Stewart Brewing in Midlothian

Absolutely fantastic Went to celebrate my 18th with my dad and had a great time. Amazing food and alcohol and had a great time on the tour ran by Jeff.

Did the brewing experience, super friendly staff, incredibly knowledgeable and provided lots of detail but entertaining at the same time. Had a nice wee coffee and pizza in the restaurant too. Great place tucked away behind IKEA and really worth a visit

Bought beer here many times and now own at least 4 growlers, tough to keep them full though as the beer always gets drank too quickly! Great to see how the place has grown over the years… Watched Scotland vs Wales yesterday and as always the beer, the pizzas, the staff and the service were all excellent! Left my sunglasses behind by mistake but called in today and got them back safe and sound, thank you!! Brewed our own beer for our wedding back in 2017 and the experience was amazing, such a nice touch to be able to make your own beer then have a recipe and certificate afterwards as a wee keepsake. Copperballs we called it 😂 Not just one of these novelty micro-breweries Stewart’s beer is now what I drink more than any other - First World Problems and Radical Road being my personal favourites but always fun to try the new ones. Luckily we live close by so visiting regularly is easy but even so it’s always a pleasure! Keep doing what you do folks you’re amazing!

Went for breakfast yesterday on the recommendation of my nephew and brother in law. Really impressive venue that perfectly compliments the brewery. Went for the vegetarian baked eggs while my partner went for the 'nduja' sausage option. While mine was as expected, neither of us knew that nduja sausage wasn't actually sausage and is actually a very spicey minced meat. The translucent eggs were probably just bad luck, but didn't go down well. Better menu description on what is already a very simple menu and better attention from the chef would have got a 5 star review. Table service and venue WAS 5 star though.

Stopped in to watch Scotland v Italy rugby with a beer. Blown away by the service, atmosphere and pizza which was more akin to a decent Italian restaurant in town. It's also dog friendly. Will definitely be back!

We had a brewery tour yesterday. 🤩 Booked a table, to have pizza before the tour. Wanted to try some beer (20 on the menu), asked for beer flight but the waitress has never heard about such a thing 🤔. It would be good to introduce it... Anyway, the beer we ordered was delicious, tried Hazy IPA Pinapple & Pinky and the Grain shandy first. Our pizza arrived quickly and was truly marvellous! (Capricciosa for me, Buffalo chicken for my husband). We had time for another beer before the tour, we had Black and Blue Sour & Moa Mountain. Excellent again. The tour guide, Jeff, was very welcoming, informative, answered all my questions. 🤩 We enjoyed the tour very much! There is a video from the humble beginnings (and you can see the first brewery kit later in the brewery! 😃) to recent times, there is a walk around the brewery - with interesting facts about the ingredients, brewing and packaging, you can take photos and taste some beers, buy Stewart-themed souvenir - and beer to take some home with you in a beautiful growler 😉. The only thing I didn't like is, that last order is at nine in the bar. So we finished our brewery tour, and than we hardly had any time to enjoy more beer in the bar. And sooo many more to try, we have to go back 😁. We are thinking of a "Brew it yourself" experience next!

Great. They were friendly and knowledgeable, lovely beer as always.

We were very fortunate to get a table beside the fire. The beer was very delicious! They had a good variety of types to please different tastes. We enjoyed two wood fired pizzas. The choices of pizzas were very creative, as well as incredibly tasty! A great experience and we will definitely go again!

Fabulous gem of a place lurking in the back end of an industrial estate. Such a cosy restaurant with the fire roaring, amazing pizza and beer, and wonderfully friendly, attentive staff. We were a group of 10 humans and 2 dogs in for a birthday party and were properly spoilt all night. Massive thanks to all the staff, front and back of house, who made it such a great evening. Bonus thanks to Joey from sales who featured in a spectacular photo mix-up, and to Justyna for sorting our booking.

Great beer , great food & drink . Recommended a tour if your a tourist in the city .

This place is excellent. As you would expect from a brewery, they have an amazing selection of beer and always have some limited editions to keep you coming back to try new ones. On top of that, their pizza kitchen is delicious with a fantastic menu and they allow you to customise each pizza to your own tastes. They've also started doing events, with the recent comedy night being a highlight. The staff are really friendly and helpful and always make sure you have a great night. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic, niche and individual venue. Initially, exceptional staff and service - every member was friendly and so helpful. We arrived without booking and were generously welcomed. Stunning handmade pizzas and a great variety of beers. Very much looking forward to another visit.

Another trip yesterday for some lovely beers to take away. I'd love to come to the taproom and have some beer and pizza without having to worry about getting there and back without using the car, we are in East lothian, bus takes a while then there's the walk from the main road. Would you ever consider putting a small shuttle bus on from certain areas?? Obviously folk would pay, and it would certainly get people spending money..

Impressed with our first visit- after recommendation from friends. The pizza really is very tasty, looks great too. Huge selection of beers, but I had the smoothie- lovely. Attentive service by staff, I appreciated that they turned the sports TV volume down when I asked- it was still quite early- there was a great atmosphere of busy conversation everywhere without needing to shout over the pizza, I don’t think many people were actually watching it anyway.

As usual, great pizza, good selection of beers and nice staff. Recommended.

Went along for pizza and catch up with friend. My first visit and definitely hope it’s not my last. Service was great, very friendly staff. I ordered the special which was hot dog, crispy onion and mustard pizza. It was soooooo tasty. Had a coffee at the outside tables afterwards, really nice coffee. Would highly recommend

Highest standards of brewing and customer experience in an excellent environment and location.

Great pizza kitchen in the middle of an industrial estate. Street parking plentiful. Wide range of ales with good descriptions. Low alcohol ale was lovely too. Good variety of pizza and generous toppings. Summer opening times attached.

We had a tour of the Brewery by Jeff last night. He was brilliant he made us feel welcome and really knew his stuff. He is passionate about the Brewery. Made the tour very interesting even for those of us non-beer drinkers. Thanks again Jeff.

Brilliant "Brew It Yourself" experience which was informative and loads of fun. Looking forward to getting my beer bottled! Great beers on tap, fantastic pizzas (try the Haggis, it was lovely), and great staff. Well worth visiting for the taproom or the brewing experience.

Poor service led to disappointing experience which is a great shame as the beer and pizza were excellent. Some of the staff were very good but when my plate was taken away whilst I was eating and mouth full then we handed the bill without asking for it and told abruptly that we had to leave the table as it was booked again soon the experience was a bit spoiled . Having spent £200 a little bit of courtesy would have been appreciated. All that’s needed is for some staff members to be given a little bit training on how to deal with customers in a way that’s not offensive.

Best experiences, like no other in edinburgh (food, handcrafted beer,atmosphere, staff, place ) 10 out of 10. We took our Danish friend for a meal before flight back to Denmark 🇩🇰 and she loved it as much as we do. Well done 👏 ✔️ 👍 👌

Great selection of beers, as you would expect. Pizza was delicious. We had Hot Honey, and The G.O.A.T. The pizza base is very soft & light. It was quite busy, you can sit outside or inside & dogs are welcome. Staff were relaxed and friendly. Definitely worth a visit or two.

Virtually every beer I’ve ever purchased from Stewart Brewing has been excellent. There was only one from well over a dozen I’ve tried that was just ok. Their beers are freely available around Edinburgh bars, and their online range is excellent with £5 postage for my order of 12 cans. I pretty much buy any Stewart beer I see in UK supermarkets, as they’re a steady brewer.

After a walk in the Pentland Hills we called in today as its so close by. Wow - excellent choice of beers ,lovely staff & fantastic ambience in the Brewery Tap . We will definitely be coming back to sample the delicious pizzas & work our way through the list of 20 beers on Tap 🍺

We came today with all our local family, including 2 babies, to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We had a fantastic welcome and a great lunch. Thanks to all your wonderful staff for making this a memorable occasion. See you soon

My first visit and it won't be my last. Lovely place with all the beer drinker requires. My visit was a delight from start to finish.

We came to pick up some of the brewery's fantastic beers, and ended up staying for pizza. I had THE best one I've ever tasted - carbonara! Sounds slightly unusual, but tasted incredible. My friend enjoyed one with parma ham and an entire burrata, with loads of peppery rocket on top. Fantastic value, the most delightful lady front of house, and a lovely chat with Mr Stewart himself....superb! Thank you for a wonderful visit - we'll see you again soon.

For those not in the know, the beers are pretty solid; Thats a given! But what’s less we’ll know is that Stewart’s do an amazing breakfast at the weekends. For those craving something rich to start the day (or maybe finish off a morning on the bike, etc.) this is a must! The evening pizza menu is also very good and is kept up to date with a variety of seasonal specials.

Visited here as part of a private booking. The tour of the brewery is preceded by a talk and slide show outlining the history of Stewart Brewery all down to the use of a kitchen sink in the very early days - see pic! Obviously an excellent beer, of which there is a large choice, was being supped during the talk. 😀 The actual tour was interesting and various dry barleys and hops used in the brewing process could be tasted. There is a small cafe where food can be consumed to help soak up the beer! Especially interesting and unusual is a pizza featuring haggis which was thoroughly enjoyed! Recommended if you an interest in beers.

A fantastic environment with some of the best pizza I’ve eaten, as well as friendly staff, low prices and very nice beer! I would 100% recommend.

Io e mia moglie (entrambi italiani) siamo stati qui sia a comprare birre che a mangiare la pizza. Birre eccezionali: grandissima varietà e tutte molto buone. Anche la pizza ci ha stupito! Impasto buono e digeribile, cottura perfetta. Anche gli ingredienti e le combinazioni che abbiamo provato erano buone. Per i nostri gusti la salsa agrodolce e piccante (sweet chili sauce) era troppo dolce e stonava un po’.

The best time you'll have in an industrial park without having to break the law. Great beers, fantastic shop, brilliant pizza and staff who are attentive and really know their stuff! It's hard to find fault. Lovely outside seating area for fine weather and a friendly atmosphere inside for when you want to escape the cold and rain. Will definitely be back. Looking forward to introducing more people to the pride of Midlothian.

Great fun place to visit! A real brewery with a super indoor and outdoor eatery. Delicious pizzas! Friendly and efficient service, pleasant ambience, lots of beers to try! The best Gluten Free pizzas I've ever eaten! Already recommended to family and friends and will return soon!

Was there after the Hop Run. Place was very busy but had a great atmosphere. They have made it a nice place to relax in. The pizzas looked great. The beer was excellent as expected. Took home a couple growlers even it was that good. Would go back. Wish it was nearer my house.

Don't drink so can't comment on the beer, but went for a pizza and had a great experience. Nice surroundings, really lovely and friendly staff, and the food was great. Had the bruschetta which was one of the nicest I've had, and a delicious pizza.

Such a brilliant homely place, great atmosphere, varied and impressive beer selection, and the probably some of the best pizza in Edinburgh. Staff are lovely and even on a Sunday evening the place had vibrancy.

Went for a brewing experience with friends. Craig, the brewer, was excellent company for our tour and taking us through the process. We had a lovely time, with some great beers, and putting together our own little monstrosity. Had a fantastic pizza for our lunch too. They had vegan options available. A cracking day.

The brew it yourself experience was great if you're at all into beer. Our guide, Nathan was very knowledgeable and helpful. The staff in the bar were very friendly and attentive, especially Sam. The pizzas were excellent fresh out of the oven.

Went to brew my own beer with some family members - great fun, very informative and then there's a bar at the end of it. And pizza for while you wait. Looking forward to bottling my beer in a couple of weeks, then drinking it.

My wife and I are regulars at Stewart’s Brewing. We love it there, and had a lovely night for the Valentines Special on Tuesday. Staff are attentive and friendly, who always provide excellent customer service. As my wife is pregnant, they are always helpful with non-alcoholic suggestions. Whilst we booked on Tuesday, they are always accommodating of our frequent walk-in requests. The pizzas…. are incredible - I loved the Valentines Special and the frequently updated menu. We are returning next week with 2 friends who are new to the area. Stewart’s Brewing is one of the highlights of being a Loanhead resident. Many thanks to the staff, Andrew & Kate

Great place , visited on a Saturday and would recommend booking , for a place in the middle of nowhere this is worth the trip. The staff very friendly and attentive. I was booked on a brew experience and Nathan guided me through the process and then it was time to eat pizza ( lovely choice) and drink more beer ( fantastic choice )

Went to a private function here and was impressed with the quality range of beers, tasty pizza's & welcoming warm surroundings (booths in particular). Staff were amazing & so attentive. Loo's outside (20 second walk outside to a separate unit) were the only downside

I am not a drinker but I had heard the pizzas here are amazing so we had to pay a visit. We came for lunch and it was relatively quiet. The car park is small but there are plenty of spaces to park on the street. The location is actually very good as it’s slightly out the way but not too far. You get a really relaxed vibe when coming here with a mix of stools and ordinary tables to sit at. I’d imagine it will get busy in the summer with the outdoor seating area. I like how it’s an open kitchen so you can watch the man do his work. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The menu is a good size and not overwhelming and I like how they have specials and they change the menu now and again. My wife went with the locally caught haggis pizza. I was tempted by that also but ended up going with truffle pudding pizza. We also got the red one garlic pizza bread on the side. From the pizzas the haggis one was better. It was that good that my wife only gave me one slice despite being very full. The dough was excellent and held the pizzas perfectly. It was cooked well underneath and the flavours on the pizza went perfectly together. This could potentially be the best pizza my wife has ever had. The truffle garden pizza was also really nice but not on the same level. Again, the pizza base was well cooked but feel that the black pudding on the pizza was a bit much for me. I kept thinking that the pizza was burnt because of the taste but I think it was just the black pudding. I usually love white base pizzas but this one wasn’t as good this time. It’s just personal preference so I reckon if I ordered something else I would have enjoyed it more. Both pizzas weren’t greasy/oily at all and I loved it how each table came with pizza slicers, chilli oil and flakes. The red one garlic pizza bread was fine but we wish we had ordered just ordinary garlic bread because we felt that the tomato sauce ruined it a bit. Overall, this place warrants a 5 stars and we will definitely be back to try the other pizzas.

Brilliant place. Great pizzas, really nice bar, but the best part was the craft beer kitchen experience. We made an IPA with Jeff and he was fantastic throughout, highly knowledgeable and helpful. Recommend this to anyone. Thanks!

I cannot recommend it enough. I've done 2 beer kitchen experiences at Stewart Brewing. The first was with Nathan, where we made a NEIPA. My second was with Craig where we made a Pale Ale. The level of knowledge, expertise and customer service was exceptional on every level. The bar staff were all really friendly and helpful as well. The taproom has a pizza oven and the pizzas we had were fabulous. Thanks guys.

Excellent beers, superb customer service, prompt delivery. Edinburgh gold is one of my favourite ales. I will definitely be buying more.

We come regularly to Stewart brewing and today we chose as birthday out and we enjoyed the lovely pizza and the selection of beers.

A family friendly place with a relaxed atmosphere. The Hot Hot Honey pizza is my new favourite overtaking the Buffalo Chicken one. The kids loved the visit too and enjoyed playing the games that were available there with their friends.

No tours available today, visited the shop and bought a few beers and merchandise. Added bonus today with black Friday discount 😁😉 will visit again sometime for tour cheers 🍻

Delicious fresh heartwarming and friendly.

Brilliant all round. The pizzas are just sublime, haven't had a base like that for a very long time. The beer and ale menu is never ending, I was driving so a pomegranate fizz was on order. A gem of a place, staff where first class and we ordered before 7pm so got the pizzas for half price. Finished the meal off with a strawberry and cream pizza, different, but we ate the lot. Cant forget some really chilled out tunes from a very talented lady on acoustic guitar. 5 star all round

Back to brew for the fourth time and better than ever with the new bar and pizza area. Staff helpful as usual, beers and food excellent so, all in all, a great day out.

Excellent service and food and drinks

We live close by Stewarts Brewing but I never realised it actually had α pizzeria until α neighbour told us. We booked to go last month and when we arrived we were impressed with the restaurant and bar as it looked fun and quirky. It was α nice evening so we were able to enjoy our pizza and beer outside. The staff member we had was great. She recommended us beers to try and even made sure to get our order in quickly before α very large party had theirs put through. Pizzas came out quickly and tasted fantastic.

Amazing venue. Doesn't feel like you're on an industrial estate. Great atmosphere and phenomenal food and of course brilliant beer. Staff are attentive and helpful. Everything is clean and it wasn't too busy for a weekend at all.
