Tarantino in Brentwood

Visited on Friday evening with friends. We booked a table for 5. On arrival we were given the choice of 2 tables which were both for 4 people. We chose what seemed the area less cramped and they added an extra chair on the end of our table. Ordered food and drink. I had the antipasti and my friends had mussels. The meats looked very pretty but they were dry and hard. The mussels were slimy and sauce was watery and no flavour. Steak was bland, lamb cutlets were ordered medium these were overcooked. Sea bass was flavourless and not fresh fish. Waitress brought the bill at the end of meal and asked if we enjoyed. We said not really. She said she had never had these complaints before and stormed off! If you don’t want feedback then you shouldn’t ask. If you want a gorgeous home cooked Italian meal visit Ciao Bella in Romford. Service fabulous, food divine and wonderful atmosphere. Followed by a complimentary limoncello.

This place used to be great, but after deciding to try again after many years, it has gone downhill. we won't be returning. service was terrible, no atmosphere in the restaurant. and the food, which I felt the restaurant was renowned for, was awful. the fish you can tell was from frozen and not fresh, and one of my friends had the steak which was such poor quality. the sauces that accompanied our food gave no flavour and you can tell that the chef has lost his passion

Such a friendly restaurant, with delicious food. Our family were made very welcome (grandparents, and two children). The food and wine was wonderful. Will definitely be returning soon!

The portions were very generous and food was great. I loved my dish option. Had prawn salad, risotto al mare and tiramisu. We will definitely go back there.

Have been going to Tarantino's for well over 20 years but hadn't been in a few years. Was very pleasantly surprised, not only by the food but also the service. The food is amazing and very generous portions.

Have visited Tarantino a few times over the years and it has always been a firm place for a bowl of pasta or pizza, went early June on a Friday evening with the family and have to say it was very average, I had pasta and my wife fish (cannot remember which one) and it just wasn't that good, I have had better there in the past. The waiter did not say anything when he cleared the plates even though we left most of our dinner. Would I return? yes as in the past it has been good.

I came here with my wife for Valentine’s Day, was excellent service and the food was excellent and out of this world. I will be back again and have recommended to my friends and family, thank you Tarantino what a great experience

Fabulous restaurant Antonio and Magda are wonderfully welcoming and give wonderful service and the food is always delicious.

Had a lovely meal here with family. Our first visit, and were not disappointed. The food...wow, really lovely. The lobster ravioli was delicious. That sauce is divine. Pizzas just like we have had in Amalfi a few years ago. This is traditional and personal, not like Prezzo etc. If you have not been yet, you really need to! It would be an easy 5 star, but it took a while to get service between courses and for the bill. Maybe they expect to be beckoned, but I feel rude doing that. Wonderful treat, do not miss this place.

What a lovely evening. We went to celebrate a birthday, and were made to feel very special and well-looked-after, even though they didn’t know we were celebrating! The food was incredible, so much choice (we’ll have to go back to try more options!) - highly recommend the bacon-wrapped scallops and the limoncello! The service was truly wonderful. So friendly and very sweet. Can’t wait to go again!

I have to say what a great little restaurant. We have been meaning to try it for years . I went last night with friends, Omg what a find . Absolutely amazing the atmosphere was just great , the food was Amazing . I had the Belly pork from the specials board. . Omg it was massive . . What I couldn’t finish I took home with me & they were happy to put it in a container & a bag for me to take home . Just fabulous from start to finish . Very friendly & welcoming. They couldn’t do enough for us plus it was a busy night . Well worth a visit . Definitely will be back . . Thank you

A lovely lunch for my friend and I. Delicious food and very polite service. Tarantino remains my favourite Italian restaurant.

They have the deal 2 courses for £16 and when i asked the server if that’s mean a full course starter plus main each he said YES , he also explain “ starter starter- main main “ . We was 2 of us . When the bill came up i had the suprise to be charged 2x£16 . The starter was delicious we really enjoy it, but the main it was really bad as we didn’t eat it . We didn’t complain about the food because we thought for £16 it is ok . But for £32 not really . The bruschetta it was a small peace of Bread cut it in 2, not generous at all . The Caesar salad it was really discusting and the crutouns it was full of oil !!!! Pollo ala milanese it was 3/5 , the chicken very oily also . I WILL NEVER CAME BACK !!

Visited with a group of friends and we had a pleasant evening. Felt compelled to write a review though as the food was very average. My salad was literally a huge pile of iceberg lettuce, 2 slices of cucumber, 3 slices of tomato, a handful of pine nuts and some feta. For £11.50 this is very poor value and really quite stingy. I do hope this feedback does not meet with the usual defensive response. It genuinely was very poor and I hope the restaurant uses this as an opportunity to improve.

There are so many things wrong with this restaurant. Firstly, whoever I spoke with to arrange the booking was extremely rude. He practically blamed me for not understanding my telephone number or being able to hear very well over the noise in the restaurant. The service was not the best. One waiter is extremely sleazy. Leans in too close & even called one of us ‘ blondie’. The pizza that was supposed to be topped with basil was served with a pathetic scrap of rocket. They initially pretended this was basil until we demanded it to be returned to the kitchen. Only then did they admit it wasn’t basil. All food was pretty average & I spent the following day on the toilet with a really upset stomach. This place needs new management & complete overhaul.

Lovely “proper” Italian restaurant. Celebrated a 14th birthday there last evening, the food was delicious and freshly cooked, service was friendly and helpful. Recommend for a birthday celebration as the staff brought out a birthday pudding and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to my slightly embarrassed granddaughter!

I went to this lovely little restaurant with my daughter and a friend. Good variety of food on offer and reasonably priced especially in this day and age. All cooked to perfection and the most delicious homemade desserts was difficult to pick one. Definitely would go again.

Tarantinos Brentwood excelled themselves - had lunch with the family - 18 of us - couldn’t have been more helpful if they tried - food and service 1st class - looked after us for the whole time we were there and nothing was too much trouble - highly recommend a visit to this family run Italian restaurant

What a great place for a casual Italian meal! My partner and I had heard about this little restaurant from friends, so as we were in the local area, we called in for a late afternoon meal. So good! Excellent service and the menu was superb. We only wanted a light meal; my partner needed a gluden free option but we both had penne. SO tasty and excellent value! We'll certainly be back!!

Such a gem amongst the big chain restaurants in Brentwood (Essex) Have been here several times over the last 12 months. We love it the food is fantastic the staff are so accommodating, friendly and welcoming. My dad who is 84 loves it as they always accommodate his likes ♥️. And the recommendations of wanting to try something new hits the spot every time. So welcoming and it has quickly become our favourite place to eat in brentwood. Little Italy on our door step. It’s a must for Italian foodies. I dare anyone not to say they won’t go back!

Below average family-run Italian. With very poor service. I have eaten at many different Italians restaurants around the country and I must of caught the staff at this one on a bad day. They were very rude and not welcoming. But I'm willing to give them a second chance in the new year hopefully.

Slightly below average family-run Italian. The pizza dough is thick and does not resemble anything you would actually eat in Italy. They are fortunate that there aren’t a better range of Italians available locally so the standard isn’t great in Brentwood. I have eaten here about 5 times in 3 years and have not had a good meal - I wonder whether the quality was better in the past, hence why locals score it favourably on tripadvisor. That being said, there are better options locally.

There was no question of where to go for our last meal out before lockdown.It had to be tarantinosWe arrived at just after 4.15 to the usual warm welcome. There was one other family party in the restaurant but it soon filled up.all the tables were spotless as usual, I find it very hard to believe the reviewer who said they were shown to the only dirty table.We have been visiting tarantinos for nearly twenty years and have NEVER been given a dirty table.They were expecting a busy evening with three sittings at our table but we didn't feel hurried. The food, bruschetta, vegetable soup, liver and vitello alla crema et funghi were delicious as usual. The liver was cooked to my husband's exactspecification.Olives appeared at the table without being asked or charged. Bread sticks were back Glad to see that their perfectly laundered cloth napkins were back. There was a notice explaining exactly how they were washedTotally covid-19 safe and wonderful authentic Italian food as ever.I'm delighted that they will be open for takeaways during lockdown

When you’ve pre booked a table and there’s only 1 couple in the restaurant at 16:30, you don’t expect to be placed on the only ‘non ready’ dirty table with chips all over the floor. Then, when ask to change table they tell you, that you only have an hour and a half before they need the table back because they are booked up from 6pm. When we left the whole of upstairs was still empty and they made a table of 4 wait for 10 minutes next to an empty table of 4 (downstairs) because they had ‘allocated’ them our table, which she then sat them on as we hadn’t finished our drinks. So one rushed late lunch, no time for dessert and rather than apologise, kept trying to justify their wrong doing - which made no sense at all, which before they respond, was why my friend was so rude. We wouldn’t have been so angry, but a party walked in during our meal, who within ears reach said that they had called up 5 mins prior and were given a table with no time curfew and when questioned, we were told ‘oh, they’re regulars’. I guess this just epitomises independently run businesses, who rather than go by the phrase ‘the customer is always right’, it would appear that they don’t really care about customer service as if a party slightly infringes on their table plan, they are unwilling to cater be flexible. When we left, it was busier, but only 7 tables were occupied and no party of 4 was their waiting to claim our table ??? I am a huge foodie and love to eat out and I’m not one to complain, but I’m sorry, it needed to be said.

I have been visiting Tarantino for the past 7 years. Their food is second to none and have a lovely selecting of wines to accompany. The staff are very friendly, helpful and take great care to cater to specific dietary needs if necessary. I tend to take several of my guests and they are always impressed with their food and professionalism. Although Tarantino was shut during the COVID lockdown (only doing deliveries), they have made a great comeback implementing excellent protocols and procedures in place and are always adapting to the changing government guidelines reducing social distancing and all. I went there a few weeks ago and felt very safe. I had not made a reservation and being a popular place I wasn’t sure if I would get a table. The lady who greeted us (Sarah) was very polite and advised us to return a little later as they were limiting the number if people in the restaurant. There were hand sanitisers provided at the entrance and around the restaurant. The tables were spaced out to maintain a good social distance and the staff were also ensuring that they were following he social distancing protocols. I could not fault them. The food was superb as always. I definitely recommend a visit to this lovely restaurant.

We first visited Tarantinos in January 2018 and, since moving to Brentwood, visit regularly. The staff are great, the food is incredible and the atmosphere is so relaxed it almost feels like you’re in a friends house enjoying a meal! We bring everyone that visits us to Tarantinos- friends, parents, family, couples, larger groups- and they all agree it’s a hidden gem off the Brentwood High Street that they want to go back to when they next visit.Thank you to all the Tarantinos team for making every visit special.

Myself & My Husband have been regular visitors for years to Tarantino Brentwood . Service is outstanding and so friendly always , food is delightful I have tried everything on the menu! We have taken many friends and held big parties in this restaurant many times nothing has ever been too much trouble and the service always outstanding. During this difficult time all the staff have gone to great lengths to comply with regulations and made sufficient measures to manage the risk of COVID-19 for the Health and the Safety of not only themselves but all others. The Staff are so friendly and helpful, yet professional and caring. The food is always delicious and the house wine is very good!! The layout of the restaurant is arranged to cater for social distancing and there is sanitiser and paper towels at the entrance for everyone's safety.Yet another perfect evening. We have been going to the restaurant as a family almost 20 years. Even had my son's christening party there. The food and atmosphere is always great and attentiveness of the staff is second to none. On our most recent trip the food, and atmosphere were as lovely as ever but what really impressed me was how the always fantastic staff had really adapted to the Covid restrictions. Lots of room for social distancing. Felt very safe and happy. Thank you Sara and everyone at Tarantinos for another lovely night.

Had dinner last Fri at Tarantino with friends their first time here. We had a wonderful meal The food and service as always was excellent as were the staff but that's the norm ! There’s no social distancing going on in here! Table next to me could’ve been on my lap. The woman answering the phone was literally behind me so close I could feel her breathing on my neck and the waitress was passing drinks over the banister from behind leaning over us. The service was terribly slow they say they need the table back in two hours but two hours later we’ve not been offered dessert...... took her half hour to place initial food order!!! Salads are terrible, pastas and meats are good. There are better places to go than this.

What a fantastic lockdown takeaway!!The takeaway was hot and tasted just as if we were dining in, even the green salad was just the same!We have been regulars for years and enjoy sharing the authentic food with our young son.

We love Tarantino’s and we’re so happy they now offer a takeaway service. Ordered food to be delivered. The food arrived in the pre arranged time slot and it was just as good as eating in the restaurant, extremely good value too, we will definitely order again until we can go back and eat. Four of us ate here and it was really good food., one of the best Italian restaurants. Would defiantly return without doubt. Only let down by the adding of 10% service charge which the menu states is for 6 or more diners. I challenged this and was told it was because of the "live music provided". The singer was good, but it would have been just as enjoyable with some background music. The charge was removed and I tipped the waitress instead. Also the chairs became really uncomfortable by the end of the meal, and we were all glad of a stretch.

Went here for a family birthday meet up, 10 of us aged between 16 & 69, 3 of our party are vegetarians. Brentwood being a central area to meet up. The restaurant was busy, the service was excellent & friendly, our food requirements were served up exactly as ordered, prompt but with no feeling of being rushed. Really good food, really good service, really good atmosphere. Excellent.

My friends and I celebrate our birthdays at this restaurant and also had Christmas Lunch there last year. We enjoyed it so much that we couldn't wait to repeat the experience this year. Today we again had a lovely 3 course meal from the set price Christmas menu. Generous portions and attractive presentation of the food, together with friendly attentive staff, made this a get - together that we all agreed was a great start to Christmas for us.

I come to tarantino’s because it’s a restaurant I find it easy to relax enjoy my good food and be well looked after, they have a beautiful bottle of Amarone on their wine list and their ribeye was perfect, it’s not fancy dining but it’s genuinely good food, good wine and great service, I will continue to return
