Tak Bo in Flintshire

Tried a few times calling Tak bo phone engaged all the time they got my number no phone call saying there a problem

Got a take away tonight 25th January. Ordered sweet and sour pork balls (not IN sauce) with egg fried rice, firstly they got this meal wrong as they tried to give me the one in the sauce, when they corrected it it tasted bland and the pork "balls" were bits of chewy meat covered in a flour type coating, the sweet and sour sauce was watery, the curry sauce was watery, also got a Singapore chow mein which was bland and tasteless, there was hardly any meat in it except a couple of pieces of chicken and few prawns and definitely no spice to it. Everything we had was mushy and tasteless. Very disappointed as my partner has been going here since 1999 and always says its lovely. Don't know whats happened lately but considering going elsewhere from now on as its a waste of money when u just want a tasty takeaway.. total let down

It's the worst Chinese food I have ever experienced, did not even resemble Chinese, stick to cheese on toast at home

Fantastic Chinese take out in Holywell. The chicken and cashew was absolutely spot on, good rice (both boiled and egg fried) and the soup was beautiful. Staff really friendly and price decent

Food Straight In The Bin! Fried Rice was more like boiled! I specifically asked for no veg in the rice or curry yet to find peas in my fried rice, I absolutely hate peas. The mini spring rolls was like eating grease, curry wasn't too bad but without the rice, it's not worth eating. The rice was mushy! £17.80 and that's with a 50p service charge just for ordering. The lights were so dim I didn't know if it was open or not, the driver said they do it to save electricity, I said with a 50p service charge I would expect lights on! She replied, well you still keep coming back! This was my first time and definitely my last. Should of researched before throwing £17.80 down the drain for below poor food!

Ordered to Herons Lake. Really disappointed I never done my research and read previous reviews before I ordered. The crispy salt and pepper beef was bland. The beef was chewy and difficult to bite into. Chips also chewy. I just ate the noodles and curry sauce which were okay. Prawn crackers also chewy and seemed stale. In my opinion not worth ordering and waiting for. From previous comments I now see that they ask for you to call and they will exchange etc which is nice of them but it’s really not worth my time and effort waiting again for food that’s tasteless. Also may I add the food was not in an insulated bag as I met the delivery driver at reception and it was passed to be in a carrier bag from the passenger seat.

SALT AND PEPPER CHIPS! OH MY GOD! ORDER FROM HERE EVERY WEEK WITHOUT FAIL

Ordered on the ap it was late so phoned up was assured it was just around the corner 27 minutes later it turned up.Not what we ordered food very average in some parts like cardboard no flavour very bland.Very underwhelmed

Stayed at herons reach Holiday resort place a 75.00 order which was wrong ordered whole duck all the trimmings spicy box sweet and sour sauce, chips and gravy x 2 pork curry with boiled rice, special kung po Singapore fried rice. Lady on the phone even though I speak perfect English had to repeat the order 5 times and repeated all bacl to me. Order came 1 hr 40 mins later with no Singapore fried rice. When called got told I wasn't a priority I work as a delivery driver when I or the restaurant make a mistake it goes out straight away. Got told could be up to 2 hours. By a ride guy with a manc accent. Won't ever order again don't recommend ever!!!!!

Phoned my order in around 5:30pm, meal arrived at 7:50 pm! We were ready to cancel the meal altogether and wish we had! When it arrived it was only just warm, the chips we had were like rubber( definitely been warmed up) and the chicken foo yung was so greasy and had no taste whatsoever! First and last meal we will order from here ! In reply to your reply I was definitely told that my order would be delivered between 6:30 and 7pm! , at the latest ! No mention of 7:30 at all. when the delivery arrived I went to look in the bag to see if the food was still hot but was told by the man that it will be hot as it’s in containers that keep the food hot! No, not true! The food was warm! The chips which were in paper bags were only warm in the middle, the outside ones were cold, I would have refused the delivery if I had inspected the food closer and not taken the word of the delivery man

In my opinion, this is the best Chinese take away in town. A little bit more expensive maybe, but you get what you pay for. Reliable, dependable, well cooked, tasty and popular with local people. The staff are excellent and efficient. It's worth visiting to meet the super efficient and super polite guy with super fast calculator fingers! Parking can be tricky, but it seems that their delivery service is very popular.

Lovely tasty hot food, was worth the wait and thoroughly enjoyed it!

We've travelled here for a few days break and had a take away from here last night. Have to say it was absolutely amazing and faultless. We go back home on Friday but will certainly have another meal from here before we return!

Staff are very friendly and efficient. I ordered special fried rice and a carton of extra hot curry sauce. Its was delicious plenty of it and it was still roasting hot when I got it home.. I will definitely be going back..

Had sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style but found it far too salty. That made it not nice.

Lovely, first time here, ordered a Chinese meal, was so tasty and was ready on time for when we arrived. Got loads of food. Good value for money. The curry was sooo nice. Would come back here again.

I put a great review on facebook as our first timers. So we ordered today. It was terrible the starters of spicy box was all put in together with chips it was so hard to divide between two of us it was extremely salty and cold chips there was no meat on the small chunks of ribs. The separate spring roll was bland looked like just bean shoots. The main course was lots of meat sliced on top of the special chow mein very chewy meat we did not enjoy and won't be returning... so disappointed 😞

Well where to start by far the worse ever thing I’ve ever bought I added a picture of what it was like!! It was vile food what made me feel I’ll the next day this must of been left overs from god knows how long ago I tried ringing the place before I wrote this review but here goes by far the worse food I’ve attempted to eat dried up cement rice with no taste looked like boiled white rice to me with the smallest tray of chips squashed up in a tiny tray and I’ve saved the best for last is the chicken balls what are earth are they more like shredded chicken batter they were vile I wouldn’t even give them a star if I didn’t have to plastic bag was the best thing I received!!!

Excellent take away the meal was truly scrummy crispy chicken and the prawn dish was amazing. We ordered today for the first time.

2 hour wait for tiny ribs, soggy spring rolls and inedible main. The spicy box was overpriced, made up of mainly chips and the ribs were so small they could only have come from a budgie. The crispy chicken in Chinese sauce should be renamed crispy chicken in HP Brown sauce as the taste was identical. Salt and pepper chicken was tasteless and the chips were soggy - flavourless mush. Over £50 for an extremely disappointing meal. Didn't bother to complain as after a 2 hour wait we didn't fancy waiting another 2 hours for a replacement. Would definitely not recommend. Very poor meal.

Poor customer service, long waiting times. Was told 15 mins, to have to wait 45 at the counter. Over cooked rice, barely a trace of egg, and little evidence of being fried neither. Over cooked King Prawns were hard and chewy. Stale prawn crackers, cold chips. Very very poor for the sky rocketing prices they charge in comparison to the other two Chinese takeaways in town. If you want a decent and reasonably priced Chinese go to Fu House.

Went in friday the 20th 9.40pm asked chillie crispy beef well done, owner said all do the sauce separate. Meat didnt looked cooked no vegetables in the sauce. Chips and spring rolls over cooked. Asked for crispy won tons, got small crispy chicken pieces in bread crumbs. Portions really small my special curry tasted like gravy and the meat, god knows what it was. And to expensive there, lot cheaper in the high street

Revolting dishes. So bad I am not going to try and complain I will just not go back. The chicken had viens in (pretty much every piece) and the one that didn't tasted like turkey. The 'sauces' were the same for 2 completely different dishes and were basically water with a bit of cornflour and MSG. S&P chips had a few powdered spices and no actual chillies. They have always been an expensive one with the small portions but this is multiple steps too far.

Ordered a few times and food is lovely. Service really friendly and we only waited 10-15 minutes, but understand it does get really busy at the weekend. Really enjoyed the Crispy Shredded Chicken with Chilli in a Chinese Sauce. Far better than any other similar dish in a local takeaway. Prawn toast had nice amount of filling too. The Salt and Pepper ribs were battered and we prefer without batter, but just personal preference. Special Curry also great.

Absolutely disgusting, extremely overpriced. Spent nearly £50 there for over cooked food that isn’t even edible. A little container of salt & pepper chicken is £7.30 that you can’t even eat! As you can see in the photos you can pull the lot of salt & pepper chicken out with a fork. Re-heated chips as well 🤮 How they are even allowed to serve this is beyond me!

Telephone order for delivery took two hours to arrive, a large part of the order was missing but we didn't appear to be charged for it. The food which did arrive was of a good standard apart from the ribs and chicken wings which were very dry. Had everything turned up, complete, in a timely fashion and if the ribs/wings hadn't been dry, I'd have been happy rating the place a solid 4 stars. Edit after owner response: My order wasn't over a weekend and we did not chase up the missing items due to waiting so long for the food. We were advised the food would be an hour and a half wait when ordering. Nothing about my review has been constructed out of any malice or intention to damage your business, the food which came was of a good standard. I have simply given an honest overview of my experience.

We try to get a dinner from Tak Bo at least once each month and we are never disappointed. The food is ready when they say it is and tasty - as I say in my title: the best in Holywell! Though we just get carry-away, the staff are always friendly and professional. While not cheap eats - you get what you pay for and the portions are good-sized. Their food keeps us coming back for more!

Me and my partner have sweet and sour Cantonese style it's amazing best I've ever had prawn toast and chips are delicious always go here always fast hot and deffo 5 star . Fresh tasty only place to eat from.

Delivery service was dire, the man on the phone was rude, my food was two hours late and after I rang for the 5th time he said the delivery driver rang me and I didnt answer. Considering I had full phone signal and there were no missed calls I find that hard to believe. Also I then got asked I if I wanted the cold food sitting in the hot box for half an hour to be redelivered... so to that my answer was no. You would at least expect them to offer to cook you it from fresh. Never again will I order from here.

I enjoy the proper Chinese feel to the food, me and my family enjoy grabbing a take-away every month as a great treat.

Totally amazing. Called through with big order, got everything spot on and ready in only 39 mins (we called up again to add to order and just as helpful) food tasted lovely, plenty to go around too.

We live way outside Holywell, so we’re delighted to find that the Tak Bo delivers to your door for a small charge. The dishes always arrive piping hot with a cheerful delivery man - and in the time promised. It’s good standard Chinese food and a great choice. Always good quality and no complaints whatsoever.

Asked for something in the meal which I did not get in two dishes and paid for it which is them stealing. Didn't get the extra portion of boiled rice not sure if i paid for that. The guy on the till wasnt very nice didn't like me checking the order very arrogant never going again. And the food just wasn't as normal cos it usually nicetasted like they went cheap on us very bad service food was bland very annoyed that I wasted twenty pound on two black Bean tofu 1 boiled rice 1 fried rice and salt and pepper chips

Food order came to £45.00 and was absolutely awful. Ordered fried rice and it was boiled came, called and complained and they were adamant that it was fried. The Salt & Pepper Chicken was dire. I have no comments for this, just take a look at the pictures. Literally fried, hard batter. No chicken in it whatsoever, not edible. Chicken & Sweetcorn soup was tasteless. Very disappointed.

new to the area. so was interested in the take away availability. This attempt of chinese was pritty grim. Prawn Chow Mein, Noodles, bean sprouts, onion and thats about it. Tastess Zero rating. Fried rice was a soggy mush. The only redeming factors was the sample was hot, and you cannot kill a prawn cracker. Lived in china for some time, so i do know what even british chiness should take of, and it was not there.. Sorry, first and last visit.

Have had delivered and picked up from store. Great food, great portions. Would recommend to anyone fancying decent takeout one night.

Not the best chinese in the area

Probably the nicest takeaway in the area!

We live about 3 miles away in Pentre Halkyn and often order a Chinese from the Tak Bo at a week-end. We have it delivered to our door, which is an excellent service. The staff are always cheerful and very efficient and always let you know if there will be a delay with your order at extremely busy times.

Food is always hot and consistently tastes as it should but watch out for the curry as sometimes its hot, sometimes its mild. The staff are always polite and friendly 👍. Food prices have not changed to much over the years so all good.

I ordered from here last night for the 1st time in a long time I always ordered from here and was Amazing but I ordered chicken and cashew nuts and fires rice. The rice tasted like the 1 you put in the microwave and the chicken and cashew nuts was disgusting couldn't eat it at all. My friend had beef curry and chips which was absolutely delicious.

Good food take away or delivery option available clean and hygieneic just had the special fried rice and special curry good big portions rice full of prawns and meat highly recommen both delivery was with in the hour at a very busy time thanks guys great food.

Had takeaway for wife and myself 1) King prawn spring onion and ginger very poor very little ginger and spring onion also source insipid.2)King prawn curry prawns like bullet's over cooked and curry source like gravy no colour or taste will not be returning.

The food is second to none as I have been eating from here for the past 5 years, and always had great food! And even better service! It's a family run business and everyone is so friendly and kind, my favourite is the salt and pepper chips!

I went here about a week ago. Lovely and friendly service, short waiting time for order and everything I ordered was there. Delightful food! Extremely tasty. Nice waiting area and restaurant but could have more comfier seats in waiting area. Not that uncomfortable though. Good Chinese, I recommend it!

King prawn Chow Mein is fabulous if just a little on the expensive side.

Way too expensive for the quality. The food was awful, the noodles were bone dry and the beef tasted strongly of vinegar.

Great food, a little pricey, got told a price on the phone, so i got exact cash ready, when it arrived the delivery guy said it was quite a bit more, this happens when i get delivery's from here, the delivery guys rip you off. Best off collecting

As a treat we order a take away from tak bo in the past they have been lovely and well worth the money (as can be a bit more in price then any other Chinese ) so after Christmas as no one likes to cook...

I would give this place a 3.5 but Google only has whole numbers. Some great meals here, but some distinctly average (especially for the price). The crispy beef was 80% crispy and 20% beef (seriously, it was just stale batter), and the salt and pepper chips tasted like they weren't fried prior to wok-cooking so they were a bit soggy. The rice was well done however, and their curry was nice (though the chicken tasted like reconstituted chicken rather than proper meat)

Saturday night and a tasty takeaway served quickly. Rang up and told it was 25mins, called to pick up 20mins later and it was ready.
