It's okay. The food isn't bad per se, just not good either. There is no real flavour and no spice to it. It's okay. It just doesn't taste like Thai food. It's better than the other one in Dorchester, at least. That one was the worst I've ever had. So I guess out of the two, this wins. But I won't be going back. It's a shame though, as thai is my favourite food.

Larger than it looks, the restaurant was busy on a Sunday evening. Thai fish cakes as a stater were tasty and fresh. Main course of Prawn Pad Thai was well done, again fresh tasting and the noodles, vegetables and prawns all had really nice textures. No ingredients overcooked, a really good flavour. Overall good value for money.

Very disappointed. Texture was horrid and food was tasteless.Annoyed that i had to give you a star just to write my review. So i gave you one. I have never eaten at a restaurant where they served dried cheap tofu, especially in an up market location as Dorchester. It was my first time in Dorchester and I arrived in the evening over the weekend. I was shocked. I had just visited a friend and I was about to drive home. I love eating Thai food and was feeling very hungry. I prefer Thai food to Indian or Chinese food. Because the Thai food is delicately fragrance but with lots of different flavours and nicely garnished. I arrived out of the very cold that evening. The restaurant was not very busy. I sat down and knew what I wanted to eat. I am vegetarian and so I ordered a tofu starter. I was not impressed with the high price of the menu. No need. I have eaten Thai food in a restaurant a lot and do not see why this restaurant should charge extortionately high because the area is supposedly a big town centre where houses are slightly under the value of London. So, I ordered a side order of Jasmine rice. I was expecting the soft white tofu, nicely season in a seasoned sauce. When the starter arrived with a tiny bowl of rice, It looked more like sticky boiled rice and not Jasmine rice and horrified to see dried cheap tofu. I should have put up a fuss as I would never have expected to eat that dried textured tofu. It needs to be soaked for at least five hours + and cooked in a flavoured sauce. I've purchased it once. From Holland and Barrett, a 375g bag at £1.99. Never again. It is a horrible texture. Not what you expect to be served in a posh location or even in a restaurant. This restaurant could not have soaked it long enough. Then, they deep fried them. The tofu texture was like eating deep friend flavourless bread. I eat three bits only. I then poured what little sauce there was in the tiny bowls over my sticky rice and quickly eat some of it then stood up. The English teenage waitress arrived, I told her that was vile. I walked over to quickly pay for my food and left. I would have expected her to show some concern as i hardly eat the food. Possibly because i did not look like i was a local. Well, I was born in London. I am not a foreigner.NO phone or WiFi signalThe starter cost nearly £7.00 and side order of sticky rice cost nearly £3.00 OMG. And it was not what I ordered, jasmine rice was not worth the price. Shocked. And to think that I was going to purchased a portion of vegan fish and chips. I really wish that I had.

I was staying at the hotel next door, and this was recommended. It was pretty empty, though it was mid-week, so I gave it a go. Had a prawn curry special dish which was really delicious, along with fried rice. If I hadn't missed out on lunch, I couldn't have eaten it all as the portion size was huge. The prawns were shell-on in the spicy sauce, so fingers got very messy; a finger bowl would have been a good idea.Staff were lovely and seemed to take real pride in diners' enjoyment of their food

Having worked in Thailand for 6 years requested one of my favourite dishes which was not on the menu. This was no problem for the Chef and it tasted just as good in Dorchester as it did in Thailand. Also gave me the opportunity to practice my basic Thai again. Pleasant surroundings but background Thai music a little dull! Bring on the Thai Issan music which is a little more upbeat

I went here on a Friday night and booked a table in advance, which was worth doing as it was quite busy. The food was nice on the whole, but I would say a tad over priced, especially the beer! The main fault I found was there was only 1 lady working - taking orders/ serving/ working the bar and taking payment. This made for a very slow meal with me having to go to the bar and pay, almost 30 mins after finishing the meal. It felt like we had been forgotten about. This could have been a one off, but nonetheless, put a bit of a negative feel on the meal.

A party of about 9 went for dinner. We could not fault the food but the restaurant was full and there was only one waitress to serve everyone. In addition, as I am disabled, gaining access up the well-worn steps without any aid (except for the letter box set into the wall next to the door), I found it very difficult to get in at all. I do not know if it is a listed building, and whether handrails are even allowed to be fitted; however, I would have thought that in the interests of health and safety and disability access, some kind of aid would be most welcome if I am to return at any time

I would recommend the duck dish as a main and the Thai fish cakes as a starter. Service is attentive but not in excess. Prices are reasonable including the drinks. The staff were friendly and polite but not over familiar or forever coming back to the table. We were asked at one point if we'd like more drinks and that was all we needed which is great. We were served quickly but didnt feel rushed. Both of our meals were really tasty and flavourful. The beef was just fall apart tender. mmmmmm. We weren't going to have desserts but did have the orange sorbet in the end. So tasty as well! Despite the slow service to begin with when the food arrived it was delicious. There was a great choice of starters and mains on the menu and the food was all very fresh. This is a real classic, even though it's new to Dorchester. As you enter there's the silence of softly moving staff and quietly speaking diners. The furniture is really heavy Thai carved wood with elephants set into every table. The food is very Thai, too, as it's supposed to be, The Thai fish cakes had been kept warm a bit longer than they should have been but the tempura vegetables were superbly flash fried. The main courses were very traditional i.e. lots of coconut but the curries were nicely spicy. If the cuisine could match the atmosphere and the service the rating would be outstanding. As it is it's better than 'Average', but not as good as 'Very Good' which are the choices on Trip Advisor.

8 of us had a lunch here recently. I think on the whole the food was fine, service fine and decor fine. There's more authentic Thai restaurants but for what we paid we were happy. I had the tapas lunch which comprised of a chicken green curry (not spicy enough), rice, chicken satay and spring rolls. This was £11 which left me very full!! Good value indeed. Other dishes eaten were Beef massaman (decent), chicken pad thai (tasty) and duck with ginger (ok). All washed down with cold Singha's! I noticed that the a'la carte menu is comparably short with other restaurants. This means they are not offering some really good dishes so I would rather see a longer menu if I visited in the evening.

Service is attentive and friendly, although the very strict '6-item ordering' hinders an overall good experience. I know how much I can eat, but it's not even that, it just makes it awkward if you have so much as a table of 4, who wish to order a couple of things each: no can do! As i say... It's rather awkward! Further more I have noticed that the rate of staff they go through I very high, which tells me this isn't a friendly place to work. But the wine was very nice, and the food is well decorated, but more time should be spent on preparing a better quality and quantity of food oppose to making it look pretty

An excellent venue for business social family or just a quiet meal. Having had a takeaway on many occasions and never disappointed. 3 nights in Dorchester and, sadly, went to the Thai Nakorn on the last night. If we'd gone there first, we would have eaten there all 3 nights. First: the service. Really lovely people, welcoming but not intrusive at all. And very prompt service. Second - and most important - the food. Just gorgeous. 11 vegetarian dishes so masses of choice. I had the battered tofu in sweet and sour sauce. Delicately flavoured, the sauce was light and zingy with a natural colour and thickness. Large pieces of tofu cooked in a crispy, tasty batter which, despite the sauce, never got soggy. I snaffled the lot down in no time and without pausing to make conversation with my beloved. In return, he didn't miss conversation, being completely besotted with his own meal: zingingly fresh veg and tofu stir-fried in a black bean sauce. The menu is perhaps not surprising but the dishes - although familiar - will surprise in how very well they are done. And - as I said earlier - just lovely people. Wish them well and wish I lived nearer and could eat there all the time. Loved it. Go!

Visited this restaurant for the first time on 23.08.15 and I will certainly be going back. The interior may be a clichéd but it is clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely welcoming , friendly and efficient without being intrusive.Value wise we chose the buffet option which is available on Sunday's for £15 per person (drinks separate) which was very good value. It may be of interest to note that the buffet at this restaurant is not of the pile your plate as full as possible from a communal servery arrangement, it is instead a process of choosing as many dishes as you want a le carte style and having them served to your table. The food was excellent both well presented and attractive to the eye , it was clearly freshly prepared by someone who took pride in their work. The portions were generous and flavours wonderful , it was possible to discern individual ingredients as opposed to an amorphous hot or sweet sensation as so often happens. Overall I would have no hesitation at all in recommending this establishment .

I can say that this is my favorite restaurant in Dorchester. The service is first class, polite and proper, friendly and hospitable. The food is excellent, no nonsense, unpretentious, well priced. It is clean, nicely decorated.I feel so at home when we go to dine there.

We visited the Thai Nakorn purely because we were staying in the hotel next door. We went for a family meal on a Sunday evening when there is a £15 all-you-can-eat deal. The food is cooked to order and you can choose more dishes once you have finished your previous selection. We had the mixed starters, followed by a variety of different dishes and were not disappointed with any of the food. It was all really tasty and beautifully presented. Some of our group did manage dessert (not included in the £15 and, by comparison, quite expensive at around £5 each). The staff are very friendly and welcoming and we really enjoyed our delicious meal.

A lovely friendly family restaurant near a large car park at the top of Dorchester, and well worth a visit if one is in the area. A wide variety of dishes, all of which I can thoroughly recommend. The welcome is always friendly, the food tasty, and the wines good. Enjoy.

One of the tastiest Thai meals we've had. They were very honest about the red and green curries containing fish sauce, and made us a selection of excellent dishes including pad Thai and massaman curry which most places pre-cook with fish sauce. Portions were huge, and we were both too full to even consider dessert. Would definitely return if we were in the area again.

We last visited here 2 years ago whilst on holiday. We were delighted to find it as good as ever! 1st class, but unobtrusive service, pleasant surroundings & well priced. The food still spot on, mixed starters to share, large prawns in the chu chi curry dish & seafood with red curry paste. The staff were also great with our baby.Thank you & we look forward to our next visit!

Went here for dinner with my friend for the first time. We had satay chicken and spring rolls to start then curries for main courses with sticky rice. Really tasty food with quick service and really polite staff. Great value for money and big portion sizes. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning!

Had a takeaway last week and the flavours were lovely. The curry itself was a bit watery but overall still tasted very nice. Will definitely order one again.

I don't usually give a restaurant five stars, but I can't think of anything that deserves complaining about! The staff are attentive and eager to please, the decor transforms you to Thailand as soon as you enter the door. The tables in particular are beautiful, it is worth going just to see the tables! The food was tasty and exactly as described in the menu and the prawn crackers were amazing, completely different to the ones we tend to get in other places. The restaurant is a family affair with the youngest making an occasional appearance. Would definitely go again.

Fantastic food and service. Among the best Thai restaurants I’ve been to worldwide and it’s close to home. Can’t believe we haven’t been before. Great value and a lovely atmosphere. Hopefully be back soon.

Nice to see a Thai family set up a small restaurant in Bridport, and to read some good reviews below. However we did not enjoy our experience here. The restaurant area is pleasant, with 20 table settings and pleasant shabby-chic furnishings, but the kitchen divided off within the same room takes up too much of the available space. The plastic tablecloths were sticky, and polishable cutlery was unpolished, tarnished. There were no soups on the menu whatsoever, including the Thai classic, Tom Yum. How can any self-respecting Thai restaurant not serve Tom Yum? I was underwhelmed by my stir fried noodles with duck (£12.50), and my wife's lamb dish was too spicy for her taste. The owner unhesitatingly brought out a soup spoon of yoghurt on request, and laid it on her plate. Why not bring it in a small dish? Friendly people, but very amateurish. The least good Thai restaurant I have eaten at, by a wide margin. And take-away prices are the same as eat-in prices, and are not as inexpensive as one would expect from a family-run place. My opinion is of course subjective, and I am glad that this restaurant has a popular following. I am glad we tried it, but we shall not be returning.
