take the kids climbing

Disappointed with the recent climbing competitions. My son competed and was clearly better than their regulars, and rather than official people taking scores they rely on people just scoring themselves. the members at climbing hangar didn't believe my son (being 14) could possibly do better than them, therefore they disqualified him, based on saying he must be lying about the climbs he can do, even though he was one of the obvious best climbers there. Do better, THC. Hes Extremely hurt by this decision based on jealousy, and distrust.

Took my kids here on Wednesday. Overall super impressed, the staff were excellent (friendly, helpful and understanding about kids behaviour). Fern gave us a great introduction to the place and showed us around. Nice walls, love the kids room upstairs too. The vide was good, clientele was good too. We also enjoyed the sourdough pizza at the end. Will definitely be heading back…

Plenty of parking, good facilities such as changing rooms, shop, cafe etc. The centre wasn’t as big as other hangars I had been too but there were plenty of fun problems. Would visit again and recommend.

Great place to climb, routes constantly being updated. Great people working there and a great coffee shop. What with great vegan cakes and dishes it has it all and it's located near the city centre! *Update, unfortunately due to the hangar stopping early morning openings, and in the manner it was done I have reduced my rating and have left as a member. I am gutted as the staff and route setting are great.

Visited here today with my Son and Elderly Mum. Such amazing staff who went over and beyond.. Will definitely come back. Really felt a lovely welcome and not out of place at all. Highly recommend

We had our 8 year olds birthday here, not only were the instructors amazing. The kids had a blast and climbed more than any of them thought. Not to mention the fun games. Then.... The food was amazing, nothing was too much for the staff. Absolutely would recommend for any party

After me and my family went, I genuinely don't think it is beginner friendly or family friendly unless your going with a bunch of small children like the website said. The staff wasn't amazing either and seemed uninterested and even bothered by us coming up to them, we felt like everything we did was being judged. The people attending there who were visibly much more experienced also seemed to stare alot and again we felt extremely judged. It wasn't even that we were intimated but because we felt uncomfortable by the visible distaste for us being there for obviously being first timers. We did enjoy some of the climbing area but though being called the climbing hanger, there wasnt actually that much places to climb and majority of the building is just gym and cafe. Alot of the rules told to us weren't even followed by the regulars there so the safety aspect was pointless.

Great place and I'm happy to be a member! The staff are wicked friendly and are more than happy to help with anything. They serve tasty food and good beverages too! An all round 5 star place

Great way to spend a few hours. The staff at the climbing hanger were extremely friendly and made sure you got the most out of your time there.

Staff very helpful, 10 year old really enjoyed their experience. Dog was incredible. The facilities were awesome as well including the cafe :)

Awesome set up, I was expecting a draughty warehouse, but this place is very plush and welcoming. Nice cafe, loads of facilities, kids area, adult training area, brightly lit, showers. It's a great place for a rainy day. Negatives: climbing is addictive, and at £20 a time for dad and son, it soon adds up 😭 The staff are great. However, as in all sports, there are random self appointed "expert/coaches" who love to latch on to newbies and advise / demo, which is good at first, but can be irritating after a while. This is not unique to the Hangar, it's just a phenomena I've noticed. Edit : have since cancelled subscription. They kept taking money for another 6 months as the cancelling process is online and they cancelled the wrong person?? Overly complicated cancellation process. Make sure you get an email, and check the right membership has been canceled!

Visited on a Saturday, we hadn't booked but it didn't seem to be a problem. It was really really busy in the cafe/sign in area and although staff were pleasant and helpful I waited over 30mins for my hot drink. Before entering the bouldering area I was told I had to wait for my nephew to have an induction as he was the only one in the group to have not visited previously. We waited for an hour for a member of staff to do the induction but being so busy no one came, also the climbing area was again really busy and it made my son feel uncomfortable. In all we had a bad experience. We spent over £40 for 1adult, 2 children and 3 drinks. We were at the venue for almost 2 hrs and only 15mins of that was actual climbing before we gave up and left. Genuinely, I thought the staff were nice and helpful but there was definitely not enough staff to deal with the amount of customers. I wanted to ask for a refund for my nephew who never actually got to climb but there wasn't a staff member available. Also the place is cashless which is another real shame.

Where do I start, this is where I started my bouldering journey. The staff are amazing at making you feel welcome and will be there in a heartbeat if you are new or experienced and ask for help with beta or with anything really... I can't rave enough about this place it is honestly awesome. They run UV nights a few times a year so if you can I would keep an eye out for those. They also have their own coffee brand which you can just have a cup of or they even sell bags of it pre ground or in bean form if you are looking to take some of the deliciousness home. Highly highly recommended if you are thinking of starting your bouldering journey like me or even if you are an experienced climber and are looking for a good vibes home gym. Oh and the membership is one of the best priced I've seen (and I've been to a few gyms in my years of climbing now). They are also kid friendly with the minimum age for kids being 4 years I believe. So deffo fun for all :)

Friendly, encouraging staff who are inclusive of everyone. Wonderful cafe. Great climbing facilities. The food is really good quality and the atmosphere is really chilled. I often go there to work while my daughter climbs.

Great place to go for a taste of rock climbing. All levels of experience are catered for.

Lovely gym, clean and tidy- can get busy but not so you can't get on the wall.

Thought I’d write a review because I’ve never done one. This place is more than just a climbing gym. I’ve been going here for a year now and this place feels like home and everyone there feels like family. The staff are absolutely incredible, they’re not only extremely good at what they do, they are just so lovely too. Absolutely no other climbing gym can top this place. Yes it’s a small place but I’d choose this place over any other gym simply because of the wonderful atmosphere and staff. I went from a green/orange climber to a purple and reds climber in like 6 months thanks to their excellent free coaching classes every Thursday. I never even imagined I could get to that level and it’s all thanks to the knowledgeable staff who never judge you, they’re always there to 100% support you and that supportive atmosphere is what helped me progress so quickly. Keep it up guys! :)

I love the climbing hangar at Swamsea. Staff are all awesome. Varied and fun climbs for everyone. Good cafe and good vibes (usually good music too)

Brilliant sets for training from beginner to advanced climbing, good variety and nice spacious cafe to sit in comfort, nice to have a small shop on sight too.

My home gym, an awesome climbing centre, frequent setting, amazing staff, youth squad and training all topped off with a fresh healthy menu.. what’s not to love! ❤️

The atmosphere here was great. So friendly and welcoming. The wall itself is really accessible due to the lack of ropes and harnesses. This was great for my 10 year old who loves free climbing. Routes were not the easiest and provided a good challenge- the turquoise routes for smaller folk were a great idea. The cake was also lush! We've rated at 4 stars because we couldn't find the right size of climbing shoes (lots of people were climbing with the same size feet) which meant that he had shredded heels and the price of cake which was more expensive than the national trust.

Great gym with great staff and atmosphere. Everyone is always happy to help. Food and drink are also very good. Membership is reasonable and the classess alongside the membership are well run. All in all a very good place to be.

The kids really enjoyed the experience. My 12 year old rathers it than other places as it feels more grown up etc. Good cake and tea there also. Great place

Been once so far. Love it! Great range of challenges and no matter your skill level there's something for everyone. Didn't try their cafe range but looked really nice. Will be going again soon! ... Side note there was someone who injured themselves while I was there (because that will happen to everyone eventually... Part of the course 😂) but the team on shift reacted fast, effectively and controlled the situation brilliantly. Amazing example of the standards in place!!

I haven't tried the climbing here yet, however, the cafe is nice and the service is friendly.

We came here as a group of 4 families with a total of around 8 kids. It was a great visit. The staff looked after us really well, there was something for the kids of varying ages and the mums and dads pretending they still had the skills to climb. The smoothies were delicious and the espresso knocks your socks off. Thanks for a brill trip out.

Lovely climbing centre with a variety of grades and styles, incredibly welcoming atmosphere and accommodating facilities and staff. Reasonable prices (around £13 for a single entry and around £25 a month membership. Highly recommend giving it a go

Excellent bouldering centre. Ideal for complete beginners up to very experienced climbers. There are challenging routes for every ability.

Regularly stay in Swansea on business and climb here when I do. Big enough and varied enough for these occasional visits with a wide enough range of boulder problems (grades and styles) for me. Last visit was a Monday and busier than my previous visits (new routes had just been set and kids club in), but still enough room to find something to do. Also has a gym area.

Brilliant bouldering experience! Has plenty of range from easy routes to extrmeley challenging routes to cater for all abilities. Staff are very friendly ans has a lovely cafe also.

Amazing facility with the most friendly staff, really accommodating and quick to answer any questions or concerns you may have. I tore my hands up quite bad due to having a long session and they didnt hesitate to wrap up my wounds and help me on my way. Will 100% be returning once I've healed, you really cant beat this place. The food was also incredible!

Fun and challenging routes and always refreshing the routes so each time I come there is something new whilst doing so in a fashion that lets you have a project. Staff are super friendly and helpful making checking in easy.

Been going here for a few months now been a fantastic experience the staff are absolutely amazing. And the bouldering walls change often so its always different. It is such a friendly environment with other climbers willing to help and give advice if you get stuck at certain points. The food is excellent and a fair price aswell and the membership is very reasonable

Great walls and a good variety, however lots of kids running around without much care for people climbing above them. Could do with having staff around a bit more instilling safe practices. I obviously do understand its difficult though!

Visited here for the 3 round of the winter comp, such lovely happy staff and good vibes! Great DJ, Great routes and a lovely community. If I'm back in Swansea again I will definitely be coming by, 100% worth a visit if you are in the area:)

I popped in here as I was in the locality and saw the sign for coffee and that dogs are welcome which makes a nice change. I'm not a climber but it was a great place to relax. The coffee was fantastic, the best I've had in a very long while and better than what the chains offer. It's a really nice, chilled vibe and the dog and I were made very welcome. In fact we returned as my dog was desperate to get back!

Lovely problems, super various, nice staff and chill vibes. One of the top walls I've visited in Wales as of yet. 10/10

Excellent, kind and friendly place! Every staff member routes for you and cheers you on, and can always turn a bad day into a great one. Plus women's rock social club is amazing, has taught me so much over the past year, and made some great new friends!

Good city centre climbing gym. The atmosphere still needs to develop a bit and imho the problems weren't the most interesting on average.

I love the Climbing Hangar! I go several times a week with my kids, and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. They're always willing to answer questions no matter how busy they are. Their forms are LGBTQIA+ inclusive, as is the general atmosphere. The food is lovely but can be a bit slow as they are primarily a climbing centre and they can be a tiny bit short staffed on occasion. For me, though, I am always happy to be there, and the team go out of their way to be lovely.

Very kind and such a good gym for all levels. So good to be in a gym that finally has loads of easy climbs and not just a handful. Great for progressing.

This climbing gym may not be the biggest but in my opinion it certainly offers the best value for money in the South Wales area. Cheap membership, cheap entry that includes shoes if you need to borrow some and they make some great food. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable too. Some of the bigger chains that have opened up recently could really learn a thing or two.

Superb place can't fault it. Daughter loves her weekly class here. Cafe is tremendous as well!

Newbie climber! Very much enjoyed my experience :) You have to complete a waiver before you can climb. Newbies receive an Induction before first climbs. I found everyone helpful and I progressed quickly to Green/Orange climbs; I'll be back

Went there for the first time and a really good fun activity. Physically demanding and really good exercise. The lack of a rope makes hanging on all the more precarious however the crash mats are more than capable of cushioning a fall. I shall definitely be coming back.

A great place with awesome staff and great coffee

Gets very busy at peak times but great fun at off peak times!! (Daytime) The cafe area also offers many vegan options and particularly delicious smoothies. Love it here and would highly recommend to others!

Took my son who is 7 here and he loves it the fact that there is no harnesses and the easy coloured courses to follow are a dream for him. It can get very busy there at times but that's to be expected but everyone seems courteous and offer advice if you can't make it past a certain part etc . All in all a good way to get the kids to burn energy but can be expensive if you are a family of 4

Cafe herebis excellent. Varied and very yummy meals and cakes. Veggie options great. And friendly staff. What more can you ask for 🥰🍪
