Thai Rainbow in Lichfield

We have been hear quite a number of times and each visit the restaurant has never disappointed. Love eating here. The staff are always friendly and very courteous. The food is exceptional. Would certainly recommend.

We opted for the set menu, and I must say, it was easily the best Thai cuisine I’ve tasted outside of Thailand! The host, along with the waitstaff, were incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. I’ll certainly be returning—thank you for a fantastic evening!

Me and my partner both got food poisoning from this place I don’t know how some people have given this restaurant so many positive reviews hence why we did come here in the first place judging on others reviews. Unless we were just the unlucky ones we did read a couple have mentioned also they had food poisoning from this place we just ended up taking a risk eating here and wished we went elsewhere now I believe the meat did taste off with a funky taste but the lady made out that is how the sauce is they use over it. Never again here! I would not recommend at all

What an amazing restaurant! Staff are lovely, food was divine! We ordered the set menu and it was truly the best Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand! The host and waitresses couldn’t do enough for us. I’ll definitely be back, thank you for a wonderful evening.

We ordered a pad Thai with chicken and prawns and by mistake they gave us a pad Thai with pork and chicken. We complained and instead of redoing the food from scratch they removed the pork and added the prawns as some pieces where left still. We could taste the pork and I literally hate pork.

What a lovely place! The food is absolutely delicious, and the staff are so kind, friendly, and welcoming ☺️ They have made an effort to speak with me each time I have come, making me feel like they really care about providing a great experience every time. My favorite dishes so far are the Red Curry (I had it with duck which was superb), the Stir fried Sweet & Sour Chicken, the Chicken Satay, and the Banana Fritters with Ice Cream was wonderful, too! The interior is very pretty and well designed. I love the art work they have on the wall, it feels quite reserved and traditional and creates a very cozy atmosphere. I also like that they play traditional music, but at a very nice volume so it’s not distracting. Finally, I think the pricing is very reasonable. The 3-course, 2-course, and 1-course lunch deals are especially good! I can’t wait to come back many times and try more items on the menu!

Quality ingredients, beautifully presented. Friendly attentive staff. Let down by the sauces. Bland. I cook Thai and if a sauce has ginger, lemon grass and lime, you should be able to taste them. I couldn't.

1st time dining here. Food & drink was plentiful & delicious. Service was on the whole very good.

It feels like the most authentic Thai food when I come to the UK. It maintains the Thai decoration style and the Thai people's humble and polite service attitude. Very recommended. The food tastes very good too.

Great food service was good definitely go again

I have visited this restaurant over the years with friends and have always been delighted with the service and food; however my last two visits I was not impressed. The portions of food have been reduced, but the prices have risen! Not such a good choice of menu anymore either, lots of items removed. Service was adequate, only 6 of us in the restaurant the whole time I was there. Maybe management need to rethink their appeal to customers and, the pricing!

Went as a party of 16 and the staff were very welcoming, the meals were nice although blander than expected. When asked to pre-order our food before arriving we were not given a menu so had to find one online before hand and order, only to find upon arrival that meals were £3-7 more than expected, which adds up. I have never eaten over £30 worth of food at a restaurant before, my individual bill coming to £37, the overall £600+ including a 10% service charge. (The only service being the food and drinks which is normal for most if not all restaurants?) When presented with the bill, we asked to split between the separate parties that came to create the 16 and were told no. Except no singular individual can pay a £600+ charge all in one go at a restaurant. Essentially, we had to tell them that the bill must be split otherwise unsure how to pay appropriately to who had what meal. (Split evenly came to around £55 yet it was unfair to have individuals pay £20 more than they ate) We then had to spend a further 20 mins accounting our own numbers for an even bill when surely separate bills could have been asked for at the beginning? Considering we had name cards on our tables with our orders it should no be so difficult. Throughout the meal we had mentioned possibly coming again as it was a nice experience yet the end had put us off entirely, so unfortunately will not be coming back, all 12 of us.

Disappointed with the service. The owner was rude, did not smile, it felt like a chore that he had to serve us. The other staff were good. We had to pre order our food as it was a large group. Starters were very good, as were the mains but the noodles we ordered came out to late to accompany the main meal so it went cold. The menu used to pre order on line was out of date and when it came to paying it was all over the place and we ended up paying way more than we expected about 15.00 more! Then they tried to slap on a 60.00 service fee on the group! So needless to say, we will not be returning or recomending this restaurant.

Always fantastic. Kind and welcoming staff, child friendly, clean, banging food and good value.

We went on 28th Dec for lunch, we were passing and checked out the menu. Lovely food and great service. We will be back.

£23 for service charge nice surprise end of meal. Prawn crackers never asked for them £3.50 a bowl ,never paid before. Asked bottle beer we all got 2 bottles each already opened . Girls asked for soft drinks all come in PT glasses. Obviously taking the mick not a good way of getting customers back.

Excellent service, priced reasonably, and food delicious, would certainly recommend. Friendly atmosphere, not rushed, and food choices were good, its a regular have been before and will visit again.

All the meat dishes were way over over cooked and our waiter would not speak, not even a polite word of thanks or your welcome. But, the starters were good.

Refreshing lovely and light. I really enjoyed the meal. The food was fresh and there was loads of flavour. My wife and I love visiting here.

We were walk-ins to this lovely restaurant - it was apparent from listening to customers as they came in there was a good amount of repeat business . We had set menu for 2 persons at £26 per head - it was very generous servings and full of flavours .. a green Thai curry dish , a beef dish and a deep fried pork dish. The starters were very good as well

Food was overpriced compared to the the portion. The service was very slow even though it was completely empty. Was a complete waste of money.

Hadn’t been to the Thai Rainbow in years - but it was every bit as good as I remembered . Delicious food , really good portion sizes , absolutely lovely people running the place . The lunch time menu is excellent value for money . I’d definitely go again . I’m not a huge fan of eating out but it really was delicious . Highly recommend eating here .

Stopped in while visiting Lichfield for a reunion. We came in quite late without a booking but the staff were happy to give us a table. Attentive service, lovely food and overall a great place to eat. Excellent.

Was going for a curry but after many bland meals decided to give Thai rainbow a go, glad we did. Four of us had the set meal which was very good, and not bad value, all dishes were extremely tasty. Friendly staff, will return 👍

My husband and I had a mini break in Lichfield, we can never go to Lichfield and not eat at this restaurant. Luckily we had booked a table for Saturday night, 29 April, it was very busy. We chose prawn crackers, the sharing platter to start with, beef with vegetables, crispy duck, coconut rice and fried rice and a bottle of red wine. All the food was delicious, the duck was so delicious we ordered another portion. Great food and service. Our favourite Thai restaurant and so handy for us as we stay at The George Hotel opposite.

Four of us had a lovely meal on a Friday evening. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. We had the set meal which was good value too. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back.

From the time we went in to the time we left, we was welcomed by the staff, our waiter was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, food was excellent and the prices was reasonable. I would 100% recommend

Hadn't booked, but owner/manager found us a nice table despite being really busy. Food was great and service just right, not overly attentive and food was delivered without too long a delay. Last and most import, I left my mobile and didn't realise until I got home, thankfully staff answered when I rang, as it had been handed into lost property when our server cleared the table, and was able to retrieve it a short time later.

Had a super lovely meal here on a Friday night. They were very accommodating as we hadn’t booked a table and still managed to seat us straight away. We had two starters and shared a main all of which was delicious. We asked for adjustments to the food and it came hot and as ordered. We will definitely be back!

Brilliant food and friendly service excellent well done

Continuing on our battle of the Thai restaurants, this Saturday we tried Thai Rainbow. We all opted for the lunchtime set menu and each course was again fantastic. I personally prefer the setting of mama Thai but I like that Thai rainbow offer fish options. Very nice and would return.

I do understand that Friday evenings are crowded but Instead of politely declining me a table, they offered me one (well, not like we have anything to lose). Then they made me wait for 45 minutes. I was polite and patient enough to wait but then it was absolutely disrespectful to serve me a dish I never ordered just to get rid of me. To my absolute surprise they also knew they were offering me a dish I never ordered. They probably assumed I wouldn’t get to know. When I confronted and told them it’s not what I ordered, there wasn’t any apology. They were happy to let me go after making me wait 45mins. So yeah, waited 45 mins and then walked out to go into a restaurant next door. The restaurant next door highlights the hospitality of UK I have always experienced. This one was a shocker. If getting humiliated isn’t for you, avoid this place. If you aren’t a local avoid this totally. They exactly knew what they were doing, I do not appear a local and neither do I have a British accent. So i obviously wouldn’t be a regular customer and they thought it was absolutely okay to treat me the way they did. Also, if you are a local and don’t think it’s okay when people are mistreated based on such factors, and bring disrepute to your city, avoid this place on behalf of us. This is only bringing disrepute to your city.

Took a booking for an important family event then claimed there was no booking when we arrived. Will not book there again.

Took my wife out to dinner here. The staff were polite and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The food was well prepared, beautifully presented, it we both enjoyed the meal. Overall, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere meant we could enjoy each others company and the food. I highly recommend the Thai Rainbow.

The best Thai food we’ve eaten outside of Thailand. Really attentive service and a great atmosphere.we had the starter platter, pad Thai and sizzling scallops all of which were amazing.

Lunch was good if not excellent. Good attentive staff and did not have to wait for meal to be served. Prices are reasonable.

Me and my partner visited Thai Rainbow for the first time this week for an impromptu date night. What a little gem this place is! We ordered one of their sharing menus 'Bangkok' which was thoroughly delightful from start to finish. All of the dishes were piping hot, the meat was tender and vegetables were fresh. Great value for money, friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere and we will definitely be returning.

Can’t believe how expensive this place has got recently. Food was nice but £15 for a starter platter that was minimal to say the least. You don’t even get prawn crackers when seated anymore.

Service was excellent, and food was lovely.

The service has gone downhill since our last visit. We were served the wrong meal & the staff were very blaize & did not attempt to change it, the chicken meal was overcooked & the chicken was dry & hard. We were totally ignored throughout the meal & wasn't offered any sweet or coffee so we just asked for the bill as we just wanted to leave. They were not busy so couldn't understand why we were being ignored. I am not sure if we will ever go there again after this experience.

This is a sweet restaurant, food good and plentiful. What let's this place down is the atmosphere. The staff seem to rushed to give good customer service... It's not a calming effect to have staff rushing around all the tables like crazy.... One particular waitress...

The ambience and food was lovely but the staff were too keen to take away our plates whilst we were still eating, even took away my daughter's fork. Shame we felt rushed.
