Warm, friendly service and amazing homemade cake served in beautiful woodland setting. We sat outside with our dog but owner invited us in but chose to sit outside at the picnic tables overlooking the pretty pond and our coffee and cake was brought out to us.

Did the rock of solitude walk from Edzell and came across this coffee shop in what seemed liked middle of nowhere after walking through the woods . Staff were very friendly

Our walking group love to be in the area so that we can end the walk at The Birches because we know we are in for a warm welcome, a bit of banter and most of all home cooked/baked food. Can't wait to return.

I had just been for what must be one of the best walks in Angus, through the famous blue door and up the banks of the river South Esk. I noticed an ad on the back of the door as I returned to the car for the Birches. Don't be put off by the fact that it is part of a small caravan park. It is sited by an attractive tranquil lochan and a very friendly welcome awaits. The menu is typical of a cafe but all freshly made. This was my first visit but it won't be my last!

Great place to stop at with a trendy tasty menu, great attention to detail! Had little halloween decor on tables which was cute. Also outdoor seating with fireplace. Really liked the fact they had baby changing facilities and toiletries to use as well! Will defo be back.
