St Ninians Tearoom in Dumfries & Galloway

Been here a couple of times now and I love it. The staff are really friendly and the food/coffee is delicious. Added bonus of the little shop that sells beautiful handmade jewelry. Dog friendly too. Would definitely recommend if you visit the Isle of Whithorn.

Myself and my partner visited while on holiday. We came across it by mistake. Were made to feel very welcome, lovely staff !. The food was great and homemade cakes as well. The prices was on par for rest of area. Would deffo recommended for welcoming meal

Always love coming here. The staff are brilliant and the food is to die for! The view across the harbour is special with the occasional splash from the seals.

Beautiful community run tearoom which serve a delicious full Scottish breakfast. Staff friendly and there is seating outside overlooking the harbour or inside in the spacious seating area.

Please pop in if your in the area. Lovely community tea room with hot and cold food small gift shop and essentials store. Stunning views over harbour. Friendly staff and dog friendly. If in a motorhome parking at the end of the harbour.

This is a lovely community restaurant and shop. The food is delicious and the portions very generous. We had chicken wraps and fish gugons. Prices were very reasonable. As all shop sells a range of foodstuffs, locally made cards and jewellery.

Just lovely. We went for breakfast and the ladies serving and cooking were so lovely and friendly. They even brought a bowl of water and some treats for our dogs. The place is spotless and the breakfast was yummy. Such a great place, we will definitely be back when visiting the area. Update for 10.09.24 went for a late lunch and the food was yummy, the team are all still lovely and friendly and it's just lovely to sit and look out at the view. The sun even came out for us. It's definitely worth a visit.

St. Ninian’s Tea Room is a lovely café offering excellent value for money. We all enjoyed the Scottish breakfast, which was beautifully cooked with top-notch ingredients. The only small downside was that the toast was a bit overdone on all of our plates—maybe a personal preference of the chef! The tea room has convenient parking and a small shop selling charming souvenirs. Overall, a great spot for a delicious, hearty meal.

Lovely food, friendly staff, and a cracking view over the harbour. The only downside was the other customers, who, when we visited, were a right miserable looking bunch, but that's not the fault of the tea room's staff, with whom we had a lovely chat.

This tea room is amazing. Immaculate views to the bright blue coastline and on a clear day you can see the isle of man. Absalutley loved this tea room had a little gift shop and amazing food options I had a giant milkshake and they do not disappoint I reccomend

Wanted quick lunch whilst in area. Cafe clean and staff friendly. Reasonably good value. Village was fairly quite but this place busy which seems to speak out what people think of it.

Appalling experience. They brought us our drinks straight away but then forgot to bring us our food. Made some excuse about not being able to find us despite us being in the same place as when the drinks arrived. Treated like we were in the wrong for asking for our food. The food when it got there was grim and nothing like as good as previous visits. Won't be rushing back.

Coffee and cake with a view. Smashing place to visit if you are in the area. Quite an extensive menu and super friendly staff. We have visited a few times and have been impressed with the coffee and food.

This very busy cafe is a must if you are in the area ,with a nice menu and homemade cakes. We took the Gammon steak and chips almost more than we could eat and delicious at very reasonable prices

Very expencive Pie chips and peas £10,95. Bay the same pie for £3,95

Nice, but a bit pricey for what it is. Also sat on the couch and cracked the back of my head off a table behind which wasn't ideal. Otherwise fine.

This community cafe is wonderful. We were there on a weekday in February and it was busy, Mums with babies, couples, people on their own, locals and visitors, we were all made welcome. We had the settees by the window and sat with our dogs, who behaved very well and we given biscuits.The food was excellent, a good menu and I can’t remember when I last had such a great home made fish pie. My friend had cheese on toast, which was delicious. The staff were all friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was great, the coffee and food were reasonably priced and we really enjoyed ourselves. Well done, we will be back.

Very clean, friendly staff and excellent food/drink. Good value and well worth a visit. We sat outside (take away) with a gorgeous view. Inside are plenty of tables of various sizes, plenty of high chairs, and public toilets - with excellent accessibility for disabled people. Have never seen so much cheese on cheesy chips, and the drinks were lovely We'll definitely be back for a full meal soon. Free parking.

Modern but relevant tea room. Good selection of snacks, ice creams and drinks plus a small shop of provisions. Clean, tidy with excellent outlook over the harbour. Friendly staff - definitely worth a visit!

A great cafe with fantastic sea view. Had a haggis wrap for lunch and twas delish. Dog friendly too. Also a small ajoining shop selling gifts and food basics. Very friendly staff.

Retreated here as a thundery shower passed through so we stayed for lunch , fish and chips and fine coffee were quickly presented by the friendly staff and we had a lovely view through the large windows of Whithorn harbour

Meant to add a comment when we were here in May. Another great lunch in a stunning location served by the pleasant staff in St Ninians Tearoom. Would strongly recommend this cafe and the fish and chips or the ploughman's lunch.

We've used this cafe several times on our travels over the last 4 years, and loved it. Our most recent visit was yesterday (Sunday morning). It's a local community hub with a shop and the cafe. I'd guess it was built maybe 10 years ago and is a bright, airy, modern space with lovely views of the bay. It was already open when we got there just after 9am and each time our eye was caught by a member of staff, they smiled and said "good morning". We both had the full veggie breakfast, not because we're vegetarian, but because the veggie sausages are simply excellent. The cafe and shop are a great example of how a community and charity run enterprise, can appeal to locals and visitors alike, whilst providing lovely food served with a genuine smile.

Community based cafe. Good service but coffee was not particularly good, however no different to many outlets in Dumfries. Wash room was excellent.

Staff couldn't do enough. Fantastic coffee and brilliant breakfast. We had the full breakfast on the day we were leaving. We also had coffee twice.

Lovely lunch and view over the bay. Nice to see that our dogs were welcome too. It’s not particularly cheap but more than happy to support a local business especially given that there is so little else here.

We visited the area with friends and went here as it was the only coffee shop we could find. Glad we went. Friends had french onion soup and a scone which they said was very good. Partner had a mozzarella, basil and pesto pannini which went down very well, I just had a Cornish pasty, which turned out to be the best I've had in a long time. The pastry was light and crispy and the filling was lovely and moist, not dry like a lot of commercial ones. The staff were friendly and chatted away making it a pleasant visit. We would recomend it as it had a good selection ofdishes and cakes available. The attached wee shop has a selection of sweets and crisps, and gifts, and also home made marmalade, (Not tried it yet).

We got there 15min before closing. They were still welcoming and more than happy to accommodate us. Lovely hot chocolate and peace of cake 🎂

Looking at some of the negative reviews on here, I do wonder what people expect. The tearoom itself is run by volunteers who deserve to be treated with respect. What they do is incredibly important for the community, and it has a shop which is clearly well patronised with everything from newspapers to postcards to sanitary products to a pint of milk! The necessities are there, and the community clearly uses it. The tearoom was large with a lovely view of the sea through a beautiful wide window. We had teas and coffees and a bite of lunch there, but the larger meals look like a varied menu and tasty too. I had a ham and cheese toastie with salad, and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. Do not bring this place down. It is needed.

All staff were cheerful and willing to help and engage in conversation. The food was served in good time and was absolutely delicious and was priced very reasonably. Together with stunning views from the tea room - a very pleasant experience.

Un café communautaire extra avec une vue sublime sur le petit port de isle of Whithorn. Site à voir absolument après être passé par le village des libraires de wigton. Surtout faites la balade à pied jusqu'au poste d'observation des oiseaux au port et reprennez le footpath qui mène au menhir.

Great find in this sleepy harbour. Lots of good food, alternate milks and a little shop with essentials and lovely jewelry. A great outside seating area too overlooking the harbour.

Unfortunately on this visit the food was not good. The servce was very slow and the meal was poor. We have eaten there many times, but on this occasion it was not a good experience.

Nice modern community run coffee shop/general store at the isle of Whithorn. Lovely views, and right beside the bus stop. Village pretty but tiny. A couple of hours and you've found everything.
