Disgusting, congealed cold and over cooked. Obviously the takeaway has changed hands as this was definitely not the same standard as last time I ordered from here Never again

I had chicken Szechuan although may as well have been vegetarian as only two pieces of chicken!!!! Sauce tasty enough but severely lacking on the meat front. Not the cheapest so would have expected more. Sadly - menu now consigned to rubbis bin as won’t be returning ☹️

Ordered our meal for collection we were informed of a 55 min wait before collection. We arrived 10 min early and drove straight home (5mins) with our food. We had pre heated plates and when opening the food I discovered the chips to be stone cold, as was the main meals! They don't offer delivery so meant another trip back and a wait for further food and they only offered to replace the chips! Never going back, £20.60 in the bin! Rubbish food, rubbish service 😡

Use to visit here weekly, but unfortunately gone downhill! Went to collect our takeaway which we were ten minutes early for collecting. Food was already on the side waiting. Everything was cold, salt and pepper chips were soggy and the special fried pork was mainly a tub of watery cabbage and carrot. Rang to complain and they were only willing to do a fresh batch of chips. Do not recommend at all. Poor customer service by the owners. Food ended up in the bin!

food was pretty good although the ribs were in small pieces with not much meat on them, we ordered quite alot for just under £50 to feed three which seems quite reasonable. Food was ready quickly and was enjoyed! Would go back :)

Good range of tasty food in large portions and ever friendly staff. Cash only though which might catch you out!

The food from here is absolutely gorgeous! Large portions, always fresh, lovely staff too. If you want something slightly different from what's on the menu they are happy to change. Love this takeaway

Brilliant menu well priced and very good food

As a special treat we had the mixed platter, egg fried rice, special black bean sauce, beef curry and Singapore chow mein. The platter was overcooked and dried out and sadly the main courses were all extremely salty. Very disappointed. We advised the restaurant to check their quality to prevent other customers disappointment. Apology received.

I came to visit my family. We ordered takeaway. The food was delicious. No issue; good portion and good service. Will definitely order again when I get back.

Had a take away from here tonight, was awful. No sauce, very dry and no flavour. Chips tasted like they had been sat there hours, again dry and bland, hardly any potato in them. Disappointed in my first time using this take away.

Poor at best Salty Nasty Rubbery over cooked prawns Worst food I’ve ever paid for I apparently have to give a 100 word comment… I cannot think of how many expletives I would have to type to cover this It was the worst Chinese take out I have ever had in my life … I will never venture there again and neither will I recommend the place… absolutely awful

We have used SofO for many many years but the last 2 meals have been awful. Too gloopy, contents not following menu, chicken tough and meat half of what quantity used to be. Family meal £42 wasted. Will not be returning.

Disappointing. First time used in a year or so, not as good as before. Poor amount of chicken in the dish and sauce lacked flavour. Rice also not the best. Shame.

The best Chinese food I have ever had .

We have used SoO for many years but the last couple of meals were poor. Tonight was terrible. Two types of ribs were like shoe leather and the mixed platter starter was half the size it was 2 months ago. My special chow main had 5 pieces of meat and the rest was gloomy noodles. King prawn curry was tastless. £29 wasted, very disappointed.

Lovely food, never had a problem with them, always friendly, would highly recommend the box specials great value for money and a decent size to fill your belly lol

Haven't been for years as I moved area. Went back recently, food is still good. No tofu dishes though. I had a Singapore noodle dish, nice, but not enough of the flavour mix.

Awful service today . Ordered food by telephone. Was advised 40 minute wait. Fine. Its the weekend. Arrived to collect the food to find a massive queue. Peeps still waiting for their food after more than an hour. Staff more interested in answering the phone than placating customers who had been waiting over an hour. Once i could attract the attention of the server, i asked how long until my food would be ready to be told at least another 40 minutes, so i cancelled the order and left. Too much attention by staff to answering the phone than realising a large queue of people who had wasted an hour or more expecting food. It is a popular takeaway with good food normally. They need to sort their communication rapidly and clear the queue b4 continually answering the phone.

Mega food and has to be the best service and such a happy lady behing the counter

We have been using this takeaway for many years. It has been steadily getting worse. Final straw was Friday when we had friends visiting. Placed an order for around £60. They always ask for cash now which is annoying as we don't always have it. The worse thing was on this occasion the quality of the food was so poor we ended up binning it. Highly upsetting will not be ordering again.

Served quickly and very friendly! Food was delicious, we will definitely be back again!

Absolutely terrible service. They got the order wrong, my daughter went down for the right order and made her pay for it!! Phoned up to complain. Not even bothered.

Friday dec 11 2020 Ordered special chow mien, special fried rice, which were ok, but the battered chicken balls we ordered were tough and chewy, inedible

I have only rated this place this low because the number of people they allowed in the shop was ridiculous in these Covid times. 12 people in on Saturday 24th October and they never said anything or asked anyone to wait outside. Yes everyone had a mask on but where was the space. In normal times having 12 people in there is way too many. The food is fantastic as always. There timings are poor as they said 45 minutes and had to wait 70 minutes

I often use the Spice of Orient for a take away. I've always found the food excellent and the service welcoming and efficient. They don't provide a delivery service but the food quality and taste is well worth going.

The best Peking ribs in Chestefield, and no matter what you order the menu, you’re in for a treat. Generous portions and very affordable. I especially highly recommend the salt and pepper chicken and crispy chilli beef! Staff are friendly and the food is prepared swiftly. Far superior to any other Chinese takeaway I’ve tried.

The best Chinese in Chesterfield hands down. I have had the delight in sampling much Asian cuisine . But unless you want to go to Sheffield's west street where a population of 10,000 Chinese students reside, you won't find better Chinese food in Chesterfield.

One-of-a-kind the best Chinese I have had. The meal in a box option effectively gave me free rice, though there was still a good size portion of both rice and main dish. The place was clean, the service was prompt and friendly

This used to be a great chinese but after I binned an entire meal last week I won't be visiting again. Hard rice, tempura batter on s&p prawns made them inedible and s&s chicken was cold. All in all very disappointed...
