The Cafe at Canada Wood in Falkirk

Lovely establishment and dog friendly, the food and service let it down. The weirdest bruschetta I have ever had, very little tomato or garlic, no basil at all with peppers and rocket, very disappointing and the bread...wow nice crusty sourdough would've been better than the white loaf and for my taste was too charred. Steak pie for mains, not a pie but stew in on a plate with a pastry lid placed on top, very salty could really only taste the beef bouillon, veg overcooked best part of meal was the mash, these were actually exceptional, beautifully seasoned, I wish every part of the dish was given the same dedication as the mash. Opted not to have pudding as the wait to take order then for food to arrive was too long. Will I give it another try, probably not, overpriced for what you receive and service too slow.

After our visit for lunch today we left feeling disappointed. My husband and I have visited many times before and highly recommended it to my mum which is why we came to celebrate her birthday. The food couldn't be faulted and was tasty as always but the service was really poor. It took too long for our order to be taken on both main and pudding courses. Our server actually forgot about giving us the menus so had to give him the eye and then he suddenly remembered! Empty glasses were left on our table even after our server had been at our table twice, we had to ask for them to be taken away! We ordered coffee which was cold, we asked for hot water for my mums latte which was an easy remedy but both my husband and I had expresso which were luke warm too. I mentioned this to the server and did apologise but how hard is it to deliver hot coffee which comes out the machine? The food at Canada Wood is a bit more expensive than the norm and we don't mind paying for a lovely experience which we normally receive. The servers were not up to the required standard today. We observed lots of other diners who received the same experience with waiting far too long. I think we might hesitate to visit next time.

The service was horrendously slow - it took two hours to get lunch and two cups of tea. The waitresses wouldn’t come to the table, managing to dodge and ignore any request for service and I had to go to the bar to order. They seemed unapologetic and unaware. The food was okay but the lack of service really ruined the experience, and certainly not worth two hours of my time. If it is an “order at the bar” experience, this should be clearly advertised, instead of offering unapologetically bad service.

Fantastic dog friendly cafe with really friendly staff. I had the Egg Hebridean and the dug had a some grilled chicken from the dog menu. Food was fantastic. Staff friendly. Would highly recommend.

We decided to go for a late breakfast and when we arrived it looked really busy but we we seated at an outside table( which we requested) very quickly. We both ordered hot drinks , orange juice and the full breakfast. Everything was absolutely fantastic and the sunshine added to the alfresco dining. The team working outside were extremely pleasant and well organised . We will definitely be back and will recommend to other friends

Hadn’t booked so seat we were given in middle floor didn’t like to start. We ordered a roll each I forgot to say no butter but were quick to change. Sadly to say the rolls were either not fresh or a poor supplier. The roll basically crumbled apart as we were trying to eat. We were asked if all was ok and told no our rolls were crumbing apart. Assistant just came back and told us she informed the chef🤷‍♀️. Don’t think chef bakes rolls. Anyway spoilt my experience of what I was told was a great place. Also wasn’t that hot today but restaurant was uncomfortably warm.

We visit Canada Wood a lot for our morning coffee and scones. Staff here are always welcoming, the atmosphere is great and nothing is ever too much trouble. Scones are very tasty and of a consistently high quality, they get the basics right every time! Lunch is also good value

A little pricey but definitely worth it. Food is of high quality and you are always served with a smile. A nice and quiet setting and dog friendly which is a definite bonus, especially for us who like to pop in for a coffee mid dog walk!

Food is ok but overpriced for what it is. Mushrooms served were tinned and they argued they weren't but they were not fresh mushrooms, they had been preserved in some way, affecting their texture. The price charged did not reflect the below par product that was served! One of the staff was quite miserable and unfriendly; the older blonde haired lady, seemingly unless you were known to her or a regular.

First Sunday night visit and it was perfect, we’d heard the Sunday roast menu was lovely. It was absolutely beautiful!! Service and value for money was, as always excellent. We will be back!! Sorry we forgot to take photos! 🙈Many thanks.

Another lovely visit to Cafe at Canada Wood. Lovely breakfast of eggs benedict with salmon. We were there quite early and managed to get a window table which was a treat. Staff friendly as always and great service.

Lovely chilled breakfast at Canada Wood. First time here, but 100% return. Both dishes were excellent, with super fresh ingredients. Nothing felt cheap here at all, with every element on the plate being very high quality. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection, and the back bacon was full of flavour. Also loved that sourdough toast, and even the hot chocolate tasted luxury 😋 Staff were on the ball, making sure everything was sent in a timely manner and still nice and hot. To top it all off Canada Wood is lovely inside, with a lovely outlook to enjoy while having your meal.

After many, many exceptional breakfast experiences we tried Burger Night at the Café at Canada Wood and it did not disappoint. The food was fresh and delicious. The Sriracha Chicken burger had just the right amount of a kick, whilst the Classic Burger was a simple delight of quality ingredients. Service was, as always, super friendly and efficient. A whisker under £100 saw us get three three-course meals including beers and soft drinks, the value is spot on for the quality.

Tuesday lunch time in August. I went online and booked a table inside for me and my dog. After our nice walk through the woods I was ready to eat an hour earlier than planned but the staff assured me that it wasn’t a problem even though it seemed busy. I was given a table and the lovely staff made an indulgent fuss of my dog. A chose to wash away the dust of the walk with a bottle of Peroni and chose the meatballs as a starter and a nice potato and chorizo combination for a main course , both dishes tasty and the size of the portions were just right . Yes it was a bit of a holiday treat but the staff and the food were very pleasant and I give them top marks for efficiency and customer service. Highly recommended but I would make sure to book in advance as it’s not too big inside and the British summer limits the joys of eating outside.

Friendly and efficient staff. Had a lovely breakfast - Eggs Royale - with a side of avocado smash. Yum. Latte also very nice. Booked in advance so I knew I had a table, as it can be busy, and I was planning to cycle along. Not too far off the Union canal near Falkirk Wheel. Lovely location.

decided to have a walk up to Canada wood for coffee and cake. when we arrived were told to take a seat we chose outside as it was a nice morning. waited for over 20 minutes no one came out to provide menus. there was a member of staff out several times brining out orders to other tables. not once did they acknowledge our presence so we left. it is a shame as it used to be really good, don't think we will be back

Been here many times before and service and food has always been good. However, the last few times we have been for lunch, though chose the same menu item, it lacked the usual flavor. Went today for coffee and cake after a nice walk. Coffee arrived and cake didn’t until we we’re leaving. We had ordered a scone, and an empire biscuit, scone had been cooked and looked like a muffin and was given with no butter or jam, was asked if wanted anything with it 🙄. Empire biscuit didn’t arrive. £14 for two coffees and cake( which we ended up taking home) Food was always tasty, particularly goats cheese salad, based on last three visits unsure if will be returning, which is actually sad as it was always enjoyable. Definitely do not mind paying if we getting good tasty food and service.

We visit Canada Wood Cafe regularly the service is always top notch. It’s our go to Birthday Breakfast. Visited this morning and was served by Rebecca who is always so pleasant and polite. Our breakfasts were so good. Well done Canada Wood consistently providing great service and food.

Staff were very pleasant and it was very busy. I had the ‘’Big Breakfast’’ which wasn’t big, one of each item all had clearly been sitting on a hot plate for ages. The best thing was the thimble of beans and inch of toast. It’s a shame as I’ve had lunch here before and has been good but certainly won’t be back for breakfast!!

It had been ages since we had a wander round Canada Woods area and we booked a table for a light lunch as part of our outing. What a treat that was! Such a positive experience - staff were welcoming, friendly, efficient and attentive. It was so refreshing to choose from something different on the menu, away from the ordinary choices we find elsewhere - I had the avocado pate with toast and beaufiful garnish, my other half had chicken tempura + dip and garnish - both delicious. Clearly the chef/cook has an eye for detail. We finished off with coffee and a traybake - a bit on an indulgence but we deserved it - and it didn't disappoint. I'm very much looking forward to our next visit !
