I'd heard mixed things about Tequila Tequila & I had decided it was not for me. But a lad from work was having a small gathering as a celebration. 5 of us and he wanted to go here. This last night, Saturday night. We checked the opening hours etc on Facebook and turned up at 7.30pm. Lights off and a HUGE padlock on the front door. If you close down please update your social media.. Judging by the last few reviews on here we dodged a bullet ! We had a cracking meal in an Italians near Park lane instead

I’m not one to moan about restaurants I always like to try independent local businesses. However, the food from here was so unfresh and tasteless, the chicken burger was straight from a frozen packet, bun burnt to a crisp and their chocolate fudge cake straight from Costco. Their drinks selection was limited they were out of both Diet Coke and some J20 flavours. Disappointed and would not go back :(

I went to tequila tequila last night (12/5/19). It was busy when we arrived and waited at the please wait to be seated sign for 10 minutes. We finally sat down with no menu eventually the first waitress came over to take drink order which was only 2 cokes we waited for them for 10 minutes. Just before the cokes arrived a second girl gave us the menu which we had not even 30 seconds because as soon as the cokes turned up the menu was taken off us. We received our starter followed by main really quick but the dessert took over 45 minutes (2 hot chocolate fudge cakes). While we waited for them the waitresses (we had 3 instead of 1) kept offering other people's food to us. The waitresses kept forgetting table numbers and forgetting customers. One table of 2 women were eating their starter before we sat down but didn't get their main for over an hour as the staff forgot about them. The dessert was hard so you could tell it had been microwaved. Top it all off me and my husband had to go on their computer to find out bill as they had no idea who was sat where. All they had to do was turn computer 90 degrees the tables lined up with seating plan. Avoid at all costs. I put a review on Facebook last night and they removed it straight away they don't care

Only the boy behind the bar provided excellent service! The waitresses did come to take our order on time. I and my friend waited 15 min for someone to come and take our food order, wasn't busy at all tho! I've never been waiting 45 min for a starter that is nachos with salsa on it. And then 1 hour for the main meal(burrito)... we were pre-order it. When we finished with our drinks and the plates, we waited for deserts and ordered more drinks. Meanwhile, no one came to clear the plates no one from the staff came to ask if all is /was okay with the food and give us a sauce that we wanted. Been waiting too long, wasn't provided excellent service at all and the staff weren't polite and approachable at all! I'd never revisit it. It was my first and last time at Tequila Tequila!!

We went here on Easter Sunday. Not many people in. Steak was ordered . To then be told at 1430 they had no steak. Chose something else from menu. Waited around 40 mins for 4 meals. Place was deserted. Food not the best that ive had from here . Don't know if it was just because it was Easter .

Served by Kaye and a fantastic bearded gentleman. Food was amazing and such generous portions for the price we paid. Very warm and friendly atmosphere with inviting decor and menu. Cocktails were beautiful and their brilliant barman even offered to customize our cocktails for us since it was a quiet night. If you like Mexican food you'll love Tequila Tequila. No complaints from me! Five stars isn't nearly enough.

There I was, one rainy Saturday afternoon, caught in Sunderland with a few hours to kill before attending the theatre - a late lunch seemed just the ticket and so off I wandered to see what fell into my lap. After considering many, 'Tequila Tequila' just popped into my eye-line. And I'm very pleased it did. My needs were simple - a salad and a glass of wine, so I knew what I wanted before I went in there. I also knew the feel of the place - I'd visited the building when it was once a nightclub - this didn't occur to me until descending the staircase. So, I was politely shown to my choice of table, (it wasn't busy), and given a menu. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and a glass of white wine. I'll get to the point - I was delivered promptly, courteously and just the right portion size. I thoroughly enjoyed it you know, and thought it a shame that the place was so empty - however, on a shopping Saturday, restaurants like this are rarely filled at 4pm. I'd arrived between the lunch and dinner trade, so no surprise. I'd consider going back here for a night out. Friendly, attentive service, good food and realistic, reasonable pricing. Take any negative views of 'Tequila Tequila' with a pinch of salt before trying it yourself. It's worth a visit.

Went here to meet some friends for an evening meal and a catch-up Table was booked for 8pm Saturday night and there was not a lot of people in but it was a big weekend for the football so didn’t expect it to be busy Setting is very nice wasn’t much atmosphere but again wasn’t very busy The tables are a little odd in shape and we were sat in a booth ( as I asked for us to be moved to a smaller table as were orig sat on a table for 8 and there was only 4 ) and the table didn’t really fit Ordered a sautéed king prawns to start they were really good perfectly cooked and the sauce was lovey a friend order nachos and also said they were really good The mains were 4 chicken fajitas they were just that chicken was cooked nice although the sizzling veg a little over done and you got 3 wraps and 3 dips they were tasty but not great in presentation there was no salad ( salad bar available, open top serving space help your self not at the table) or cheese served with them although when a friend asked for some cheese they did bring some with out any issue Service was ok nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either Prices were average for what we had. Wouldn’t say I wouldn’t go back but also wouldn’t rush back so over all ok

After an afternoon on the peeve & searching for a decent frozen margarita, whilst shuffling along for a taxi, happened upon Tequila Tequila, nearly been in a couple of times but hadn’t for whatever reason, so pleased we did this evening. Looks a bit iffy from outside but it’s great once you get in! Brilliantly decorated, & much bigger than expected, it was canny busy & when we told the chap serving us we only wanted a drink was shown to a table, the waitress serving us was lovely, telling us about deals on the drinks, after looking at the menu we asked her if we could eat, we had been told it was fully booked with hods of large parties due in, we didn’t want to cause any bother but she couldn’t have been more attentive & helpful, organising our seats & additional food with no fuss, the grub was excellent, wor lass loving the tequila battered king prawns, we shared a grande fajita of steak strips n chicken, all superbly cooked. Amazingly our eyes were bigger than our combined belly’s & asked if we could have a doggy bag for the plentiful meat left, again sorted immediately. Drinks, food, value for money all excellent only topped by the fantastic service by Jess. 100% will be back.

Another restaurant week trip to Sunderland with a less successful outcome. I must admit my food ( potato skins and a very tasty chilli ) was good but my wife’s a little less so. She found her burger dry and tasteless and it didn’t look especially appealing. The waitresses service was good, certainly no problems there. Likely wouldn’t return to dine from a regular menu.I will add there was a good choice on the bar.

From sitting down in the restaurant staff were on hand . Very helpful and attentive. Food was lovely. Well worth the money. And it was 2 for 1 on cocktails. Definitely recommend

Came here to celebrate my sisters birthday as a group of 6. The pros are that the food is really nice, there’s a good variety on the menu and there’s a free salad bar which was lovely and fresh. Unfortunately the service wasn’t good, my starter arrived with the main meals and I wouldn’t have ordered it if I’d known it would come at the same time. As well as this they brought me the wrong main meal so I suppose I was lucky to have my starter while they cooked the right meal or I’d have been sat with no food while everyone else ate. Also we were not offered any more drinks after the first drinks we ordered when we arrived. If you’re a wine drinker just to be aware that it is cheaper to get 3 large glasses of wine than the bottle, bizarre. All in all, despite enjoying the food we won’t return.

We were here in January for a family birthday. we chose the buffet it was amazing. plenty of food, great choice of both starters and mains. Everyone enjoyed the food. Sadly we couldn't finish it all. would highly recommend it. Staff were brilliant.

The food was great, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Im not a big lover of spicy food, and the staff were really knowledgable and helped me decide what I wanted. The starter was really good, and as were the mains. Will definitely be returning.

Service staff were very shy and awkward. Starters were nice. Nachos for my partner and potato skins for me. Mains came out cold and very salty. Chicken fajitas for myself. Very hard,dry,cold and salty. Chicken skewer for my partner. Cold and far too much salt on. Complained and staff didn't do a single thing. Just said ok. Then walked off. First and last visit from us I'm afraid.

My partner and I come here daily! The food is amazing and well worth the money! From Mexican to their Sunday lunch! The staff are friendly and never miserable! I would definitely recommend this restaurant! Definitely worth a try if you haven’t already.

Visited TT twice now, both occasions we were very impressed. The food is great and the staff are friendly. The venue is quite big so you never feel too cramped.

We went here on Saturday evening for food and a catch-up with some friends. This used to be a bar set over 2 floors but now it has been transformed into a restaurant. Despite the huge space, there were only 4 or 5 occupied tables when we arrived at 6pm, and whilst people came and went while we were there, the restaurant never really filled out the ground floor, let alone the floor above.

We went for a late dinner one night and the service was great the staff are super friendly. We had the nachos to start which were average but the tequila battered prawns were good! We got tacos for the main, they were good too! Packed with meat that was cooked well. Margaritas are spot on too. The only thing I was disappointed with was the guacamole and the lack of cilantro/coriander. I much prefer fresh home made guacamole not the pre made puréed. The decor inside is very cool and fresh, I thought it was stunning inside

Arrived at 5pm for happy hour menu. Food and drinks arrived after a short wait. Starters were huge and really tasty. Main courses equally as delicious. Our waitress was lovely friendly young girl from Greece and manager Jonathan very friendly too. Will definately return. Excellent value for money and service .

We arrived during happy hour and the menu looked very good (under £10 for bottle of wine, £10 each 2 courses. Portions were huge :) Waitresses were lovely. Food was very nice .. will be back

I went here with a friend before heading to the theatre. You can get 10% off with your tickets however we had the happy hour special anyway.

Great atmosphere, fun little place with nice food and very strong cocktails. Left fairly full and would visit again.

Visited Friday afternoon with my partner, the place was empty but as the place is very big it will be difficult to fill all the tables especially on an afternoon.

Had meal was realy good and authentic place has lovely decor and was done out in day of dead Mexican theme server kat was excellent

We went here for my birthday Meal as I love Mexican food. It was lovely inside but rather quiet. We were seated immediately and given menus. Took 5 minutes to decide what we wanted and our food and drink orders were taken at the same time. Drinks came quickly and starters not long after. We ordered the nachos and breaded mushrooms to start. Presentation was very good and the portions were perfect size and delicious. Main meals came around 10 minutes after. My partner had the fajitas which she loved but not to my taste as there was no seasoning. My chimichanga on the other hand was lovely. They even put a candle on my chocolate brownie and sang happy birthday. Will definitely be returning!

Can't speak highly enough of this restaurant. We arrived without a booking with going to the theatre. The staff were brilliant, very attentitive. The food arrived and it was delicious. We are really enjoyed it. Thank you.

We arrived here for something to eat before attending the theatre. We had given ourselves a good 1 1/2 hours to order, eat and get to the theatre. We were a group of 5.

Our group ate here last night ,the place is lovely decorated really nice , the whole building including ladies immaculately clean, I don't eat spicy food but speaking to manager he had the chef cook me a taster of chicken to try ,very nice of him to take time to help me choose,sorry it wasn't to my taste,but my chicken ceased salad was Devine so nice ,everyone in the group enjoyed their food ,A BIG thank you to everyone , if you in town give it a try lovely staff,food and surroundings

Real nice place, quirky decor. The food was really well cooked but could definitely do with more spice. All in all a cool place , well worth a visit.

Wanted to give this a try so headed Sunday night .The waitress was a lovely young girl who made sure we had all we wanted . Place is big so will always be hard to fill, smaller would have looked fab . Starter was really nice , mushrooms tasted freshly made and not frozen and natcho's were fab .Mains for me , not so great . Chicken fajitas were not sizzling and also very plain no seasoning at all , No cheese just a bit of a let down . If you like fajitas you like a bit flavour as that dish is all about herbs so needs a tweak . Other than that I would go again . Hope it takes feed back well as thats what reviews are all about . Helping make it great

Was here yesterday for anniversary meal 1st time I’ve had Mexican and won’t be the last was absolutely delicious and staff were lovely and friendly will be back in the near future

Absolutely fantastic meal - service brilliant!!! I’ve never ate in a Mexican restaurant before due to the fact I don’t like spicy food but the staff were spot on with their recommendations ( I enjoyed a non spicy dish) all of our meals and cocktails were delicious . Defo something for everyone here and their special offers look fab!!! Will be back very soon !!!

Went for lunch today with the hubby, service fab, drinks nice.

Hard days graft shopping I was starving and normally hate eating by myself but I went in anyways. The staff recognised me immediately made me feel very welcome and asked if I would like to sit in my usual spot which was fantastic on their part slightly embarrassing on mine. The waitress asked me if I would be getting prawns today (as I always do) again fantastic but how they remember all this I don't know. Food was amazing as usual and received excellent service and the food came out faster than I was expecting not that I'm complaining over all safe to say I'll be back soon

Went here last night with the work family and it was lovely. Nice friendly atmosphere and good service from the staff. We ordered from both the main menu and the early bird special menu. Early bird menu ranged from £7 mains £9.99 for two courses plus extra £2-3 if you wanted 3 courses. Courses included breaded mushrooms, nachos and potatoe skins.. steak chilli, enchiladas, tacos and fajitas. A pint of desperado was only £4.80. The food was really tasty and reasonably priced. Not the best Mexican restaurant I've been to but it's very good for the price. It is really well decorated and the Mexican hats add an element of fun. Will be going here again and would recommend it to others. Thanks:)

Went with friends for my wife's birthday as we wanted something different from the usual, Indian, Chinese etc. and we weren't disappointed. Food was hot tasty and good size portions. Atmosphere was chilled and although it was apparent the staff were quite new they tried really hard and made sure we wanted for nothing. Would highly recommend

I had fillet steak fajitas, first time I've had them when they haven't come out sizzling. They were quite oily and it was far from the best cut of fillet steak I've had.

Visited on a Friday night and was hardly anyone in. The staff were very attentive and couldn’t do anymore for you. Food service was very quick. All ordered starters and mains. Cocktails were gorgeous and all the food was very reasonable priced.

Super Mexican food, far better than the main chain places. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced. Definitely be back

Have been to Tequila Tequila with friends, family, couples and it’s always been fabulous. The decor sets the scene, the atmosphere is buzzing and the food is amazing. I would definitely recommend a visit but once you’ve been you won’t be able to resist going back !!

Food was excellent and Michael and the staff were incredibly welcoming and great with our kids. Will definitely be back, sombreros and all!

the place itself is lovely, the decor is well done if a little dark to read the menu. the menu is extensive and the staff are very very friendly. the chilli is made with chuck beef as opposed to the mince but they let you know before hand and it was very nice and the portions were good on the burrito. i just felt i was a little expensive for what we had and very similar to a mexican chain restaurant that is quite popular.

Went for our sons birthday meal on Friday we had heard mixed reviews but are always willing to have a try. We weren’t disappointed service was fantastic we were talked through the menu by a fantastic young lady who took time to help our other son who is picky pick something he could eat. Drinks we’re prompt and tasty my wife having a cocktail that was beautiful.one of the things that I’d heard was the portion size was big so be careful, I forgot about that and struggled to eat a starter and a main meal as did the others in my family however every bit we did manage was exceptional and value for money we had various dishes from early bird menu all very tasty. One small fly in the ointment we were charged for dishes we did not order due to a shift change but this was rectified as soon as we pointed it out I would highly recommended a visit. And will return as well for mains only this time.hope this place works as it’s a beautiful building going to waste when not in use

Went to this restaurant last night for the first time, there was 6 of us and we pre ordered our mains as we were told it was going to be busy. Our table was for 6pm. The place is done out very nice, it looks fab! I didn’t find it very busy though. The waitresses was lovely and accommodating but we waited ages for the starters (which we hadn’t pre ordered) I ordered the 5 bean chilli for my main which was far too spicy to enjoy unfortunately. I would say it is more expensive than other comparative happy hour places near by but it was nice on the whole.

12 of us went last Saturday night and had a great time.

We throughly enjoyed celebrating our friends birthday at Tequila Tequila this weekend, the food was lovely, the staff were friendly and we had great service, the strawberry tequila shots were a fabulous touch! This was my second visit and I’ll definitely be going back!

I Recently visited for my sister's birthday, food was absolutely fantastic and the management and staff were amazing. I would highly recommend and will be visiting again very soon.

Came here with a few friends last week for a group meal. The nachos I had to start were very cold and tasteless. Got bbq fajitas for main and thought what could possibly go wrong with them. They were extremely bland, just a few pieces of cooked chicken and pepper. It was like they hadn’t been seasoned at all! £6 for the nachos and £12 for the fajitas is extremely overpriced for what you get. Cheap overpriced drinks as well. Rola Cola type stuff. Honestly sounds nice having a Mexican in Sunderland but they need to get their act together. Avoid.

So pleased we have a good mexican place in Sunderland now. Food was so tasty and margaritas where lovely I have both normal and frozen.

Came here for a family meal for my sisters birthday and I got enchiladas for £7 with sweet potato fries. The food was in a lovely sauce and was really tasty for such a good price

Having heard of this place for several weeks I decided to try it myself.. I wish I never bothered! Service was slow and painful with no one checking to see if our food was ok! The food itself is bland, average/poor. Overall poor service poor food just save your money go somewhere else local or Newcastle. Also I like to note all the excellent reviews on here are done by users with a single review probably from the restaurant itself!

Visited here on more than one occasion and I can't sing their praises enough. After being told to look at some of the reviews on here, I am in absolute shock as I have never had a bad experience in the multiple times myself and friends have been.

Went here with my girlfriend and was blown away with what I can say is the best Mexican iv ever had we were seated rather quickly my girlfriend had a french martini which was perfect then I had a pint of desparados. After we got food the waitress was very warm and welcoming helped my girlfriend with explaining some of the dishes on the menu after I ordered a 20oz steak which was cooked to perfection and the other half had a burrito soo full I couldn't even get desserts but I could smell the churros as the table beside got them and wanted some... Would definitely recommend to all

So ive eaten at tequila more than my own home. I love the lunch special and thinks it's great value for money but now i stick to the eveing menu as the prawns are amazing ! Definetly recommend! I came one time with a friend and told the staff it was his birthday. I ordered him a cocktail and all the staff came over with sombreros on a sparkler and sang him happy birthday. Service and food have always been spot on and ill probably be back again next week

Went to tequila with a bunch of mates - table of 6 at 7pm, service was perfect! We were seated straight away and promptly asked what we would like to drink - we had a mix of larger and cocktails - I went for the old fashioned and it was perfect! Then we placed our food orders - I went for the Caesar salad and oh my god it was to die for! Service was perfect and the staff were lovely- really chatty and held a good conversation which is a skill these days! Will certainly be back for more!!!!!

Went in with some family during lunch we had some coffees they were so good as good as Costa and Starbucks I love all the sunbraros doted around and the really friendly staff that always have big smiles I love that.

Not sure if my first review posted or not due to phone dying but in brief me and my partner visited twice in consequtive weeks once on a Saturday and once on a Sunday, service was fantastic and the staff were very polite,presentable and down to earth, the food was fantastic I had the 10oz steak which was cooked to absolute perfection the decor and general enviroment is vibrant welcoming and very authentic, upon speaking with the waiter we learned he has worked it various cocktail/restaurants establishments and his training certainly didn’t let him down as his mermaid cocktail was amazing and well presented which got a 10/10 approval from my partner. Well worth a visit exactly what sunderland needs:)

Food was brilliant... but... after 20 minutes our plates were still waiting to be taken away.had to go and find a member of staff to clear them away and ask for a dessert menu and more drinks.. pretty poor .. work in the industry myself..while the food was nice the service was appalling !

Visited tonight for the fourth time with my partner. Seated quickly, even had radiator turned on as I was so cold when entered restaurant. It was unusually quiet but we were seen to promptly by the lovely staff. Ordered drinks which arrived quickly and then Ordered from special menu 2 courses for £9.95, potato skins and nachos for starter which were both a considerable portion. Both of us opted for chicken fajitas. Cant go wrong for price!

Some friends visited us from Scarborough and when we entered we got seated right away. The décor is lovely, the food is tasty but the service was just ridiculous. We waited 30 minutes before someone came to take our drinks order, then waited at least 40 minutes to get two pints of desperados and two simple cocktails.

Visited with a group of friends mid afternoon, the restaurant was very quiet, good amount of staff, however the service was appalling. It took around 15 minutes for a member of staff to take our drinks order, we ordered 2 lemonades and 2 Coke’s, it took a further 15 minutes for the drinks to come over, of which were wrong and had an extra 2 drinks that we did not order. Considering there was only another 2 or 3 tables in, I don’t understand how the staff got this wrong, it took two members of staff to get 4 drinks right.

Visited for teatime bite to eat and frankly wish I hadn’t bothered.

Me and my boyfriend visited here last night for a last minute date night, we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in as the decor is great and seemed to be a nice change from the usual in Sunderland. We were sat down quite quick and were rushed to make a drink order after 3 different members of staff asked us consecutively. I ordered a cocktail which tasted great, this was served in a sharp chipped glass however they swapped this for me and remade the drink. It took 40 minutes to be asked what we would like to order even tho it wasnt busy by now. After ordering we were told we had been given the wrong menu and to order something else, which then took a further 15 minutes to order. The food came and was very dry and dissapointing, and had we not be super hungry at this we would not have ate this. We ordered more drinks and the waiter poured my glass of water over me, the table and my food; sniggered as he ran off mumbling some sort of incoherent apology. My boyfriend collared the manager and explained this who who got the guy to apologise to me however this apology was the worst apology ever (a 2 year old would have been more sincere) and still I had to mop this up myself. They terrible service was blamed on them being busy however this shouldve been pre-empted with Gary Barlow being on and when we paid the manager came over with the card reader and admitted if he'd waited for his staff to take payment then we could be waiting ages. The manager did offer us the food at the lunch time rate as an apology and offered us free dessert which we declined, this was a very nice offer which I appreciate he didnt have to do however we would much rather have had decent service and the nice food we were expecting. We definitely won't be returning.

Went here for lunch today, a nice change from Pub grub for lunch. Was impressed with the decor first of all very colourful and thoughtfully done. Next the Staff, very good, polite, interested and attentive. Next the food, the three in our party all picked the same thing! The classic chichen chimichanga, a tortilla filled with chicken and rice, refried beans and jalapeños, fried till crispy and served with salsa and spicy fries. A really nice lunch. It left a little tingle in the mouth. Great deal at £7 each, although you could go for 2 courses at £9.95 or 3 for £12.95. Great selection of beers on tap or bottled. For first visit we were very impressed and would not hesitate to visit again.

We booked a cocktail tree for a surprise birthday treat. When we arrived none of the staff knew of our booking, even though we called to confirm the booking half an hour before we arrived. We where then told that we couldn’t have a cocktail tree as there was no time to make the ‘colours’ for the margaritas?? After the staff had a half hour fuss they offered to give us a tree of normal margaritas for the same price! The staff visibly showed that they could not be bothered to make our drinks for us, by sighing and tutting. They then took a further half hour to bring a small metal stand to the table. They brought the margaritas upstairs one at a time and spilt the first 2 drinks all over me and a friend and did not apologise. The staff member then shoved the drink at the birthday girl and told her to put it on the tree stand herself. The glass did not fit and continued to spill everywhere. They then left our party of 8 Waiting another half hour for the rest of the drinks to be brought upstairs. Considering this so called cocktail tree cost us £85 for 8 drinks. The quality of the drinks couldn’t be any lower. Whilst we had this long wait for the cocktail tree we had to buy another drink each, vodka and coke was £7 and it was the cheapest cola iv had in years-not even watered down Pepsi but literally a rola cola style drink. The wine was £5 for a small glass and really was the cheapest rubbish I have had in any bar. I was outraged at the service they gave us and will definitely not be returning. Have never experienced such bad service and quality. It won’t last long.

Birthday celebration with 10 friends, table was late to be ready but they gave us a complimentary drink for waiting which was great

The resurant is decorated beautifully. As a party of 8 we where asked to pre-order our meals ok no problem on arrival we where told our table was not ready yet so could we a go to the lounge upstairs, for pre meal drinks, very limited choice of drinks upstairs. Now when we went to our table which was empty when we passed to go upstairs downstairs had a good choice at the bar just seems a ploy to get you to buy drinks upstairs which didn't have the choice as downstairs bar. We waited nearly an hour for our meals considering they where pre-order, we must have been asked 6 six times did we want more drinks , the meals where very below standard and small out of the eight meals the chicken Cesar salad was the best dish, What does that say? Unfortunately we wouldn't be back

8 of us ate here last night. Pre booked meals at restaurants request and paid deposit. Despite arriving 5 minutes early and our table appearing to be ready we were shown to upstairs bar. Waited half an hour to be seated. Half an hour later still no meals arrived despite them not being busy. 3 different staff members came to ask if we wanted more drinks within minutes of each other whilst we waited. One asked if we wanted to add anything to our order. Eventually meals came. Were they worth the wait? Must definitely not. Poor quality and small portion sizes. We were all still hungry afterwards. Also never been to a Mexican restaurant where they don’t give you complementary tortillas whilst you wait for the meal and they serve fries on the side. My advice - get yourself an Old El Paso kit and make your own Mexican meal. It would be far superior to this. I am not a picky eater and don’t complain usually but definitely won’t return here.

Popped in today as pleased to have more options in Sunderland now. My daughter enjoyed her fajitas but mu huevos rancheros breakfast was missing the avocado and consisted of two fried eggs on tortilla chips with a bit salsa, no refried beans or guacamole. Disappointing, will stick with El Nidos

First of all the service is excellent and so are the cocktails, my friend said it’s was the best cocktail she’d had in years. I ordered tiger prawns fajitas, the prawns and peppers were perfectly cooked and served on a hot plate. However they lacked the hot Mexican flavours and disappointing bland. The accompaniments resembled mass produced guacamole, sour cream and salsa, not at all fresh and had the distinct vinegar flavour of processed food. The rice also tasted like Uncle Bens Mexican rice. Unfortunately I like food to be authentic and so I was slightly disappointed.

We visited recently on a Friday lunch time and the place was fairly busy for this time in the day, there was a good atmosphere and the decor is lovely. We ate from the lunch time menu, and there was plenty of choice for lunch, at £7 for a main course at lunch it is reasonably priced as well.

I visited the restaurant with my boyfriend, food was good and the service was too. However the manager visited the toilet at the same time as my boyfriend, left the cubicle and didn’t wash his hands. This may seem like a petty comment to make, but hygiene standards should be at their highest in an establishment that serves food and this put me off my meal knowing that they were clearly very low. This would also put us off returning.

four of us went into Tequila Tequila for my wife's birthday. The chicken and steak fajitas are a must try. Really nice food with homemade guacamole and salsa. Management and staff are extremely helpful. Will definitely be returning again and again !!

Was looking forward to visiting here with my other half because we both love hot, strong flavoured foods. We went on 2nd April Bank hol Mon for lunch. The room is well laid out and well themed but I’m not sure about the scary pics hung around the place! The staff were friendly and attentive without fussing over us. I had chicken fajitas with a side of sweet pot fries and my fella chose the chicken chimichanga. My chicken arrived on a skillet on a bed of onions and peppers which looked lovely however the chicken was very dry, as though it had been pre-cooked and warmed up as required. There was no heat or spice at all so I added Tabasco sauce which was provided on the table. The sweet pot fries were too salty for me so my fella ate them. He too said his chimichanga was dry and the chicken filling over-cooked. We were so disappointed because we had high expectations from this new eatery. There were only around 20 customers so hard to understand how they can ever get it right when it’s a busy night? We won’t be visiting again but hope the chef addresses the issues regarding over-cooked dry chicken

Visited with my husband late Saturday afternoon. We first visited on the 2nd day of opening. All the staff gave us excellent service again from entering to leaving especially the young girls who served us. My husband had Caesar salad I had BBQ fajitas the flavours were delicious. We decided to try the desserts this time and we were not disappointed my husband had churro’s with toffee sauce and I had Pecan pie which were both full of flavour and delicious. I wanted a hot drink as it was a cold day and they served me a lovely large pot of tea.Again excellent all round couldn’t fault them.

Visited here on Sunday night with a group of friends. Service was excellent, the food was very tasty, bar service was quick and accurate. Will definitely visit again

Went on Sunday with 8 friends and by god we were impressed! From the minute we arrived we were really well looked after by the manger and all the staff ! This new venue has a great vibe so you cannot help yourself but to have a great night , we had gorgeous cocktails , shots and then the food arrived and to be honest it was all first class !

My husband and I went for a meal for the first time on Saturday night, we were greeted by friendly staff and taken to a table quickly, we hadn’t booked but it wasn’t busy (maybe due to the weather) we asked for a wine list but we were told there was only red, white or rose on offer, when we asked what kind they were we were told, Merlot, Chardonnay and rose, those are not the types of wine we drink so we opted for a cocktail each, a Margarita and a Long Island that were very nice, we ordered Fajitas and enchiladas for our meal very nice and generous portions, we would return again if we thought they may increase their wine list.

Visited on a very cold Saturday evening but plenty other people had ventured out so the atmosphere was lively. Staff friendly and polite from us entering the door. Will always be restricted on choice as a vegetarian but the flavours in every dish we tried were great. Good to be able to get a spicey soup on a cold night! Burrito with bean chilli was great, as were the fries and side of slaw. Vegetable fajitas were delicious and portions were very generous.

The food is outstanding, probably the best place I've been to for this type of food. Very good menu options will definitely be going back. Very good staff, highly recommended for all.

Called into this place last weekend and couldn't believe the transformation. Fantastic atmosphere Lovely lounge/pre food area, and a well laid out dining area Great to see places like this in Sunderland Will defo be back Tequila shots with cream and strawberry to die for!

In life you only get one go at a first impression and I wasn't impressed. Opening night and we waited 45 minutes for our starter and the place wasn't busy by any means. We did get a couple of Tequila shots for having to wait but another 5 minutes and we would have been out of there. As for Mexican style food? It's got to improve as the Chilli con carne was just a stew and I had to fire it up with chipotle Tabasco sauce, the chicken wings were OK as were the Prawns and the enchilada well I wasn't impressed but we will give it time to see how popular it gets and may give it another go but we now await another Mexican opening by the Fire station, I just hope they have hired a Mexican Chef?

4 of us went on a Sat evening, we had booked as the place was full.

Service was great very helpful and the food was fantastic. Good choice on the menu I must say. Will definitely be going back.

We visited on the Saturday afternoon it’s second day of opening. Decor is lovely and colourful. My husband had potatoes skin for starters and my son had nachos both really nice. I had fajitas plenty of filling and fresh sauces. My son had burger and fries my husband had enchilada and wedges all throughly enjoyed. There was some drilling going on for a short period of time upstairs. The owner came across and personally apologised for this and asked us how we found our food he then asked his team to take our drinks off our the bill.Which we found very respectful of him. We found this great as we no longer need to travel to Newcastle for Mexican food.
