Taste of China in West Lothian

Previously I gave this a 5 star but the lack of consistency means it's just above average. The menu is outdated- for example I asked to have the chowmein with the happy meal to which the lady on the phone said they don't do despite it being on their menu. The food has also been a hit or a miss depending on when or what you order. Old review- The meat was really fresh in the items we ordered and everything tasted delicious (we ordered crispy shredded beef and kung pao chicken)! The portions were generous and the prices very reasonable! Only slight improvement is that it would be nice to be able to order online for collection rather than over the phone. This will be our new regular Chinese takeaway.

Absolutely the best Chinese in westlothian. So tasty full of flavour, I would recommend the crispy shredded beef in honey chili sauce 😋 love speaking to the lovely Miranda on the phone, she's a wee doll who never fails to make me laugh

Curry was dreadful, absolute rubbish. Couldn't eat it, put it in the bin. Will not order again Had to do with a tomato sandwich.

This place is a hit or a miss, most of the time a miss. We ordered a munchy box and it was missing chicken balls, missing ribs and it tasted as if it was cooked twice everything was burnt and rock solid. The food is just very bad quality.

First time trying, lady on the phone was so kind and pleasant to chat with. Food arrived after 35 mins, we got beef and chicken curry fried rice and chips, curry is amazing not had a curry as good in years! Rice cooked to perfection and chips were so fresh food all nice and warm. Lady who also delivered was nice and pleasant too. Will be my go to Chinese now 100% Best in Livingston !!

Great food and generous portions

i got a take away on the 10 march for me and my dad . 2 to 3 hour after eating the chicken fried rice . i start feeling sick . so google food poisoning . i will not be going back again

The duck fried rice was sublime. The pork in barbecue sauce is an all-time family favourite. Yummy, creamy sweetcorn & chicken soup We're eating through the menu diligently, and liking everything. EDIT: I've been quite ill with a terribly nasty chest bug. Zero appetite, nausea, sore head...the works. I ordered crab & sweetcorn soup, but requested reduced salt, and spicy 🥵! Those aren't in the options, but they did it for me. It's my first meal in almost a week, and it did the job! Yum! As you can see from the photo, I relished it! Thank you!

After being recommend to us tried Taste of China tonight what a lovely meal arrived on time pleasant delivery driver and food was piping hot and delicious

I have seen some bad comments and it got me worrying but I was bored and hungry wanna try something new but the foods is very good it’s better than I expected and good potions they gave you a lots of foods and I love chicken chow mein and ham fried rice both of them are good and chicken balls too,good prices I might order more chicken chow mein from them next time it’s awesome

Was a regular customer until they closed before COVID, now decided to order a delivery from new menu 4.40pm 10th September order took over 1 hour to arrive although it was hot and plentiful the quality was not to our liking black bean beef was bland and chewy, chilli chicken was nice but slightly underdone, disappointed customer. Take away contacted me to apologize and offered a free meal next time I order from them, Apologies was accepted.

Food is usually superb. Staff are friendly. Delivery is usually pretty quick also.

The special fried rice we got wasn't very good, The food tasted stale and the meat in the fried rice was to hard to chew down on, Even the chips tasted stale, We weren't impressed at all with our order last night.

Chicken curry rolls are to die for so good. Customer service from Myranda is top notch such a kind friendly woman 10/10 would recommend

Take away menu. Ordered a chicken cung po. It was awful. Cashew nuts were burnt(black in colour) and the sauce was a sweet and sour . Very bitter. My partner ordered a hot chicken curry. He liked his. I. Afraid I won't be ordering for me again.

Only giving 1 star to give review. Order beef curry for delivery on Saturday , (the only food I had eaten on Saturday). After eating the curry I was severely ill uncontrollable body shaking , vomiting and couldn't get off the toilet. Now Tuesday and I am still recovering. If I could give minus stars I would. Just letting the public know . (TRY AT YOUR OWN PERIL).

I'm hard to please, ask my partner, We go here alot usually the same 3 dishes repeatedly, even though we know the sauces are generic, but can't stop 😂, yeah it's greasy and salty, but there is some taste,

Everything tasted like oil. It was clear the oil hasn’t been changed as it was greasy and tasted kinda burnt.

Take too long to cook food just round the corner to my house I have been waiting for 2 hours

This is a fantastic place to eat only accepts cash payments though and only collection or delivery open from 4.30pm till 11pm. I have to add the portions are huge 😊

I been here years,but since 3weeks ago,the food quality was straight down,not as before,the rice not hot,the food was disgusting,no flavor on curry,phone up to complaints,been told management been changed,new management can’t speak English!so how u can serve customers without understanding!not recommended!!!!

You can tell how bad they didn't even respond to my complaint I guess they agree with me Stay away from this place I would give a* if there was an option worst place ever and their attitude when I phoned them disgusting I ordered chicken saty on the skewers and fried rice when got home no saty sauce apparently doesn't come with saty sauce ( how can it be chicken saty if no saty sauce) Every other Chinese I had come with sauce this the first time ordered from here and will be the last time

Been a loyal customer here for years and always will be! Massive portions, always fast service and always hot food. Staff are lovely also. Can not fault at all.

My son's birthday he wants a night in with the family so take away it is. Thought we'd give them a try BIG mistake. Ordered chicken SATAY on skewers, meaning chicken on skewers with satay sauce, it's in the name lol, well apparently not for Taste of China as they give u chicken on skewers but no satay sauce. Hubby phones them to be told they've always sold the sauce separate never had that at any other Chinese we be ever went to but ad if that wasn't bad enough the attitude my husband was faced when he phoned to question was terrible. They just don't care they've got your money that's all they care about. I still had a curry, it went in the bin, chicken was chewy and the sauce tasted burnt, needless to say 20 quid in the bin and lesson learnt avoid like the plague
