Spice One in Sunderland

Used this takeaway for years, food always lovely however the past 8 months or so things seem to have changed, counter staff doesn't seem to listen, given wrong order too often, when certain ingredients make you ill and you stress none of that item on at least twice on ordering and still receive food with it in is so bad, luckily the ingredient is visible so they remake it for me or offer discount, not sure what a discount can do if I can't eat it. I usually collect as a 1hr 50 wait for delivery is too long especially when I was told 30mins, then sent it back as they put the ingredient in that makes me ill, another 50 minute wait on top of 1hr 50. Recently they have changed different prices to what's on menu due to cost of living and waiting for new menu, told to look online for new prices, why should I as I'm in shop looking at the menu you have on counter, a few month down the line that same menu is still on the counter with wrong prices but now you don't get the 2 poppadums advertised on menu with the set meal, questioning this when I collected food I was told its cost of living so we have stopped giving them, surely I should have been told this on ordering, i paid extra just because I'd been expecting them only to be charged more than price on menu 🙄 I was ignored when I questioned this, he turned his back and went on the phone, terrible customer service, the lad on counter isn't good for business. I've always recommended this takeaway to everyone, unfortunately no more. Food flavour great, counter staff terrible

We always order from Spice 1. Wouldn't go anywhere else, vert tasty and value for money. Keep up the good work. 👍

1 star from me we go all the time never had a problem But was cold and a hair was found in the mint sauce absolutely disgusting all went to waste!! Never again

This Indian is the BEST. Food is always very tasty and delivered hot and always on time. Staff are lovely, delivery drivers are lovely. Highly recommend ordering from here. This is the only indians we order from. 10/10. Thank you spice one

Excellent vegetarian Indian food, as a vegetarian family we often struggle to find good Indian food , this place made a refreshing change , we ordered spinach potatoes , and lentil dish , which were beautifully cooked seasoned and spiced . Delivered very promptly Thank you . Lal Miah ekla eksho

This has to be the best Indian in Sunderland , food was out of this world the taste is unbelievable and it arrived hot . They even messaged me before sending out my food to see if I would like the vindaloo hotter than last time or the same - top service !

We ordered a king prawn tandoori, a vegetable balti, mushroom pilau and a chili nan bread. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement, the prawns were tasteless, and the nan was tough and oily. But the worst part was the vegetable balti, it was abysmal!!! It was nothing but onions with a tiny amount of green pepper and awful tasteless frozen mixed veg!! It was fairly hot with a strange metallic taste, I complained and was offered another 'fresh' dish, surely it should have 'fresh' the first time!!! We shall never order food from 1 Spice again, not when we have many other far superior Indian takeaways in Sunderland.

The food from Spice 1,is beautifully cooked,to a high standard. On delivery the food is very hot,and well presented. Spice 1 is our favourite Indian Take Away now,it now gives Me great pleasure,to recommend Spice 1 to You.

food was late and the forgot and item off the order and I had to ring up and ask the driver to turn back .. might give it another go in the future 😊

Fantastic food. I would have liked to have a salad bag and mint dip with my onion bhajis rather than just the bhajis themselves, as other takeaways do this. They don't take debit cards when collecting so make sure you have cash handy. Food is amazing though!

Food was decent enough, ordered 8:25, expected time 9:25 arrival 10pm and fairly cold,

Waited two hours for our Indian last night will never order from here again. Constant 10-15 min excuses. All for a big standard curry with absolutely no fresh ingredients what so ever just colourings.

I ordered on a recommendation from a friend and i could kiss him . Best Indians I've had yet beats any other in Sunderland. Defo new fav . Well done 👍

Hariali is actually quite nice although the chicken was over cooked and a bit rubbery tut tut lads, not what I expect from you lol. Lovely coriander taste and nice and spicy. Tried Tikka Paneer. Definitely not to my taste too creamy for me. Still curry and chips were lovely though 👌

Carnt fault the delivery time or service. But we felt unwell with the food we got. The chicken felt powdery /cheap, the garlic and keema naan wasn't any different from a plain, and there was water at the bottom of all the meals. It felt unsettling to find after the meal was Ordered. Thou did give us exactly what we ordered we. Know if the meal was like that again we probably look elsewhere

food was very nice, tikka starter was tender, king prawn sri lanka was good, not many prawns but very tasty. i was advised it was going to be late. i am a regular customer and would normally pick it up.

Great but a shame they don't do the specials on a Thursday or Sunday anymore. Or at least it's not showing on just eat anymore

Ordered pilau fried rice it was yuky..binned it....had beef curry..beef good and lean..curry sauce yuky..binned it...I will never ever order from Spice One again. Total waste of money. Not recommended.

Sent wrong item so when they eventually gave me correct order it was freezing cold so most of it went in the bin . All together waited over hour and half . Wouldn't order again

Great food, chicken tender and lovely, only one problem and the only issue I have ever had from Spice 1, both curries had leaked hugely, there was a build up of sauce in the bag and everything was covered in madras and vindaloo sauce. Still tasted fabulous but maybe the cartons weren't sealed or the drive was too bumpy. Otherwise I still think Spice 1 are the best curry takeaway/delivery in S'land.

No doubt the best Indian food in the north east . Great pleasant service good portions and you get 10% discount if ordered through their web site. The chefs special kebab starter for £3 is a meal in itself all the food I have ordered over the last year has been simply exquisite . It came in the top ten best takeaways in the country that should tell you the quality of the food.

Food was great. Tried a few new things. Mushroom roshun, mushrooms were nice not not entirely sure on the dish yet. Had chicken tikka Korahi aka Satan's Assassin. Tastes superb. And when eating it you feel fine. Until you go back for seconds, then Satan himself appears before you and offers for you to dip your mouth into the fiery pits of Hell to cool off!!! Spicy fucker it is hahaha

Spice 1 is by far my favourite Indian takeaway in Sunderland. They always deliver hot, good quality food every time I order from them.

Was quoted 45-50 minutes, but it actually took over an hour. Well worth the wait though!!

Asked for it my order to be delivered for 11:20 when I was sure I'd be in from work, order was delivered at 10:30, luckily my fiancé hadn't left for nightshift so was able to take it in for me, aside from that food was delicious and luckily still hot when I got in to eat

Usually spot on ordering from here...they cook the curry to the way we like it....but this time was far too hot...cudnt eat it.
