Wonderful place to view the sunset, had a lovely Friday evening.

Can honestly say this was the best pub meal I've had in a long time, with service to match. Landlady (Louise) was so welcoming, with a great sense of humour. This extended to the rest of the staff too. If you're after an outstanding roast, this is the place to go! The crackling on the roast pork was perfect - something most pubs seem to get wrong. The cauliflower cheese - amazing. Homemade cheesecake was also out of this world. Can't rate this place highly enough. Will certainly be back. I know most people take pictures before their meal but my pictures show how good it was!

Really nice local pub, we stopped by on a Sunday because we were in the area. They only served Sunday roast, but it was really tasty. The staff were nice and polite, it has a local "everyone knows each other" vibe. There were plenty of seating spaces, very solid 4 stars, I do recommend :)

A great choice if you are looking for a homemade meal using good quality fresh produce in a homely environment. You can’t beat proper roasties and Yorkshire pudding. Delicious!

Had a 3 meat platter roast on Sunday, was great food, highly recommend, great atmosphere and staff really friendly. Outside area is really nice on a sunny evening

Nice and clean,but lack of atmosphere.

Been looking for a lovely country pub near our new home and today we discovered it. We found the Chequers to be warm, extremely welcoming, and spotlessly clean (including the loos, which I always review), with a delightful host and staff. Even the other patrons were friendly. We were warned when we phoned that they only do "pub grub" on Sundays, rather than a roast. Didn't matter. The food was superb and quickly served. Definitely worth a visit and, as it is less than two miles from home, we'll certainly be back. Update. Been back several times and it's still as good as ever. Louise is one of the hardest-working Licencees I have ever met and it shows. Fantastic place.

Called in late afternoon on a Sunday. They served us food even though they were about to stop serving. And it was very very good. On top of that an excellent pint of greyhound…. Wish I could have stay longer. How a pub should be. 👍

A proper village pub. A good selection of proper beer, friendly staff. Obviously very popular with the locals. Pizza on Fridays!! Spotless toilets!

Loved the experience of this pub. Visited twice whilst stopping in the area. Spotlessly clean both inside and out. Enjoyed a good meal one night of old fashioned English Fare and then at lunchtime had sandwiches and cider sat in the beer garden. Great sociable lady host. Will return.

Went there after my mum's funeral. Food servings were very small. I had braised steak and it was about the size of a meatball. Very disappointing! The tikka looked much better my son had, my daughter meal we had to go ask for the rest of it.. side was missing.

Louise has the best Elgoods Bar and Restaurant for Miles. Her hosting skills are epic and she is a very fun Lady. The gin selection could sink a ship and the Peanut Rum is divine. I always have the lamb which is succulent and falls off the bone. Nice conservatory and garden for dinning and drinking in. Love U Louise xx

Lovely little pub. Not doing food tonight, but two well kept tasty beers from the local brewery, Elgood’s in Wisbech. Excellent observance of hygiene in today’s weird times. Very friendly staff at the bar.

What a great country pub! No fruit machine, no jukebox and poor phone signal. Strangely people talking to each other! Be careful it might catch on.

What a lovely pub. Found when just driving round. Great food, reasonably priced. Service was brilliant. Staff and customers very friendly, just loved it. It will definitely be a regular stop

Ate here twice during a week stay in the area. Food is excellent. Had lamb shanks with either red wine sauce or mint gravy. Served with creamy mash potatoes and seasonal vegetables cooked Al dente. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff made a fuss of the dog. Second visit tried crayfish tails in a brandy sauce and chicken pie straight from the butcher. The food here wouldn't be out of place in a high class restaurant. Elgoods beer to boot and good wine.

Stopped of for a refreshing drink while visiting the area. Nice cosey pub landlady very friendly made us feel welcome. Looks like the garden is undergoing renovation so that will only add more appeal to the Chequers. Nice to see pubs like this surviving. Good Luck 👍 Geoff & Julie in the camper 👍

What a great little pub in the middle of the universe. Great beer selection (elgoods) , although I am drinking Carlsberg as gotta scoot off & drive which is a bummer..... I will pop back definitely if in the area again......

Menu could do with some work. Came last minute for a Sunday lunch and found there wasn't much that appealed, mostly we were hoping for a roast. Beer was good that said, staff seemed really nice, nice atmosphere. Just a bit of a let down with the food.

Very friendly staff and very nice food I had spare ribs and i was given a bowl for the bones and some wet hand tissues (ive forgotten what the proper name is 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣) and after i had finished i was asked if i would like some bread to soak up the left over sauce. Beat that for friendliness 🤣 🤣 😂 😂 🤣 🤣 Food was amazing too 😊

Excellent food pleasant landlords

We dropped in for a drink after a walk from a nearby caravan site, with our little dog, we were made very welcome by the Landlady. We stayed for sometime chatting to her and another local who also joined us at the bar. She also very kindly lent us a lead to take our dog home after he was very naughty and chewed through his own lead while we were busy drinking and talking. A lovely country pub, with a homely atmostphere, been lovingly redecorated. (The ladies is just like a comfortable hotel bathroom!) Thankyou for a pleasant afternoon drink. The only reason we didnt give five stars is that we didnt eat during our stay.
