Great welcome, terrific food & excellent staff. Having The Caley as a base for our golf in Carnoustie made the trip even more special.

We booked for 8 ladies. Our table was reserved and we were seated and given menus. I asked about dairy free options and was given a choice of two ( one fish dish and one chicken) I opted for the peri peri chicken with stir fried veg and chips. They advised that the fryer used was just cleaned and had not had any dairy products in it, bonus for me. Other guests chose fish and chips, anti pasti, chicken curry and rice and there were two soups available and a selection of sandwiches. The portion sizes and quality was good and the price very reasonable ( mine was £7.50) only one waitress serving so meals were delivered in twos but that was the only drawback. All in all a very pleasant lunch at a really reasonable price and we had the table for two and a half hours! Would definitely go back .......oh and it’s not just for members.

Good hospitality. Great setting. Good food and drink. Pleasurable experience at a very reasonable price. Not open to everyone, it is a member's club.

Great value food and a great team. We were made so welcome. A group of q9 wanting to watch Champions League games. I asked about food and beer and well.....what a fantastic response. Chef stayed the evening as the captain did the bar and we had such a good time we booked for the following night to do exactly the same again. I was asked to go across and check the menus for the evening. The chef chatted me through what he thought and we ended up with a choice of 6 starters and 7 mains and home made sticky toffee pudding or cheese board. All home cooked and great value. The team are a a credit to Carnoustie with the ladies and young girls who served us so happy and nice. We will definitely return when we come back for golf. Please please give it a try!!!

Visited 2 days consecutively for lunch. First day the staff were very welcoming and service etc was very good and food reasonable. Second day was not so good. 4 ordered lunch and only one got what was asked for! Two soup and sandwich. One got soup and sandwich, one just got a sandwich with chips? There was a prawn special on the board. 10 minutes after ordering a member of staff appeared to tell us they had run out of prawns, would smoked salmon do! These three dishes were delivered but no sign of the 4 th which should have been a chicken salad. At this stage the waitress advised us that the chef was out of ..........Salad!! By the way the place was in no way busy. We are regular visitors to Carnoustie to play golf. Based on first day I would have recommended it but on second visit I would have reservations.

Standard fare, delicious specials at the weekend. Recently we have had stovies, fish pie, mixed meats or cheeses platters, and all washed down with a great selection of beer, wine and gins! Pilgrims gin is lovely! Staff attentive but can be slammed at the weekend, so bear with them at busy times

The Restaurant was reserved for a Post Funeral Gathering of family & friends, where there was a selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes and other bakery items, served with tea or coffee and an open bar. The selection of sandwiches and pastries was impressive and was more than sufficient to satisfy the assembled guests. We basically had the club-house to ourselves so there was plenty room for mingling, socializing and reminiscing. The bartenders were very friendly, sympathetic to the occasion. It was a wonderfull organized and relaxed event

Currently sitting in the beer garden in glorious sunshine. Lovely friendly staff. Ate here last night. Freshly cooked home made food, great bar food at reasonable prices. We both had burgers, delicious and filling. 👍 Definitely worth a visit.

Menu at Carnoustie Hotel restaurant where we were staying, didn't appeal. Think calf liver parfait, haggis spring rolls, pigeon! Husband got a tip from his caddie, so wandered over to the Caledonia Golf Club. Great conversations with some locals, the bartender and the chef. Lots of quizzing about Australia. The food was all freshly made with local ingredients. The steak pie was out of this world. Pastry was so light. Even ate some peas, which I usually hate. The chips were the best yet. Tough decision for dessert. Tossed up between the warm chocolate fudge cake and the sticky toffee pudding. Went with Agnes', chef, recommendation. The pudding was out of this world. 1,000 calories later. Haha. Had a fabulous night. Great value. Totally recommend.

Stopped in on a cold Sunday afternoon for a drink and a snack. Opted for the mince roll and it was surprisingly delicious! Would definitely recommend - a nice tasty change from bacon rolls or sausage rolls.

A family get together, 21 of us, without preordering our food must have been a challenge but one that was achieved pretty well in my view. The team were lovely, friendly and efficient. Food, mains and starters arrived quickly and was piping hot, certainly hadn’t been sitting around in the kitchen before being bought to the table. Only two things I’d mention, the batter on the fish and chips was a bit greasy/ not crispy however the fish was beautiful and secondly two of our group are Coeliac so a few more Gluten free options would have been great. The Thali though deserves a special mention, it had been recommended and it lived up to expectations. This is definitely worth a visit, really varied menu, good service with a good ambiance, if we didn’t live over 400 miles away we would certainly be back.

Absolutely lovely cafe, we stayed at the linked hotel which was also very nice and clean with very friendly and helpful staff who kindly organised our early breakfast before we set off for an early morning Rally, the service in the cafe was exceptional, nothing was too much bother for the lady who went out her way and opened up early for us which was greatly appreciated. The breakfast rolls and coffee were just what we needed, she was very welcoming and we couldn’t have asked for better service. Highly recommend popping in and you can also see their beautiful black cat Rogue who’s super friendly and loves a pet.
