Sticky Mango Islington in Islington

I always wanted to try this kind of Cuisine and today I went to this restaurant in Islington specialized in south-east food. The restaurant is small, located in a secondary street (10 minutes walking from Angel Underground station) and probably not so much advertised (There were just 2 table served, a little bit few during Christmas time). And that's a pity beacuse staff is friendly, competent and gave the right advice about what to eat. I tried the lamb shank: Perfectly slow cooked, the sauce (made by potatoes, onions, shallots and peanuts) was incredibly delicious. I think I'll back

The place is fantastic and the food is supreme. With his very rich flavours, this thai fusion restaurant is definitely something you need to try. The service was great and friendly. We absolutely loved it

Thoroughly enjoyable meal, looked after by Ysobel. It’s a smart and sexy space - great for dates. Much needed addition to the neighbourhood that used to lack a modern Asian stylish restaurant. We over ordered and I would have dropped the Malaysian chicken puffs which were a bit dense and boring. Everything else was delicious!

We were given a lovely warm welcome by Imma and the team when we arrived at Sticky Mango, despite turning up moments after they opened at 5pm, and were offered a cosy booth seat. The restaurant is decorated in warm shades of deep red, turquoise and gold, with a modern feel but elements of 60s retro in the artwork. The cocktail list is unique and delicious, full of classics given a far-eastern twist with the addition of ingredients such as as plum sake and Thai basil, which give familiar tastes a new zing. We particularly loved the pineapple and Thai basil mojito, which has a fresh and sparky taste, and the rich and full-bodied Tokyo negroni, which also packs quite a kick. The menu is slightly shorter than the other Sticky Mango locations due to smaller kitchen facilities, but they ably compensate for this with well-chosen and tasty dishes. Of the starters, the Malaysian chicken curry puffs are the absolute stand out - light and fluffy puff pastry well stuffed with tasty filling - and the soft shell crab rolls are also delicious enough that you'll probably want to order more than one! The lamb shank massaman offers a filling fusion of traditional British dish with Thai style - tender, slow-cooked lamb and buttery potatoes in enough rich massaman sauce to last the entire meal without overwhelming the flavours. The Indonesian style sea bass is simply amazing, tender, very fresh fish cooked in a banana leaf to preserve flavour, and served with pickled vegetables and lime. You don't need too much in the way of sides with these dishes, so we just chose the very tasty broccoli with water chestnuts and mushrooms in oyster sauce, and the crispy potatoes with spring onions in peanut sauce, which work very nicely with the Massaman. Apparently desserts are a restaurant speciality, but we were far too full to look at the dessert menu by that stage. We loved our meal at Sticky Mango so much that we went back again for dinner only a couple of days later! We're already planning our next visit.

Best good I have ever had they have the best service and a great place to hang out chill and eat a lot of food which was too good

Amazing place, amazing atmosphere and also great food. Overall a great experience for anyone. The restaurant itself looks great and amazinggg music too. The service was also great and we loved the overall experience :)

Amazing food and decor really recommend the shrimp and chicken nam rolls, the drinks are amazing especially mango cocktail

Had dinner with my partner but the food quality doesn’t justify the price paid in our opinion. Booked the dinner with The Fork, which promised a 50% discount, but when the bill came we had to pay the full price. Food is ok, but price is inflated. Please confirm that you will have discount in your booking details after reservation, otherwise you won’t be entitled for discount.

Imma made us feel very welcome and we had lovely food. The ambience was nice and there was also a good vegan and vegetarian selection. Would recommend a visit 😁

We had an amazing experience at the new Sticky Mango in Islington. We have visited the original restaurant several times and love it, this venue is equally as good. The food was delicious, the stylish interior is beautiful and the service was brilliant. Innovative and freshly cooked dishes. The macaron and of course the sticky mango dessert ended a great family Sunday night out. I can highly recommend a meal here.

I just had the most amazing experience at sticky mango, the flavours of the food were mind blowing and the level of service especially from the manager Imma were one of a kind. I eat out all the time but haven’t experienced such incredible service and good tasting food for a long time. Everything was outstanding. Cannot wait to come back, I will definitely be a regular here. How often do you go out to a restaurant and get both good service and food, not very often. Thank you sticky mango! Xx

We went with my friends for a Sunday dinner. We were not disappointed at all! We tried different things and they were all delicious! We had the satay, prawns with the pepper sauce and those little puff with the coriander yogurt sauce! So delicious! Defo we are coming back!!also staff and atmosphere were really nice! This restaurant was really a great find we did through The Fork. Every dish we tried, from starter to dessert (the sticky mango was positively the best I ever tried) was delicious. Adding to the great experience was the nice atmosphere and cool decor and the friendly and caring staff. We look forward to going back again.

Stylish location and a feast of flavours. Normally as a vegan I have to make do with one or two menu options but Sticky Mango has an entire vegan tasting menu which absolutely hit the spot, especially the popiah roll and the signature sticky mango rice dessert. The visit was made extra special by the head chef (Peter Lloyd) coming out to our table to introduce the macaroon dessert one of our party ordered and the inspiration behind it. A brilliant and memorable meal - we’ll be back.

Had a superb evening here on Friday night - we were a group of four celebrating a birthday. Gorgeous looking restaurant just behind the trendy Islington Square. Lovely terrace area and as you walk in you’re immediately struck by the cool, vibrant decor and artwork. The food is exceptional - we went for the satay chicken, crab bun, the veggie and chicken rolls, lobster pad Thai, and more - incredibly tasty indeed! The staff were attentive and helpful and the drinks list extensive. I would go as far to say it’s the best new restaurant in Islington! Already planning my next visit! 😂
