The Bay Tree Cafe in West Lothian

Ordered online via Scoffable for my daughter and I. I ordered the Chicken Cheese Bacon & Hash Brown Burger. Omg this was amazing! The burger was sooo tasty and the chips were fab too! The estimated time was 1hr, but came in 20mins. I was caught short and forgot to tip my driver - apologies! Its a shame your own order website appears down and having to use Scoffable instead. Great local cafe. Thanks again.

Zondagochtend om half 10 waren zij al open. De kaart heeft genoeg keuze voor iedereen. Voor de kleine en grote eters. Vriendelijk personnel, heerlijk gegeten en vooral onze complimenten voor de haggis. De afgelopen week hebben iedere dag ergens haggis gegeten en die van jullie smaakt het beste. Het is een klein restaurant waardoor je bijna een woonkamer gevoel hebt. De prijzen zijn echt goed in vergelijking met andere steden.

I was super glad to find this wee gem when we discovered that our hotel didn't serve breakfast. Lovely staff and really tasty breakfast. My son had pancakes and I had a yummy small breakfast. The staff were very accommodating and had a pleasant manner. Top marks 🙂

Just finished our wonderful afternoon tea delivered to our hotel. It was beyond our expectations. So much variety and very fresh. Would totally recommend to anyone.

Found this little gem in the past few weeks and have been back numerous times. Does a really good breakfast but also excellent for coffee and homebaking/traybakes. Well worth visiting and the owner is really friendly. They do deliveries, lunches, breakfasts etc so drop in and support your local businesses.

Best burger in the village, Cameron the driver is super nice. Great food and great customer service. Will definitely be back again

Enjoyed a great breakfast whilst sitting on the outside table with the kids, good portion and throughly enjoyed, will be back in.

Food was freezing as owner had it made and delivered 2 hours early, called to say wanted delivery for 1pm staff lunch hour owner went ahead cooked and delivered it arrived at 11am told us it was take it or leave it but no refund will be given as i wont be out of pocket I dont care if its freezing cold i will just bin it .Have used Bay tree cafe in east Calder many times and have recommended them to lots of people not any longer staff attitude was disgraceful

Almost closing time but the lovely owner happy to see us and delicious fresh scone and traybake washed down with two large hot coffees were perfect. Would happily pop in anytime in the area.

Lovely wee cafe, beautiful shabby chic decor, nice ambiance, great bacon roll, and always very welcoming, been there a few times lately, great place for a takeaway too, particularly during lockdown 👌🏻

Charming little cafe with very friendly service. Nothing too much trouble; breakfast rolls were huge, and served all day. Delicious hot chocolate, and everything served with a smile. Homemade cakes looked yummy...saving those for the next visit.

Had "The Cheesy Bacon" burger today, Fantastic!!! Brioche bun, top quality burger. Chips, or not, with it, as you please. Nice, relaxed, options to the menu, that the lady was very helpful with. Would definitely recommend. 👍😁❤️

We passed this little gem whilst out a walk with the dog and baby and decided we'd give it a try.. Well I'm so very glad we did.. 2 breakfast rolls, 2 coffees and 2 slices of cake (because who says no to cake) all for a very decent price plus the food was absolutely tasty and hit the spot perfectly soo.. We're defo going back! The owner is lovely lady and very genuine happy person... She made us feel very at ease especially with all the goings on.. plus my dog liked her so that's a plus.

We were in today and the owner was so friendly and nice, the coffees were lovely and the carrot cake was to die for, would highly recommend this cafe.

As I write it is winter so you can guess it is cold outside. My son and I usually meet for a cup of tea and a catch up once a week and we recently started to go to The Bay Tree Cafe in East Calder. Well for me it is like a wee slice of heaven, warm, in fact not just warm, cosy is the best word with a gentle , harmonious ambience. Always a friendly smile and word as we arrive. I have to say though that the home baking is just superb, we were there today but instead of my usual wonderfully tasty scone, cream and jam I spotted slices of fruit loaf. Now I've eaten fruit loaf before many times but never here and I can tell you from the heart or perhaps more appropriately from my stomach, this is the BEST fruit loaf I have tasted in a long time, perhaps ever. It was moist, superbly flavoured without being to zesty and baked to perfection, it was so good I had a second piece. Of course the fruit loaf is only one example of the great home baking, however there is only so much a man can eat................... I look forward to me next visit! :)

My experience of The Bay Tree Cafe was excellent. The cup of coffee was lovely and the slice of cake was tasty. The atmosphere was relaxing and friendly. The owner was welcoming and took an interest in my day and my love of theatre. I look forward to making another visit next time I'm in East Calder.

My daughter and I were out for a run in the car and fancied “a wee cup of tea”, but wanted something nicer than the supermarket cafe. Found this little gem on trip advisor site. Small premises but lovely friendly atmosphere. Nice choice of snacks. There were meals available if you wanted them. We had a soup and a sandwich. Soup was delicious and the sandwich (one brown bread and one white) were so fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it very good value. Will go back if in the area.

Out looking for a cafe with a handicapped friend and found this one by chance. Owner was no helpful and we had delicious homemade soup followed by coffe and the most mouth watering homemede lemon cake. A lovely calm tastefully decorated wee cafe. We will be back and highly recommend.

Today I visited the Bay Tree Cafe for my neice's 4th birthday tea party! The cafe was opened especially for us on a Sunday, (which was very kind of the owner), and the spread was absolutely perfect! The attention to detail was fabulous and we were looked after amazingly well! I really had a brilliant time today and would highly recommend this lovely venue for tea and cake or for a little private function. I am a vegetarian and was even given my own little platter of sandwiches, wraps and frittata, which were all delicious.My neice was thrilled, as were all the adults, so thank you very much to The Bay Tree Cafe for our little family tea party!

Breakfast really good, proprietor really friendly and very welcoming made breakfast even although it was long past the stated hours, breakfast service having finished at 11.30 we were there at 12.45

Popped in for a Saturday lunch. Quality of the food was excellent. Second time I have been here and it was as good as the first time round.

Absolutely love this cafe. Visit most weeks for lunch or just coffee. It's cosy, welcoming and beautifully done out in 'shabby chic' style with the emphasis on the chic! The food's great and the home baking always fresh and totally delicious! The proud owner deserves all the success the cafe enjoys!

We stumbled upon by mistake having got lost! We were very hungry and was not disappointed with our food. Proper toastie,,,homemade soup and delicious coleslaw, finished off with a truffle cake. Absolutely love The Bay Tree Cafe. The owner is very welcoming and polite, she always makes sure you are comfortable. The food is second to none from the homemade soup to the homemade cakes! Also when your inside it’s such a warm heart place, lovely decor. I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now and never disappointed. I would reccommend this fantastic place to anyone.

We had a 60th afternoon tea and the owner opened it up on Sunday for us. It was the first time I had been here and I was very impressed by the quality of the food and the venue. All of the food was home made and was excellent. One of the nicest afternoon teas I have had.

Called in here a couple of times with my daughter who lives in the area. Friendly welcome, lovely decor and, more importantly, wonderful coffee and home-made cake. Hope to return soon!

Popped in to the cafe on Sat. afternoon with my wife, I had the potato & leek soup, macaroni cheese & chips, wife had macaroni cheese with garlic bread. Food was cooked to order and was lovely as was the service. Will be back again.

Partner and I visited for a late morning full breakfast. Good quality ingredients cooked perfectly. Shall definitely return. Also, the homemade tablet is melt in the mouth!

My wife and I moved to East Calder, Scotland from England in January 2018. It was a month or so before we decided to try the Bay Tree Cafe. We’re so glad we did. We were made to feel really welcome which was a big plus for us, since moving had been a big step in our lives.

The service Sheena provided was fantastic! I ordered a fair few morning rolls.

We were back here for our regular bacon and egg roll and pot of tea. As always, the service was swift and friendly, with the added bonus of sitting outside due to the glorious weather! As usual, the café was spotless. A few weeks ago we had a special event and our usual baker was ill. Sheena baked us 100 scones, which proved very popular. We also love her cakes. Highly recommended.

the locus is actually east calder, we had lovely breakfast here with good service. it's a nicely presented cafe with reasonable prices. i'll be back!

Absolutely adorable little vintage café, beautifully decorated, amazing friendly service! we are regulars in this cafe, we love it!!. The food is fab and the cheesecakes are the best we've ever had. Definitely recommend this café to everyone!

First visit today as my daughter who goes for lunch recommended it. Lovely comfortable clean cafe with vintage style decor and very frinedly service. Had the Brie and Cranberry Panini with homemade coleslaw Macaroni cheese and chips and Scottish Tablet, cheesecake to die for!!. All really tasty and excellent value for money. Would hiighly recommend. My favourite lunch venue now!!!

Our walking group came across this cafe by chance, A small cafe but there was room for us all. Very interesting menu, delicious soups and various types of scones there. Cakes original and delicious too. Attentive staff - will go back if in the area again.

We popped in today for a light lunch and enjoyed soup and bread for just over £5. The portion was generous and the (apparently homemade) bread delicious. The only slight complaint was that the lentil soup was not as thick as we normally like. But it was very tasty, and I don't know anywhere else that you'd get something that good at that price.
