Was good value but now very small portions

The best value for money Chinese in the area by far. So many local places prices are sky high! Silver river offers great value, great flavour and fast delivery. Sometimes the fried rice can be claggy and not day old rice is my only gripe. Otherwise, stick with these and you can't lose.

What was supposed to be beef and spring onion had normal onion instead, something I can't digest. Honour House wins hands down in terms of quality, portion size, price and those extra prawn crackers. If it's closed go to Garden City but avoid this place unless you're desperate.

I've been ordering from here for years but lately the quality of the food has gone down hill

Tastey food at a good price..don't rob the customer and the food is considerably better than other chippies in the same area.

Had to wait two hours for food which arrived cold , even phoned them to be told was still in shop arrived half hr later , no apology just there busy , the service has gone terrible

Tried to order for delivery. When we said we were in Saughall, they said they don't deliver and hung up on us. We would have collected if given the chance but didn't get time to say this. Very rude so will be trying elsewhere.

Good luck on getting the right order because if you dare ring up and say anything you will be shouted at by a fowl women saying its your fault, you ordered wrong and there's nothing they will do about it. (out of three meals only one was right, my husband was with me too and heard what I ordered) Will not go there again, errors happen but to be shouted at and told it's my own fault is disgusting. Please dont waste your money, I know I won't.

Possibly worst chippy I have ever had. Chips were not fresh hard when eating especially at the edges. Gravy tasteless. Not one to waste but straight in the bin! Shame the lady serving was friendly though

Not been here for nearly 3 years but thought give it a try while in Queensferry Jesus now i know why i didnt go back for so long.Had the chicken chow mein tonight & other half chicken curry was like something the dog had brought up & the noodles like i remember last time tasted burnt.Chips to break your teeth on & the curry just warm So guess its a no return ever now.Always found the staff polite but thats no good when the food is awful

Always a good experience; either ordering in person or on the telephone. Order is always accurate, server is always competent. Food is always hot and delicious, collected or delivered to my home. Prices are also reasonable.

The crispy shredded chicken and noodles are so unseasoned. Had to throw everything away, waste of money and I would avoid this place.

Ordered a take out for a pre Valentine evening. After 3 chase up calls asking where it was we were told they were busy. . 2.5 hours later it arrived , stone cold and stinking We called them straight away to tell them and they were absolutely irate They Sent someone back out to us, no apologies demanding the food back! They expected us to pull it back out of the found recycling bin?? 🤢 no chance, recycling mngimg food?. 🤔🤔Thanks for ruining a lovely planned evening - won’t ever be using them again!

Ordered a takeaway and the food was inedible, been getting food from here for over 15 years and never had a takeaway so bad, the food tasted like smoke, maybe cooked with burnt oil, called them to complain and was offered 30% discount, not good enough as I will never order again

Waited an hour and half for delivery and when it came the portions were half full. Singapore noodles only had beef and no other meat like other take aways and crispy chilli chicken sauce was just vinegar and sugar... Wouldn't recommend.

They've changed the curry sauce....how dare you ...okay though.

I've used this chip shop for 18+ years. It has gone so downhill the food is so oily. We had salt and pepper chips that were drowning in garlic, oil and tasted sweet. Sausages undercooked still pink all the way through glad I stopped my toddler from eating it! Rice was oily and cold. Gravy and curry sauce super super thick. 👎🏿👎🏿 Will gladly be going down the road to a much better chinese takeaway. **Edit. All family members have very upset tummy's today.

We love Silver River. Is well worth the half hour journey there and back, and the food is still hot when we get back as it is packaged so well. Gorgeous food at great prices. Can't recommend highly enough!

I order Silver River often and find it overall okay, however my family decided to order a Chinese and I found a HAIR in my Chinese, a long black one. The chips were also raw, Chinese dry and prawn crackers stale! We phoned and complained and the response was “well I’ve had no other complaints” and the complete wrong attitude with no apology - the meal cost £23 and was disgusting, won’t be ordering again.

Told an hour for delivery, waited an hour and three quarters. Have a mouthful from the lady on the phone about the car breaking down. Then told it will be another 30 mins.

We had friends over during the Christmas period from down south. Ordered a ruck of food between 7 of us for under £40. Our friends couldn't believe the quality and amount of food we got for that price. It was delivered within 30 minutes of placing order. Hot, fresh and delicious. Can't fault these guys, food is superb. Definitely recommended!

This is our favourite weekly treat! The Salt & Pepper chicken Appetizer is incredible... Paired with the noodles and beansprouts. Service is always very very good and the prices are incredible. Friends of mine in Chester/Wirral are jealous we can get such good food so cheap!

We order from here quite often. Mainly for home delivey. Always hot food and the order is never wrong. They are quick. Never longer than half hour. We treat ourselves to a silver river in work for lunch sometimes. Lunch time menu is cheap with plenty of choice. Would recommend.

Had the BBQ spare ribs as a starter , four delicious fried rice & special chow mein As a main meal , all the Meat was tough , The rice was stodgy & the chow mein smelt & tasted burnt , Did phone to complain but got nowhere . The total meal was in one word DISGUSTING .

We had not been to this take away for a few years but my wife and I were passing and thought we will try a curry, rice and chips - should be ok from an established Chinese take away we thought- The chips were freshly cooked and mixed with chips from 1976 -the rice was ok - the curry was sliced warmed up chicken that looked like it came out of a packet, then some bland white curry sauce put on it. The main reason for writing this is because this was the most tasteless curry I have ever tasted and if people read this looking to go here for a slightly spicy curry forget it.

Had a Chinese from here last night and it was a total disappointment. Nice food, but not enough of it. The portions were tiny. I feel ripped off in comparison to so many in the area. The restaurant maybe better but never again from me.

Ordered a beef chow mein no veg no beansprouts to get home to what looks like 'slop' chicken, beef lots of veg beansprouts and any other concoction they have thrown in. In the bin it goes! Fuming!!! Isn't the first time either!!

I have been going to the silver river since I was a little girl. I have always been given great service and any special requests I've had they have always accommodated. The food is tasty. The gravy is amazing. All round great place. would highly recommend

Staff rude and unhelpful, even when young female customers are accosted by a group of male travellers and intimidated in front of them in the shop, staff did not step in to help. When asked why, they replied " she not ask for help". Staff then denied to the police that any incident ever took place. Not the safest place to go and buy food which is tastless and a waste of money...

Had their set meal for one - great value. Would highly recommend the Satay Chicken, the best I have ever tasted. Rice could have slightly better seasoned, but eatable none the less. Wish our Local Takeaway was as good as this one. I have used them in the past and they were good then.

Called in last night to order a meal for 4 people which was 1 starter, 4 main meals, 3 fried rice, portion of curry, chips and it came to less than £26.00

The staff at Silver River can be so rude and they bicker between themselves in Chinese (you can tell from the facial expressions). Have some class and bicker in the back, not in front of your customers. Meals aren't amazing either.

This place is always busy and does a great trade, food is always fresh, served hot and good value for money.

Sampled some great Chinese food from Silver River while staying away with family over the Festive Season.Placed a large order for home delivery on a busy New Year's Eve, but food arrived exactly on time Piping hot, plentiful portions, - really good tasty dishes. Very reasonably priced. Definitely the best Chinese meals we have had. Will sample again when next we are up north!
