This is a really nice experience, and the food was great. I would give it 6 stars for the food (the coconut ramen was exceptional). A bit on the expensive side, but the food and the atmosphere match the price.

A shame as the food quality is great This was overshadowed by the poor service and flies. We had a waitress that looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here. No manners, no hospitality. This is the second time we have been here and both times plagued by flies. Quite off putting when trying to tuck into the sushi. Food was of good quality however the service was shocking and unenjoyable.

Beautiful restaurant with incredible food and lovely staff. We went here for an impromptu date and had such a lovely time. The staff were super lovely, the food was stunning and delicious, great portions and really great choice. I had the vegetarian options and my fella had the meaty ones. This may be our new favourite spot!

If you're like me and avoid empty restaurants, don't be fooled by this one. Even if the front room looks empty, they have a second room full of guests. The sushi here is incredible - easily the best I've had in Manchester. Great mix of flavors, a good variety of rolls, and everything tastes fresh. Highly recommend from massive sushi lover. I'll definitely be back soon!

Our favourite place for sushi in Manny. No frills but the food is 10/10 and the chef is so friendly. Do not miss out on their 'Hairy Prawns'.

Allergens on their menu are labelled incorrectly. I tried to contact them about this on Facebook (they have no email address) and received no response.

Everything is so fresh. I had a Sashimi Platter, Nigiri Mix, Truffle Rainbow Roll, and Softshell crab temaki. Also, the dessert—matcha and white chocolate cheesecake—is my must-order for finishing. I have been to Sushi Marvel a few times when it used to be located in Ancoat. The waitress Phoebe was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place for Japanese food!

Trendy decor, very modern and innovative menu. Tried a wide selection of novel and comfort foods. Great presentation and service. I can see this as a very safe bet for families or couples looking for Japanese cuisine.

It was simply AMAZING! The food was so packed with flavour that's strikingly unforgettable. It's really harmonious, bold, and yet beautifully balanced. The service and ambience were really nice as well, which further accentuated the overall dining experience. Something unique worth highlighting is their summer-only special: COFFEE RAMEN!!! I tried this (one of the pictures with roasted coffee beans garnish) - although it sounded bizarre, strangely enough, it worked! I've brought some of my friends to try it as well, and we all agreed we would come here for the coffee ramen again. I personally have been here almost 10 times, so that says a lot about how good this place is, especially given that I'm quite the foodie and food critique at the same time! The chefs here really know how to balance the essential elements of flavour, fragrance, texture, colour, and more, to create true culinary magic. Would 100% recommend!

Popped in for lunch with a friend and had the sushi set menu. It was great, made fresh, really tasty and great presentation. The chef decided that he wasn't happy with the tuna (which my uncultured tongue was absolutely fine with) and so they gave me some pieces of salmon sushi on the house to make up for it. I couldn't believe it, such an act of kindness. I will obviously be returning.

Sushi and sashimi were delicious. Good value of the lunch menu, although the portion was rather small. Nice decor but we barely received any service.

We came here for my birthday, and the food was really good! The waitress was kind enough to tell us when she thought we were ordering too much at once. The sushi seemed fresh, and the mains were all very tasty. The prices are in line with Manchester standards.

I tried the A5 wagyu dish it’s real and it melts in your mouth. I tried an other dish with salmon it’s so delicious loved it. The staff was so kind and friendly. And the place was beautiful

This place is by far the best sushi restaurant in Manchester. Every dish was beautiful and tasted amazing. The ambience of the place is lovely and we truly enjoyed our meals here. I would recommend the panko cheesy oysters and the volcano uramaki roll. This is my go to place every time I crave sushi!

This place is a hidden gem in the city centre, independent family run restaurant. serving amazing sushi and gyoza among other delicious rice dishes. Great value for money. Personal warm service with a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Not the quickest or perfect of services but the food was delicious! I felt it's a much underrated restaurant compared to higher profiled pretentious ones with fancy bars. But for me it's all about the food. We've been twice and both times the food was fantastic. We would go again . Love all the premium rolls 😁

Really baby friendly, they have highchairs and baby changing facilities and it's easy to go in and sit downstairs with a buggy (most tables are upstairs but there was plenty of space for us) and it was fairly quite and relaxed on a Saturday lunchtime. Staff were friendly too! And the fish was lovely and fresh

Absolutely stunning sushi! The dishes are full of flavour and delicious. I had the truffle rainbow roll and the presentation and flavour outstanding. The wakame salad and miso soup were so good as well. Top it off with a stunning glass of sake. Decor, ambiance and atmosphere are great as well. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this place

Highly recommend to get to this place shortly after reopening at 17:30. It's nice and quiet and you might be the only customers for quite a while. About the sushi - exquisite! Absolutely wonderful experience. Everything is prepared with highest attention to detail. Taste is excellent. In the pics you can see the A5 Wagyu nigiri for £18. If you can afford it, you will be in for a treat! It smelled and tasted deliciously leaving the wonderful aftertaste in your mouth for some time. Highly recommend this place, definitely will be back someday.

Great sushi! The spicy premium sushi rolls with crab meat were great! We also tried the salmon avocado sushi rolls and the king prawn sushi rolls. All of them really good. We had 24 sushi rolls (from the 3 dishes) and I was say this is more than enough for 2 people.

Had Lunch Set A which was beautifully presented and delicious. Also added on some Otoro which is hard to come by in Manchester - a lovely addition. Would definitely return to try the rest of their menu. The decor in Sushi Marvel is great - a very nice place for lunch.

Great Japanese food and really nice relaxing atmosphere amongst the staff. Great choice of good quality veggie and vegan Tofu dishes. Only improvement I would recommend is that it really could be table service rather than ordering at the till...slightly cheapens the experience of visiting such a nice looking restaurant 👍🏻

Delicious maki rolls - highly recommend the Tiger and Volcano - and super tasty ramen - that broth! 👌🏻 A bit pricey compared to other places that do Japanese food of a similar quality, and possibly the reason we were the only diners on a Sunday night.

We've been coming back regularly up until 2020, tonight we were back and picked the Christmas menu. Once more we were not disappointed! The food is absolutely amazing, perfectly balanced, tasty and curated to the most minute detail! Every bite is flavourful and delightful, the atmosphere is amazing, the ambient perfect and the friendliness of the staff is on a level of their own! The owner remembered us from back when we used to be regulars, we moved further away but we were more than glad to take the trip to enjoy their delicious food and welcoming, cheerful company! Thank you again for a beautiful experience Sushi Marvel! Keep up the great work! You will definitely see us soon again!

Presentation was nice. However, the sushi rice did not have any flavor/taste. I had to remove it for sashimi style. The place was empty and there was no one who came to ask how everything was.

Fantastic Sushi Restaurant on Bridge Street, Manchester. We tried Sushi Marvel out for the first time today and absolutely loved it! This is exactly what we have been looking for and it is now on our doorstep!

@sushi_marvel have proper stepped their game up, we loved this place when it was a little six seater if ancoats, they moved over to bridge street to open a full on restaurant and boy the food is still as amazing but you can now also get noodle dishes and a host of other good eats and a plus for me is that they have full non alcoholic options gin vodka rum etc which is awesome, plus it is still run by the same awesome team so you get a really warm friendly welcome. There is no way we won’t be returning, great work guys you should be very proud.

Not a great experience! Generically "okay", but so many issues, many of which minor, that led to an overall "meh" experience. I've gone into detail below, as i believe a lot of the issues we experienced, were either a one-off or could be rectified to truly make this a leading restaurant in the area. Arrived on a Saturday night, to be seated at the central booth. Seating/Decor: Sadly, the next booth had some unruly children, whom grabbed the balloon decor and menus and threw them at the back of our groups head's, not appreciated... luckily they left within 10 mins of our arrival, but still, nothing was done by the staff. The table opposite their booth, we overhead saying they were glad when the unruly children left... staff need to be slightly more vigilant. The restaurant, (presumably because it's new), was exceptionally clean, and modern, with a slight "Japanese" flair. Very friendly atmosphere. Ordering: Ordering at the till is highly inconvenient, especially as a group. As when sat at the booth, you have to pass everyone else and be mindful to not bump into them or take up too much space as staff and other patrons want to get past, as well as taking up all the space at the bar, which just made us all feel we're in the way, so would have to go up individually in future, or in groups of 2 etc. It just seems odd. I, despite ordering at the same time as everyone else, ate my first dish 1 hour after ordering and when everyone else had finished all their dishes whom all came around 30-40 mins after ordering. While, being brought to the table when ready is a usual custom in Asian cuisine, an hour wait for the first dish, is unusual. The staff member who brought my first dish, did apologise for the long wait time, but nothing else was said or mentioned as to why it was so late. Staff: The staff are lovely, pleasant and smile-y, however, not well trained. Staff brought items to table and could not deliver to the right person, instead of saying "Tuna Sashimi" for example, they just say "Tuna". For those uneducated in Sushi, confusion may happen. We did get one apology (see above), otherwise, at no point did any staff engage with us except for ordering and payment. Upon leaving, they did not ask how our meal were, nor at any point check that all was okay, only giving the bill and putting a card machine in front of us. Food: Generically, "hit or miss". Everything is picturesque and some clear thought has gone into presentation and flavors, and can easily be taken photos of and posted on Instagram etc. However, for example, some of the Uramaki had too flavors which cancelled each other out. The Gyoza and Futomaki were excellent. One of our group had Takoyaki, which we frequently get in Manchester on a weekly basis, as it's a lunch time favorite. Here, 3 individual Takoyaki, all cooked to different times, one was overcooked, one was perfectly cooked, one was arguably under cooked. Two of the three, had no octopus in. We understand the argument, that in today's inflation hard hit world, with rising costs, savings must be made somewhere and maybe smaller octopus portions within the Takoyaki etc, but £7.50 is expensive for 3 Takoyaki, and not acceptable when 2 out 3 had no octopus in. Some of the sushi portions are smaller than expected but generally acceptable. Every one in the group had at least one dish served with ginger and wasabi, and we all agreed, it was very dry. Can only assume it's been left out for some while to dry out. In conclusion, i feel the great reviews "hyped" our group up for this new arrival in Bridge St, but overall, we all left unsatisfied, the prices are on the high side, and despite more than willing to pay these prices, especially with increasing prices everywhere, the food was not of a quality/quantity where it was worth the prices, in comparison to nearby Sushi offerings of price vs offerings. I truly wish management improve the various issues highlighted, and improve.

Disappointing! The ordering system needs reviewing as you are given the menus at your table and are asked to order food at the till. As we were a table of 4, it was really awkward waiting at the till for the group to order, and walking around all the tables. There isn't a lot of space between tables so I felt like I was bothering the middle ones. For the higher price point we thought this was not a great start. The staff doesn't really give any indication of how much food we should generally be ordering per person, so we started with 2 items each and thought we could go back to order later on, but they took our menus away so we decided not to and some left the restaurant hungry. Maybe some omakase or more platters (like the sashimi platter) with different types of items would have helped the choice. The food itself is just alright, the general consensus is "not the best sushi we've ever had". The rice was a bit dry and I thought some maki like the Purple Rain had interesting fillings, but a bit too many flavours at the same time which clashed and took away from the simplicity of sushi. One good thing was that the amount of fish in the maki was always quite good, as there were big chunks. Presentation was great and the plates were lovely but the portions are small and the waiting time is very long between items. One person of our table waited almost one hour for a plate of 2 tuna nigiri. All in all, we thought it was a bit "style over substance" which is a shame. We thought the higher price point was not really justified given our experience and so sadly we won't be back.

I ordered the Set A lunch deal, which came with a drink. I was surprised the rolls were actually quite big, I was expecting them smaller. I’m not normally a fan for Tuna but it was so fresh and melts in the mouth. The roll had a nice crunch of cucumber with the salmon and avocado and the salmon tasted good quality and fresh. Overall, good food and good service.

The quality of the food is very good. It always has been with Sushi Marvel, even when they only did takeaway. The service in their new location undermines the quality of the food. 1) They served our gunkan without bringing soy sauce, wasabi or ginger. They forgot. 2) They forgot an entire main. They just watched us be hungry for 30 minutes until I got up to ask for the missing food. Our server had mistakenly taken it to another table. 3) They served our cold iced sake cocktail in a warm sake bottle. I'm sure they'll adjust and we will be back, but in the meantime, I recommend ordering takeout.

I can’t believe this place is finally open, it’s everything I expected it to be. The customer service is top notch, the environment is vibrant and calming, the food is absolutely amazing. The upgrade from the last place is worth every penny I must say. Everything has just changed and it makes me feel very happy that they have come this far to make customers happy

Used to come here all the time at the old location as it was easy to park up. New location is much nicer but much harder to get to. The portions are smaller and the prices which were already high are even higher. Unfortunately won't be coming back.

Huge fan of both Ancoats and Chorlton branches before they closed. The sushi was reliably excellent and I always appreciated that shokudo-style atmosphere. Was sorry to see them go, but so pleased for the owner’s success and for them to be able to open up a larger restaurant in Manchester! The city centre is crying out for a reliable sushi restaurant. Visited the new restaurant for the first time two weeks ago on my birthday. Saturday night, expectations fairly high. The sushi is as good as ever and some familiar dishes have been elevated to new heights. The unagi nigiri and hairy prawns are divine! Sadly, the food was almost overshadowed by the service. It was just… so frustrating and… consuming?? I hate to sound overcritical - the staff were obviously new and still getting used to things - but first impressions count. The waiting staff (owner excluded) weren’t very inviting. Ok, fine, it’s whatever. More bizarre though, no table service. Seriously, why not?? Ordering at the counter might have worked in a shop with 6 seats, but you’re a restaurant now, serving 10 times as many people, with a menu almost exclusively made up of small plates. It is completely impractical, especially for larger tables during busy service. When I went to the counter to order, I counted SEVEN waiting staff. Throughout the course our meal they managed together to do the work of 2 or 3 people, but they mainly stood around doing nothing. Maybe one or two of them could be taking orders? Worth a thought! Staff spent little time engaging with customers at their tables and the atmosphere was a bit damp as a result. Another couple arrived as we ate. They were familiar with your old branches too and had a similar experience ordering at the counter as us. Just a bit baffled really. The prices have gone up noticeably too. Not unusual for Manchester these days, but two people should expect to feel satisfied after spending over £70 on sushi. Unfortunate, we didn’t. I don’t often write reviews. Had some time to reflect. This restaurant has so much potential. I hope this feedback is helpful as it is written with good intentions. I’m routing for you!

Yes, this is the place for sushi. But prices are on a high side. But the quality of sushi is definitely good. £83 for two people. PLS order their ottora nigiri!! Best sushi in Manchester. Red dragon uramaki is good as well. If you have the budget, go for wagyu nigiri as well. Anyway, recommend!!

A true gem! Book a table, go in and eat! It's very good! Must try: Hairy prawns, gyozas, otoro nigiris and Kyu gin with tonic. We loved everything we tried so feel free and let your taste buds have a good time.

I have been desperate to find amazing sushi in Manchester and this place is definitely in my number 1 spot. They serve so many different varieties of sushi but my fav is the spicy spider roll. The staff are also incredibly friendly and really go out of their way to accommodate you, you can tell they really value their customers.

Walked in without appointment, tiny restaurant with maximum 12 people capacity. Adorable decorations around. Very impressed by the sushi. We had Volcano roll (3/5), California summer (4.5/5), red dragon (5/5), marvel chicken (3/5) and wagyu nigiri (3/5). California summer is a very creative sushi and red dragon just so delicious! Everything is perfect apart from it’s a bit smokey inside as the open kitchen. The owner Kitty is very helpful! Will definitely come back again and recommend this lovely place to everyone.
