Great NY pizza very similar to the Roman's one

Pretty good pizza place in Chorlton. Came here on a weekend and service was great, drinks fair price and food very reasonable too. Lots of space although did get busy. Pizza was ok i think they do well. Better pizza around but still worth coming here as all round very good place.

Excellent child friendly bar with a good range of craft ales

Been here on many occasions the pizza is amazing and not the normal Neapolitan style everywhere is doing. Interesting toppings,what's not to like ! Lovely staff and a great vibe. Definitely recommend

As a local resident and business owner myself, I understand the importance of honest feedback, which is why I wanted to take the time to share my recent experiences with you. I recently visited your restaurant at The Beagle in Chorlton on two separate occasions within a few weeks, and unfortunately, I left both times feeling extremely disappointed. While we returned for the second visit due to a gift voucher we were kindly gifted, the level of service and overall experience confirmed that we would not choose to visit again. I’d like to outline the issues we encountered, as I hope it may help your team improve the experience for future customers: 1. Incorrect Charges: We requested two dips at £2 each but were served three and charged £5, which was confusing and frustrating. 2. Cleanliness Concerns: When we were seated (at 1pm on a Friday), the sofa seat was absolutely covered in crumbs, and the windows were visibly filthy, which did not set a good first impression. 3. Drink Orders: Our drink order had to be redone as we were served two Diet Cokes when we had ordered one Diet and one regular. Additionally, we noticed another table being served the wrong drinks as well. 4. Miscommunication About Offers: We were told the 50% off deal was available, only to find at payment that it didn’t apply on Fridays. Clear communication on offers is essential to avoid disappointment. 5. Presentation of Food: Being served on flimsy paper plates felt underwhelming, especially given their environmental impact and how carelessly they were placed on the table. This detracted from the overall dining experience. 6. Repeated Cooking Issues: On both occasions, something went wrong with the pizza preparation, resulting in it needing to be recooked. 7. Dessert Service: When we ordered two desserts, no cutlery was provided, and they were simply placed on paper plates in front of us. As we intended to share and try each other’s, this made the experience inconvenient and disappointing. I genuinely hope this feedback is taken as constructive, as I can see potential in your offering and believe small changes could make a significant difference to the overall customer experience. Pizza is the best I have ever tasted! With great deals!! Service was great, wait time around 30mins which is a bonus! Atmosphere is great, different age groups perfect place for a family date! LOVE IT

Came here on a Tuesday not expecting an atmosphere but even though there weren't many customers it felt cosy in the conservatory and the decor is ace. Pizza was REALLY good. My mates got salad, dough balls and dips and said that was good too. The homemade soda was amazing, thinking of buying it myself for at home if you can. Had nolo beer which was very nice too. We took our boy and they have highchairs and baby change. Our mate invited us as he orders delivery on the regular and I can see why! Loved it.

Food took a while to come but overall the quality was amazing and good for the price.

Sospecho que el plan con las pizzas aquí es terminarlas con parmesano, al menos espero que sea de lo contrario necesitamos una discusión sobre cuáles eran los glóbulos secos en la parte superior de mi pizza. La base era tan sabrosa como el cartón en rodajas con una textura similar. Me habría avergonzado servir esta mierda, pero no aquí. Lo dice todo de verdad. Un merecido cero estrellas... Sé que puedes hacerlo mejor Beagle...

Excellent pizza and a good range of beers. Nice to see a slightly fruity sour from Thornbridge

Give it a miss. Whilst the pizza is okay (if a little spendy), the beer isn’t great, but most disappointingly they overbook the place so you are permitted a maximum of 90 minutes at your table before being ushered out. Expect to receive several reminders throughout your meal and therefore end up having the least relaxing meal possible clock watching. Clearly this is driven entirely by greed to increase revenue rather than provide an enjoyable experience. You can also expect to be surrounded by dogs on every side, jumping next to your food and emitting unpleasant odours whilst you’re trying to eat.

Very lovely pizzas reasonably priced. It is a sort of cafe, where you order at the table.

Used to be an amazing bar. Now it is a money hungry wanna be Francisco burger.

Siempre he querido probar Nell’s Pizza pero con una alergia a las nueces en el aire me preocupaba un poco que vendieran guarniciones de nueces. Decidimos arriesgarnos de todos modos y probarlo con la esperanza de que nadie cerca de nosotros comprara nueces. Mi marido hizo un comentario sobre mi alergia al hacer la reserva. Nada más llegar el camarero nos dijo que habían dejado de vender nada con frutos secos una hora antes de que yo llegara para que pudiera sentirme completamente seguro. También nos dijo que el chef tiene alergia a los frutos secos para que supieran lo cuidadosos que tenían que ser al cocinar mi pizza. Sinceramente, nunca me había sentido tan bienvenido a un restaurante. Normalmente me reciben con preguntas si realmente debería comer allí, que es mi propia decisión tomar ese riesgo - Nell’s Pizza me hizo sentir bienvenido con los brazos abiertos. Y honestamente puedo decir que la pizza fue probablemente una de las mejores que he probado! Seguro decir que volveremos con la familia y amigos. Gran servicio Nell’s!!

Pizza not bad apart from only having slices and no full pizzas. Some of the staff are absolutely lovely yet this isn't the case for all of them unfortunately. Some really young servers with really big attitudes. Just went from 5 ⭐️ to 3⭐️ for this fact

I went in to pick up a take out pizza and waited over 20 mins at which point the bar man said he'd find out what was happening he came out and said my pizza had exploded but they were making a new one. He went back to the kitchen and came out a minute later with a cold pizza! They clearly hadn't made a new one so no explosions then? A piss take on 2 counts. Those pizzas are expensive so the least they can do is show some respect and bring it out warm!

I don't usually like going out for Pizza but have come around to it lately largely as a result of Nells. This isn't a salad on your pizza/overpriced wine/eat your pizza with a knife and fork type of place. This is a New York pizza/beer/hang out type of place. The "do you roni honey" is by far the best we have had and the pizza bases are incredible. We were less impressed by the "cugine" and buratta pizzas which were okay but lacking in flavour somewhat. We usually order a half-half so we can try more than one type, but after mild disappointment with the other styles we will be sticking with "do you roni honey" from now on. The pizzas are humungous and easily feed 3-4 people. The price is a little steep compared to other places in Chorlton that offer a more formal restaurant style meal for a similar price but if you are looking for a good pub/pizza place to go with friends - this is hard to beat.

The pizzas were tasty and imaginative. Lots of good veggie options too. Unfortunately, the music was atrocious and bad enough to put us off our food. It was ultimate elevator music and when we complained we were told it was a corporate decision from whoever owns The Beagle franchise and they were not allowed to change. Won’t be coming back 🙁

25/04/24: Northern Monk Brewery: Faith x Peach pale ale 29/07/23: Red Willow Brewery: Breakfast Stout 5.6%, Kirkstall Brewery: Apricot sour 4.5% and Northern Monk Brewery: Guava Have Faith, guava hazy pale ale 4% 08/10/22: been here many times on the Chorlton Ale Trails, but not for quite some time. Previously known as Ostara, Charango, Scotts Hill and now The Beagle. I've frequented Chorlton from as far back as the last 1980's. In a recent request asking if they were still dog friendly, they replied "please bring dogs". Definitely dog friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Great, fantastic open plan lower tier area, glass fronted, airy and very relaxing. Fantastic choice of craft ales and were more than helpful in suggesting and giving tasters of new brews. They also boast Nells Pizza. It's delicious, although we opted for one slice after a large breakfast (elsewhere) as opposed to the 14 or 22 inch pizzas they also offer. The 'Do you like Roni Honey' was amazing! N'duja and pepperonifrom Cobble Lane, tomato sauce, mozzarella and finished with chilli honey and parmasan.

Always great food and atmosphere! They usually have great music, but recently had a terrible DJ that was going awful remixes of 90s and 00s song like Millshake 😂. If they stuck to the usual neo jazz soul djs a d playlists and the cool jazzy bands they have then its perfect 🙌

Popped in after a long walk and despite it being busy we managed to find a seat. Grabbed a huge pizza to share and dipping sauces. Very tasty and a success. Got drinks from the bar but very expensive. Got two lemonades and it cost £9!

Still some of the best pizza you can get in Manchester for sure. Great, friendly staff too. However, the price of beer and drinks is a big let down. £3 for a half-pint of coke and upwards of £7 for some (good but not incredible) pints is madness and should not be normalised.

We met friends here and booked a table staff were really helpful and professional. We had the vegan massive pizza it was delicious.

This is how to do a pub/bar. Great staff, beers, tunes, atmosphere and pizzas. I feel extremely fortunate having this as my local pub!

Didn't want to lose our deposit so rushed and got there 4 minutes late, and was reminded again (by the same colleague who answered the phone) the table was needed back - this was in 86 minutes time and we got asked if we still wanted to sit down? The place filled up but even as we left there were a good number of tables sitting empty for the duration of our visit. It might've been the case that all were booked in and due to turn up very shortly after we left but even so, this whole experience could have been handled so much better. I work in hospitality and appreciate it isn't always the best gig but we don't really know what we did to incur this lad's wrath. Hopefully a one-off, but I'll probably stick to Common next time.

Great place, we visited here for Nell’s pizza. You can order at the bar or via a QR code. Both drinks and pizza came quickly. The pizza was delicious, staff friendly and we will definitely be back!

The beagle is one of my favourite places to eat at and work at as a DJ! Lovely food, lovely people :) Nell’s is by far my favourite pizza in town!

I had a wonderful experience here. Food was well priced, quantity was good & the pizza was tasty. The atmosphere was good & the team were friendly. None of really enjoyed our drinks that much. The cocktails were too sweet, my GnT wasn’t the best & the beer selection wasn’t great. I would go back for food & vibes, but not to drink.

Great Pizza Slices and Frozen Margaritas

I haven’t been to this bar in a few years and what a transformation. From a busy brunch spot to a cold lifeless bar. We came in the early evening to try the pizza. On arrival it was very quiet, a couple of other tables, all sat in the conservatory. It was a cold, wet day and the door was wide open. I was hoping for a bit of warmth! We sat at a nice table and got drinks from the bar. I had a margarita which was fine but nothing special tbh. We ordered the N’duja pizza and a garlic bread. The garlic bread came first and it was tasty. Unfortunately the bottom was burnt black and was very unpleasant tasting. I ate around it best I could. The pizza arrived and it looked nice. I found the base very bready. I felt it wasn’t fresh? Perhaps frozen? I should have asked, my bad. The pizza was just ok, nothing special unfortunately. They had ice cream sandwiches and I love those! I tried the red velvet one. I’m happy to report that it was very tasty. When it came I thought it was a bit small but it turned out to be the perfect size for my appetite. Again it wasn’t made fresh but came in a cute wrapper with the factory production dated printed on it. I dunno, I prefer fresh food when eating out. All the food was served on paper plates (the pizza came on a baking tray) which made me feel as if I were at a child’s dinner party. I thought it was pretty cheap, I prefer to eat from real plates if I’m paying to eat somewhere! Staff were friendly, but the barman wasn’t very knowledgeable, couldn’t make an Ameretto sour Overall, I would go back for a pint and perhaps get my pizza elsewhere. Plenty of good pizza spots in Chorlton.

A nuanced and alternative venue with a homely decor. A wide selection of drinks with a variety of music in a comfortable environment, and a blissful atmosphere. The type of place that exemplifies the bohemian and naturalistic sights and vibe of Chorlton.

We went in for a drink as we'd never been in before, the weather was mixed so we had a couple of drinks and we kept on getting a waft of pizza, so we decided to check them out, they were not all your regular toppings but we decided to have the cheese and onion pie one which was recommended by one of the staff, its was amazing, the service was great too and we will be back at some point

Pizza was lovely, margaritas were great too. Went on the bank holiday so it was quite busy but will certainly go back!

Great venue / lovely staff / great atmosphere the only thing I would say is they need to ask the cleaner to check the ladies toilets/ skirting boards need a good clean and needs some paint work as looks a bit tired and slightly dirty - deep clean .

Visited for the first time in a while hoping to see a few gluten free options. Disappointing to see that this hasnt happened, aside from a couple of small sides (Olives, meats) Still no gluten-free options on the menu.

Love this place, pizza is decent not spectacular and I wish they still served a variety of food like they used to but I still like it for its choice of craft beers

First visit to this bar and Paulicarus probably will not be back. Only 1 real ale, Thornbridge Lucaria, a 6% Ice Ceam Stout which is too strong for both of us. A second pump was sold out. Lots of strong craft keg beers and a couple of normal strength house beers. Pizzas seem to be popular here. Card only so loses a star for that alone. Sun trap conservatory plus a couple of outside tables.

Yo Beagle! If I wanted to be ignored all night, cleaned up after the previous customers and wiped my own table I'd have got a dominos and stayed at home with the wife. I'd have saved £45 too.

Went for the massive 22 inch pizzas provided by Nells, with 50% off in January it's hard to resist. Decent boozer with a vast array of beers and ales and super friendly staff.

Although it's New York style so don't expect puffy neapolitan crusts etc. Nowt wrong with that though! I’m not sure whether I had dinner in a bar that serves pizza or a pizzeria where you don’t have to eat and can just get a drink. The lines blur. The company that runs the Beagle, and two other sites in Manchester, also produces the pizza - Nell’s Pizza. There’s good ethics here – an interest in the local and sustainable. So, the flour for the pizza dough is organic. The meat comes from the excellent Heaton Chapel butchers, Littlewoods. Unlike most British pizza, which is based on the Neapolitan style, Nell’s says its pizza is in the New York style. Now, I confess to not knowing what difference that might be and, having eaten there, still don’t know for sure. The difference I noted is the pizza is very thin – so thin that it doesn’t retain the heat and the last third of the pizza was effectively eaten cold. And there’s not a sign of crispness to the dough. Maybe that’s how New Yorkers like It but it’s not an improvement on how most places cook their pizza. It’s a shortish pizza menu. Three pizzas use meat, the other eleven suitable for vegetarians or vegans. One takes you back to the interest in “local”, with their “cheese and onion pie” flavoured pizza. As they say, a Northern classic – my partner’s mother used to bake a lovely cheese and onion pie. There’s the sweetness of cooked onions and Lancashire cheese is used alongside mozzarella and parmesan. Roast garlic and chives provide a bit of an "edge” to it. More straightforward was the “Original Cheese” – tomato sauce, mozzarella and parmesan. Flavours were fine. Texture wasn’t. No need to rush back.

Really lovely afternoon for my daughters 50th,staff were fantastic and pizza was lovely. I believe alcohol was quite expensive but I don't drink it so not a problem for me.

Great pub in Chorlton, one of our favourites. Good service and alcohol. Nice atmosphere. I don't think the pizzas are as good as my friends do to be honest, but the fact you can order by the slice is a game changer. Regularly stop by on dog walks.
