Best Chinese around. Food is always on time and always piping hot. Owners and workers are always friendly and polite. Such a lovely takeaway

I must say I thought I was going to enjoy this takeaway but I didn't, it was quite over priced for what we ordered, it took along time for delivery considering the takeaway was only 1 n half mile away , the English meal was basic , the gravy didn't look or taste like gravy at all , the chicken was so hot I thought my mouth was on fire, I think I will try an alternative next time .

Absolutely banging food! We have just moved to Notton, dunno if they would deliver but we collected our order. Its a ten minute drive & well worth it, We ordered BBQ spareribs, Mixed grill, young chow fried rice, chicken foo young, Chilli Chicken, curry sauce & chips. Everyone of us highly rated our meals we were very impressed with the flavours they even throw in some salt & pepper wings which were nice & crispy, Just lovely, will certainly be making this our go to place!! Honestly one of the best Chinese’s around, the staff are super friendly. Normally good for collection times around 15 - 20 minutes. And the food is delicious! Will never go to a different Chinese in Mapplewell or Barnsley. The only downside can sometimes be the parking. Sun Mei is the best.

First time ordering and was one of best Chinese takeaways had in a long time had the chicken curry egg fried rice and house chow mein was delicious and red hot fast delivery large portions and reasonably priced will be our regular choice from now on

Ordered tonight, can't fault at all. I have the salt and pepper ribs bbq style and they chop them up into small pieces when requested. The best ribs in Barnsley by a country mile. Love this place.

Don't want to run the place down but the food was not upto par,willnot use again. (Sweet and sour chicken balls batter nearly raw).

Lovely food chinese takeaway of choice for me and family!

Food came well fast, 25 minutes from ringing it in to delivery (5mins away). This is why it probably tasted like a microwave meal, chow mein looked like slop no taste, no colour, no flavour. Salt and pepper chicken clearly been re heated and the prawn toast, was like rubber and when you bit in to it all the oil poured out, also don’t think it had ever come into contact with a prawn, definitely didn’t taste like prawn. Left feeling really sick !!! We was regular customers too, but they can forget that now…. What’s happened?????

They have a new menu so they charge via that even thought he old menu is still displayed on the wall with different prices, when questioned I was ignored and just told they have new menus

Really disappointed, the food not only arrived 45 minutes late but freezing cold, literally not even slightly Luke warm!! I had to throw mine away and reheat my sons as he was starving! £30 down in the bin!

Lovely food. Never had a problem however tonight i ordered Crispy Prawn Won tons. They arrived and had no filling in them. So I called and explain. Young lad answered phone and he said that they don't have alot of filling in. I explained I understand that but it's empty. There is no filling. He said he would get me a new portion sent out but it will be the same. I said that's fine as these have NO FILLING. Delivery guy came and I showed him them as I didn't want them thinking I was lying. Checked new order and they are exactly same. Again! NO FILLING! I would avoid the CRISPY WON TONS! Rest of food was lovely though

Appalling. Food is tasty, quality is shocking! Ordered a portion of beansprouts, got noodles. Special chow Mein contained 2 prawns, 2 bits of pork, 2 bits of beef, 4 bits of chicken. Ordered fillet Cantonese, was worse than dog meat, just lumps of fat, no steak at all. Basically just paid £28.50 for noodles 😂

Sadly it was our second choice this visit, we used to have regularly from here not so much since we moved away. They have a great choice but we always stick to what we usually order, always some left to freeze for later..

Its not often i leave reviews but the food at Sun Mei is the best ive had in many years, no joke. In fact i been too many times recently and they have restored my faith in Chinese take-aways. I have tried so many over the years around Barnsley and stumbled across Sun Mei. Don't take my word for it, many dishes i normally leave alone because no one can reproduce the food like i used to have many years ago so after trying a few others i just never bothered until now, ive tried 8 dishes so far i normally walk away from... VERY VERY HAPPY !!

I had a selection of Salt & Pepper dishes all very good especially the ribs and I like the fact you have the option of either salt & Pepper ribs deep fried or bbq style as I'm not a fan of the battered ones.

Mapplewell and the local area has some fantastic places to eat and drink in it, but if you are looking for Chinese food, this hidden little gem is definitely the best, the food from here is always the best, best taste, quality, price. Honestly would never order from another if I lived anywhere near this place and thankfully we do. 😁 Lucky us!

Very rude and arrogant young lass on the phone , when asking for special requests I got told “what’s that” giggling and been very rude !!! Avoid at all costs

Absolutely gorgeous Chinese takeaway. Everything was piping hot and so tasty. We have tried so many Chinese takeaways in Barnsley and have been so disappointed so many times but not this time, the food and service is fantastic!

Would recommend to anyone in and around Mapplewell. Always arrives in good time and everyone is so friendly. We've ordered from here plenty of times but are always mind blown at how delicious everything always is (and everything that's meant to be crispy stays crispy - salt and pepper chips are a must!).

Love this place, best sweet and sour around. Not so impressed with the fillet steak however.

I am disappointed again to be ripped of by your driver. Especially concerning I have spoken to you about this driver not giving correct change and pocketing money. Also the order is incorrect and you put pork in my order so this had to go in the bin

Amended review- food was delicious, even though we had to reheat it! ------------- I don't know if I caught them on a bad day but the delivery was 1hour 15mins. Driver didn't know where he was going, even though clear instructions were given. Had to heat everything up as it was cold. Not impressed.

After collecting my food, the young boy did not say thank you to me. I then imformed him repeatedly that he did not say thank you to me. Children nowadays have no respect for the older generation. How rude can someone be!! The food was mediocre at best.

Lovely takeaway, food lovely and freshly cooked, tasty and plenty of it compared to other takeaways in the area. We have the chicken and black bean with rice together with dry barbeque spare ribs and occasionally have a special curry. All dishes are lovely and we have never been disappointed with the service, food, price or waiting time. If you spend over a certain amount you get free small spring rolls and prawn crackers. Only problem is parking. You can either park on the main road which is a pain for other motorists or there is a small road 100 yards past the takeaway you can park in and walk down which takes all of a couple of minutes.

Been using Sun Mie since the current owners took over. ALWAYS had good food until tonight. Very disappointed. Ordered set menu C but only got as far as the starters, which is not unusual for us. BUT got to say not up to usual standard, starters overcooked and not much taste. We will see what tomorrow brings with the main courses, fingers crossed they will be usual good standard!!!!
