As a visiting publican I can honestly say that Iain and Jo really care for their pub. Good selection of drinks and lovely atmosphere. Although a pub for locals it's really well worth a visit.

Went for the first time and used eat out to help out. There was a warm welcome - very friendly. The menu was mainly “pub grub”. We ordered and the service was very quick. The food looked ok but the taste was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our mains. Our chosen dessert was jam rolypoly. Again it was delicious. Well done and thanks to all.

We enjoy calling in local Lancashire pubs to have a drink and today was the turn of blackbull ribchester, its an old pub dating back to the 1700,s, parking across the road in car park, very friendly pub and does a small menu of food. We just had a drink and some crisps.

We had a really friendly welcome from the owners and locals, the pub was comfortbly and traditionally furnished nd the beer excellent. The menu was not extensive but still offered good choice. We both had the steak and kidney pud with mash and veg which was excellent and (beware) enormous. My regret was that I was too full for the puddings which presumably would have been equally good. This was our first visit to the area and also brief so we were unable to return. It was a bit quiet when we arrived but really lively when we left. I can thoroughly recommend the black bull and we hope to return soon. Almost forgot. Excellent value for money

The staff here must be the most friendly I've ever come across in a pub. Me, my wife, 2 kids & our dog entered the pub and went through to the garden. We sat down and a lady brought water for the dog and tidied up and toys that were around our table. They had games out for the kids and a member of staff was playing with some of the kids doing the limbo. We had some soft drinks and ordered some food off the BBQ which was a nice touch on a sunny day. The food was brilliant and it was surprisingly cheap! The staff couldn't do enough for us in this pub and it was very child and dog friendly. It was our first time ribchester since childhood and I think we will definitely be back

My wife and I visited Ribchester in our motorhome and the first eating establishment we bumped into was The Black Bull. Popped in to have a drink and browse the menu and was given a warm welcome by all the staff and regulars. My wife chose gammon and I opted for the roast pork in cider gravy. Both were served nice and fresh and hot. The chips were the best we've had in a long time. We highly recommend The Black Bull for food or just for an evening drinking. We'll definitely be back.

We visited for the second time for a mother’s day celebration. It was as fabulous as our previous visit! The ladies who serve bar and restaurant are so friendly and helpful. The food is delightful and hearty. Perfect ‘pub food’ a quality that is getting harder to find. I can wholeheartedly recommend the lamb shank and rib of beef. I cannot wait for the next time we can visit!

We found this to be a really friendly local pub, offering good food, good beer and good company. We were only sorry that on our second visit we had already eaten, so were to full to sample the home made cheese and onion pie, fresh form the oven.

After a walk in the local countryside we visited the Black Bull Pub and were greeted by the manager. I enjoyed a couple of pints of Spitting Feathers, but the hot beef and onion sandwich was rather boring, pre-sliced beef which looked out of a packet and a few onions on sliced bread didn’t look anything special even with a side of homemade chips. For the same price I have had better beef sandwiches elsewhere. A bit more imagination required for their sandwiches Having eaten here on three other occasions, I feel their standards had slipped on this visit.

We are a Living History Group of 16 people visiting Ribchester for the annual Roman Festival. It was a Saturday evening on the hottest day of the year, and England was playing in the World Cup, so we sensibly ordered our food in advance. The staff worked efficiently and we were seated and served quickly. Food excellent. We will definitely visit again.

We visited for a quick drink and bite to eat , the pub seemed much more appealing , fresh , clean and welcoming, food could do with some improvement ... the soup we had was tasteless , thick and gloopy and tasted of veg bullion paste and not much else , the fish pie we received was not as expected, over cooked fish and a blob of mashed potato sat on top with some cheese melted on top of it , pretty poor ... !service on the other hand from the front of house staff were lovely , attentive met all our needs . Will return again soon !!

Heard that the Black Bull Pub was serving Fish and Chips on a Friday Night, so decided to give it a try instead of our normal Longridge Chip Shop. The girl who spoke to us on the phone and who greeted us was very polite and welcoming... ( Excellent in fact)... I had to ring up about 20 mins plus before collecting the order that I’d be about 10-15 mins late. Again the girl was very understanding and was completely friendly. However when we did arrive we were met with a very frosty reception from the other Bar Lady, stating a few times that that we were late in an abrupt manner and questioning my earlier phone call...consequently making my young boys feeling very awkward. I don’t really think this is the kind of service you’d expect for any customer never mind a first customer. Food itself was good.. no complaints there... just the bar lady’s attitude to customers.

Went in the black bull one day last week after reading the good review's, we found a seat and sat looking at the menu, it felt very cold inside, I went to the toilet and there was sick in the sink from the night before, I soon changed my mind we drank up and got out.

The Land Lady was really friendly and we felt really relaxed. We will definitely go back on our next visit to Ribchester. Not posh but really good!!

We live locally but heard that Greendale had changed ownership and wanted to try it out. We’ve since been several times for brunch and lunch and keep going back for more .. If plain menus and ordinary fare is your preference maybe it won’t suit, but if you favour culinary flair and a point of difference to the norm Greendale is definitely worth a visit. They support local producers offering a small but interesting menu. There’s always a specials variation & everything is homemade. They have an alcohol licence and even pair some of their meals with various beverages as an option. The coffee is gorgeous, & served with a little homemade shortbread… what’s not to like A little Gem right on our doorstep, with great service and ambience into the bargain! 🤗

Had a full English and neither of us could eat it. It was cooked in some foul tasting oil. When we pointed this out the Guy was very defensive and completely ignored us when we said goodbye on leaving even though we paid in full.
