Food was delivered when expected and hot however the mossala was incredibly salty and inedible which ruined the meal, £18 not worth spending Very disappointed :( a lot of money for a meal that could not be eaten

The Clay Oven has one mega menu, so much choice it’s really unreal. There is something for everyone here. Whilst the delivery times are often in excess of one hour its always worth the wait and food always arrives hot

Ordered last night. Had to call takeaway twice to enquire when our food would be delivered. It eventually arrived 50 minutes after the scheduled time (2 hours from the time we ordered). The chips were cold & soggy, the popadoms were greasy & soft and everything else was luke warm. This was our first time ordering. We were told we would receive a call back from a manager, however, we are still waiting. We didn’t enjoy our meal & we’re really disappointed with our experience ordering from this take away.

Picking up a collection order and witnessed the way the chef speaks to the workers is disgusting and rude, need a new chef clearly ! He is rude

Once again they do not listen to your order!!…time and time again this has happened… given up on this place! It appears to be the man on the desk who is the problem, never listens and always turns his back on the order to communicate with the kitchen! Wrong order once again!! The food is great if you get the right order???

Wonderful food, very friendly staff. the place isn`t licenced, but bring your own alcohol, slight corkage charge on wine bottles. weve had quite a few birthday celebrations here now over the pass year.

We’ve just enjoyed our Christmas Day meal at the Clay oven. Everything was perfect, staff, service, atmosphere, value - all just perfect. Thank you all so much for making this a memorable Christmas to remember

Dined here for the first time on Friday. Warm welcome. Starter we had sheek kebab, piri lamb chops, mains we had chicken surya, jalfrezi, chicken tikka, chilli garlic chicken pilau rice, garlic naan & garlic & cheese naan. We really enjoyed our food and the staff were lovely. Planning to go again to celebrate our wedding anniversary with a group of friends.

Fantastic food and service.highly recommended staff very attentive and fast service.good range of food and even child's menu with nuggets and chips plus a few more options for children.

Come here often, staff are always friendly and resteraunt clean. You can bring your own booze or they have plenty of soft drink options. Reasonable prices. Curry always cooked to perfection with melt in your mouth meat and really big portion sizes

I just love this restaurant/takeaway the best in town. Food is all ways so presented and cooked to perfection and the taste is so wonderful to eat. Again been tonight and everything was perfect from friendly staff to excellent food could not ask for more. Happy family gone home with smiles on their faces after another wonderful experience at your restaurant xx

This used to be my go to Indian takeaway but not used for some time as they were slow to deliver, decided to try again on a collect basis, ordered at 5:00 and told to collect in 40 minutes. Turned up on time to find one guy behind the counter and no activity whatsoever, after 10 mins more bodies arrived and advised they were running late and it appeared my meal hadn’t been started. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable, left without any food and won’t be using this establishment again.

Takeaway ordered online arrived an hour earlier than requested but that was ok. Food ok - mains rather bland and watery -chicken really over cooked and chewy.

Tried the takeaway on the recommendation of a friend, poor quality Byrani, meagre amount of meat,minimal amount of vegetables or spices, usually accompanied with a vegetable curry, not much effort, sorry won't be back

Really disappointing takeaway. We thought we would try somewhere new given the good reviews but mixed tandoori masala was salty, chicken tikka masala and chicken makani tasted very similar and both excessively sweet and chicken dry in both dishes. Sent a message but no reply. Definitely wouldn't recommend, save your money and go elsewhere. The menu is massive which is probably the issue.

Possibly the best Indian food I have tasted. Take away delivery. Delivered on time. So we ordered Maharaja Bhuna Paneer Tikka, Dall Fry, Panch Mishali, Onion Bhaji,Special Rice, Coconut Rice and Garlic Naan. All perfectly cooked, the balance of spices in each dish...perfect. It was so tasty, even though it was medium to hot spice, this did not affect the flavours. Perfectly balanced. Well done !

Visited this takeaway/restaurant last night 17th September 22 and got the meal for two. All I can say is WOW the food was beautiful. Even my 5 year old loved it. We will definitely be calling back again.

worst curry i have had in over 35 years was not rogan josh was something else samosas were off nann bread was wet soggy rice was horrible gave the lot to the seagulls they flew away and we no they will eat anything so please save your money

A group of 8 people for an 18th Birthday. Excellent, speedy service in a very helpful and friendly manner. Very comprehensive menu with the items we had all of high quality and at a very reasonable price. Subtle background music and even some pre-selected music for the occasion. An excellent night.

We have many takeaways since finding this place during lockdown amd eaten with friends and family several times . The last time it was average but this time it was bad . I chose a hot dish , 3 chillies on the menu , called ‘awara’ … it was insipid , no heat whatsoever . The kulcha naan was wet dough with raw onions . The tikka masalas bright red runny …. We did mention the lack of any heat to a guy as he walked through and he just said that had been mentioned before to him previously…. That’s great . Anyway we paid in full and won’t return for a long time if ever .

Delivery boy was very rude and rushed to getaway practically throwing my food at me. I am very upset as it was for my 45th birthday, he made my wife cry.

Ordered online using their online ordering system at 5pm. Got a phone call at 6pm saying sorry we can't get your order to you for at least a couple of hours and would i like to cancel but he wasnt sure how long the refund would take. Wonderful service

First time use of clay oven. Has been recommended alot. Gutted I listened. Korma sauce tastes funny. Garlic was tiny with hardly any garlic and king prawns came in the korma sauce with shells still on which meant I had to pick them out unshell...

The food was over 1.5 hours late despite 2 calls to the restaurant. Good was luke warm and no I wouldn’t order again ! Told twice on the phone 5 mins away ! These people should invest on a telling the time course !!! Food...

Very friendly, good service, tasty food. Good to have a great sit in restaurant like this in Thornton. We went with Grandma and two kids and all of us really enjoyed it.

Decided to try this restaurant as had only just opened recently. Had the chicken shaslick and chicken pathia with plain chicken. Asked for garlic naan with extra garlic. Everything came as requested. Food very good and will definitely be returning again. Highly recommend

As many others have pointed out, the standards have fallen from excellent, to atrocious. We ordered and waited 2 hours, and the starters (£6 worth) were missing. I rang and was promised the driver would return the money.... Guess what... Still waiting. Save you're money...

I have to agree with a recent review of the Clay Oven. The standard of the take aways has fallen dramatically. Delivery times are terrible. In fact we have waitied for amost two hours and are still waiting!!! Extremely poor customer service.

Best Indian takeaway in Thornton-Cleveleys. The food from this place is awesome, great delivery staff, order from there website as its cheaper than just eat. My favourite is naga curry with mushroom rice, onion chutney and 4 poppadoms.

Had a few takeaways in lockdown, spent a lot of money. Ordered last night, absolutely average. Ordered popadoms, disgusting that they thought this was acceptable, phoned and complained, sent new ones, but at what point would you think this is acceptable.

A long overdue review of The Clay Oven. We moved here Jan ‘16 and left Mar ‘17. In that time we had delicious meal ordered here every Friday night. The staff were fantastic, remembering us and our preferences ( husband always wanted the Naga having grown them himself!) The delivery staff too were so friendly. The flavours of the meals were the absolute best. Sadly we have moved overseas now and pine for our Friday night treat. Highly recommended.

The Clay Oven is always fantastic but last night it was SENSATIONAL!!! It was the best meal we’ve had from here and we’ve been ordering Clay Oven for the past four years!! The quality of the food was amazing and it was piping hot as always...as a kind gesture we received complimentary poppadoms which was lovely and they went extremely well with our dishes! I enjoyed a vegetable bhuna whilst my husband had a lamb tikka passanda...there were empty plates all round! Thank you Clay Oven for keeping us sane with our Saturday night treat! Keep up the brilliant work and please stay safe!

I had used this Indian takeaway quite some time back and it was good. Spent over £20.00 for a takeaway. Lamb Rogan Josh, Bombay Potato, Tandoori Chicken sauce etc, Garlic Nan....And it was awfull. I should have taken it back, but I was not risking going out too much with this lockdown. The Rogan Josh was too salty and almost indelible, with dry Bombay potato. The Nan bread was not warm, it had obviously been prepared sometime before and reheated. It was hard and tasteless, and the curry sauce for the tandoori was like coloured water...Altogether a tasteless mess. To say we were angry about paying so much for tasteless rubbish is an understatement...No more business from us...Our advice, go elsewhere !!!

Throughout these turbulent times you’ve continued to provide us with your delicious food You never disappoint...our food is always piping hot and is delivered promptly...it’s so easy to order online and our food is always delivered safely. This weekend was our wedding anniversary and you kindly sent us a special tikka curry and poppadoms...and you wrote a lovely message on the boxes...it really made us smile!! Me and my husband decided to get a takeaway for his birthday. The guy who took my order said it be an hour for delivery so although that was long I went with it anyway. It actually took an hour and half to be delivered. I did ring the takeaway after an hour and 15 had passed I was told it’s just set off and will be with you in 5 mins but no it wasn’t it was another 15 minutes wait, we live 5 mins from the takeaway and although I think the food would of been nice it was a shame the food was cold so I felt disappointed.

So I advise you not to go to the restaurant to order, for the past two times they get the order wrong and miss out items, I assume to save money. it's a shame because the food is great

Went out for a meal only to find out favourite closed. However my brother had been here for a takeaway and said it was nice, so we stopped by to order one. Great staff, good price. Chicken Tikka/Pilau Rice and the sauce was very good, and a great portion. My wife's Lamb Dupiaza was also very good and an excellent portion. Very nice Indian takeaway and we shall certainly return.

We waited 2 hours and 10 minutes for our food to arrive! When it finally did the order was wrong and the food wasn’t up to the normal standard.I did call but they just seemed disinterested!My order was placed with just eat and they have been contacted too. I have screen shots from my payment time and video doorbell to back up the delivery time.

First time and it was excellent the meat samosas were really good shami kebab nice but a bit salty shared a chicken tikka tandoori masala with the wife and that was good too only quibbles apart from slightly salty shami was the naan a bit under done despite asking for well done and the chutney was runny and thin tasted ok but we will definitely be ordering again

My Son treat us to a takeaway from here ... and afterwards, wished he hadn't. Lamb dish (after separating it from the other slush and gee) was like chewing rubber. Never quite had anything like it from an Indian takeaway. Poor spice blend (bit bland) and generally a poor effort. As an Indian foodie, I won't be trying here again.

Ordered on a Saturday night being advised of a sixty to ninety minute wait. Placed order at 18:20 - arrived 20:10. Delivery guy apologised for the wait saying they were double busy. All food delivered hot and of good quality and quantity. I have noticed several reviews stating lengthy delivery delays ? so we're going to try and order earlier in future and hope that does the trick!

I’m shocked to see such negative reviews on here....we’ve been ordering from The Clay Oven for years and have only had one disappointing event when our delivery never came....however on contacting them the next day they apologised profusely and gave us a half price meal....a very welcome gesture....since then we have continued to order most weekends and the food is always fantastic....hot, top quality and delicious...we often have to wait at least an hour as they are busy....but we’d prefer to wait and have a great meal....keep up the good work!!!

Went to collect order. Not ready so waited whilst they hurriedly cooked it, 20 mins of standing around and off home. Got home and meal full of small bones making it inedible and binned. Waste of money and won’t be returning

Had to wait over 2 hours for delivery. Lamb was really chewy .rice looked burned.....even mango chutney was watered down, had to salvage a jar from the fridge..... never again!!

Under flavoured, unbelievable amount of food colouring...bright green and bright red. Skimpy on the chicken. Naan ok on the bottom, pale and soggy on the top. Best bit was the pilau. Worst takeaway in a long time. Only ordered as reviews ok on " just eat" will not order again, sorry ( and we are not that fussy )

Ordered 2 chicken korma and a chicken tikka korma the most disappointing meal we have ever had was just like eating coconut flavoured water our plates was swimming in water no cream whatsoever feel like I’ve just thrown £30 away 😢😢

We have used clayoven for years - the reason being the food is just so delicious and always delivered when stated (or earlier which is no problem!). For an Indian meal, they are the best !!!

Wish there was a 0 star rating....ordered at 8.15 and told a 90 minute wait....understandable as it’s a Saturday night....and we’ve been having deliveries from here for the past 5 years....called at 10.45 and told ‘it’s on its way’....called back at 10.59 and was told ‘I can confirm it’s on its way’....well it’s now midnight and we have no food....my fiancé has gone to get us Pizza....LIES LIES LIES....I’ll never order from you again....absolutely disgusting

Bought food at the Clay Oven several times and always been very happy, however the last time the food was very non descript and it was hard to tell what you had ordered by the taste and look.

Like to treat myself to an indian once in a while and this has become my new place of choice. Always busy with take aways or deliveries so they are doing something right. Well that will be the great food they serve up

Had the Jipouri which was ok without being excellent, however it was short of chicken compared to one I have had before, my wife had chicken tikka masala which she really enjoyed. The garlic naan was good and the pilau rice, pilau rice. It was hot when we picked it up.

After waiting for an hour and 10 mins after placing order online we called and had our meal 10 mins later it was delicious thankks

Can not knock the food- but when will you learn to get the delivery side of things sorted!!!! The exact same thing happened to me a few months ago, and I gave you the benefit of the doubt and tried you again and all seemed well; though it was too good to be true!

This is my favourite take away, or was.... The chicken tikka masala was not good and my chicken rogan josh was bad, will not be having another unless they sort it...

Ordered from here as we have done many times before, the last time we ordered we were not very impressed but as we have used many times decided to give it another try - what a mistake!! £20's worth of food straight in the bin egg fried rice tasted of salt and so did the curry it was all so salty it was inedible! Won't be using this place ever again :(

Decided to have a take away delivery while on holiday at haven site ordered 5 meals with accompaniments. Came I. An hour No was really good good portions really tasty. Good price to. Would definitely recommend it to anyone. Garlic chilli chicken tikka amazing. Will be back

2 and a half hour wait. Told the order hadn't been received, before I told them I'd screen shot the call I'd made, then they found the order and told me it would be ten minutes because I said we had hungry children. After a further 30Minutes, still waiting and now not answering calls. Avoid if you want food on the day you order it. I don't understand why they are not honest and simply admit how busy they are so we could order from somewhere else!!!!

After sending our naan breads wrong the first time. The keema naan that they sent the second time was still awful. The lamb tikka "mossala" was just like eating a coconut. I thought i was getting a lamb tikka "masala" but obviously not. Terrible, will not be back! £33 wasted. Cheers.

First time I've got a takeaway from here and after tonights experience it won't be the last. Absolutely no way I'm going anywhere else for an Indian takeaway again. Our order was available for collection quickly (20 mins) and the food was simply beautiful. The sauces were really crisp and fresh, not greasy like some other establishments I've tried, and the chicken was really tasty. I also don't feel like I need to drink 4 gallons of water after eating the food like I did at our usual Indian takeaway. Finally the staff in the shop were really friendly when I picked up the food. I've already told my friends to check this place out.

First time I have ordered from the clay oven really good, large portions n very tasty. Took longer to deliver than they said. I was just about to ring them. Delivery driver really friendly. Will deffo use again.

We have visited this takeaway on several occasions as we have family living in the area. We usually collect our order. Every time we have received excellent service. The staff are always very pleasant and are very helpful.The food is superbly delicious and always served hot, in fact it is still hot when we arrive at the house. We like to try something different each time we visit and have not been disappointed with the quality.

The food from here is brilliant, and it is very tasty. I'm a fan of one of their own dishes called the 'Rashoon'. I usually have this with Lamb Tikka, where the meat is good, although I've had chicken in the past and it has been a little dry. Overall, good food, would recommend collection as the food will be piping hot (all cooked fresh)! Would recommend!

Ordered a takeaway and was told it would be an hour, over 2 hours later and about half hour on phone trying get through it finally arrived. If there's a problem just let people know! Was passed the hunger stage at this point!

Ordered at 6:20, received at 8:05 after being fobbed off twice that it was 'on its way'. Phoned to cancel the order, when I eventually got through, they said they would knock a 5er off the bill (how generous) excuse was they're busy; it's a Saturday night you're expected to be busy, but 1 hour 45 when I was told 50 mins is just not acceptable. Seriously need to sort it out- I won't recommending here anytime soon- my guests I was entertaining certainly won't be going here again either. Shambolic!

I'm a regular visitor at the clay oven. Excellent choice of food all good value. Food always tastes amazing delivery drivers friendly and pleasant. Only downside is its around 1 hour for your food to arrive but in my opinion it's definitely worth the wait

We ordered a takeaway last night from the clay oven. They told us 55 mins I can in 90 mins and it wasn't very hot, not a good start. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with pilau rice my partner order the butter chicken and coconut rice and a keema nan. First we couldn't tell which rice was which as they didn't taste any different from each other except mine tasted like dirt. My partners meal tasted bitter and nothing like it was supposed to and he didn't eat his. My tikka was ok but nothing to write home home about. The nan didn't taste cooked the only thing we could eat was the poppadoms. So £25 for 2 meals and we ended up putting it in the bin and had a frozen pizza. Highly disappointed they didn't seem to know what was going on when I rang to see where my order was either !!!! WILL NEVER BE EATING THEIR AGAIN.

Beautiful food, had a few takeaways from here and its been brilliant, the wonderful staff deliver over wyre which is great because we have no indian takeaway who delivers over wyre now. I rang them tonight to say I was on my own so my order was small and only £11.00, they were wonderful and still offered to deliver to me... Highly recommended..

Having a quiet night in on Saturday i decided i fancied an Indian, the one i usually go to was closed so i had a look and came across the Clay Oven. This Indian was lovely, i tried a dish i had never had before called a rezala and it was excellent. I had the chicken pakora to start and got 5 large pieces, the main rice and naan were easily enough for 2 people. The taste and flavours were excellent and delivery was made within an hour, which on a Saturday night i thought was very good.I will be ordering from here again and will recommend this Indian to people.

We have had several excellent take-away's from here recommending it to several friends who have equally enjoyed the first class cuisine. However, I am worried that the Clay Oven is perhaps becoming a victim of it's own success?Having family up for the weekend (not BH) we placed a largish order on line at 6.30pm being advised of a dispatch time of 7.15. However, by 7.50 no sign of our order so a call to the Clay advised that it was just being served up and would be with us shortly? The order finally arrived at 8.20 the delivery driver being apologetic for the delay citing how busy the Clay was with orders "flying out of the kitchen" Everything ordered was delivered however, one dish - a curry was far too salty to eat.We put the dish to one side and waited until the following evening to raise our disappointment with the Clay as to have raised it when we found the problem would have taken a while to sort out given the length of wait we had already endured?The manager at the Clay was apologetic and provided a replacement dish no problem.We are just hoping that the time delay and spoilt dish is not down to how popular the Clay had become, taking on too many orders for the kitchen to deal with? Anyway, we will be back no doubt soon but will be ringing our order through in the future so that I can ask how busy they are and get a more accurate delivery time! Still recommended ouch! I've said it again, oh well........

Although it took 90 mins to arrive it was was worth the wait my prawn noodles was delicious my daughters chicken zalfrazi was outstanding we will be definitely ordering from the clay oven again.

Good curry that isn't swimming in oil,good sized chunks of meat.I would go as far as saying the best curry house in the area.

We have had several take away's from the Clay Oven but my wife and I had settled on the same choice each time so, I have waited until a suitable weekend when my younger son and his family visited from the midlands with a promise of being treated to a meal from the Clay Oven. We ordered poppadom's, a selection of mixed starters including the "hot mushroom's" (recommended), main"s included our usual choice of gumbo chicken tikka plus makhani duck and boho a mixed vegetable. Sides were veg pilau rice,chips and Bombay aloo. I ordered online, the delivery time always says 45 minutes but we have never had to wait more than 30 minutes before a very cheery delivery guy rolls up with your food well packaged and piping hot! All the dishes delivered were delicious including the chips! Portion wise you can easily get two meals from the quantity provided. I have recommended this establishment to friends and family and no one has been disappointed. Highly recommended-go try!

The best Indian by far I have ever tasted. Tried the Tandoori mixed grill last night & it was delicicious & expertly cooked. Staff are so polite & helpful in advising. Thoroughly recommended

Myself & family had a take away this evening. Fresh ingredients, great Nann breads & massive portions the only thing stopping me giving this place a 5 is that the chicken korma is never as sweet as I'd prefer, but that's just me!

We have got takeaways from here before and on new years day we decided to help our hangover with an Indian and I'm glad we did. Every time we phone the staff are friendly. We usually get it delivered and it's not a long waiting time. Food is hot and delicious and lots of it. Would definitely recommend
